Unhurried Island Travel: Ewan Smith on Air Rarotonga, Aerial Views and the Kura
2026/10/24
The most memorable journeys are often the quiet ones: a sunrise over the Pacific, a lagoon seen from above, a genuine conversation. Normand Schafer of Far and Away Adventures.com (https://farandawayadventures.com/) talks with Ewan Smith, founder and managing director of Air Rarotonga and chairman of Cook Islands Tourism.Ewan arrived in Rarotonga in 1973, aged 22, as a pilot and engineer, and founded Air Rarotonga about four years later with one Britten-Norman Islander. Decades on, he says early departures over the Pacific at sunrise have never lost their magic.
Design a relaxed, authentic Cook Islands journey with a Far and Away Adventures specialist.
Ewan also speaks about a quieter kind of excellence: training local Cook Islanders as pilots, engineers and airport staff, and retaining his whole team through COVID so the airline could restart quickly. Some of those pilots have gone on to fly large jets internationally. For travellers who value genuine service, that local pride is part of the experience.
What should discerning travellers expect? The lagoon, and the warmth of connecting with Cook Islanders.
This is honest, refined travel rather than glitz. Ewan describes a personal, friendly style of service, airline staff who are all local Cook Islanders, Saab aircraft acquired from Japan Air Commuter, and flights between Rarotonga and Tahiti. He even admits he now prefers to be home or in a hotel by evening rather than on an overnight flight.
He is also an accomplished aerial photographer whose images of Rarotonga and Aitutaki are widely used to show the islands to the world. He produced a documentary on the reintroduction of the kura, the brightly coloured Rimatara lorikeet, with Gerald McCormack, using the airline's aircraft to move the birds.

An Intimate Home Welcome: Traditional Cook Islands Cooking and Craft with Tumutoa Tours
2026/10/21
The centerpiece is an umukai-style meal of traditional ground-cooked food. Guests grate coconut, prepare fresh coconut cream and enjoy the meal the traditional way, eating with their hands.
This is an unhurried, home-based experience. Namit shares traditional island life through food, weaving, coconut preparation, music and fire performance, with guests invited to participate rather than simply observe.
The most meaningful travel moments often come from being welcomed into someone's home. Normand Schafer of Far and Away Adventures.com (https://farandawayadventures.com/) speaks with Namit Tua of Tumutoa Tours about a refined, authentic way to experience Cook Islands culture on Rarotonga. What sets it apart is the sincerity. Culture here is shared through genuine passion, offering travelers a personal connection that no large-scale attraction can replicate.
Alongside the meal there is basket weaving and plate weaving, local music and a fire show to close the evening. Namit also explains tour timings and operating days for planning.
For travelers who value authenticity over spectacle, this is an evening that lingers long after the trip ends, and a gentle reminder that the most refined experiences are sometimes the simplest and most sincere.
For thoughtful, authentic Cook Islands experiences, plan with a Far and Away Adventures specialist.

A Canceled Ferry, a Changed Flight and a Lesson From Tahiti
2026/10/21
A French Polynesia journey from Maupiti to Bora Bora nearly went off course when bad weather canceled a ferry. Normand Schafer shares the real experience with Valerie from Tahiti Tours, revealing how unexpected changes can test even carefully coordinated travel plans. Far and Away Adventures.com, https://farandawayadventures.com/, helps travelers prepare personalized journeys with attention to the details that matter. For Normand, the incident reinforces the importance of preparing for the unexpected, considering travel insurance, and having assistance available when plans become complicated. It is a travel story about flexibility, practical decisions, and what happens behind the scenes when an itinerary needs rescuing.
Their conversation also moves beyond the disruption to consider the choices that make travel rewarding in the first place. Valerie encourages travelers to begin with the experiences they want rather than assuming every French Polynesian island offers the same activities. They discuss the Tuamotus, Maupiti, and Marquesas, each illustrating a different reason someone might want to explore the islands.
Normand reflects on how several adjustments were required in a short period, including transportation and accommodation arrangements. Valerie explains why last-minute situations can be difficult, especially when travelers need to make quick decisions about options that may involve additional expenses.
An alternative flight was arranged through another island, but that solution did not last. The flight was canceled the following day, and another change became necessary. Fortunately, a direct flight on Saturday ultimately allowed the travelers to make the journey on the exact day originally planned. They reached the next stage of the vacation by air instead of by ferry.
The story begins with a familiar travel problem: plans have been made, accommodations and transportation are arranged, and then circumstances change. In this case, ferry service was canceled for two days. Normand explains that Tahiti Tours notified the agency that the travelers would be affected, prompting a search for another way to reach Bora Bora.
If you're ready to explore French Polynesia, let Far and Away Adventures help you plan a journey that respects both your travel dreams and the realities of getting there.

The Moment a Tahiti Journey Truly Begins: Flowers, Music and Aroha
2026/10/17
A flight to Tahiti becomes something more personal when the welcome itself carries the spirit of French Polynesia. Moy from Air Tahiti Nui shares her memories and insights with Normand Schafer about the small moments that change how travelers feel. Far and Away Adventures.com, https://farandawayadventures.com/, helps turn meaningful travel dreams into personalized South Pacific vacations. The discussion also touches on cabin choices and why travelers value different kinds of comfort. Yet its lasting theme is the meaning of aroha: the pleasure of sharing warmth, love, and culture with other people.
One of the episode's most revealing stories comes from her time as a flight attendant. Passengers arrived at a gate upset after a series of delayed connections. Rather than allowing that frustration to define the remaining journey, the crew offered patient attention, practical assistance, and a calmer atmosphere. Moy reflects on how those interactions often helped passengers feel that their vacation was finally underway.
Other travelers find the same feeling in the music, the gentle pace of the welcome, or the blue cabin colors recalling the lagoons. Moy explains that the aircraft's design was chosen to evoke the islands, but the people providing the welcome are equally important.
At the center of this conversation is a fragrant flower. The tiare Tahiti is an emblem of Air Tahiti Nui, but Moy describes it as something deeper: a representation of hospitality, affection, and cultural identity. She has watched passengers receive the flower, breathe in its scent, and suddenly appear to relax. For some, that is the moment their Tahiti vacation begins.
Reflect on the kind of Tahiti journey you would love to experience, then explore the possibilities with Far and Away Adventures.

Handmade Pearl Shell Jewellery and Monoi Oil: Mrs Q of Punanga Nui Market
2026/10/17
True refinement in travel often comes from things made slowly, by hand, with meaning. In this episode, Normand Schafer of Far and Away Adventures.com (https://farandawayadventures.com/) meets Mie, known as Mrs Q, a founder of the Punanga Nui Market in Rarotonga, Cook Islands. This is not a resort boutique. It is a living island market with a story. Mrs Q describes how it grew out of the 1992 Pacific Arts Festival and opened in 1993, after she returned from travelling around Australia with her art. It was small and slow to start, kept going through COVID with local people, and now has a new building.
Mrs Q creates her own jewellery and earrings by hand, using shells from the Northern Group islands and pearl shell. She also offers local oils, including one used for massage and soothing skin and monoi oil for the sun, along with pareu and the fresh flower ei that greet so many visitors.
Shape a relaxed, authentic Cook Islands stay with a Far and Away Adventures specialist.
Normand finds a genuine warmth in her welcome. Mrs Q greets visitors with kia orana and calls Rarotonga paradise, and she is at her stall every day of the week. Buying a piece directly from her, and hearing how and where the shells came from, is the kind of personal connection that makes a souvenir truly meaningful.
It is an authentic, thoughtful stop to pair with a relaxed Rarotonga stay.
For travellers who prefer an unhurried pace, she offers a choice. Weekdays are quiet, with just a few stalls, while Saturday is the biggest day, full of energy, locals and visitors. Either way, it is a chance to meet the maker and take home something genuinely of the Cook Islands.

Why Moorea Stays With You: Lagoon Memories & Unexpected Moments
2026/10/16
Sometimes the most lasting travel memories come from scenery, small surprises, and moments when there's nowhere else you need to be. Normand Schafer reflects on the appeal of Moorea with Hikura from Sofitel Kia Ora Moorea Beach Resort, sharing stories about the island's lagoon, meaningful celebrations, and Polynesian hospitality. Far and Away Adventures.com, https://farandawayadventures.com/, helps travelers create vacations with room for both memorable discoveries and personal experiences.Normand recalls snorkeling around Moorea and using sea scooters near the Sofitel resort. He remembers the remarkable clarity of the water, while Hikura explains why the protected lagoon is such an important part of the resort experience. Colorful fish, coral, and the quiet beachfront setting become more than vacation attractions; they're part of what makes visitors slow down and appreciate where they are.
Moorea provides a fitting setting for this conversation. Hikura describes an island so close to Tahiti that local residents can visit for the weekend, yet different enough to feel like an escape. The mountains rise dramatically above the sea, and the ferry crossing introduces travelers to a landscape that can be surprising even for those familiar with pictures of French Polynesia.
If you want your next journey to leave you with stories worth remembering, ask Far and Away Adventures to help design a Moorea escape around the experiences that matter to you.
The conversation also visits the pleasures of exploring Moorea, enjoying French-Polynesian cuisine, and experiencing traditional cooking and entertainment. Normand recalls a memorable dinner overlooking the lagoon with his family, another example of how an ordinary vacation evening can become a favorite travel memory.
One of the episode's most personal stories involves a couple celebrating their wedding anniversary. They initially selected a beach bungalow rather than an overwater option. When an overwater bungalow became available, the husband arranged a surprise for his wife. While the couple was away on an excursion, the resort team moved their belongings and prepared the new room with flowers. Hikura remembers how happy they were when they returned.

The Raiatea Travel Mistake: Leaving Before You Really Arrive
2026/10/15
What if the biggest mistake you could make on Raiatea is leaving too soon? In this conversation, Normand Schafer and Arnold of Opoa Beach Hotel explore how the island's atmosphere, Polynesian heritage, and neighboring Taha'a reward travelers who give themselves enough time. Far and Away Adventures.com offers thoughtful trip planning through https://farandawayadventures.com/.
Some of the most memorable moments he describes are quiet ones: hearing the reef at night, returning to a bungalow after a boat excursion, or enjoying the peaceful surroundings near the water. These details are part of what he calls simple luxury, an idea that values the feeling of a place rather than just its facilities.
Other moments reveal Raiatea's depth. Arnold speaks about visiting Taputapuatea marae and experiencing the cultural significance associated with its Polynesian heritage. He also recommends spending a day on Taha'a, discovering vanilla, pearls, a distillery, lunch on a motu, and a coral garden alive with fish. Normand recalls how the underwater scenery continues to surprise him even after multiple visits.
By the end, Arnold's advice is clear: three or four nights should be a minimum to consider, because rushing leaves too little time to experience the island. If Raiatea's slower rhythm speaks to you, let Far and Away Adventures help create a journey with space for discovery, reflection, and relaxation.
They also discuss how ordinary travel plans can change. Rain may lead to cooking lessons or weaving with coconut leaves, while land excursions can introduce visitors to farms and gardens. A different activity can become another meaningful memory.
Arnold approaches hospitality from a deeply personal perspective. After years working in the hotel business in southern France, he and his partner chose a different life in French Polynesia. Their Opoa Beach Hotel has only 10 bungalows facing the lagoon, and Arnold speaks about the value of comfort, attention, and listening to guests describe their experiences at the end of the day.

The Personal Touch of Inter-Island Flying with Air Rarotonga in the Cook Islands
2026/10/14
True hospitality often shows up in small, thoughtful details. Normand Schafer of Far and Away Adventures.com (https://farandawayadventures.com/) speaks with Temaiva McKenzie of Air Rarotonga about how a family-rooted airline makes inter-island travel in the Cook Islands feel personal, welcoming and memorable. The conversation explores Air Rarotonga's lagoon cruise and day tour experiences, along with new product ideas including private charters and vaka experiences. Temaiva also explains how guest feedback and reviews help refine what the airline offers.
Onboard, that means music, genuine smiles and the famous lollies. On arrival, it means a scenic approach into Aitutaki that is deliberately unforgettable, setting a relaxed tone before guests even step onto the island.
Temaiva, who moved from airline kid to marketing and product development executive, explains the intentional guest experience behind each flight. The goal is for travelers to feel looked after from the moment they arrive at the airport.
It is a thoughtful conversation for travelers who value warmth and attention to detail, and who see the journey between islands as part of the pleasure rather than a step to rush through.
Normand and Temaiva consider Tahiti connections and possible future island-hopping routes, and agree on one point: what travelers carry home is the experience, not the ticket.
For an unhurried, well-connected Cook Islands journey, plan it with a Far and Away Adventures specialist.
A Whale at Sunset and the Courage to Dive in Tahiti
2026/10/14
Some travel stories stay with us because of what we see. Others begin with the feeling of entering an unfamiliar world. The Fluid Tahiti guest describes the quiet transformation that can happen when someone tries scuba diving for the first time. At the surface, nervousness is understandable. Instructors explain how to breathe, take their time, and gently introduce visitors to the underwater environment. Within minutes, apprehension may give way to wonder.
The sound of whale song travels through the water during a sunset dive in Tahiti, but the whale itself remains unseen until the divers return to the surface. Fluid Tahiti shares this extraordinary memory with Normand Schafer in a reflective conversation about the sea and the courage to explore it. Far and Away Adventures.com, https://farandawayadventures.com/, helps turn travel inspiration into thoughtfully planned French Polynesia journeys. The conversation then moves through the underwater landscape of Tahiti's west coast. There are turtles, coral, white sand, a submerged airplane, and even small wrecks. Elsewhere, gray sharks gather, and the guest recalls watching curious juvenile sharks at a favorite site.
The guest compares diving to yoga, not because the activities are identical, but because the experience can become unexpectedly relaxing. The real reward, the guest explains, is seeing the excitement in people's eyes when they return from their first dive.
Normand concludes with a simple thought: try a water experience early in your journey, allowing the confidence you gain to influence everything that follows.
It's the kind of memory that reminds travelers why some of the best experiences happen when curiosity, preparation, and the unexpected come together.
Yet the story that lingers most vividly takes place near the end of a whale season. The guest and two customers set out for a sunset dive, encountered sharks, and heard whale song underwater. No whale appeared during the dive. But when they surfaced, a huge whale breached nearby as the light fell toward Moorea. The surprise of that moment left the group astonished.
Let Far and Away Adventures help you plan a Tahiti journey filled with the places and experiences you will remember long after returning home.
The Cook Islands Market, Raro Elvis, and a Pandemic Success Story
2026/10/11
In this episode, we talk about unexpected journeys, local culture, and one of the most memorable personalities you can meet in the Cook Islands. We also share how Far and Away Adventures.com and https://farandawayadventures.com help travelers experience destinations like the Cook Islands through authentic local encounters and customized South Pacific itineraries. Normand Schafer visits the bustling market in Rarotonga to meet Paul from Rare Tonga Hot Sauce and hear how a global pandemic completely transformed his life and career.
Paul spent decades working as an attorney in the Cook Islands before COVID disrupted tourism and dramatically changed life across the islands. As imports slowed and communities adapted to new realities, local planting programs encouraged residents to grow food independently. Paul unexpectedly received habanero seedlings and began experimenting with chili farming and hot sauce recipes. What started as a small side project eventually grew into an award-winning local business attracting visitors from around the world.
Throughout the conversation, Paul introduces listeners to the peppers he grows in the tropical Cook Islands climate, including jalapeños, habaneros, chocolate scorpions, and Carolina Reapers. He explains how each pepper creates different levels of heat and why his sauces focus on balancing spice with flavor rather than simply creating extreme heat. Ingredients like coconut, banana, ginger, soursop, and custard apple give his sauces a distinctly island-inspired flavor profile that travelers cannot easily find elsewhere.
The episode also explores why local markets often become some of the most rewarding travel experiences. Visitors to the Rarotonga market can sample sauces, meet local entrepreneurs, and hear firsthand stories about life in the Cook Islands. Paul explains how tourist feedback shaped many of his recipes and why interacting directly with visitors became one of the most enjoyable parts of his business.
Another unforgettable part of the interview centers around Paul’s alter ego as “Raro Elvis.” For years, he has entertained audiences throughout the Cook Islands with Elvis tribute performances, and after visiting Graceland in Memphis, his performances expanded into larger productions. His “Burning Love” hot sauce, featuring Carolina Reaper peppers and Jack Daniel’s flavoring, became one of the market’s signature products and reflects the humor and personality that make this conversation so entertaining.
This episode captures the warmth, resilience, and creativity travelers often discover when they slow down and connect with local communities during their journeys. If you are dreaming about a Cook Islands getaway or planning a broader South Pacific adventure, Far and Away Adventures can help create a personalized itinerary filled with meaningful experiences, cultural encounters, and unforgettable island memories.
How a Cook Islands Artist Turned Beach Rubbish Into Global Recognition
2026/10/04
In this episode, we talk about sustainability, creativity, and island life in the Cook Islands with Sabina from Circle Cook Islands. We also share how Far and Away Adventures.com and https://farandawayadventures.com help travelers experience meaningful South Pacific adventures through authentic cultural connections and thoughtfully planned travel experiences.
Sabina’s journey is one of resilience, creativity, and environmental passion. Living in Rarotonga, she began collecting rubbish during beach cleanups while operating a dive shop in the Cook Islands. What started as simple weaving projects using recycled wrappers eventually evolved into an internationally recognized artistic business creating handcrafted bags and accessories from discarded materials found throughout the island community.
During this conversation, Sabina explains how she transforms coffee sachets, candy wrappers, inflatable beach toys, upholstery offcuts, denim, and recycled plastics into unique one-of-a-kind creations. Every item is handcrafted, carefully assembled, and intentionally different from the next. Some pieces even contain handwritten poems or personal stories sewn into the lining, giving each bag emotional meaning as well as artistic value.
We also explore the broader environmental challenges facing remote island destinations across the South Pacific. Imported plastics and limited recycling options create ongoing issues for communities working to protect fragile marine environments and coastal ecosystems. Sabina believes creativity can help inspire awareness while encouraging both locals and travelers to reduce unnecessary waste and think differently about what they throw away.
One of the most fascinating parts of this episode is hearing how a small local project gained international attention. Sabina has now won multiple awards for her work, including international recognition for environmental leadership and recycling innovation. Her story demonstrates how one person’s passion can positively impact both a community and the travelers who visit it.
The conversation also highlights the value of slowing down and engaging more deeply with destinations while traveling. Beyond beaches and lagoons, the Cook Islands offer opportunities to connect with local artists, explore community markets, and learn firsthand about the realities of island living. Experiences like these often leave the strongest impressions because they provide genuine human connection and insight into local culture.
Sabina’s message is ultimately about hope and action. While recycling alone is not the complete solution to environmental problems, every small effort matters. Her work reminds travelers that even simple decisions can help support sustainability and preserve beautiful island destinations for future generations.
Far and Away Adventures specializes in personalized South Pacific travel planning and helps travelers experience destinations through authentic local encounters, cultural experiences, and carefully designed itineraries. Whether you are planning a Cook Islands getaway or a broader South Pacific adventure, connecting with a travel specialist can help create a smoother and more rewarding travel experience.
A Story of Island Resilience from the Cook Islands Market
2026/09/27
In this episode, we talk about the kind of travel encounter that leaves no regrets because it gives you a truer sense of a destination than any brochure ever could. Far and Away Adventures.com and https://farandawayadventures.com are mentioned right away because this is the sort of conversation that often changes what travelers decide to prioritize in a trip. Normand Schafer speaks with Tupo Fica of Vitica Farms about his life growing produce and eggs in Rarotonga after being born in Penrhyn and raised in Manihiki. What begins as a discussion about coconuts, vegetables, sour sop, and fresh eggs gradually becomes a deeper portrait of island resilience, adaptation, and identity. Tupo Fica talks about a childhood centered on the sea, the challenge of living in places with little soil, the move to Rarotonga, and the satisfaction of helping feed the community through local production. He also shares stories of fishing, diving, sport, and health, which gives the episode a broad and memorable human shape. This is the kind of travel story that reminds listeners why local conversations matter so much. They reveal not just what a place looks like, but how it lives. If that is the kind of understanding you want from your travels, this episode is well worth hearing. Far and Away Adventures can help you plan a Cook Islands trip that includes those real, grounding moments that stay with you long after the beach photos fade.
The Kind of Cultural Travel Experience You Do Not Forget
2026/09/20
In this episode, we talk about why the most regret-free travel often comes from saying yes to the experiences that bring you into real contact with local life. Far and Away Adventures.com and https://farandawayadventures.com are included early because this conversation is full of the kind of inspiration travelers want before turning an idea into a plan. Normand Schafer interviews Namit Tua of Tumutoa Tours about a Cook Islands cultural experience that invites visitors to do far more than watch. Guests help prepare traditional food, weave a plate, open and grate coconuts, make coconut cream, eat in the traditional way, and enjoy music and fire performance in a home environment that feels warm and genuine. Namit Tua explains how the tour grew from his own life story, his upbringing, and his desire to preserve the traditions he values. That personal connection gives the episode real emotional weight. It also helps explain why guests so often describe the evening as a highlight of their trip and return with others later. This is the kind of travel experience that lingers because it combines learning, hospitality, food, rhythm, and human generosity in one place. If you are drawn to travel that feels meaningful as well as enjoyable, this episode will resonate. Far and Away Adventures can help you plan a Cook Islands journey that includes those unforgettable cultural moments alongside the scenery and relaxation that people usually start with.
Why Authentic Island Travel Still Matters in Rarotonga
2026/09/13
In this episode, we talk about the kind of island travel that leaves no regrets because it feels real while you are there and meaningful after you return home. Far and Away Adventures.com and https://farandawayadventures.com are mentioned right away because this conversation is full of the kind of destination insight travelers want before committing to a trip. Normand Schafer sits down with Tata Crocombe at The Rarotongan Beach Resort & Lagoonarium to talk about why Rarotonga continues to stand apart in the South Pacific. The lagoon in front of the resort is a major part of the story, with sea turtles, healthy coral, tropical fish, and snorkeling that begins right off the beach. But just as important is the deeper reason people respond so strongly to the Cook Islands: the sense of authenticity. This episode explores family reconnection, the emotional value of shared travel experiences, the role of Island Night in introducing visitors to local food and performance, and the appeal of a destination where culture is not sealed off from daily life. Listeners also hear about local art, coconut traditions, village-style hospitality, whale encounters in season, and why the island attracts travelers who want connection rather than a generic resort formula. There is a thoughtful undercurrent throughout the discussion about what travelers actually remember most, and it is rarely just the room category. It is the feeling of the place, the people, and the experiences that surprise you. If that is the kind of travel story you want to create for yourself, Far and Away Adventures can help you plan a Cook Islands trip that feels rich, personal, and worth remembering.
Tahiti by Small Ship: A Conversation From the Sea
2026/09/09
In this episode we talk about... the choices that can prevent a French Polynesia cruise from feeling crowded, rushed, or disconnected from the destination. Far and Away Adventures.com and https://farandawayadventures.com can help travelers evaluate Variety Cruises’ Panorama II and coordinate the sailing with the rest of a Tahiti itinerary. Normand Schafer joins Thanos from Variety Cruises for an armchair journey aboard a ship carrying no more than 49 guests through the islands and lagoons of French Polynesia.
One possible travel regret begins with assuming every cruise feels the same. Panorama II is not simply a reduced version of a ship carrying thousands of people. Its size changes the access, pace, and social atmosphere. It can enter secluded bays, use areas that are unavailable to large vessels, and anchor nearer the shoreline. The ship becomes a moving base that keeps guests close to the destination.
Another regret can come from trying to connect too many islands independently. The conversation covers seven-, ten-, and eleven-day itineraries beginning in Papeete and including Moorea. Longer versions can add time and overnight stays. Onboard, travelers unpack once instead of repeating transfers and luggage moves at every stop.
Thanos says people who do not identify as cruise travelers sometimes discover that a small ship is a comfortable way to experience an island group. Panorama II provides essential amenities, comfortable upper decks, and indoor spaces, but it is not built around enormous entertainment venues. Variety Cruises designs, constructs, and operates its small ships with the destination at the center.
Overscheduling is another source of vacation regret. The journey includes excursions and activities, but not every option is compulsory. A guest can sightsee, snorkel, walk, enjoy a beach, or take time to relax. The chief experience officer gets to know travelers and helps them choose a pace that matches their interests. French Polynesia itself provides plenty of atmosphere without requiring every hour to be filled.
The episode’s most vivid image is the chance to swim directly from Panorama II. At suitable anchorages, a platform brings guests close to the sea. Snorkeling gear, paddling equipment, canoes, and kayaks are available. Normand says the experience feels like being on a private yacht, except guests can focus on the water while the crew handles navigation and operations.
There are also cooking activities, cocktail-making, crafts, barbecues, picnics, and outdoor dinners when weather permits. The ship has sails and may use them in favorable conditions, but it generally travels under engine to maintain timing and comfort. Knowing that helps travelers appreciate the experience rather than expecting a romantic image that ignores the practical itinerary.
Choosing only by famous names can also limit a trip. Thanos was initially intrigued by Bora Bora because of its worldwide reputation, yet Moorea became his favorite island. More important than either name, he says, is the connection with the people of Tahiti and French Polynesia. Theme nights with local participation and visits away from the busiest areas can create those memorable encounters.
With only 49 guests at full capacity, social life can feel approachable. Travelers may form friendships, interact with the crew, and share experiences without disappearing into a crowd. The flexible schedule also leaves room for private relaxation.
