Description
My story is no different and yet is mine alone: I am a recovering perfectionist learning to love my good enoughs and my I gave it my alls. My story leans into the dirt of my life: poverty, sexual abuse, young motherhood, divorce, womanhood, midlife, and domestic abuse. But my story is more about the space I have taken up in the dirt to grow: resilience, courage, gratefulness, determination, persistence, joy, and love. It is the culmination of my experiences that has led me to live a gratefully joy-filled life.

Shedding and Unraveling
2025/06/16
Season 2, Episode 4
“Shedding and Unraveling”
Of Dirt and Wildflowers: A Podcast
Hosted by Kylee Jean Marshall
In today’s episode, “Shedding and Unraveling,” we will diginto the dirt of life to better understand the that in order to make room for new growth, for any growth at all, we must shed. We must clear. We must allow there to be possibility.
I don’t know if I realized what was happening until it hadalready happened – this shedding that left me both raw and also floating, free. Maybe I didn’t know it was happening because what was happening felt like complete destruction and how can destruction and devastation and loss feel likeanything other than ember weight, like sable darkness. But it was there all along, in the shedding and the unraveling, in the clearing out and the cleansing, in the pruning. It was there – it takes one hell of a fire for a phoenix to grow wings from the flames. It requires a clearing – we must create clearings in our lives – prune away all that attaches us to a season passed, past – in order to make space, make room for the impending bloom.
If today’s episode resonated with you, I would love to hear from you! Please send me an email at [email protected].
I truly believe in the power of journaling and its power to help us in making personal connections and in creating meaning to help us grow. Below are connected journaling prompts fortoday’s episode.
1. Take time to reflect on a moment when you felt devastatedby loss, by something outside of your control. How has this moment shaped you and altered the way you live everyday life?
2. What things could you prune from your everyday life thatwould make space for more joy?
3. What brings you joy that you currently feel like you don’t have time or space for? How can you choose to make space and time for those things?
Be well! Love you, my friends.

Dancing with Life -- My 45th Birthday Tribute
2025/04/30
Season 2, Episode: 3
“Dancing with Life -- My 45th Birthday Tribute”
Of Dirt & Wildflowers: A Podcast
Hosted by Kylee Jean Marshall
In today’s episode, “Dancing with Life,” we will dig into the dirt of midlife. In this special reading of my recent blog, I will share with you 45 sacred truths.
April is always the idyllic reminder of the beauty in a dance. The two steps forward and the one step back. We throw open windows to welcome a soft breeze sliding down off mountain tops and release layers from our shoulders to let the sun drape itself over our winter skin. And in the next moment, we are holding onto anything not secure, not tethered to keep it from blowing away in the unrelenting wind. Two steps forward and one step back. We saunter into the wild to witness the first blooms brave the barren ground of a sleeping Earth, and we turn our faces up, eyes closed, to take in deep inhales of air broken free from winter’s hold. And in the next moment, we are running for cover as the chilled rain pelts against our exposed skin. We watch the windowpane become a kaleidoscope of watercolor and are reminded that without this, we cannot have the other. Two steps forward and one step back.
If today’s episode resonated with you, I would love to hear from you! Please send me an email at [email protected].
I truly believe in the power of journaling and its power to help us in making personal connections and in creating meaning to help us grow. Below are connected journaling prompts for today’s episode.
1. What is a sacred truth you would add to this list?
2. Why is it an important piece of how you show up in your own life?
3. How did this truth come to be?
Be well! Love you, my friends.

Slipping Into Autumn

Episode: 12
“Slipping into Autumn”
Of Dirt & Wildflowers: A Podcast
Hosted by Kylee Jean Marshall
In today’s episode, “Slipping into Autumn,” we will dig into the dirt of life in order to better understand the unreasonable and often ill-serving expectations we place on ourselves, especially in autumn and the last months of the year.
Autumn signals that change is upon us, and we welcome her with open arms and bid adieu to summer; but almost without noticing we let her slip away instead of slipping
into her. We begin the rush to holidays and picture-perfection instead of embracing the slow release she offers.
When you finish listening, you will have a better understanding…of how you can slip into Autumn with ease and gratitude, how you can gift yourself and your family by being present.
If today’s episode resonated with you, I would love to hear from you! Please send me an email at [email protected].
I truly believe in the power of journaling and its power to help us in making personal connections and in creating meaning to help us grow. Below are connected journaling prompts for today’s episode.
1. What does Autumn signal to you? How do you see not only the world around you shifting in this season, but how do you notice yourself moving differently as well?
2. Instead of thinking about all you have not accomplished this year, write down every little thing you have accomplished? How does this shifted perspective make you feel?
3. How can you gift yourself and your family this season?

Of Dirt & Wildflowers: A Podcast
Hosted by Kylee Jean Marshall
In today’s episode, “Healing is Silent Growth,” we will dig into the dirt of life in order to better understand that dark, not visible place where healing quietly, silently takes place.
Nobody talks about how lonely healing can feel. Like an iceberg, trauma is half visible and half hidden. We only allow so much to be seen; and so when it comes to healing, we are the only person who knows what is below the surface that needs to be dealt with.
When you finish listening, you will have a better understanding…of not only why healing is silent growth but why it is essential to our journey.
If today’s episode resonated with you, I would love to hear from you! Please send me an email at [email protected].
I truly believe in the power of journaling and its power to help us in making personal connections and in creating meaning to help us grow. Below are connected journaling prompts for today’s episode.
1. Consider an event or incident in your life that broke you in some way. What did others see/understand about it? What can you honestly say you never talked about in regards to the event or incident?
2. Why do you think you personally keep feelings and thoughts to yourself?
3. How do you see yourself silently healing? What is below the surface that you are able to sit with?

Happiness Grows from Solid Boundaries

Episode: 10
“Happiness Grows from Solid Boundaries”
Of Dirt & Wildflowers: A Podcast
Hosted by Kylee Jean Marshall
In today’s episode, “Happiness Grows from Solid Boundaries,” we will dig into the dirt of life in order to better understand how our true happiness is deeply connected to the boundaries that we set, that we hold, and that we ignore in our lives.
When we make the shift from thinking a boundary is a way to push people away to understanding it is a way to get closer to ourselves, we can fully embrace their loving power.
Happiness is a choice. It is situational. And so are our boundaries. We have the choice to determine who and what has access to us. We are solely responsible for
setting them and committing to them.
When you finish listening, you will have a better understanding…of ten boundaries that you can start considering today. You can begin evaluating your personal “well” in relation to what you are giving away and what you are receiving.
If today’s episode resonated with you, I would love to hear from you! Please send me an email at [email protected].
I truly believe in the power of journaling and its power to help us in making personal connections and in creating meaning to help us grow. Below are connected journaling prompts for today’s episode.
1. Thinking about your personal “well,” write about what takes and requires the most of you in a typical day. Which of these “drain” you?
2. What resources do you currently have that refill, refuel, and recharge you? Are you utilizing these or do you feel guilty? Consider your role in your own recharge.
3. What boundaries do you feel like you need to set or reset? Also consider boundaries that pertain to you and your own thought processes.
Be well! Love you, my friends.

Pivotal Moments Grow from Life's Pivots

Episode: 9
“Pivotal Moments Grow from Life’s Pivots”
Of Dirt & Wildflowers: A Podcast
Hosted by Kylee Jean Marshall
In today’s episode, “Pivotal Moments Grow from Life’s Pivots,” we will dig into the dirt of life in order to understand the importance of pivoting in pivotal moments.
It is in the step back from the setback that we can only then see the possibilities, the opportunities, and the lessons of the moment. It is where hope can breathe.
There is a time for a full range of emotions at the onset of and throughout a setback; however, there is also a distinct moment when we must pivot. We must choose how we are going to step back into our life knowing it looks differently.
When you finish listening, you will have a better understanding…of the importance of stepping back and
understanding the setbacks in our lives serve as great a purpose as the highlights in our lives. They are pivotal and require us to step into the moment with hope, confidence, and grace.
If today’s episode resonated with you, I would love to hear from you! Please send me an email at [email protected].
I truly believe in the power of journaling and its power to help us in making personal connections and in creating meaning to help us grow. Below are connected journaling prompts for today’s episode.
1. Think back to a setback in your life. When you consider this moment, what did you fear you were losing? In reflection, what can you acknowledge that you gained?
2. Think back to a setback in your life (the same one as above or a different one). Should you experience something similar, how would you pivot differently? How would you show up in your own life this time?
3. In this most recent setback, I have spent hours journaling about gratitude. It is a beautiful thing that we can be grateful for what is no longer ours just as much as we can be for what is. What are you grateful for in the midst of a setback?
Be well! Love you, my friends.
