S2E23 - Samaria, Worshipping in Spirit and in Truth, and the Harvest
2026/09/09
Send us Fan Mail John 4:1-42
S2E22 - Nicodemus, John the Baptist, and being Born Again
2026/08/28
Send us Fan Mail Nicodemus was a powerful religious leader who came to Jesus under the cover of night, curious but unable to see who Jesus truly was. Jesus told him that unless a person is born again, they cannot see the kingdom of God. This was not a call to religious effort or better behavior. It was a call to complete spiritual transformation, a new heart made possible only by the Holy Spirit. Being born again means being adopted into an entirely new spiritual lineage, rooted in Christ rather than in our old nature. Everything changes when we come to Him, not just our actions, but our motives, our perspective, and the way we use our pain and resources. The contrast between Nicodemus and John the Baptist shows us the difference between spiritual blindness and spiritual clarity. John the Baptist saw Jesus perfectly and gladly stepped aside, declaring that He must increase and John must decrease. Being born again is not a moment we look back on. It is a life we keep stepping into, one surrender at a time.
S2E21 - "Son of Man", "Come and See", and Experience
2026/08/14
Send us Fan Mail Jesus closes John chapter 1 by calling Himself the Son of Man, a title loaded with meaning drawn from both Genesis and Daniel. He points back to Jacob's dream of a staircase connecting heaven and earth, declaring that He Himself is that connection. By claiming this title, Jesus is asserting both His full humanity and His eternal, divine authority. The invitation He extends to His first disciples, to come and see, is the same invitation He extends to us. Faith grows not through perfectly crafted arguments but through personal encounter with Jesus. Beholding Him consistently is what transforms us from the inside out. Theology is valuable, but only when the goal is to know Jesus more deeply rather than to win arguments or accumulate pride. He is the bridge between heaven and earth, and He is still calling us to come closer.
S2E20 - John 1, "Logos", and "Tabernacle-ing"
2026/08/11
Send us Fan Mail John 1 opens with one of the most theologically rich passages in all of Scripture, making a bold and direct claim: Jesus is God. The Greek word Logos, translated as 'Word,' points to Jesus as the logic and revelation of God. When John writes that the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, he is deliberately echoing the tabernacle of the Old Testament, where God chose to dwell with His people. Jesus did not merely appear to be human. He fully robed Himself in human flesh while retaining His complete divinity. This was a radical idea in the pagan culture of Ephesus, where John was writing. Understanding the context of who John was writing to, and why, unlocks the full weight of what he was saying. If you want to know who God is, look at Jesus. He is the Word made flesh, and He can be known.
S2E19 - Life in Ephesus, Luke 6, and Agape
2026/08/06
Send us Fan Mail The Bible describes four types of love, but agape stands apart from all of them. Unlike romantic, family, or friendly love, agape is not based on feelings. It is a deliberate choice to seek another person's good at your own expense, even when nothing is given in return. Jesus modeled this perfectly and called His followers to do the same. This kind of love is supernatural, meaning it cannot be sustained by willpower alone. It requires obedience first, and then God provides the grace to follow through. Agape love begins at home, shapes families, and ultimately has the power to transform culture.
S2E18 - Faith, Manifestation, and Hope
2026/07/17
Send us Fan Mail Faith is one of the most misunderstood concepts in Christianity, and many believers have unknowingly replaced it with something closer to a formula or even a spiritual technique. Practices like manifesting, visualization, and positive confession are not biblical faith. They are rooted in the belief that your mental focus and energy can shape reality. True biblical faith is not about believing hard enough to get what you want. It is about trusting who God is, even when the outcome is not what you hoped for. The story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in Daniel 3 captures this perfectly. They did not declare their way out of the fire. They were thrown in, and it was there, in the middle of the flames, that God showed up. Real faith holds on to the goodness and sovereignty of God regardless of circumstances.
S2E17 - Psalm 145, God's Goodness, and Common Grace
2026/07/11
Send us Fan Mail Psalm 145, David's final psalm, is a powerful declaration of who God is and why He deserves our praise. David, the most powerful man in Israel, chose to humble himself before God, modeling the posture that genuine praise requires. To bless God is not to give Him something He lacks, but to acknowledge His goodness and perfection as the standard of all things. God's goodness extends to all of creation through what theologians call common grace, seen in every sunrise, every seed that grows, and every breath we take. His goodness does not promise an easy life, but it does promise that His nature never changes, even in hard seasons. Every attribute David praised in Psalm 145 is fully revealed in Jesus Christ, who is God made flesh. Practicing gratitude trains our eyes to see God at work and, by His design, transforms us from the inside out. He owes us nothing, and yet He gives us everything.
S2E16 - Responding to Holiness, Being Every Day Carriers, and The Incarnation
2026/07/03
Send us Fan Mail God is holy, and that holiness is not simply one quality among many. It is His very essence. Throughout Scripture, every genuine encounter with God's holiness produces the same response: an immediate and overwhelming awareness of human unworthiness. Yet rather than destroying those who approach Him, God consistently moves toward the broken, the unclean, and the desperate. Through the incarnation, His holiness now heals rather than simply judges. The Holy Spirit, who brings order rather than chaos, now dwells within believers and calls them to carry God's presence into everyday life. Familiarity can quietly erode reverence, and preparing our hearts before we worship or engage the world around us makes all the difference. A Spirit-filled life is not about manufacturing spiritual experiences. It is about staying open, staying present, and staying grateful.
S2E15 - Praise, Worship, and Order
2026/06/30
Send us Fan Mail Praise and worship are not the same thing. Praise is recalling what God has done, while worship is a full surrender directed entirely at who God is. Scripture gives us a clear picture of how to honor God, including shouting, singing, kneeling, and giving thanks, not because it is tradition, but because God's Word calls us to it. Two extremes tend to pull people off course: chaotic emotionalism that mistakes losing control for the Holy Spirit's presence, and cold formalism that leaves no room for genuine response. The words we sing matter deeply, because songs focused on ourselves train us to make worship about us rather than God. Worship is not just something we offer to God. It forms us, positions us rightly before our Creator, and connects us to the eternal reality of His kingdom.
S2E14 - Spiritual Drift, Psalm 23, and The Good Shepherd
2026/06/10
Send us Fan Mail The disciples who witnessed Jesus feed 5,000 people later failed to recognize Him walking on water, thinking He was a ghost. This reveals how we can be close to Jesus yet struggle to recognize Him in difficult circumstances. When we focus primarily on the benefits of following Jesus rather than knowing Him personally, our hearts can become hardened through pain, disappointment, or pride. Like sheep needing a shepherd, we must acknowledge our dependence and cultivate genuine relationship with Jesus. Recognition requires moving beyond studying about Him to actually beholding and being transformed by who He is.
S2E13 - Suffering, Escapism, and Redemption
2026/06/04
Send us Fan Mail Suffering is an inevitable part of life that often challenges our faith, but it serves a crucial purpose in our spiritual formation. Rather than being absent from God's original design, suffering entered the world through sin, corrupting what was once perfect. Jesus conquered suffering not by avoiding it, but by fully entering into human pain and hardship, from his humble birth to his sacrificial death. The early church transformed the Roman Empire through faithful endurance of persecution over 300 years, demonstrating that victory comes through suffering, not escape from it. Our hope lies not in avoiding pain but in knowing that God uses our temporary sufferings to produce eternal glory, transforming our difficulties into opportunities for spiritual growth and redemption.
S2E12 - Pentecost, Empowerment, and The Early Church
2026/05/28
Send us Fan Mail Pentecost wasn't primarily about miraculous signs and wonders, but about God pouring out His Spirit to empower believers to live like Jesus. The early church devoted themselves to teaching, fellowship, and prayer, becoming a powerful community. Stephen's example shows the true purpose - having supernatural power to forgive enemies even unto death, just as Jesus did. God's perfect timing during the Festival of Weeks allowed the gospel to spread worldwide through visiting pilgrims. Pentecost reversed the division of Babel, uniting people from all nations under Christ's name. The Spirit transforms believers into God's dwelling place on earth, empowering us to demonstrate His kingdom through love, forgiveness, and faithfulness in our daily lives.
S2E11 - Grace, Submission, and Suffering
2026/05/22
Send us Fan Mail The call to holiness requires active pursuit, not passive faith. True transformation comes through knowing Jesus deeply, not through behavior modification or willpower alone. The Holy Spirit empowers believers to choose Christ over flesh daily, making conscious decisions to pursue righteousness. This isn't about perfection but direction - allowing God's holiness to work through us as we behold Him more. Suffering and persecution are inevitable, but they can push us toward greater holiness when we surrender to God's transforming work.
S2E10 - Kids, Youth, and Young Adults
2026/05/14
Send us Fan Mail Jesus radically elevated children's importance when He declared that we must become like them to enter God's kingdom. Early Christians understood this, immediately rescuing abandoned babies in Roman culture and raising them as their own. Today, with 75% of students walking away from church after high school, fighting for the next generation isn't optional - it's essential. We either lead children to Christ or away from Him; there's no neutral ground. Every church member can contribute through direct service, creating welcoming environments, or reaching beyond church walls. The children we invest in today will shape tomorrow's culture and communities.
S2E9 - Convictions, Councils, and Community
2026/05/07
Send us Fan Mail Unity has been a challenge for the church since its beginning, when Jews and Gentiles first shared fellowship together. Paul outlines seven elements of unity in Ephesians 4:4-6, with the Trinity serving as the foundation for believer unity. The early church successfully navigated significant cultural and theological differences by establishing clear boundaries around core doctrines while allowing disagreement on secondary matters. True unity requires active participation in community, where believers practice humility, gentleness, and patience with one another. Jesus prayed for unity among believers as His final request before crucifixion, knowing that our unity would demonstrate His identity to the world.
