As Christians, we must forgive. But what does this mean? We are called not to place limitations or restrictions on our forgiveness, but to forgive others as God forgives. Often frustration and anger serve as barriers to forgiveness. So, too, is resentment concerning the trials Our Lord has given us in life. When we resist forgiving others, we assert our will against God's. When we commit these and a myriad of other sins, Our Lord does not seek recompense; rather he lets our sins, that is, our debts, go. This model of forgiveness is one which we must follow every day of our lives. 📺 View / Listen to this Sermon on YouTube > 🔊 Subscribe to the SSPX Sermons podcast to get every episode > 🎤 Browse our Sermons Archive on SSPXpodcast.com > 📳 Subscribe to the SSPX on YouTube > ❤️ Like this sermon? The SSPX Podcast is produced by Angelus Press, which has as its mission the fortification of traditional Catholics so that they can defend the Faith, and reaching out to those who have not yet found Tradition.  What is the SSPX? The main goal of the Society of Saint Pius X is to preserve the Catholic Faith in its fullness and purity, to teach its truths, and to diffuse its virtues, especially through the Roman Catholic priesthood. Authentic spiritual life, the sacraments, and the traditional liturgy are its primary means of bringing this life of grace to souls. Although the traditional Latin Mass is the most visible and public expression of the work of the Society, we are committed to defending Catholic Tradition in its entirety: all of Catholic doctrine and morals as the Church has always defended them. What people need is the Catholic Faith, without compromise, with all the truth and beauty which accompanies it. https://sspx.org

During the third apparition at Fatima, those present witnessed the great miracle of the sun. Onlookers said the sun danced through the sky and gave off an array of colors. This was followed by a great moment of terror when it appeared as if the sun would collide with the earth. Why does Our Lady allow this? Because it led to the conversion of many souls. In a certain way, the reality of hell serves the same purpose of leading souls away from sin. The greatest commandment is to love God with all our heart. The second is to love one another. This is why it is crucial to be formed in love through the Sacred Heart of Jesus. For the One with a truly incorruptible heart is Our Lord. And through the example of His saints, we learn that this pure love can be acquired by giving up own self interests so that we may turn our hearts toward both Jesus and our neighbors. After World War II, Austria was partitioned, with its most Catholic portion, including Vienna, was given over to communist Russia. Through a consistent Rosary Crusade, the Russians withdrew their occupation. It is but one example of the thousands upon thousands of such crusades in history. Whether the intentions have been small or large, repairing to the Rosary has brought great blessings. The most important of these is the sanctification of the faithful. We often must use metaphors to describe the supernatural. These metaphors assist in the pursuit of holiness, which should be the goal of every person to become a saint. There are, of course, a myriad of good goals in life because we are intimidated by the idea of saintliness. It feels like this end is beyond us. Yet all these goals we set for ourselves, ranging from being a good Catholic father to a good Catholic professional, should build toward holiness and make us better disciples of Our Lord. Sanctity is the same as pleasing God. What Our Lord looks for is our intention to draw close to Him. God does not take an accounting of our actions, but rather looks at the sincerity of our intention in every act that we perform. We must have confidence in the goodness of God despite the situation of the world and our own shortcomings. Michael means “who is like unto God.” It signifies his unique strength and special purpose in salvation history. St. Michael’s service to Our Lord should not be understood in a purely militant way. He is an icon of remaining vigilant to serve God, in whatever way we are called to do. His service to Our Lord is also a reminder that we must be humble, for St. Michael assisted in casting down rebellious angels, and so we must ask ourselves if we are any better than they. The blood of Christ is a new affirmation of God’s love for us. Through the shedding of Jesus Christ, we are given a path of salvation. It is the eternal love that shall never be replaced. Our Lady’s role in our redemption is singular. We know from the beginning and end of Scripture that Mary brings us to Christ. She is our mother and it belongs to her to destroy all heresy, all evil, and ensure the triumph of God in the world. To love God with our whole heart, mind, and soul is not something we can achieve on our own. What we must do is ask the Our Lord for the grace to abide by this command. In order to do this, we must cultivate a spirit of humility. We too often believe that our own natural efforts can lead us to taking a virtuous path. Yet without God, we can do nothing. The expression “friend, go up higher” sounds like both an encouragement and a command. All of God’s commands are intended for our betterment. God approaches us as friends, not a tyrant. He encourages us along the path of life’s way. Through His grace, we are elevated to the possibility of eternal life. God will take care of us despite the difficulties we face in life. We can believe in God’s providence and still feel overwhelmed. We claim that we trust in God, but still pull back. He knows us totally. If we lose sight of this, pray reflectively the Pater Noster (Our Father). The Church prays in conformity with the truth that without Our Lord Jesus Christ, we can do nothing. It is a self-deception rooted in pride to think we can accomplish anything without God. To believe otherwise emerges from pride, and the only cure is to humble ourselves. God is the source of all good and all honor and glory belongs to Him. St. Pius X is a model for us of Catholic virtue. He did not seek exaltation, including the papacy. Yet despite his great record of being a pastor of souls, he was resistant to be elected. He saw the great challenges to both the Church and society. Despite his reservations, he rose up to be a great leader of the Church and an example for all down to this day.
