The Miami Hurricanes Beat Florida State 43-35 - The Recap
2026/10/18
It was ONE OF THOSE NIGHTS at Hard Rock Stadium. Miami was a 21.5-point favorite at home against a Florida State team that most fans had marked as dead. Miami made error after error and committed penalty after penalty, and somehow, through all of the mistakes, the Canes came out victorious in the second overtime. We start out with the defense. There were some subpar play calls, less-than-great play in the secondary, not enough sacks of the quarterback, and stupid penalties. We question the personnel in the defensive backfield, although getting a starter ejected didn't help. We allowed Ashton Daniels to complete hail mary after hail mary. But, in the end, Bryce Fitzgerald came down with the INT, and the Canes won it. The offense put up a bunch of numbers, but it was not a clean performance. Darian Mensah threw his first pick of the year and missed on some other throws. We did get to see the coming-out part of Javion Mallory. We may need to discuss his likeness to Frank Gore this week. Mali did Mali things. The right side of the offensive line remains a question mark, but we aren't sure there are any better options. Miami will most likely be ranked number 1, unless the AP does us dirty. What does that mean for the Canes? Were you rooting for ND to win or lose? We discuss all of this and more. Please go check out the great work that Cam and his staff do over at State of The U! And go subscribe to my new Substack HERE.  Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. The Miami Hurricanes face the Florida State Seminoles - The Rivalry Game - DB and OL starters - Jeremiah Smith best all-time? Ep 158
2026/10/15
Throw out the records. Erase all of the stats. It's Miami and Florida State. That would normally be the mantra, and I'm sure Mario Cristobal has emphasized it to his team this week. We don't have to live by Mario's rules, though. The Canes are on the rise, and FSU is in a free fall. Miami should absolutely blow FSU out. Strange things have happened, but I don't think this will be one of those times. There is some actual football to talk about. Xavier Lucas is coming back to the secondary. What does that do to the lineup? Who should be the starting five in the defensive backfield? Max Buchannan is out after having surgery. Who will be the starter at Right Guard? Does SJ get another chance? FSU has a pretty good running back, and their QB can run, but Miami has the best rush defense in the country. We feel pretty confident here. We make our game predictions later in the show, but it's fair to say we both think Miami covers the spread. In segment numero dos, we talk about ESPN's story calling OSU's Jeremiah Smith possibly the best college football WR of all time. Could that be? Then that leads us to their list of the top 60 CFB WRs of all time. It's the most bogus list ever. We'll tell you why. Then, it's our game prediction. The Miami Hurricanes Take the Bye Week By Storm - OLine Shuffle - Secondary Personnel - Recruiting Update - Loudest Game - Ep 157
2026/10/09
On this episode of the ROCPOD, Cam and The Beast dive into the OL lineup with Max Buchanan going down with an injury. Who will start at RG? So many combinations, so little time! A viewer/listener posed a great question about the secondary. We answer it. You can ask questions in the comments, and we will answer them on the next show. We are good like that! We have an exhaustive list of recruits attending Miami vs. FSU at Hard Rock on 10-17. Cam knows all of them and can tell you who to watch for as the next studs in Orange and Green. Then, Beast did a live AMA over on TikTok (go follow @RealOnesCanesPodcast). Someone asked: What was the loudest Canes home game you ever attended? We gave our answers. One of the answers involves a punter streaking down the field. Please go check out the great work that Cam and his staff do at State of The U. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. The Miami Hurricanes Beat Clemson 41-13 - The Recap
2026/10/05
Cam and The Beast do a deep dive into Miami's convincing win over Clemson in Death Valley. While some Canes fans are being negative Nancys or negative Normans, Miami handed Clemson their second-worst home loss in the Dabo era. The injuries are overwhelming, but did they affect the game? The offensive line is still in flux, and we still aren't sure who the ultimate starting five should be. It wasn't the passing game we expected, but the run game was good, with Fletcher and Mallory getting it done. On defense, Clemson WRs found too many open spots, and Miami let a subpar throwing QB succeed. The Canes had Reynolds under attack but still missed some sack opportunities. The boys consider all of that, but also give props to players like Ryan Rodriguez and Damon Wilson, who showed out. Plus, Canes fans freaking showed up in huge numbers in enemy territory. Has Kirk Herbstreit lost his fastball? The second segment has us ripping the AP Top 25. Half of the SEC is in the top 25; meanwhile, Pitt is at 25, and Wake is unranked. The SEC bias is a sham. The Miami Hurricanes face the Clemson Tigers - Congdon to Start? - This isn't Clemson 2018 - Episode 156
2026/10/02
The Miami Hurricanes head to the possibly wet and stormy Clemson to face the Tigers where they have not won since 2010. The Canes are undefeated, but have not been tested by top-of-the-line competition, although Wake is better than people give them credit for. Clemson was walloped by LSU and then muddied their way to three wins in a row. Due to the weather, Miami may have to rely on the ground game and we hope that Mark Fletcher is healthy enough to batter his way through the Clemson subpar run defense. What will the starting offensive line look like? Will Ben Congdon finally get the nod to start at guard? We hope so. The Clemson offense is a mess. They have a freshman quarterback that has thrown one TD and two INT on the year. They try to keep the ball on the ground, take time off the clock and hope to win it at the end. Miami's defense, with it's damn good run defense should be ready for the challenge. Will Miami cover the 16.5-point spread? Will Miami return the favor for 58-0 and cutting the turnover chain? Will Dabo be at Clemson after this year. These are all questions to be answered. Please go check out the great work of Cam and his staff at StateOfTheU. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. The Miami Hurricanes Beat Central Michigan 52-3 - The Recap
2026/09/29
Better late than never. Ok, we are a few days late with our recap of the Canes' win over Central Michigan, but here we are. We start by giving you all of the great things Miami did. The offense is a machine (other than five series against a better-than-advertised Wake Forest team). Mensah makes every throw. Mali catches every ball (literally). Javian Mallory looked good. BEN CONGDON HAS ARRIVED! We defended the option well and stopped the run like a big steel wall. We also have a few things to work on. There were too many penalties. There are too many injuries. Did we mention penalties? It's the breakdown you need of a game on the CW, which isn't exactly great at broadcasting games. Communication Breakdown - 2001 Jerseys - OL Changes - Injuries Galore - CMU Preview - Episode 155
2026/09/25
Cam and The Beast start with the news that broke just before they recorded this show. Supposedly, headset communication went out for the Miami Hurricanes and the Indiana Hoosiers in the National Title game when Donald Trump was on the move in Hard Rock Stadium. We give Adidas props for the marketing campaign surrounding the release of the throwback jerseys celebrating the 25th anniversary of the 2001 National Championship Team. But where has this been? They have had 12 years to show us what they are capable of. The jerseys are dope, though. We wonder whether the avalanche of injuries for our Miami Hurricanes will impact our expectations for this season. The Offensive Line needs changes, most notably at guard. Will Mario Cristobal and Alex Mirabal make changes? Beast and Cam make a bet. Should the Canes just sit guys like Malachi Toney and Mark Fletcher Jr who are battling injuries? Miami DB Ethan O'Conner is really damn good. Central Michigan isn't good, but the Miami defense will face the option, and the Canes' offense needs to do a lot better than they did in the second half of last week's game against Wake. The Miami Hurricanes Beat Wake Forest 33-20 - The Recap
2026/09/19
The win was not pretty, but it was a W and the Canes go 1-0 again. Mario said after the game that it wasn't "up to the standard," and it wasn't. There were injuries, and penalties, and a constipated offense (As Dan LeBatard would say), and did we mention injuries? The Miami Hurricanes did win the game, so there is that, but there was a lot that did not go right against Wake. The question is whether this is a sign of things to come or an aboration. The Miami Hurricanes are back with Nike! 2027 ACC Schedule Out - Wake Forest Preview - Ep 154
2026/09/17
This was a fun show to do. The guys react to the huge announcement that the Miami Hurricanes are flipping back to Nike after 12 years with Adidas. It's a ton of money (over $200 million), and a huge deal made without an Athletic Director in place. It's a big deal for the university and the fans. The ACC managed to release the 2027 conference opponents under the dark of night. The Beast brings it up and Cam was surprised. It's ok, the Miami schedule is interesting. The home schedule doesn't seem that enticing, but that's an issue for another day. In segment two, we breakdown Miami's game against a decent Wake Forest team. Miami is missing three DBs. Is that a concern? Miami's staff thinks it is an opportunity. Wake QB Gio Lopez is a dynamic dual-threat QB. They have some players on both sides of the ball, but we think Miami will be up to the task. Miami is in the heads of Notre Dame fans. That's all that needs to be said. The Miami Hurricanes beat FAMU 77-7 - The Recap
2026/09/12
Cam and The Beast bring you all of the storylines that came out of Miami's 77-7 win against FAMU at Hard Rock Stadium on Thursday night. Yes, Darian Mensah, Malachi Toney, and Mark Fletcher had their moments, but so many new faces got playing time and made an impact! We saw Mallory with two touchdowns, and Vance Spafford and Somourian Wingo got into the end zone. Luke Nickel had a perfect passing night. We even got to see the next-gen QB Dereon Coleman, who played pretty well! It wasn't all perfect, though. There were a few miscues, including a jump-offside, a fumble, and a missed block. There's always something to correct. We discussed whether Luke Nickel is going to be the starter at QB next season. It's an interesting debate. The other topic we dove into was whether Miami should be playing FAMU at all. Miami is getting singled out for playing an HBCU, but other schools are doing it (See Indiana v. Howard). The Miami Hurricanes face FAMU - Jordan Lyle News - Cornerback Void - Is Dabo Done? Episode - 153
2026/09/10
Cam did the unthinkable and left The Beast to his own devices this week. It's ok, BTBL (Brian The Beast London) knows how to fly solo and brings you the preview you need for Miami and FAMU. We got word just before the show that Jordan Lyle may have his status change as legal news came in. The Beast tells you about that as well as tells you who you might see lining up at CB with OJ Frederique, Jr. out after a major, possibly season-ending, shoulder injury ended his night in Palo Alto. We also need to see more from the OLine by way of run blocking to Mr. Fletcher and company can have a better night on the ground. The Marching 100 will be in town and The Frost Band of the Hour has promised they have adopted some Marching 100 techniques to improve their performance. Cam and The Beast will be the judge of that from the press box on Thursday night. There is always a lot of college football news to talk about. From the SEC threatening to throw LSU out of the conference (was never going to happen ...hello $$$$$) to Dabo possibly being in his last season at Clemson. Oh, and some jackass left Miami off his Top 25 ballot. SMH! Don't forget to check out all of the great work Cam and his staff do at StateOfTheU. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. The Miami Hurricanes Beat the Stanford Cardinal 45-6 - The Recap
2026/09/07
The Miami Hurricanes made the 2,500 mile journey from Miami to Palo Alto to face the Stanford Cardinal and they took care of business in the opening game of the 2026 campaign. Darian Mensah to Malachi Toney was a thing that was on display all night (until they got some rest late in the game). Malachi set the single-game receiving record, breaking Eddie Brown's record from 1984. Darian Mensah had 400 yards passing and looked almost perfect in his debut in the Orange and Green. The offense was making big play after big play, but the run game left a bit to be desired. We get into the performance of the offensive line. Will there be changes going into the FAMU game upfront? How did Jackson Cantwell do in his first college game? The defense was a mixed bag. They kept Stanford out of the end zone, but The Beast and Cam bring you some advanced analytics to show there needs to be some improvement. Yes we nitpick, but the bottom line is, Miami got the job done in convincing fashion against a Power 4 school. Now on to FAMU, and the Marching 100! Miami Hurricanes vs Stanford Preview - Season Predictions - A'mir Sears is FIRE ! - Episode 152
2026/09/01
We made it! The offseason is over. The pointless time-killing debates can stop, and all of the opinions from the talking heads can be thrown aside. The Miami Hurricanes will start their 2026 campaign in Palo Alto against the Stanford Cardinal. Cam and The Beast have your game preview with all of the important matchups. Stanford has already played a game, beating Hawaii. The Canes will be traveling 6 hours west (maybe less depending on the head winds), and take on Stanford on The Farm on Friday night. What story lines are we thinking about as the season starts? There are tons of positive story lines, but are their any concerns we have? We give it all to you. In segment two, the boys give you their game prediction and season prediction. But, before they dish out their predictions, they tell you about a Canes' recruit unlike any other. His name is A'mir Sears, and if you haven't watched his highlights, do it HERE. https://247sports.com/video/amir-sears-highlights-vs-bishop-gorman-broward-showcase-14314173/ Don't forget to go check out Cam and his staff's great work at State of The U. Miami Hurricanes Training Camp comes to an end and Cam Vaughn and Jordan Lyle Saga - Ep 151
2026/08/24
As the Canes come to the close of fall camp, the entire world wants to talk about who will be WR3. We do cover this, but there are other storylines to consider, notably OL, LB, and K. We break those down and more. The Beast wants to talk about off-the-field issues and sort of catches Cam off guard. Instead of pausing to let Cam catch up on what he missed, he wants to power through and "DO IT LIVE." Was Cam Vaughn told to exit stage right because of his attitude towards the WR depth chart, or did his arrest for reckless driving have something to do with it? What kind of punishment might Jordan Lyle face for his arrest? Will he be available for game 1? As always, please check out the great work of Cam and his staff at State of The U. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.
Mario Cristobal Signs and Extension-Miami Hurricanes Training Camp Week 1 Break Down - Should Miami Join Notre Dame as an Independent? - Episode 150
2026/08/09
Firstly, we apologize for Cam's audio. We tried to fix it many times, but the gremlins got the better of us. Cam and The Beast dig into the first week of the Miami Hurricanes' first week of fall camp. Of course, the first topic has to be the contract extension that Mario Cristobal signed. More Years. More Money. Donation back to the school. This is all good! Then it's some position talk, as The Beast tells you he is not a fan of the minutiae of camp, but secretly pays attention to all of it. We start with the DBs. They have a chance to be elite. The depth is there. And could OJ Frederique turn into a shutdown corner? The O-line has a huge upside. Samson Okunlola has been impressing and has been playing left tackle. Could Jackson Cantwell actually start at guard? We don't think so, but one never knows. Darian Mensah is playing like QB 1 and is now fully programmed to give us QB Speak. We like it. In Segment 2, The Beast gets radical. Brian lays out the path forward for Miami to regain its independence as a college football program. Forget the SEC. Forget the Big 10. We don't need your stinking Badgers. Someone get on the horn to Netflix or Amazon or Apple. Finally, Michael Irvin is helping Mamma Fletcher get to every game. She still won't fly, so why not arrive in style in her own customized RV? Oh, and is Fetching Fletchers the best name for a reality video series? Please go check out the great work of Cam and his staff at State Of The U. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company.
