12.0 - Charles Watson-Wentworth, 2nd Marquess of Rockingham (Part 3): “The Prime Minister Who Said Yes to American Independence"
2026/09/27
Sixteen years after we left him, the Marquess of Rockingham is back. After North failed to pacify the colonies with either diplomacy or force, Rockingham was once again offered the reins of government. But before he would take the job, he had one condition: America would be independent. The Whigs were back in charge with a decade's worth of reforms ready to go. But would Rockingham's second act be the start of a new Whig era, or just a brief interruption?
Featuring John & Rob from Prime Time (www.primetimepod.com) performing our Picture This: Lord Rockingham in… The Adventure of the Cragg Vale Coiners!

11.5 - Frederick North, Lord North (Part 3) - "The Man Who Lost America"
2026/09/09
The tea is in the harbor and the drums of war are beating. Frederick North takes on his greatest challenge as the American colonists rebel, transforming a politician more at home in the Treasury into the architect of Britain's colonial campaign. We know how the story ends, but we have a more important question: Was it his fault?

The Battle of Bunker Hill (Boston Bedtime #2)
2026/08/11
British troops controlled Boston, but the city's almost island-like geography made it more a prison than a staging-ground. Desperate to break out, they crossed the water to storm the heights of Charlestown — where colonial militia had dug in overnight — in the clash we call the Battle of Bunker Hill. I tell Abram the tale as our second bedtime story.

The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere - The Real One (Boston Bedtime #1)
2026/08/05
Listen, my podcast subscribers, and you shall hear… Joe tucks Abram in with a true history bedtime story: the Midnight Ride of Paul Revere — the real one, arrest and all. The first of three little Boston "minisodes" leading up to Frederick North, Part 3, and the American Revolution.

11.4 - The Boston Tea Party - The Start of the American Revolution
2026/07/20
After a period of relative peace in the colonies, the dominoes falling to revolution started not in Boston, but in India, where British mismanagement led to famine and ruin, with economic ripples around the empire. Seeking to prevent a disaster, Lord North's Tea Act gave the East India Company a monopoly... and the American colonists a target to strike. It was time to throw a tea party.

Fred & George III: Friends that Lost an Empire (Intelligent Speech 2026 Presentation)
2026/06/07
After a series of failed Prime Ministers, King George III finally found a friend that he could rely on in Frederick North, Lord North. In our IS2026 presentation, we explore their special (perhaps kinship?) relationship and how that shaped the American Revolution.
(The Q&A at the end is the best part!)

11.3 - Frederick North, Lord North (Part 2) - "The Good Years"
2026/05/26
As Grafton’s government collapsed, Lord North became the last "adult in the room". He lacked the charisma and wealth of his predecessors, but somehow held Britain’s government together better than anyone expected. He navigated crisis after crisis, even winning Chatham's grudging praise: "This tenure seems to be a good one."
Shame about all that tea in Boston Harbor.

11.2 - The Boston Massacre (The Incident on King Street)
2026/05/05
By 1770, Boston was a city under siege. British Redcoats patrolled the streets while patriot groups like the Sons of Liberty fought a shadow war against British taxation. Tensions rose to a breaking point in March 1770 in an event that some call the first shots of the American Revolution: The Boston Massacre. We attempt to tell the story... from the British perspective.
In far away London, a newly minted Prime Minister North is just settling into his new role.

The Beatles (Hosted by Abram)
2026/04/01
They might not have been bigger than Jesus, but they certainly were bigger than Robert Walpole, William Pitt, or Harold Wilson: they were "The Beatles". In this very special episode, Abram takes the microphone and whisks us into a magical mystery tour of Beatles history from their start as the Quarrymen to a very special rooftop concert, and all of the multi-colored aquatic conveyances in between.

11.1 - Frederick North, Lord North (Part 1): "The Adult in the Room"
2026/03/23
Frederick North spent his childhood in the Leicester House orbit as a playmate of the young George III, a boy with whom he shared an uncanny resemblance. As an adult, he proved himself a man of order, conviction, and fiscal diligence. After a decade of unstable governments, George III called on his old companion to steady the ship of state. But with Britain facing imperial crisis and Boston nearing a deadly confrontation, could a “competent administrator” stop a revolution?

11.0 - Britain in 1770 - On the Eve of the American Revolution (The Story So Far...)
2026/02/09
By 1770, Britain is a restless empire—troubled at home, strained abroad, and on the brink of a new era. In this special episode, we trace the leaders and events that shaped British politics over the past fifty years: from Robert Walpole’s "notorious corruption" to Henry Pelham’s steady hand, and the uneasy balance between King George III, Parliament, and this new thing called "Prime Minister". The empire had doubled in size in a generation, but with a spark about to ignite in snowy Boston that will change everything.
New to Prime Factors? This is the perfect place to start as we begin our journey into the era of Lord North and the American Revolution.

10.2 - Augustus Fitzroy, 3rd Duke of Grafton (Part 2): "Has Anyone Seen the Prime Minister?"
2026/01/19
Britain is in crisis: Rioters in London scream "Wilkes and Liberty!", while the French threaten to take Corsica from the British-backed rebels. The conservative Bedford faction gains ground in Parliament, while Junius savages the administration with his wisdom and wit. Where is Prime Minister Grafton? Has anyone seen our Prime Minister?
(He's probably off with his mistress.)

10.1 - Augustus Fitzroy, 3rd Duke of Grafton (Part 1): "The Duke Who Preferred Horses (and Mistresses)"
2026/01/06
Descended from an illegitimate son of Charles II, the Grafton clan seemed to embrace the ignominy, leading lives rocked in equal parts by political power and scandal. Augustus Fitzroy led a comfortable life filled with horses, hunting, and... women, but when duty called, could he put aside his family's proclivities to be the leader that Britain desperately needed?

9.3 - William Pitt the Elder, 1st Earl of Chatham (Part 3): "Great Commoner No More"
2025/12/07
The Seven Years' War bought Britain an empire but at a staggering price. The Americans cried out "No Taxation Without Representation!" even as Britain struggled to pay to maintain her new territory. Grenville and Rockingham's missteps had pushed the colonists to the brink. It would take a true man of the people, a "Great Commoner", like William Pitt to restore calm. If only his gout wasn't acting up...

9.2 - William Pitt the Elder, 1st Earl of Chatham (Part 2): "The Great Commoner & Hero to the People"
2025/11/17
"My Lord, I am sure I can save this country, and no one else can." Britain was losing the Seven Years War and the Duke of Newcastle seemed powerless to stop it. William Pitt had been drummed out of government once, but the mobs in the street still cried out his name. No one had more faith in his abilities than Pitt himself, but could the Great Commoner turn the tide and deliver the British Empire to its greatest victories?
