Lovlee Tang, Part 2 | When Nothing Else Makes Sense
2026/10/21
WATCH ON YOUTUBE @ https://youtu.be/rhxzVm0vVm8 Grace (0:00), Lovlee on navigating motherhood, the workbook, finding your path, and creating a life of passions (7:45), Lovlee’s art studio and community, and why art is about creating spaces where children and adults feel safe, seen and encouraged (15:30), life’s curveballs: when nothing else is making sense do your best with what you have (23:15). Host: Shelly Hutchinson Guest: Lovlee Tang Producer: Jessica RG O’Keefe, Breatheasy Productions   Follow Lovlee: Website: lovleeartstudios.com Instagram : @lovleetang & @lovleeartstudios TikTok: @lovleetang Facebook: Lovlee Tang & Lovlee Art Studios    Follow Us:  Instagram @creativemamasunplugged Facebook @creativemamasunplugged Apple Podcasts  @CreativeMamasUnplugged Spotify  @CreativeMamasUnplugged Amazon Music  @CreativeMamasUnplugged   YouTube  @CreativeMamasUnplugged iHeart Radio  @CreativeMamasUnplugged Podbean  @CreativeMamasUnplugged Lovlee Tang | Entrepreneur, Creative Leader & Speaker   Lovlee Tang is an entrepreneur, creative educator, speaker, wife, and mother of four who believes that creativity is not just something we do—it’s a powerful way to discover who we are, solve problems, lead, and create the life we envision. She is the founder of Lovlee Art Studios, a community art studio in Bloomfield, New Jersey, where she has built a business centered on creativity, connection, confidence, and creating meaningful experiences for people of all ages and abilities. With a background in Communications and Theatre, education, campus leadership, and entrepreneurship, Lovlee brings a unique perspective to conversations about creativity, leadership, vision, entrepreneurship, parenting, personal growth, and purpose. Her own entrepreneurial journey began after more than a decade in the traditional workforce and eventually led her from running a faith-based home preschool to building a thriving creative business and community studio. Lovlee is especially passionate about helping people recognize what is already within them and giving themselves permission to pursue the ideas, gifts, and possibilities they may have been sitting on. Much of her work centers around the question: “What’s in your hands?”—encouraging people to start with what they have, where they are, rather than waiting for the perfect opportunity or someone else’s permission. As a speaker and storyteller, Lovlee brings an honest, conversational approach to the table. She loves exploring the stories behind people’s success, the lessons found in motherhood and entrepreneurship, the realities of building something from the ground up, and what it means to continue growing while bringing others along with you. Whether she’s talking about building a brand, finding your voice, leading with purpose, raising children, navigating entrepreneurship, or turning creativity into possibility, Lovlee’s message is rooted in one simple belief: There is more in you—and more in your hands—than you may realize.   Lovlee Tan | Author   Lovlee is also a self-published author, using writing as another creative outlet to encourage others to pursue purpose, develop their vision, and embrace the possibilities within them. Her published works include: Buy the Book: Bloom Where You’re Planted: Align Your Purpose, Power & Possibility— a reflective workbook focused on purpose, mindset, leadership, personal growth, and learning to recognize the possibilities available right where you are. https://www.amazon.com/BLOOM-Where-You-Are-Planted/dp/B0CY8YN4QN The Adventures of Leroy— a children’s story that uses creativity and adventure to encourage young readers to explore, imagine, and see the world through a sense of curiosity and possibility. My Dream Journal — a guided journal designed to give children and families a space to capture their dreams, ideas, goals, and imagination while learning to put those thoughts into words and action. Her work as an author reflects the same philosophy she brings to her art studio and speaking engagements: our ideas are worth exploring, our stories are worth sharing, and creativity can become a pathway to possibility.   #DailyInspiration #CreativeMamasUnplugged #LovleeTang #FindYourJoy #CreativeLiving #FailForward #GiveYourselfGrace #WomenInCreativity #CreativeEntrepreneur #SelfExpression #CreativityAndConnection #WomenSupportingWomen #PersonalGrowth #LetGoOfPerfect #ArtAsHealing #FollowYourPassion

Her early years were spent attending Quaker schools, which helped shape a unique life perspective. After launching her career as a marketer and project manager in the technology and advertising industries, she decided to switch things up. Inspired by her actress mother to listen to her "funny bone", she took a leap of faith, and moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in comedy. She began studying at Second City and The Groundlings, which led to commercials, short films, and sketch comedies. However, she soon realized being in front of the camera wasn't what fed her soul, teaching was. This eventually would lead to teaching children and young adults the fundamentals of acting and improv. Kelly quickly became one of the most sought-after acting coaches in television, working on numerous pilots and television shows for Nickelodeon, Disney Channel, Amazon, and Netflix. From there, Kelly transitioned to Director, debuting on the Emmy Award-nominated Netflix show, ALEXA & KATIE, ultimately directing multiple episodes. She has since directed numerous episodes such as GRACE & FRANKIE, THE NEIGHBORHOOD, STATION 19, and the upcoming FRASIER revival, as well as becoming a pilot Director for COUNTRY COMFORT (Netflix), BLACK DON'T CRACK (ABC), LOPEZ VS. LOPEZ (NBC), and most recently, NON-EVIL TWIN (NBC). She is also a writer/producer and is currently developing several projects with her producing partner husband, John, having recently sold a multi-cam comedy to Universal Television, as well as to CBS Studios.

First, I grew up in Atlanta, GA. Then I went to college at a small liberal arts school in Kentucky. Four years later, I was a recent college grad living in NYC and working in marketing. In 2009, my then-boyfriend, now-husband, Ben, and I moved to Washington, DC for his job and I got another corporate desk job (not a great fit for my creative, entrepreneurial soul). So I became a yoga teacher and quit my corporate job to focus on yoga, art, and blogging (which is when I started my blog, Starr Struck). I became a yoga studio director. I opened an Etsy shop and started making greeting cards. I taught all of the yoga and wrote all of the blog posts and did lots of custom art on the side. In 2012, Ben and I got married and decided to move to Cape Cod (Ben’s hometown) to settle down and eventually start a family…which we did in 2016. Since then, I’ve started (and run) a graphic design + consulting business, taught yoga at many studios and in many different places, started and ended two podcasts, continued to create products and run my shop, had two kids, and eventually created @momlife_comics, an Instagram account where I share the challenges (+ joys!) of motherhood, marriage, and being a woman in this world. These days I’m teaching a lot less yoga and creating a lot more comics (my first book, a comic memoir entitled Mama Needs a Minute!, came out in March, 2025!), but I’m still a graphic designer + mom by day and teach two yoga classes per week. I’ve decided that finding balance is impossible but I am always doing my best to find joy amidst the insanity that is daily life with two young children.

Trophies (0:00), how a simple drawing tablet, years of blogging, and the challenges of early motherhood led to the creation of @momlife_comics and a thriving creative career (6:15), social media, supportive communities on social media and the viral moment that transformed Mary Catherine’s @momlife_comics, Mary Catherine opens up about the unexpected shift from an equal partnership to carrying the invisible mental load after becoming parents, and how those experiences continue to inspire her comics, writing, and advocacy (17:15).     WATCH ON YOUTUBE @ https://youtu.be/Cw-8Kh8ABVw    Hosts: Cherice Barton, Shelly Hutchinson Guest: Mary Catherine Starr Producer: Jessica RG O’Keefe, Breatheasy Productions Follow Mary Catherine Starr: Website https://www.marycatherinestarr.com/ Mary Catherine’s Book Mama Needs a Minute!
