How To Stop Blocking the Rest You Need
2026/10/02
Send us Fan Mail The most frustrating part about rest isn’t learning that you need it. It’s realizing you might be the one blocking it.  Today, I’m bringing a quick, practical mini-episode inspired by a recent post I made on Instagram that hit a nerve: the person most often standing in the way of you taking a break is you.  If that made you feel called out, good. Not because you should feel bad about it, but because you have the power to change it. On today’s episode, we dig into why guilt, perfectionism, and “I don’t have time” can sound like facts even when they’re just stories your brain creates and repeats. Then I teach a simple 3-step framework I call The Shift that can help you navigate these thoughts and get you on the road to taking the break that you need. If you’ve been waiting for permission to pause, consider this your sign. If you'd like to go deeper, this free stress management workshop that I ran in the Spring can help. Leadership Takes Work...ing on Yourself with Dr. Jess Bunin
2026/09/10
Send us Fan Mail At any moment, whether we have a title or not, we are leading ourselves. And, as today’s guest Dr. Jess Bunin reminds us in this conversation, “at all times, we are leaders and followers.” However, leadership is not an innate trait. It’s not something that we have or don’t have. It’s something that we need to work on if we want to get better. In this episode of the Humans Leading podcast, Dr. Bunin shares her journey to leadership, the importance of having a feedback partner, the 4 categories she uses to handle feedback, developing self-awareness, the importance of trust, and her new book, “Self-Awareness and Trust: Leading Healthcare Teams from the Inside Out.” This conversation was so energizing for me, and I know that you’ll love it too. If Lost Start Here with Claire Fitzsimmons
2026/08/21
Send us Fan Mail You’ve been taught that the solution to all your problems is outside of you: one more strategy, one more routine, one more expert. But what if I told you that the real solution is trusting that you already know more about your life than the “experts” you’ve been looking to for answers? Yes. It’s true. You’re already the expert in your own life, even if you don’t believe it yet. In today’s conversation, I’m joined by coach, writer, and well-being founder Claire Fitzsimmons for a warm, wide-ranging conversation about how to believe in your own inner wisdom, career pivots, learning to tolerate discomfort, addressing perfectionism, play, and the wonderful book that she co-wrote.   We talk about why being “the expert in your own life” doesn’t mean you can solve everything. It means you learn to tolerate discomfort, stay in the questions, and make choices that fit your capacity, your body, and your actual day. If this resonates, subscribe for more conversations on stress management, burnout recovery, and sustainable well-being. I’d love it if you shared the episode with a friend who feels overwhelmed, and, for bonus points, please leave a rating and review so more people can find the show. Your Dreams Deserve More Attention with Janet Tanguay
2026/07/30
Send us Fan Mail Vision boards can sound like arts and craft time for out-of-touch people, but they’re actually a practical tool for your brain, your boundaries, and your burnout recovery.  In this episode of the podcast, I sit down with Janet Tanguay, SBA certified business advisor and CEO of Hammock Way of Life, to break down why vision boarding works for analytical, high-achieving people who want real change and a life they don't need a vacation from.  Janet calls her method “when science meets woo,” and we dig into what that looks like when you’re trying to build a meaningful life while also juggling work, family, and constant mental load.  Janet shares examples from corporate leaders, entrepreneurs, and everyday clients, plus the common mistakes that quietly sabotage goals.  We also go deep on the habits that make the vision real: small actions, accountability, breaking routines, and protecting time for yourself with clear boundaries.  If you’re burned out or stuck, this conversation offers a grounded way to start dreaming again without needing to overhaul your whole life.  You can find out more about Janet's work and connect with her here: Website: Hammock Way of LifeAmazon: janet tanguayIG: www.instagram.com/hammockwayoflife Facebook: www.facebook.com/hammockwayoflife LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/jazzyjan TikTok: www.tiktok.com/JazzyCEO You can also find me here: Blog: Humans Leading | Jillian BybeeInstagram: Jillian Bybee, MD (@lifeandpicu)LinkedIn: Jillian Bybee, MD | LinkedIn Threads: @LifeandPICUWebsite: Contact — Jillian Bybee, MD (jillianbybeemd.com) If you’re ready to kickstart your journey (or your team's journey) to a less stressed life, I’m ready to help you! If You're Not Choosing to Change, You're Choosing to Stay Stuck
2026/07/24
Send us Fan Mail If you feel like you’re drowning in responsibilities and telling yourself “there’s no way I can change right now,” this short message is for you: if you’re not choosing to change, you’re choosing to stay stuck.  Not because you’re lazy or broken, but because your brain is doing what it was built to do, keep you safe, even when “safe” means suffering. If you are looking to change and would like some support, I would love to chat about how my burnout recovery coaching might be a fit for you. You can get in touch through my website. Rewriting the Stories We Tell Ourselves
2026/05/08
Send us Fan Mail Does your brain like to make up stories that are keeping you stuck? These stories (aka limiting beliefs or unhelpful beliefs) can be the source of significant stress in your life and often keep you from making the changes you wish to make. In this episode, Dr. Bybee shares a personal story about how this was showing up for her recently and how listening to a Humans Leading episode from Season 1 helped her.  She's also bringing back that powerful conversation with mindset trainer and psychotherapist Caroline Ferguson to help you learn to hear the self-talk that quietly drives stress, burnout, and reactivity in your own life.  You'll learn how to spot the hidden stories behind our emotions and use simple tools to respond with more calm, clarity, and choice.  If you'd like some support to go deeper in this work, Dr. Bybee will be holding a free stress management workshop on May 27th from 7-8pm eastern time called “Transform Your Day: 3 Simple Strategies for Stress Management.”  In the workshop, you'll learn to identify limiting beliefs you have around self-care and stress management and begin to transform them. These beliefs can cause us so much stress and keep us stuck, as Dr. Bybee has seen in her own life.  By writing different, more helpful stories for ourselves, we can put ourselves on the path to a less-stressed, more satisfying life. If that sounds helpful for you, you can register by going to jillianbybeemd.com or here.  Where to find Caroline: Substack: Something More You can also find me here: Blog: Humans Leading | Jillian BybeeInstagram: Jillian Bybee, MD (@lifeandpicu)LinkedIn: Jillian Bybee, MD | LinkedIn Threads: @LifeandPICUWebsite: Contact — Jillian Bybee, MD (jillianbybeemd.com) If you’re ready to kickstart your journey (or your team's journey) to a less stressed life, I’m ready to help you!
