"New" Defender used market, upgraded 110 vs. Grenadier and Land Rover pizzas
2026/10/21
In this week's episode, Steve is fresh back from the Ripon Autojumble, where he met some notable Land Rover characters and saw some great vehicles. If you came along, thank you very much, and if (like Martin) you missed out, it's the Malvern Autojumble this Sunday!
The boys debate whether Defender L663s are becoming affordable on the used market, and how Grenadiers fit into the current 4x4 landscape. Are you better off building a "classic" Defender 110 with all the bells and whistles, or buying an Ineos? What do you think?
Elsewhere, a listener shares their Land Rover story culminating in a successful Land Rover catering business, and the boys answer the question – what is the best do-it-all Land Rover for 15 grand?
As always, we love to get your questions and feedback. Be sure to drop us an email on [email protected],uk – enjoy the episode!
Plumber Steve, anti-roll bar myths busted and can you get a Land Rover for £1500?
2026/10/14
In this week's episode, Martin and Steve are back from Newbury Autojumble and are keen to share their buying, selling a spotting stories from the weekend.
Elsewhere, Steve's persistent lust for a Range Rover L322 just won't go away, and the pair get stuck into a series of listener's questions – including should you fit Series doors to a Defender?
LRM contributor and friend of the show, Greg King, has some invaluable anti-roll bar information, and the guys discuss soundproofing options for Defenders.
Can you buy a Land Rover for £1500? A listener puts the boys to work.

Jack Dobson (@Dobbo_Down_Under) on 8-spokes, V8s and restoring an 80in Series I
2026/10/07
In this week's very special episode, long-term LRM contributor Jack Dobson is over from Australia and joins Steve and Martin for a chat about the similarities and differences between Land Rover scenes in the UK and Australia.
Jack talks us through his fleet of Series Land Rovers – the majority of which are V8-powered – and tells the tale of how his beloved Series IIA got stolen and reacquainted with him two whole years after it went missing.
There's also chat about his mission to restore an 80-inch Series I, including the judgement from some of the more niche chapters of the Land Rover world, and how his choice of paint colour was a not-so-subtle jibe at these attitudes.
The gang get distracted by a 130 with a cage on the back, and Jack discloses some of his favourite and most-hated mods for a Series Land Rover.
As always, we love to get your questions and feedback, so don't be shy – drop us an email on [email protected] and let your voice be heard.
Why not grab a subscription to Land Rover Monthly magazine? It's packed with brilliant Land Rover content including columns and features from quality contributors just like Jack. Check out subscription deals here: https://www.mymagazinesub.co.uk/land-rover/

2026/09/23

The pair get constantly distracted by Land Rovers passing them on the road, discuss Defender L663 roof pods, 4x4s that aren't Land Rovers, tractors and plenty of other Land Rover (and non-Land Rover)-related topics as they make progress up the M6.
They chat about the styling and design of the latest crop of Land Rovers and Range Rovers, ogle a very tasty L405 Autobiography and wonder if Gerry McGovern will ever join them for a chat on the podcast. Only time will tell...

What's in your cubby box?
2026/09/16
In this week's episode, Martin and Steve are between studios, so are recording from their respective homes – sorry if it sounds a bit different to normal!
Martin's "new" Defender Td5 is ready for MOT, and Steve adds to his shopping list for his project Ninety. The pair discuss daily-driven Range Rover Classics, and the virtues of a set of vehicle skates for moving long-term project Land Rovers around. Ahem...
Ex-LRM Features Editor, Kev Mills, gets in touch to talk European service stations and regale the guys with a tale of collecting a Range Rover with a temperamental Td5, and there's chat about the new issue of Land Rover Life.
The boys also discuss what they don't leave home without – what's always in your Land Rover?

Mudflap destruction, mourning Discovery Sport and the end of the Salmon Sofa
2026/09/09
In this week's podcast, it's a very sad day – the Salmon Sofa is to be retired. But good news! The LRM Podcast is moving to new premises, and the cast will be bigger and better than ever.
Martin rejoices in the stripdown of his "new" Defender 110, and contemplates spending good money on mudflaps and rubber mats with the money he has made from selling some of the flaky accessories.
Steve gives us a project update, and accepts the fact his suspension height needs some adjustment, and shares news of an exciting bodywork purchase.

Saving Defenders from the crusher – US attorney Will Hedrick
2026/08/19

The guys talk the import of Land Rovers from the United Kingdom into the United States, the rules that had to be followed, and what can happen if those rules aren't adhered to. The State doesn't always get it right, though...
The guys also talk about the Land Rover club scene in America, and the greatness that is Land Rover ownership no matter where on the planet you live.

Range Rover GT, fleet updates and are Defenders good family cars?
2026/07/29
In this episode of The LRM Podcast, Land Rover Monthly Editor, Martin Domoney, and publisher, Steve Miller, are back at base talking Land Rovers on the salmon sofa.
The pair kick off with a question – do you like the episodes of The LRM Podcast with guests, or with just Martin and Steve?
Winding down from an extremely busy show season, the boys discuss their next big project – a series of buying guides on all the very coolest Land Rover models which will be going live on the LRM YouTube channel over the coming 12 months.
Martin debates which Land Rover model is the ideal family car ahead of his upcoming new arrival – Defender, Discovery, Range Rover – or is a Freelander enough?
The guys also touch on the new Range Rover GT, a brand-new model to the lineup that's decidedly road-biased, and discuss where it actually sits in the stable.

The notorious London Mud Club, getting a good deal with Larry the Land Rover and why BMW power is king with Jonathan East
2026/07/22
In this week's episode, Martin and Steve are back on the Salmon Sofa at The Big Land Rover Fest. It's hot and sunny, the mics are on and the conversation is flowing.
First up to join the boys are Lord Trousers and Captain Ratty from the "notoriously popular but impossible to join" London Mud Club to chat cigars, stylish clothing and Land Rover-based shenanigans. The guys talk about future adventures and why Land Rover ownership doesn't have to be serious.
Next up on the sofa is Jubilee Lorne, the driving force behind the Larry the Land Rover social media account. From camping out of a 90 with her family to using techniques to get the very best deal when buying a Land Rover to her top festival essentials, Jubilee's enthusiasm is infectious.
Finally, Jonathan East joins the boys on the sofa to talk all things engine conversions and running a Land Rover business on the Isle of Wight. Johnathan explains the importance of the new generation of gearboxes when doing engine conversions to Land Rovers, sourcing donors, Series trucks and more.

2026/07/15
In this very special episode, Martin and Steve are in pride of place on the Salmon Sofa on a dauntingly large stage at the inaugural Big Land Rover Fest.
The boys talk the best entry point into Land Rovers, why they truly are the most capable off-roaders available, as proven on the Big Land Rover Fest off-road course.
The guys are joined by Grenadier owner (don't hold it against him) and off-road driving instructor Gareth Jex, whose Lantra training was instrumental in helping build and fine-tune the off-road course. Gareth also chats about the greenlaning tours that he runs with his company, Surrey 4x4 Tours and Training, and the electric EV Spartan 4x4 is capturing the imagination of show-goers.
Next up to the Salmon Sofa is Tim Brown from Dorset Land Rover Club, who is the man behind the recent Tea on the Tailgate revolution. How did it start? Where are things heading? Hear it all from the man himself as he joins Martin and Steve on the LRM Podcast.
Fitter Mat is back next, to talk all about his Range Rover and his ownership journey – from fault code clearing on-the-fly, optional extras and general wafting around.
