There was a time when Porsche occasionally helped other car makers out. Everyone knows about the Mercedes-Benz 500E, but another such example is the Opel Zafira. Yes, Porsche played a role in developing Opel’s seven-seat MPV, and it didn’t stop there… We cover that in this week’s podcast, and we also delve into one of Japan's ultimate “what if?” supercars: the Yamaha OX99-11. This 3.5-litre V12-powered beauty had tandem seating, a 349km/h top speed and would have been remarkably expensive. Unsurprisingly, it never happened. Every so often, a car comes along that sets a new standard for performance, or in this case, efficiency. As a well-known fan of the Volkswagen XL1, Dave runs us through the Mission Efficiency in this week’s podcast, a one-off car that sets a new standard for what a near-production electric car can do. In stark contrast, Cormac looks back at the audacious Cadillac Sixteen concept car shown above.
