The day your business grows up
2026/10/12
There's a particular day that comes along for every business owner, where everything changes.
It's kind of a bittersweet day because it leaves you excited about opportunities in the future but also makes you realise that you have reached the end of something.
What is this day and why is it so important that every MSP reaches it? Let's discuss in today's Monday motivation.
Paul's 5 min Monday Motivation for 12th October 2026
You're never too small to have a growth strategy
2026/10/05
You probably have ambitious goals that you want to reach, right? And you probably have a bunch of marketing tactics that you use.
But often when I speak to MSPs, I realise they're missing the bit inbetween those things: a strategy.
Do you have one for your business? No matter what size you are, whether you're a one-person band or there are 500 employees, you need a growth strategy.
And that's what we're going to explore in today's Monday Motivation.
Paul's 5 min Monday Motivation for 5th October 2026
Your clients don't buy IT support. They buy sleep at night
2026/09/28
Sometimes when you're really busy it's really easy to forget what you're really selling.
You're not selling IT support, strategic advice, or the other things that you actually deliver to your clients.
What you're selling them is peace of mind. That's the most valuable thing and you have to remember that's the thing they're judging you on: how well they sleep at night because they're working with you.
What do you think about this? Let's explore this in today's Monday Motivation.
Paul's 5 min Monday Motivation for 28th September 2026
Nobody ever looked back and wished they'd played it safer
2026/09/21
I promise not to be morose about this but in today's podcast we're looking at the end... and I mean the end of you!!
When you reach the end (and we all hope that's many, many, many years away), what are you going to look back and regret?
I can tell you now, I bet you're not going to look back and wish you'd played it safer. I bet you'll look back and wish you'd tried and failed at more stuff, done more things, taken more risks.
What do you think? Let's explore this in today's Monday Motivation.

The loneliness of being the boss
2026/09/14
It's only when you are the owner of the business that you realise just how lonely it is at the top.
Have you experienced this? You can be surrounded by people and yet still feel alone, because none of your staff ever quite understand what it's really like to have all the responsibility on your shoulders.
Sure you get a load of the upsides when the business is performing well. But the price of this is taking on almost all of the downsides.
If you're feeling this way, it's really important you understand that you are not alone. Every other MSP owner, and in fact any business owner in the world, would understand how you feel.
Let's explore this in today's Monday Motivation.

The life-changing power of the compound effect
2026/09/07
I'm sure you're familiar with the concept of compound effect, when you think about interest in your bank account.
The way I explained it to my 16 year old is that compound interest is like a snowball rolling downhill. It lets you earn returns not just on your original money, but also on the interest you've already accumulated. Which makes your savings grow faster and faster over time.
But did you know that the compound effect doesn't just affect your bank account? It can also affect the way you grow your MSP...
Let's explore this in today's Monday Motivation.

Getting it done always beats making it perfect
2026/08/31
Have you heard of the concept of Minimal Viable Product? It's where a SaaS company launches the first iteration of their software just to get it out there and get people using it.
The idea is that it's better to ship something than delay it for another year and make it "perfect" (not that software is ever really finished, is it?).
I believe you should take this approach to all your MSP's projects, especially marketing ones. Perfect is an unachievable goal... where as "getting it done" both achieves big things and makes you feel good.
Let's explore this in today's Monday Motivation.

Clients don't leave because of price. They leave because of this
2026/08/24
We're talking retention today, and especially why clients leave your MSP. Yes, I know just the thought of this strikes fear into your very soul.
But it's important we discuss it. Because clients rarely (if ever) leave just because of something like your prices going up. There's a much bigger reason they are more likely to switch to another MSP.
And the good news is, it's an emotional reason. Which means you can head it off long before it does any damage to your relationship with them.
Let's explore this in today's Monday Motivation.

Your team doesn't need you to be perfect. They need you to be consistent.
2026/08/17
As the owner and leader of the business, we are the Mom or Dad to our staff.
Yes I really believe this! And I don't mean in that we have to tell them what to do all the time. That's not what good parenting is.
Good parenting is nurturing and leading and I see a lot of parallels between someone growing a team and someone being a parent (especially if you have teenagers).
And the even better news is: you don't have to be perfect but you DO have to be consistent. That counts as both the leader and the parent.
Let's explore this in today's Monday Motivation.

The past version of you, would be proud of you today
2026/08/10
Tell me... how often do you stop and look back at what you've achieved and give yourself a congratulatory slap on the back?
Probably not very often. And yet I think as busy business owners we should do this on a regular basis.
Because it's far too easy to live in the problems of today, rather than look at our business through the eyes of the person we used to be when we started it.
That person would be really proud of what you've achieved... don't you think?
Let's explore this in today's Monday Motivation.

Every wrong path gets you closer to the right path
2026/08/03
Building a business is a slog, right? There's always something that needs to be fixed or changed or improved.
And when you're taking the business in new directions, what makes it harder is there's no roadmap to follow. The first time you do something is always the hardest.
And that means you make mistakes. You go down wrong paths. I don't actually see this as a bad thing. In fact I believe you have to go down the wrong paths to discover which the right path is.
Let's explore this in today's Monday Motivation.

You're really not as "behind "as you think
2026/07/27
Sometimes I speak to members and they are highly emotional about where they're at with their business.
And that's understandable. I've been a business owner for 20 years myself, and I do understand that it's everything to us in a way.
But sometimes when we look at what other people are doing and compare it to our own progress, we're just making our life unintentionally harder. We're comparing apples with oranges.
It's the same as comparing your life to what you're seeing your friends post on Facebook and Instagram. The reality is you're not seeing an accurate snapshot of what's REALLY happening in their lives.
Let's explore this in today's Monday Motivation.

The best leaders don't have all the answers
2026/07/20
Are you the one person in your business that everyone turns to when they have a problem? And I don't mean just escalating tech issues.
I mean everything, from the fridge being out of milk to how to handle a client asking something slightly unusual.
It's a common curse of the business owner where our team assume that we have all the answers. Of course you and I know that we don't. But we do have all the questions. And to me that's more important.
Let me explain what I mean in today's Monday Motivation.
Paul's 5 min Monday Motivation for 20th July 2026
Complaints are the most important feedback you'll ever get
2026/07/13
Almost every single business owner hates complaints. And that's because the business is a reflection of us.
It's our baby. It's our personal identity. When someone complains and we agree with that complaint, that's like someone stabbing us in the heart.
And yet there's a different way of thinking about complaints. What if actually you should be encouraging them because they're insanely useful feedback that can help you make the business better?
Let's explore that in today's Monday Motivation.
Paul's 5 min Monday Motivation for 13th July 2026
You don't need more time. You need fewer options
2026/07/06
If you got to the back end of last week and yet again, for what felt like the 457th week in a row, you hadn't achieved everything you wanted to achieved... then you probably finished the week frustrated. Again.
The thing is you're not alone in this. Most business owners, and especially MSPs, feel that frustration, because there never seems to be quite enough time to do all the things you want to do.
I believe that's looking at it the wrong way. And actually you should be reducing down the number of things that you could do.
Let's explore that in today's Monday Motivation
