079: Shame Is Not Accountability: How to Take Responsibility Without Betraying Yourself
2026/10/19
What is the difference between shame, guilt and accountability and why does it matter for trauma healing, relationships and personal growth? We often assume that feeling terrible about something we have done means we are holding ourselves accountable. But shame can actually pull us away from accountability by turning a behaviour or mistake into an identity: I didn’t just do something wrong, there is something wrong with me. In this episode of the Manifestation Therapy® and Coaching Podcast, Judy Hawley, MSW, RSW, BSDS, trauma therapist and transformational coach, explores how shame, guilt and accountability function differently, particularly for people with histories of trauma, criticism, emotional invalidation, ADHD, people-pleasing or perfectionism.  You’ll explore why healthy guilt can provide information about your values and behaviour without defining who you are and why feeling guilty does not automatically mean you have done something wrong. Sometimes guilt arises simply because you are setting a boundary, saying no or changing an old pattern.  Judy also explores what real accountability can look like: acknowledging what happened, understanding your impact, making repair when necessary, changing behaviour and sometimes accepting consequences without requiring endless self-punishment. Key Notes: From a trauma-informed perspective, understanding why a behaviour developed matters but understanding does not automatically excuse its impact. A pattern may once have protected you and still cause harm today. Healing allows room for both compassion and responsibility. Judy brings the conversation through the Manifestation Therapy® framework of Release, Regulate, Align and Manifest, as well as the Four N’s: Name, Notice, Normalize and Nurture, to explore how we can stay connected to ourselves while taking meaningful responsibility for our choices.  In this episode: The difference between shame, guilt and accountabilityHow shame can become tied to identity and self-worthTrauma, ADHD, rejection and internalized shameWhy guilt can be useful—but isn’t always accurateBoundaries and conditioned guiltWhy trauma can explain behaviour without excusing itSelf-compassion versus self-punishmentTaking responsibility without abandoning yourselfRelease → Regulate → Align → ManifestThe Four N’s: Name, Notice, Normalize and NurtureUsing emotions as information rather than identity Key takeaway: Shame says, “I am the problem.” Guilt can tell me, “Something needs my attention.” Accountability says, “Now that I understand it, what am I going to do about it?” Manifestation Therapy® Where Science Meets Soul. 078 A Gratitude Meditation: Self-Acceptance, Self Love and Appreciation for who you are
2026/10/12
Deep Gratitude: A Guided Meditation for Your Body, Your Life & Yourself In this guided meditation, Judy invites you to slow down, reconnect with your body, and experience gratitude not simply as something you think about but something you can feel and embody. Through gentle breathing, a full-body gratitude scan, self-acceptance and reflection, you'll be guided to notice the extraordinary ways your body has carried, protected and supported you throughout your life. This meditation explores gratitude for your body, your experiences, the different versions of yourself you've been, and the person you are becoming. You'll be invited to: Settle into your body and the present moment Move through a gentle body scan with intentional gratitude Appreciate your body for what it does rather than how it looks Meet past and present versions of yourself with greater compassion Release some of the pressure to be perfect Practice self-acceptance without giving up growth Recognize the ways you've adapted, survived, learned and changed Allow gratitude to extend inward—to yourself Self-love doesn't require believing everything about yourself is perfect. You can recognize where you want to grow while still loving the person who is growing. You can want something different for your future without making who you are today insufficient. Find somewhere comfortable, give yourself permission to simply receive, and join me for this practice of deep gratitude, self-love and acceptance. 077 ADHD and Time Blindness Why knowing is not the same as doing
2026/10/09
Why can someone with ADHD know they need to leave in 15 minutes—and still struggle to leave on time? In this episode, Judy Hawley, MSW, RSW explores ADHD and time blindness: the difficulty sensing, estimating, organizing and responding to time. Time blindness isn't about not caring, being irresponsible or simply needing to “try harder.” For many ADHD brains, time can be difficult to perceive until something becomes immediate. Knowing is not the same as doing. Key Notes Judy explores the distinction between understanding of time management, and actually being successful with organizing time around the tasks you are focused on.Throughout the episode, Judy explores how to use specific strategies to anticipate the big picture of time management as opposed to the end focus point of being somewhere on time, successfully completing assignments and the need for removing the judgement from time management with neurodivergence. Having ADHD doesn't mean our behaviour doesn't affect other people. If we repeatedly arrive late and inconvenience someone, ADHD may explain why the behaviour is happening, but it doesn't erase its impact. Accountability still matters. But accountability and shame are not the same thing. Rather than demanding that an ADHD brain simply function differently, we can ask: What systems can I build that work with my brain and still allow me to take responsibility for my behaviour? Because you cannot see 15 minutes. For many people with ADHD, time needs to become external and visible. Sometimes the behaviour you've spent years judging becomes much easier to change once you understand what has been driving it. In This Episode Why ADHD can create a sense of “now” versus “not now”Why a deadline three weeks away may not create urgency until it is suddenly very closeThe difference between understanding time intellectually and experiencing it internallyHow procrastination and last-minute urgency can become part of the ADHD cycleWhy repeatedly criticizing executive functioning difficulties doesn't make executive functioning more effectiveThe difference between accountability and shameWhy ADHD can explain behaviour without eliminating responsibility for its impactHow to externalize time using visual timers, labelled alarms, transition cues and other supportsWhy tracking how long things actually take can be more useful than guessing how long they should takeHow curiosity can support change more effectively than self-judgment Take with you:F or one week, don't begin by trying to fix your time management. Study it. Notice how long getting ready actually takes. How long transitions take. Where you lose time. What creates urgency. What makes starting easier. What happens when you're deeply engaged in something. Replace judgment with curiosity and start gathering information about how your brain actually experiences time. 076 What I Actually Do: Inside Manifestation Therapy® and Coaching with Judy Hawley
2026/09/22
What if the pattern you keep trying to eliminate isn’t actually the problem? What if procrastination, perfectionism, people-pleasing, shutting down, overthinking, hyper-independence, or even fear of success developed because some part of your system learned that these behaviours offered protection? In this episode, Judy answers one of the questions she is asked most often: What exactly do you do? The answer goes far beyond one therapeutic modality. Judy shares how nearly two decades of work across mental health, addictions, trauma, crisis intervention, families, schools, forensic settings, psychotherapy and coaching shaped an approach that looks at the whole person; brain, body, nervous system, thoughts, emotions, behaviour, attachment, relationships, identity, spirituality, energy and purpose. Key Notes Judy explores the distinction she makes between being trauma-informed and trauma-educated, and why understanding why a pattern developed can be just as important as changing it. Rather than beginning with “How do we get rid of this?”, her work begins with curiosity: What is your system trying to accomplish or protect? Throughout the episode, Judy explores how she integrates approaches including IFS/parts work, CBT, DBT, emotionally focused and attachment-based work, Brainspotting, elements of EMDR, motivational interviewing, ACT, nervous-system work, neurodivergence and ADHD-informed approaches, alongside spirituality, energetics and the 12 Universal Principles. She also introduces the pathway at the heart of Manifestation Therapy®: Release → Regulate → Align → Manifest Release what no longer needs to be carried. Regulate so expansion does not automatically register as danger. Align thoughts, behaviour, identity, relationships, values and purpose with what you are creating. Manifest through conscious creation, embodiment and action.Because manifestation isn't simply positive thinking, affirmations or creating a vision board. It requires understanding what happens internally when you move toward the very thing you say you want. In This Episode Why behaviour makes more sense when we understand what came before itHow protective patterns can masquerade as self-sabotageTrauma-informed versus Judy's concept of trauma-educated practiceWhy different brains require different approaches, particularly with ADHD and neurodivergenceHow IFS, CBT, DBT, Brainspotting, attachment work and other modalities can work togetherThe relationship between the nervous system and our capacity for expansionHow spirituality and psychology can coexist without spiritual bypassingThe role of the 12 Universal Principles within Manifestation Therapy® A question to take with you: What if the part of you that seems to be standing in your way isn't trying to sabotage you, but has been trying to protect you? You cannot sustainably create a new reality while remaining unconsciously organized around the old one.Release. Regulate. Align. Manifest. 075 Ashley Patino on Healing Through the Akashic Records and Returning to Self
2026/09/04
In this episode, I’m joined by Ashley Patino, healer and host of Life After an Ego Death, to talk about spiritual awakening, ego death, energy, intuition and finding your way back to yourself. Ashley shares her rapid awakening and how it led her into Kundalini energy, the Akashic Records, channeling and supporting others through their own spiritual journeys. Key Notes Ashley’s spiritual journey accelerated around her Saturn return at 29, when she realized she was no longer living in alignment with herself. What followed was a rapid spiritual and Kundalini awakening and an exploration of energy healing, the Akashic Records, channeling, meditation and intuitive development. One of the biggest themes in our conversation is learning to trust ourselves while still taking responsibility for our own healing. We talk about boundaries, consent, energetic protection, listening to the body, taking action toward what we want, closing old cycles and allowing ourselves to be in the uncomfortable space between what was and whatever comes next. In This Episode • Spiritual awakening and ego death • Kundalini awakening and the Saturn return • Akashic Records, channeling and intuition • Energy healing, protection and boundaries • Consent and personal responsibility in healing • Manifestation, intention and taking action • Listening to your body and nervous system • Closing cycles and “energy leaks” • Rest, expansion and different seasons of life • Learning to trust the liminal space between endings and new beginnings • Ashley’s Life After an Ego Death podcast • Bringing mind, body, energy and spirit into alignment Connect with Ashley: Instagram: @rainbowhawkwomyn Podcast: Life After an Ego Death on Spotify and Apple Podcasts Connect with Judy 🌐 www.manifestationtherapy.com 📸 Instagram: @manifestationtherapy 🎙️ The Manifestation Therapy Podcast 📘 Manifestation Therapy®: Universal Principles in Supportive Practice
074 Spiritual Awakening Redefined: Maybe we do not remove the ego, just find acceptance for all of who we are.
2026/08/28
What if you don’t feel spiritually awakened because you’re looking for the wrong things? Spiritual awakening has become almost competitive. Visions. Kundalini energy. Synchronicities. Repeating numbers. Intuition. Spirit guides. Dark nights of the soul. Extraordinary experiences can absolutely be meaningful, but they may not be the measure of how spiritually awakened you actually are. In this episode, I explore what spiritual awakening has meant across different traditions, including Buddhism, Advaita Vedanta, Taoism, Christian mysticism, Sufism, Kundalini traditions, and Indigenous and shamanic approaches. While these traditions are distinct and shouldn't be collapsed into one belief system, many raise fascinating questions about consciousness, ego, identity, suffering, connection and what it means to awaken. I also bring the conversation into psychology, trauma healing, attachment, neuroscience and somatic work. Because awakening may not be about escaping your human experience at all. It may involve becoming conscious enough to actually be present within it. We talk about spiritual bypassing, why emotions like anger, grief, fear and jealousy aren't evidence that you're “low vibration,” and why healing isn't about immediately turning uncomfortable emotions into positive ones. I share my 4 N's: Name, Notice, Normalize and Nurture, and how they can help us process emotion without suppressing it or allowing it to control what happens next. I also explore something we don't talk about enough: attachment and spirituality. When we suddenly stop feeling connected, seeing signs or having powerful spiritual experiences, we may wonder whether we're blocked, being punished or have somehow lost our connection. But sometimes our attachment system may be responding to the perceived loss of connection and reassurance. And finally, we bring it back to manifestation and alignment. You can consciously want something while another part of you is terrified of it. Your body can contract around it. Your nervous system can experience the required change as unsafe. Your attachment system can associate becoming someone different with losing belonging. Alignment isn't making every part of yourself perfect; it's becoming aware enough that the different layers of you aren't unconsciously fighting one another. Key Takeaways Maybe spiritual awakening isn't about becoming less human so that we can become more spiritual. Maybe it's about becoming present enough within our human experience that we finally have access to all of ourselves — cognitive, emotional, somatic, relational and spiritual — and from there, becoming more capable of experiencing our connection to everything beyond ourselves too. In this episode: What spiritual awakening actually means Buddhism, Advaita Vedanta, Taoism, Christianity and Sufism Kundalini awakening versus spiritual awakening The historical meaning of the Dark Night of the Soul Ego death versus developing a healthy sense of self Trauma, the nervous system and spiritual development Spiritual bypassing and emotional suppression The 4 N's: Name, Notice, Normalize and Nurture Intuition versus nervous-system activation Attachment wounds and our relationship with spirituality Why intense spiritual experiences aren't necessarily evidence of spiritual development Manifestation, alignment and integration What it might really mean to awaken Spiritual awakening isn't a competition. Your awakening doesn't need to look like anyone else's. 073 Dr. Nima Farshid on Emotion, Frequency & the Science of Healing. What if the thing we call energy could be observed, measured and better understood by all!?
2026/08/22
What if the things we call “energy” could actually be observed, measured and better understood? In this episode, Judy sits down with Dr. Nima Farshid of Gaia Healers for a fascinating conversation about the intersection between science, spirituality, emotion and the human energetic system.Nima shares the personal health crisis that changed the direction of his life. After experiencing heart palpitations and being told he may need a pacemaker, he began exploring meditation, sound healing, frequency, Reiki and other holistic practices while using his background in technology and engineering to ask a bigger question: Could the changes he was experiencing actually be measured? That question eventually led him to Bio-Pulsar technology and into years of studying the biofield, meridian systems, colour, frequency and energetic approaches to wellness. Judy and Nima explore what may happen when emotions remain unprocessed, the relationship between stress and the autonomic nervous system, and why healing cannot necessarily be approached the same way for every person. They also dive into some of the more fascinating and controversial areas of energetic healing: colour therapy, auriculotherapy, sound healing, crystals, Vogel crystals and crystal acupuncture. As she often will, Judy brings the conversation back to trauma therapy, Brainspotting and the ways emotional experiences can show up through the body and nervous system. Key Takeaways One of the most interesting threads throughout this conversation is the idea that healing is deeply individual. Nima describes every person as essentially their own universe, shaped by their experiences, conditioning, emotions and perception. There may not be one technique, frequency or modality that is appropriate for everyone. This conversation invites you to stay curious, ask questions and explore the relationship between our emotional, physical and energetic experiences. In this episode you will learn: Nima’s personal journey from a serious heart scare to studying energy and holistic healing The Bio-Pulsar and attempts to measure changes within the human energetic system The biofield, meridians and the idea of the body as an energetic system How thoughts, emotions, stress and our environment may influence how we feel Meditation, breathwork and Nima’s daily practice of intentionally cultivating love Emotional processing and what it means to release what we continue to carry The autonomic nervous system and why a person’s state matters when doing healing work Why healing needs to be individualized rather than applying the same modality to everyone Colour and frequency and Nima’s approach to colour therapy Auriculotherapy and working with points on the ear Crystals, quartz, sacred geometry and crystal acupuncture Sound healing and why Nima believes more is not necessarily better The importance of proper education and training when working with trauma or energetic practices The intersection between spirituality, intuition, technology and science ADHD through an energetic lens Connect with Dr Nima Farshid 🌐 www.manifestationtherapy.com 📸 Instagram: @nima.farshid Facebook : https://www.facebook.com/nima.farshid Connect with Gaia Healers 🌐 https://gaiahealers.com/ Become a practitioner or find one: https://www.gaiapractitioners.com/ Connect with Judy 🌐 www.manifestationtherapy.com 📸 Instagram: @manifestationtherapy 🎙️ The Manifestation Therapy Podcast 📘 Manifestation Therapy®: Universal Principles in Supportive Practice A note to Listeners: This episode explores Dr. Farshid’s personal experiences, theories and approaches to energetic and complementary healing. 072 You were always enough: Where worth comes from and how to shift it with Judy Hawley Manifestation Therapy and Coaching
2026/08/06
Self-worth can seem like it is a reach for some individuals, especially if trauma, criticism, rejection or struggle was a part of developing years. Those threats experienced young play a direct role in creating the belief system about who you are, the emotional resonance of what you feel about being you, the body experience in your nervous systems about being safe just being your true self, and the spiritual connection to the truth of always having been enough. In this episode, Judy explores one of the most common struggles she sees in therapy and coaching: the belief that we are somehow "not enough." Blending neuroscience, attachment theory, nervous system regulation, emotional processing, spirituality, and Manifestation Therapy® and Coaching, she explains how our sense of worth develops, and why it can feel so difficult to change. You'll learn why worth is far more than confidence or self-esteem, how childhood experiences shape the beliefs we carry into adulthood, and why simply telling yourself affirmations often isn't enough to create lasting change. Most importantly, you'll discover that healing isn't about becoming worthy. It's about helping your brain, nervous system, emotions, and spirit reconnect with the worth that has always been there. Key Takeaway: You were not born questioning your worth. Your brain learned beliefs in order to survive not because they were true. Emotions are biological messages that need understanding, not suppression. Your nervous system learns what feels safe through repeated experiences.  Your worth has never depended on achievement, performance or someone else's approval. In this episode we discuss Why self-worth is about much more than confidence and self-esteem The Four Layers of Worth: • Cognitive Worth • Emotional Worth • Nervous System Worth • Spiritual Worth How childhood experiences shape beliefs about who we are, the processing emotionally how we feel about being ourselves, the ongoing nervous system safety in being genuinely who you are, and the spiritual connection of true worthiness The role of the amygdala, hippocampus and prefrontal cortex in developing self-worth Why the brain predicts worth through patterns of safety, connection and belonging Why emotions are biological messages, not problems to eliminate Why affirmations often fail when the nervous system doesn't yet feel safe How Manifestation Therapy® integrates brain science, emotional processing, nervous system regulation and spirituality Why manifestation is often a nervous system issue rather than a worthiness issue About the Podcast The Manifestation Therapy® and Coaching Podcast explores healing, identity shifting, and manifestation through neuroscience, somatics, and universal principles. It's asking, 'Based on everything I've lived through... is it safe to believe that I am?'" Manifestation Therapy® Framework The Four Layers of Worth • Cognitive Worth: The beliefs and stories you hold about yourself. • Emotional Worth: The emotions and experiences that shape how valuable you feel. • Nervous System Worth: Whether your body feels safe enough to exist, receive, belong and be seen. • Spiritual Worth: The understanding that your worth has always been inherent.

069 You are already Magnificent: Healing at the root with Peter McLaughlin of BlueSky Hypnosis
2026/05/28
In this episode, Judy sits down with Peter McLaughlin, hypnotherapist, life coach, and creator of BlueSky Hypnosis, for a powerful conversation about healing trauma at its root, the mind-body-spirit connection, and why you are already more magnificent than you know. Peter shares his remarkable journey from a simultaneous leukemia and Lyme disease diagnosis at 41, with three small kids and a 10-year prognosis over 20 years ago, to becoming a leading voice in hypnotherapy and emotional healing. His story is one of radical self-responsibility, deep inner work, and the belief that the body and mind are far more powerful than we've been taught. This episode is a reminder that the symptoms showing up in your life, whether in your health, relationships, or sense of self, are not the problem. They are simply pointing to one. In this episode we discuss: How a leukemia diagnosis became the catalyst for Peter's entire healing journeyWhy emotional and environmental toxins manifest as physical illnessThe three main areas where unresolved trauma shows up: health, money, and relationshipsWhy Peter focuses on root cause healing rather than surface level fixesHow hypnotherapy and past life regression help resolve trauma that talk therapy can't reachThe connection between feeling already loved and transforming your relationshipsWhy Peter works with individuals rather than couples for relationship repaiHow cleaning up your side of the street changes everything in a partnershipThe warts story and what it reveals about the mind's power over the bodyWhat's next: Relationship Reboot and his upcoming weight loss program Key Takeaway: Root cause healing vs. symptom management. Leukemia, Lyme disease, and the mind-body connection. Hypnotherapy and past life regression. Trauma, belief systems, and emotional patterns. Relationships and the law of cause and effect. 068 Grounding: The truth about what it is, mind, body and spirit.
2026/05/14
In this episode, Judy breaks down one of the most important and misunderstood concepts in healing and personal growth; grounding. Not just as a calming technique, but as a multidimensional practice that works through your body, mind, emotions, and spirit simultaneously. In This Episode: The four distinct types of grounding;  physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual and why each one matters differently The real difference between mindfulness and grounding, and why that distinction is critical in trauma recovery How your amygdala, prefrontal cortex, and vagus nerve work together and how grounding literally rewires your nervous system's threat response Why you don't need an intensely traumatic childhood for survival reactions to run your life The neuroscience behind your emotions dopamine, serotonin, cortisol, GABA, and oxytocin explained in plain language Why 90% of serotonin is produced in your gut and what that means for mood, regulation, and emotional processing The insula and the gut-brain connection the neuroscience of intuition and why your body knows before your mind does How spiritual grounding is different from all other forms and why it is the missing piece that makes manifestation real rather than conceptual Why people visualize but never change and what grounding has to do with it How to become the bridge between earth energy and divine source through intentional spiritual grounding Key Takeaway: Physical grounding and nervous system safety. Mental grounding and present moment anchoring. Emotional grounding and the space between feeling and reaction. The amygdala, survival instinct, and trauma response. Neurotransmitters and emotional regulation, dopamine, serotonin, cortisol, GABA, oxytocin. The insula and its role with intuition. Earthing; the science of connecting barefoot to the earth to ground. Spiritual grounding through shamanic ceremony, Kundalini activation, pranic energy, and channeling. 067: Barbara Banner: Psychic Medium on Healing with Laughter
2026/05/05
In this episode, I sit down with psychic medium Barbara Banner, whose path into mediumship began later in life after decades spent supporting individuals through trauma, crisis, and grief. What unfolds is a conversation that moves beyond the idea of “loss” and into something deeper; connection, trust, and the possibility that relationships don’t actually end. We explore what it means to trust intuitive information, how humour and laughter play a role in healing, and why shifting from grief into love can change how we experience those we’ve lost. This episode is both light and deeply meaningful; filled with unexpected moments, powerful stories, and reflections that challenge how we think about healing, death, and the continuation of connection. In This Episode: Barbara’s journey into mediumship in her 60s and how it unfolded Working in crisis response, trauma, and grief and how that shaped her path Learning to trust intuitive messages (even when they don’t make sense) The role of humour and laughter in healing Why grief is not meant to keep us stuck in pain, but to reveal love How shifting emotional states can impact connection and perception Memorable client stories that challenge logic and deepen belief The importance of openness vs. skepticism in spiritual experiences Daily grounding practices and managing energetic capacity Manifestation, belief, and why authenticity matters The evolving collective openness to spirituality and unseen realities Key Takeaway: Healing isn’t only about processing pain, it’s also about allowing joy back in. Laughter can be a powerful physiological and emotional reset when trust develops through action, not certainty. Emotional state influences perception, connection, and openness. Grief and love are deeply intertwined; one reflects the depth of the other. 066 What Timeline Shifting Really Is: Healing, Identity, and Coherence for Change
2026/04/28
In This Episode: In this expansive and deeply personal episode, Judy Hawley explores the true meaning of timeline shifting through the lenses of trauma healing, neuroscience, spirituality, nervous system regulation, and manifestation. Rather than presenting timeline shifting as an overnight magical escape, Judy explains how real transformation happens when we become internally different enough that a new future becomes available. Judy shares how old survival patterns, unresolved trauma, emotional wounds, and familiar subconscious beliefs can keep people repeating the same experiences, even when they deeply desire change. This episode breaks down why desire alone is often not enough, and why healing the body, processing emotion, shifting identity, and taking aligned action are essential parts of creating a new reality. Judy also speaks openly about her own lived experiences with timeline shifting, including synchronicities, unexpected opportunities, changes in relationships, subtle reality shifts, and moments that challenged her understanding of what is possible. Through personal stories and client insights, she offers a grounded yet spiritually open perspective on how transformation can unfold. This episode is for anyone who feels stuck, senses there is more available for them, or wants to understand how healing and manifestation can work together in a real and meaningful way. Key Takeaway: What timeline shifting really means Why change must feel safe in the nervous system How trauma patterns shape future experiences Why people repeat what is familiar The role of identity in transformation Emotional processing and moving stored energy Why treating symptoms alone may not create deep change The difference between survival and alignment Subtle vs dramatic timeline shifts Synchronicities, relationships, and new opportunities Judy’s personal timeline shift experiences Practical questions to help shift your own life Timeline shifting is not about escaping your life. It is about transforming the self who is living it. When healing, identity, emotion, nervous system safety, and action align, the future begins to change.
