The Garage Fridge Was a Status Symbol: 90s Luxuries
2026/06/12
Remember when having a basketball hoop mounted above the garage meant someone was rich? Or when finding a Sprite Remix in the garage fridge felt like winning the lottery? In this episode, Lexie and Madi take a trip back to the 90s and early 2000s to talk about all the random things they thought were signs of wealth growing up. From whirlpool tubs and computer rooms to Starter jackets, Disney vacations, and the Schwan's man, they're unpacking the childhood status symbols that shaped an entire generation. Turns out, being "rich" was mostly just having cool stuff and a little kid imagination.

What’s My Age Again? (Family Triggers)
2026/04/17
Ever notice how you can be a fully functioning adult… until you’re around your family? Yeah. Same.
This week, we’re talking all about family triggers, childhood roles, and why being home somehow turns us back into our 16-year-old selves. With help from licensed clinical psychologist Dr. Ash Ginter, we get into the why behind it all, like what’s actually happening in your brain when old patterns resurface.
We’re sharing our own stories, calling family members for real-time perspective, and figuring out how to handle it all without losing our minds. It’s honest, it’s real, and it might hit a little too close to home.

Wait… We Have More Guilty Pleasures
2026/02/06
We’re back with another round of guilty pleasures! In this episode of Wait, You’re Mad, Lexie and Madi revisit the topic after realizing they definitely weren’t done confessing the first time around. Consider this an extension of our original guilty pleasures episode—because apparently, we have a lot to get off our chests.
From comfort TV and chain-restaurant cravings to doom-scrolling comments and imaginary shower arguments, the conversation dives into the little things that bring us joy, and why we should stop feeling guilty about them in the first place.
The episode turns into a reminder that joy doesn’t need to be earned, self-care sometimes looks like saying no, and alone time is more necessary than we admit. At the end of the day, life’s too short not to enjoy what you enjoy.
No guilt required.

Manifestation 101: What It Is, How It Works, and How to Do It (w/ Emily Childers)
2026/01/30
Manifestation is talked about constantly — and somehow still confusing. So we brought in Emily Childers to help make it make sense.
In this episode, we break down what manifestation actually is (and what it’s NOT), why it’s everywhere right now, and what it looks like when it finally clicks. Lexie shares her “beginner” perspective — naming what you want, believing you’re allowed to want it, then showing up differently. Emily explains manifestation as energy + alignment put into action (you still have to do the work). And Madi connects it to neuroscience — how your brain filters reality based on what it thinks matters (hello RAS), plus why your nervous system state affects everything from creativity to pattern recognition.
Emily shares how grief and gratitude were the starting point for her journey, why “be it until you see it” beats “fake it until you make it,” and how signs and synchronicities became little checkpoints that she’s in alignment. We also talk about letting go of control, why outcome-clinging creates lack energy, and why the real question isn’t “what do I want?” — it’s “how do I want to feel?”
We also put Emily in the spiritual hot seat: crystals, tarot, readings, full moon rituals, cleansing energy, sage vs palo santo, intuition vs logic, and the airy fairy” practice she’d recommend even to skeptics.

Before It Was Smart: A Millennial Tech Time Capsule
2026/01/23
Before technology was instant, synced, and smart, it required patience and problem solving. Madi and Lexie take a nostalgic trip through millennial tech from MapQuest printouts and burned CDs to T9 texting, LimeWire, and MySpace and reflect on how growing up in that in between era shaped our adaptability, anxiety, and attention spans. A time capsule for anyone who remembers learning to wait.

The Truth About Med Spas
2026/01/16
Med spas aren’t just about vanity. They are where self care, science, and confidence collide.
In this episode, we sit down with the team behind Nova MedSpa, a Midwest, Iowa-based medspa with locations in Ankeny, Polk City, and Dubuque, to unpack what aesthetics actually are and what social media gets very wrong. From Botox myths and medical grade skincare to functional medicine, hormones, weight loss, and why facials are more than just a luxury, we get into how treating holistically changes everything.
We talk mental health, confidence, perimenopause, GLP 1s, and yes even salmon sperm. Don’t panic. It is called PDRN and it is science. Most importantly, we dig into why trust, education, and individualized care matter way more than trends.
If you’ve ever been curious, skeptical, overwhelmed, or quietly intrigued by aesthetics, this one is for you.

Mixology in the Midwest: Behind the Bar with Carl Busch
2025/12/05
This week on Wait, You’re Mad?, we’re diving into something that feels Midwestern: drinking culture. Not the frat-boy kind — the “meet at a bar to decompress, overshare, and solve all of life’s problems in one night” kind.
We’re joined by Carl Busch, award-winning mixologist and owner of EJ’s Wine Shop in Dubuque’s Historic Millwork District — a tasting room known for cozy vibes, curated wines, thoughtful cocktails, and the type of staff who actually help you figure out what you like instead of making you pretend you know tannins.
Together, we cover:
How Carl became one of Iowa’s Top MixologistsThe story behind EJ’s Wine Shop & how he builds his seasonal menusThe chaos, the beauty, and the unhinged memories from years behind the barAND we kick off the episode with a very on-brand wine chug
Then we wrap with Pair It or Spare It — a rapid-fire game where Carl has to pair drinks with chaotic life situations (Target holiday shopping carts, Sunday Scaries, hometown Facebook fights… you get it).
Follow EJ’s Wine Shop @EJsWineShop for events, tastings, and winter menu drops.

We’re talking the chaos, the crowds, the forced festivity, the Elf-on-a-Shelf emotional terrorism, the disappointing Christmas snacks, the boomer gift over-buying, and the Target parking lots that become war zones.
You sent us your Irrational Holiday Mads, and honestly? You’re so valid. So valid that we ditched our own mads this week and handed the mic to you. Together we’re normalizing holiday burnout, laughing at the absurdity, and coping through pure seasonal commiseration.
If you’ve ever been overwhelmed, annoyed, or feral between November and January, welcome home. This is your episode.
