Micro Ways we Micromanage Others
2026/09/25
You might not think you micromanage your spouse—but what about the tiny corrections, reminders, follow-ups, facial commentary, unsolicited advice, and “helpful” suggestions? 😂 In this episode, we’re looking at the subtle ways we can slip from relating to our spouse into managing them—and how those small habits can unintentionally communicate, I don’t trust you to handle your own half. Not everything on this list is always wrong. The goal is simply to notice when helping has quietly turned into monitoring, correcting, supervising, or carrying responsibility that belongs to another adult. More Proud Than When She Won: a lesson on grit & resilience
2026/09/18
In this episode, I’m talking about what disappointment can form in us when we let it build grit instead of take us out — and why some of the biggest wins in our lives won’t look like winning at all. If you’re in a hard season that’s requiring you to keep getting back up, this one is for you. This fall, my daughter has gone for some things she really wanted… and didn’t get them. She wasn’t chosen. She didn’t make the team. Things didn’t unfold the way she hoped. And somehow, I’ve never been more proud of her. Nervous System Regulation ( for normal people :)
2026/09/09
Nervous system regulation is everywhere right now—but what does it actually look like in normal, everyday life? What if self control starts with your nervous system?! In this episode, Jenna is breaking it down into baby steps. No neuroscience degree required. 😂 We’re talking about the simple idea of regulate first, process second—why sometimes your body needs a little help before you can think clearly, process an emotion, pray through what’s happening, or have the conversation. Jenna shares some of the tools that work for her—from movement and cold exposure to music, sunshine, breathing, and connection—and how different nervous system states may need different kinds of support. You’ll also learn how to start building your own regulation menu by asking: Am I high, low, charged, or disconnected—and what tends to help me move back toward a workable middle? And importantly: regulate first doesn’t mean regulate instead. The goal isn’t to avoid hard emotions or bypass what needs to be addressed. It’s learning how to help your body get into a state where you can actually deal with it well. Consider this your beginner-friendly invitation to get curious about your body, experiment with what works for you, and add a few practical regulation tools to your habit toolbox. Type B Without Shame
2026/09/01
What if the goal isn’t to finally become the organized, detail-oriented, always-on-time person you keep thinking you should be? And what if “that’s just how my brain works” isn’t the answer either? After a particularly humbling month of calendar fails, Jenna started asking a different question: What if I stopped demanding that my brain “try harder” and started building systems that actually work for the brain I have? This conversation goes way beyond productivity. It’s about the surprising relational cost of our habits, the parts of ourselves we genuinely need to grow up, and the beautiful parts we may have accidentally been trying to get rid of along the way. Because maybe maturity isn’t becoming less like yourself. Maybe it’s learning to steward yourself so well that the best parts of who God made you to be can come out more freely. Mature it. Don’t murder it. Click to join interest list  --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Triggers Should Fade as We Heal
2026/08/24
Your triggers don’t have to be a life sentence. I’m Jenna Zint, and I’m talking about the surprising sign of real emotional healing: the things that used to flood you start to lose their grip. When we treat triggers like “forever,” we often build bigger walls, demand perfect fairness, or wait for the other person to finally apologize. But what if triggers are more like an allergy you can slowly outgrow with the Holy Spirit, one offensively small habit at a time? I share a personal, decade-long story of watching my relationship with my mom transform in ways my teenage self would never have believed. The turning point wasn’t a dramatic confrontation or a sudden personality overhaul. It was annual, practical “homework” God gave me before family visits: stop getting defensive about requests, receive feedback without trashing it because of tone, breathe through the surge, and don’t speak until I’m regulated. Over time, those small habit adjustments changed my half of the pattern and created a whole new relational culture. We also dig into why healing is not just noticing dysfunction, but becoming free enough that you don’t have to participate in the same relational dance anymore. I talk about letting go of the need for an apology before reconnecting, stopping the personal sting by recognizing patterns as mechanisms, and trading complaint for “50 cents of compassion” so you can stay grounded and soft-hearted. If you care about Christian emotional health, sanctification, boundaries, nervous system regulation, and practical habits for better relationships, this one is for you. Waiting Is Holy Business: When God Doesn’t Meet Your Timeline
2026/08/17
What if God answers a prayer… 25 years after you prayed it? I’ve been thinking about the invisible deadlines we put on God. We pray. We hope. Maybe we even receive a promise or prophetic word. And without realizing it, we start deciding what the answer should look like—and when it should happen. Then that window closes. And we call it disappointment. This summer, in the middle of real grief for my family, something happened that stopped me in my tracks. I found myself watching a scene I had prayed for as a teenager—one I had long ago stopped expecting to ever see. It made me wonder: How many things have we decided God didn’t do simply because He didn’t do them on our timeline? In this episode, we’re talking about the two expectations hiding underneath so much of our disappointment with God: how we think He should answer and when we think He should answer. And Scripture, it turns out, is full of people who had to wait far longer than we tend to remember when we quote the promise. If you’re waiting for reconciliation, healing, provision, clarity—or something you’ve almost stopped praying for—this episode is for you. Maybe God hasn’t missed the window. Maybe the window was ours. Click to join interest list  --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What story is your closet telling?
2026/08/05
Your closet isn't just storing clothes—it's storing stories about who you think you are. In this episode, Jenna Zint shares her journey from barely caring about clothes to overthinking every outfit, and how she found freedom in a healthier middle ground. We explore the difference between vanity and dignity, why dressing the body you have today is an act of respect, and how your wardrobe can either reinforce old beliefs or support the life you're trying to build. Plus, Jenna shares simple, practical habits to make getting dressed easier—from reducing closet clutter and creating effortless outfits to building a low-pressure hand-me-down culture with friends. If you're ready for your clothes to support your life instead of complicating it, this episode is for you. Episode 92: Risk a little awkwardness...To Speak Life!
2026/05/20
I dare you to Risk A Little Weirdness... To Speak Life. If you’ve ever replayed a kind thought in your head and then talked yourself out of saying it, this conversation is for you.  I’m sharing one of my oldest, most practical habits, born in a high school journaling moment and refined over decades of real life:  ...if you think something nice, say it! Not later. Not once it feels “smooth.”  Now, while it still costs a little awkwardness. We get honest about what’s really going on when we stay silent.   It’s usually not a lack of love, it’s self-consciousness and fear of being perceived as weird. I walk through the two rules that make this habit doable: deliver it quickly before the stakes rise, and don’t require a reaction for it to “count.” Encouragement is not a transaction. It’s sowing seeds of life, calling out character, and reinforcing kingdom values in everyday places like grocery stores, parking lots, and school hallways. You’ll also hear why I think this is the lowest-hanging fruit of the gospel, plus a personal story about Aaron reading four pages of kind words as he practiced this habit and how that moment helped shape our relationship. I leave you with a simple, concrete challenge: try it twice a day and watch what shifts in your heart, your courage, and your community. If this helped you, subscribe, share it with a friend who overthinks, and leave a review so more people can find Habit Lab. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Episode 91: Manage Your Mouth:- you can tell the truth WITHOUT losing self-control
2026/05/12
Your mouth can build safety or burn it down, and the shift happens fast.  One second you’re trying to talk things through, the next you feel flooded and you want to “just tell the truth” in a way you already know it's going to leave some scars. I walk through a simple, practice-ready habit for managing your mouth when your nervous system is lit up and the pressure to speak feels urgent.  We unpack why so many fights go from controlled to chaotic, and why labeling a loss of restraint as “honest feedback” is usually a cover for reacting, punishing, or trying to force understanding.  There are two anchor phrases I use in real time:  “It’s always my job to manage me,” and  “They are never my standard or my source.”  When I’m triggered, I re-center on Jesus as the standard, look for a Gospel moment where He understands betrayal, misunderstanding, loneliness, or injustice, and let that empathy steady me so I can re-enter the conversation without making a bigger mess.  If this helps you, subscribe, share it with a friend who needs calmer conflict, and leave a review so more people can find Habit Lab. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Episode 90: How to raise considerate humans (without nagging or lectures)
2026/04/29
If you want to change your family culture, talking about values isn’t enough—your systems have to reinforce them.  In this episode, I share how we used simple habit principles to shift our home from criticism to consideration—and how you can do the same. (Shout out to my Oklahomies for inspiring this habit!) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Episode 89: Holy Spirit = the cheat sheet to habits that self help doesn't have
2026/04/13
There’s a way of building habits that feels heavy… and there’s a way that feels like partnership. In this episode, I’m sharing what it looks like to build habits with the Holy Spirit—where you don’t have to strive, guess, or overhaul your entire life overnight. Instead, you can:  Ask for wisdom  Start small  Stay consistent  And trust God to multiply what you bring Because the truth is, your effort was never meant to be enough on its own. If you’re craving sustainable change, deeper formation, and a way forward that actually feels aligned with your faith, this conversation will meet you right where you are. Episode 88: How-to Start a Discipleship Group for kids
2026/04/06
Your kid has friends. They might even go to youth group. But there’s still this quiet question: Who is actually helping shape their character? Because middle school gets loud. And while church and youth group matter… they can’t carry the full weight of discipleship, life skills, and identity. And if you’re honest— trying to do all of that by yourself as a parent feels… like a lot. 👉 CLICK here for the checklist to start a discipleship group In this episode, Jenna Zint sits down with her friend Brandi Haskins to talk about a different approach: What if you didn’t do this alone? What if you built a small village of trusted moms who are intentionally shaping their girls together? We talk about what that actually looks like in real life— not overwhelming, not hyper-spiritual, not another thing to do perfectly… Just a simple, consistent space where girls: – build real relationships with safe adults – learn how to walk with God in everyday life – grow in confidence, character, and connection This isn’t about raising perfect kids. It’s about creating an environment where they’re known, guided, and grounded—especially in the years where it matters most. If you’ve been wishing for more support, more intentionality, or just a plan that feels doable… this conversation will give you a place to start.   Click to join interest list  --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Friendship Files #7- Staying at the Table When You’re Hurt
2026/03/25
In this episode, we’re talking about one of the most common sources of pain in friendship: disappointment & misunderstandings. Not blatant betrayal. Not obvious sin. But the everyday moments where expectations don’t match reality… and something in you feels hurt, unseen, or misunderstood. Most relational tension isn’t as dramatic as we make it. It’s often disappointment + misunderstanding working together. So what do you do when someone doesn’t show up the way you hoped? When you feel the gap between what you expected and what actually happened? In this episode, we’re unpacking how to: • recognize disappointment before it turns into offense • separate what actually happened from the story you’re telling • stay emotionally steady when you feel misunderstood • have honest conversations without over-explaining • hold both disappointment and compassion at the same time Because maturity in friendship isn’t avoiding disappointment— it’s learning how to metabolize it and stay connected anyway. If you’ve ever felt hurt in a relationship but didn’t want to walk away, this episode will give you language, perspective, and practical steps to grow your capacity. Friendship Files #6: Boundaries That Protect Connection
2026/03/05
Most people picture boundaries like walls—something harsh that shuts people out. But what if boundaries are actually edits that protect generosity so love can last? In this episode, Jenna reframes boundaries through the lens of habit coaching: just like we edit habits to make them sustainable, we sometimes need to edit our generosity and relational rhythms so they don’t collapse under resentment. When generosity stretches beyond our honest capacity, bitterness often begins to grow quietly in the background. Healthy boundaries aren’t meant to punish people—they’re meant to protect connection. You’ll hear about: • Why resentment often reveals a crossed value or an unspoken limit • Why boundaries are better understood as edits to your “yes” • Signs you may need a boundary adjustment in a relationship • How to offer the yes you actually have instead of shutting people down Healthy boundaries don’t shrink your world—they help keep generosity joyful and relationships sustainable.
