Ranked top 5% globally Are you a successful and well-rounded individual, but are lacking spiritual fulfillment in your life?  Do you consider yourself to be Christian, and grew up Catholic, but your family never really practiced?  And, maybe they did.  But, as an adult, you have become totally withdrawn from the Church?  Have you experienced trials and tribulations and have sought out answers except for the Faith?  But, you would like to learn more to see if the Catholic faith is a path you'd like to consider?    If this is you?  You are in the right place.  I want to encourage you to take time to explore your Catholic Christian Faith.  I want to remind you that you are a loved, valued and an integral part of the Catholic Church Family founded by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  And, there is nothing he wants more than to welcome you home. Hi, I am Cathy Jo Lang, daughter of The One True King.  And, I am excited to welcome you to “The Unplanned Joyful Life” podcast.  I am a practicing Catholic who recommitted to my Catholic Christian faith after experiencing a mental health crisis over 30 years ago.  I suffered a severe postpartum depression that required a 3 week hospitalization and caused me to be away from my newborn baby at a time that he needed me the most.   When recovering from the depression, I searched for any and all help to deal with the guilt, shame and condemnation this experience brought.  And, in order to decrease my chances of going through another mental health crisis, I decided to search, understand and embrace my Catholic Christian Faith.  And, it was there, that I experienced complete healing, wholeness and transformation, never to suffer a depression again.   Through our Catholic faith, Jesus became the firm foundation on which my husband, Steve and I were able to build a beautiful family, full of love, life and purpose for our children and grandchildren. And, although I would like to say to that we never experienced a trial or tribulation since.  In 2019, we suffered the tragic lost our beautiful son Michael Robert at the age of 26.  Michael suffered from a rare and chronic health condition without a sufficient medical diagnosis.  This illness caused him chronic pain, fatigue, and isolation amongst many other symptoms, too many to mention.  And, although his passing was devastating, we were able to receive God's healing, grace and provision through the mourning and grief we suffered as a family.    I never thought I could get through the loss of a child.  And, I don't wish that hardship on anyone.  But, because of our Catholic Christian Faith, Steve, myself and our other two children, Stephen and Elizabeth were able to lean on, trust in and practice the one true faith, Catholicism.  And, although it took the love, provision and healing power of God, as well as the support of our family and friends, we were able to experience peace, hope and love in the midst of tragedy.  We know that Michael is with Jesus.  And, we look forward to the day that we will meet and embrace him again in our Heavenly Home.   Besides being wife, mom and grandmother, I am a Certified Professional Life Coach, Public Speaker and Podcast Host of The Unplanned Joyful Life.  I grew up in a loving but alcoholic and dysfunctional family.  After going to group counseling with my family at the direction of our parents, I felt hope and excitement for the idea that change is possible.  I saw my parents make significant transformation over time in order to bring health and wellness back to our family.  And, I've been on a mission to live my best life ever since.   In this podcast, I’ll provide valuable insights to help you delve into  the Catholic Faith, bring better understanding to the Church, it's practices and the benefits you will receive when practicing it on a regular basis.  All this will help you become the best version of yourself.  I will share “tried-and-true” tips an

# 203 How can you prepare yourself to evangelize? 10 things I try to do to share my Catholic Christian faith with others.
2026/10/01
⭐️ Today's Topic: What I’m doing Right when it comes to sharing my Catholic Christian Faith.   1.  Practicing my faith so when the opportunity arrises, I’m comfortable talking about it to others.   2. Engaging with other believers that are able to support me in my faith and share ways to live it out and share with others..   3.  Accepting others for who they are and not trying to push my beliefs on them.  4.  Being ready to share my faith and/or testimony for when opportunities arise.   5.  Living out the faith with kindness, grace, forgiveness, hopefulness and joy, so others see Christ’s light in me.   6. Learning to deal with attacks from the enemy in order to stay the course.  What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger.   7. Leaning on our faith and trusting in Jesus Christ when facing troubles.  Sometimes people see our faith clearer when they see how we deal with trials and tribulation.   8.  Treating others respectfully, no matter who they are and where they come from.   9.  Practicing forgiveness in order to be renewed in the spirit and allow others the freedom of forgiveness as well.   10. Creating this podcast so anyone interested can be exposed to my and my guests testimonies and ministries of faith.    ⭐️ Your Host: Cathy Jo Lang Catholic Life Coach, Speaker and Host of The Unplanned Joyful Life Podcast: iI is important for Cathy Jo to support you on your Personal Faith Journey.  In this podcast, she provides you with important topics, in-depth conversation and valuable resources that will help you to become all that God created you to be!.   Experienced Registered Nurse: Cathy Jo is experienced in meeting the needs of those she serves.  She provides information on her podcast, and expertise through her coaching services, that will help you become more aware, informed and fulfilled in every area of your life. # 202 Do You Hold Back On Sharing The Faith? 9 Excuses that may be stopping me from evangelizing my Catholic Christian Faith.
2026/09/29
⭐️ Today's Topic: Do You Hold Back On Sharing The Faith?  9 Things Excuses that hold me back from sharing my Catholic Christian Faith.   1. Lack of confidence in others: I don’t think that most people could handle the truth.   2. Laziness on my part: I don’t want to get into a challenging debate or conversation. It can be mentally and emotionally exhausting.   3. Idolatry: I am more concerned about pleasing others than what God is calling me to do.   4. Making Assumptions: People seem more concerned with money, travel, entertainment and keeping up with the Joneses.  I assume that they think that choosing to embrace their faith would interfere with their life and social status.   5. Discomfort: Fear of making others feel uncomfortable    6. Popularity: So many adults as well as children are preoccupied with being accepted and fitting in.  Engaging in the Christian faith is not popular in most circles.   7.  Fear of Change: As much as we want to share the Good News, I get comfortable with who the believers and who aren’t. I use the excuse that they are not interested.  But, sometimes I wonder if I want things to change.   8. Need for Acceptance: Although I am pretty open about my faith.  I hesitate to initiate this Conversation and rather wait for an open opportunity.   9. Lack of confidence in myself: Am I knowledgable enough and is my belief strong enough to properly convey and/or persuade others. #200 Are You in a Dark Place? 15 Thoughts, 4 verses and My Prayer For You
2026/09/15
⭐️ Have you been struggling to stay positive, feel hopeful or receive support from those around you?  Here are brief thoughts and 4 scripture verses that I want to share.  Song: There will be Joy in the Morning: Click below to listen https://youtu.be/uysGt7JVw9U?si=DkJ23QETF2l66-O- I don’t know why you’re struggling or what you’re going through.   I want you to know that I’m sharing this with you in hope that it might help..   I don’t know how you’re feeling but, I know that feelings fluctuate and although we can’t depend on them, if we struggle with overwhelming feelings, we need to seek help. Even though I do not know what you are going through doesn’t mean that I shouldn’t try to reach you.   I want to give you hope.   I want you to know that you are not alone.   I want you to know that you and your life matter.   You may not feel loved, valued or struggle to obtain what you think you truly need and deserve.  But, that doesn’t mean that you don’t deserve it or that you will never receive it.   It may be hard to see it.  But, this place in time will pass and things will change.  You will not be here forever.     It may be hard to be hopeful right now, but I truly believe that, “You are in the valley and your time to stand on the mountain will come.  It might be sooner than you think.  It might be around the corner”  If others aren’t giving you the attention you need, you have to seek and find it in some positive way for yourself.   Life is unfair and people can be very unkind.  They can be selfish, hurtful and unmerciful.  But, that doesn’t mean that you don’t deserve to be feel good, be good or do good.  You have a right to be happy and live a full and happy life.   Jesus loves you.  He died for you so that you wouldn’t have to be held captive to the sin of your past, or to the sin of this world.   Whatever it is that is keeping you down, I pray that you can start to let it go.  I pray that you are able to get the help you need.  If you’ve tried hundreds of times and feel discouraged, I beg you to keep trying.   Keep Fighting, even If you feel like your fight is gone, whisper and ask Jesus to save you.  Ask him to come to your rescue through the Holy Spirit.    Scripture verses:  Galations 6:9  Let us never grow weary in doing what is right, for if we do not give up, we will reap our harvest in due time. Revelation 3:11  I am coming soon. Hold fast to what you already have so that no one may rob you of your crown.  Isaiah 41:10  Do not fear, for I am with you;     do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and give you help,     I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.”    Hebrews 12:1   Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses,[b] let us throw off everything that weighs us down and the sins that so easily distract us and with perseverance run the race that lies ahead of us,  ⭐️ Your Host: Cathy Jo Lang Catholic Life Coach, Speaker and Host of The Unplanned Joyful Life Podcast: iI is important for Cathy Jo to support you on your Personal Faith Journey. # 199 What is Prayer and How do I Do It? 5 Ways to Communicate with Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
2026/09/10
⭐️ Today's Topic: What is Prayer and How do I do it?  5 Ways to Communicate with Father, Son and Holy Spirit:    Prayer is Communication with God.   The Holy Trinity consists of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.   Think of I like this:  God as God the Father of all, Creator of the Universe and ultimate Authority;  Jesus Christ as the Son who came to earth , was Fully God and Fully Human  and chose do die on a cross for our sins;  Holy Spirit was sent to be with us after Jesus ascended into heaven.   He is often represented as a Dove or a burning flame and was sent to be our advocate, protector, director and guide and to actively participate in our day to day lives.    1. Talk to God (and listen).  Ex of short and simple: “I trust you Jesus.”   2. Say or Pray prewritten or memorized prayers.   3. Take time to be silent (with no distractions).   4. Use your work as an offering to God.   5. Journal to Father Son and Holy Spirit:   A. Thank him for all you have.    B. Verbalize where you’re at and what you’re dealing with.    C.  Make your requests known.    D. Ask for direction by the Holy Spirit and wait for and record a response.    E.  Finish with Thank you Jesus/  Amen/. Or I love you. # 196 What Comes from a World Full of Practicing Catholics? 10 Ways Practicing Catholicism Changes You for the Good.
2026/09/01
⭐️ Today's Topic: My Reflection on why practicing Catholicism is so valuable and needed in our world today.  1. When we make a regular practice of acknowledging and glorifying  God as our creator, our life becomes more properly ordered.     2. When we routinely acknowledge Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, we receive a real sense of what it means to give and receive unconditional love.   3. When we are reminded of our advocate of the Holy Spirit, we realize that we are never alone and we benefit from communing with him.   4. When we choose to live a life that Christ calls us to and become obedient to his plan, we experience true Freedom.   5. When we trust Jesus with every aspect of our life, in his mercy, grace and love, we become transformed and made new.   6. When we choose poverty over riches in order to live out God’s call on our lives, we truly experience and receive God’s provision in our life on a day to day basis.   7. When we consistently choose Jesus in the good times, he remains a strong foundation and provides for us through the hard times.   8. When we practice our Catholic Christian faith and apply it to our day to day life, we become a light to others in need.   9.  When we are reminded of Jesus’ love and sacrifice for us while we were still sinners, we are better able to love those who hurt us.   10.  When we practice sacraments such as Holy Eucharist and Reconciliation regularly, we become vessels of God’s love, meant to be poured out to and for others. # 193 What does it take to Actively Pursue Your Catholic Faith? 10 Aspects that make you a Practicing Catholic.
2026/08/20
⭐️ Today's Topic: What does it mean to be a Practicing Catholic? What it means to be a Practicing Catholic:  1.You’ve been baptized by the church.   2. You have or are in the process of receiving the 7 sacraments appropriately.   3. Minimally, you attend mass on Sundays and on Holy days of obligation.  January 1: Solemnity of Mary May 14: Ascension of Jesus — Celebrated on the sixth Thursday after Easter Sunday* August 15: Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary* November 1: Solemnity of All Saints December 8: Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary December 25: Christmas  4. Receive the sacrament of Holy Eucharist at list once a year during the Easter season.   5. Receive the sacrament of reconciliation at least once a year.   6. Fast and abstain from meat on designated Holy days like Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.   7. Support the Church through donation of time, money and/or talents.   8. Accept the core beliefs of the Creed.   The Nicene Creed I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen. 9. Try to live by the 10 Commandments and church moral teachings.   Catholics follow a traditional order, largely influenced by St. Augustine’s teachings: I am the Lord your God; you shall have no other gods before me. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain. Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Honor your father and your mother. You shall not kill. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife. You shall not covet your neighbor’s goods. 10. Use these 1st 9 ways as a guide but be open to exploring and expanding your practices to encourage life and growth in the faith:  a. Attend a Bible Study  b. Attend Eucharistic adoration  c. Attend daily mass   d. Pray the Rosary  e. # 190 How Do I Deal with the Challenges of living a Life of Faith? 10 Ways to Live in this World, But to Not be of This World
2026/08/06
⭐️ Today's Topic:  How do I combat the challenges that come with living a life of faith?  10 habits to help you live in this world but not be of this world?  Matthew 22:37-40.   New Catholic Bible 37 Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the greatest and the first commandment. 39 The second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 Everything in the Law and the Prophets depends on these two commandments.” Matthew 7     New Catholic Bible Chapter 7 1-5 1 “Do not judge, so that you in turn may not be judged. 2 For you will be judged in the same way that you judge others, and the measure that you use for others will be used to measure you.3 “Why do you take note of the splinter in your brother’s eye but do not notice the wooden plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove that splinter from your eye,’ while all the time the wooden plank remains in your own? 5 You hypocrite! First remove the wooden plank from your own eye, and then you will be able to see clearly enough to remove the splinter from your brother’s eye.   10 Ways To Live in this world, But not be of this world: How to Combat the Challenges that come witLiving a Life of Faith  1. Practice your faith regularly: Daily Prayer, Weekly Mass, Receive the Sacraments appropriately 2. Surround yourself with the word of God: Read scripture, Listen to Christian Music, Watch Faith-Based Entertainment, Read Books by Catholic/ Christian Authors, Attend Catholic/Christian Speaking Events.   3. When Socializing with Non-believers, consider who is affecting who?  Is good coming from the situation?  Pray over situation and what you are directed to by the Holy Spirit.   4. Take time to get to know the Holy Trinity; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit: Have a relationship with each.  And take time to reflect on where the Spirit is leading you.   5. Get to know the Saints: Who are they?  How were they challenged?  And, how did they overcome struggles?   6. Choose to love all God’s Children.  7. Give Grace  8. Recognize the gifts of non-believers: Realize that although, they may not have accepted God into their lives, they are still God’s children. 9.  When you feel Lonely, rejected, disappointed, heartbroken, or remorseful, remember that Jesus knows how we feel: Jesus sent his Holy Spirit to be with us.  We are never alone.  And, we can be united with Christ through our suffering.   10. Spend extra time in prayer and reflection: Pray the Rosary, the Divine Mercy Chapel, Novenas or Eucharistic Adoration.   ⭐️ Your Host: Cathy Jo Lang As a Catholic Life Coach, Speaker and Host of The Unplanned Joyful Life Podcast, it is important for Cathy Jo to support you on your Personal Faith Journey.  In this podcast, she provides you with important topics, in-depth conversation and valuable resources that will help you to become all that God created you to be!.   As a seasoned Registered Nurse, Cathy Jo is experienced in meeting the needs of those she serves.  She provides information on her podcast, and expertise through her coaching services, that will help you become more aware, informed and fulfilled in every area of your life.
