Episode 41: "Don't be Short & Stupid"
2026/10/01
This episode starts on a funny note as we recap and review our summer before getting into conversations about independence, voting, and the realities of growing older. KP shares the hilarious story of vomiting on a rollercoaster, while Uzor tells us about getting recognized from the pod at work. We also shout out SerHybrid, Truth & Pristine for supporting the brand, and give a special shoutout to King Sunny Ade.From there, the Beef of the Week comes in hot; from short people at concerts blocking everyone’s view to establishments that refuse to let you use their toilets without buying something. Uzor also recounts the embarrassment of recommending Nigerian jollof to his coworkers only for the restaurant to fumble the delivery, while KP has a special message for LAX in regards to his first song. We also get into the ongoing “settings” babe/guy conversations and react to some of the biggest icks babes have about men.We round things off with a conversation about cancel culture, using Ed Sheeran’s latest controversy as the jumping-off point, before reacting to our favorite Comments of the Week and throwing in a surprise Question of the Day that you’ll have to tune in for. It’s a proper back-to-base episode with plenty of laughs, hot takes, stories, and gist all round.Join the Community:Join the conversation using #IGGFY and #IGetGistForYou, and follow us on Instagram and X @igetgistforyou.Hosts: @KpFawehinmi @uzxrmaIf you enjoyed the gist, please leave a rating on Spotify or Apple Podcasts, subscribe on YouTube, and share this episode with a friend!
Episode 40: "My Dad Did Not Believe in Me" ft. PROFFF
2026/09/16
This episode, we sit down with Timi to talk about his journey as a creative, how he discovered his love for the camera, and what it was like growing up as an only child. Uzor also gets personal, relating to Timi’s experience of being fat in school and becoming the funny guy as a way to survive high school. Timi opens up about his relationship with his dad, including being told he wasn’t talented, and how he learned to give his parents grace while navigating his own path.
We also get into the tension between STEM and the arts, the pressure to pursue a “serious” career after university, and what it really means to choose entertainment instead. Timi takes us through being a creative in Toronto, the realities of networking sideways and upwards, and finding love and alignment with purpose.
We also get into a Beef of the Week about dreams but you’ll have to tune in for the full gist.
To round things off, we dive into some unexpected territory with a conversation about sleep paralysis, before wrapping up what turned out to be a genuinely insightful and memorable episode with Timi; instagram - @pr0ffff. Catch Timi on Instagram and show him some love!

Episode 39: "Jude and Paul" ft. Taene I Get Gist For You Podcast
2026/09/02
This episode comes with a special guest, Taene; the “bad girl who makes badder music” joining us for a amazing episode on a packed Toronto weekend as Asake, Ed Sheeran, and BTS take over the city. We talk about her favorite songs to perform, our perceptions of Abuja shaped by social media, and how we each navigate Christianity as individuals. We also get into our Beef of the Week: why female Afrobeats artists struggle to reach the male artistes numbers and why male artists seem more willing to support and listen to other men.Things get even spicier as we unpack men losing the art of respecting women and asking for consent before touching them, interracial dating, and the concept of being a “babe-centric” man including the guys who can’t make a single decision without thinking about babes. We also debate the bizarre experience of seeing old twins, before Uzor calls out Ama and KP for allegedly diverting podcast funds and keeping him out of the money. Taene then gives us some real insight into artist management, visibility, and what a good manager should actually be doing for their artist. We round things off with another Beef of the Week, a little dilemma time that you’ll have to tune in to hear, and our unfiltered takes on comparing artists. And of course, shoutout to Taene go catch her music on all streaming platforms and follow her on Instagram @sheistaene. Episode 37: All My Friends Are Sleeping with Each Other
2026/08/07
This episode kicks off with a little World Cup banter before we briefly discuss the direction of Afrobeats, sparked by a song from Ef Moon. We also recap the previous episode before diving into the chaos of Caribana in Toronto, KP’s unforgettable forceful tipping encounter in Montreal, and our experience trying (and failing) to negotiate our very first podcast sponsorship deal. From there, we get into everything we’ve been watching lately, with Uzor reflecting on Call of My Life and seeing himself in one of the characters, while KP shares his excitement for The Odyssey and debates whether cinema subscriptions are actually worth it. The conversation gets even deeper as KP realizes all his friends somehow seem to be dating each other, before we emphasize our preferences in women. The episode wraps up with stories about the recent rise in thieves being caught across Nigeria, including hilarious memories of how theft was handled back in Covenant University. We also react to some of our favorite comments and fan mail from you guys, making this another episode packed with laughs, stories, and the kind of conversations that always go somewhere unexpected.Substack - https://aggyshwyl.substack.com/p/prescribed-vices-for-surviving-nigeriamedia?r=1ss1k9&utm_medium=ios&triedRedirect=true&fbclid=PAVERFWATiOVtwZG9mAmZkaWQWUMDJL9COqynluWRR8iuW0VY4Jl5xCmV4dG4DYWVtAjEwAHNydGMGYXBwX2lkDzEyNDAyNDU3NDI4NzQxNAABp1Eq1f2lHYZl54CCzTV976GCtYpcn3bgwVzgoXryviIE5Wh3DZNm6oqXX9wG_aem_OhfVh2cGJP0aK9aZ219KNwJoin the Community:Join the conversation using #IGGFY and #IGetGistForYou, and follow us on Instagram and X @igetgistforyou.Hosts: @KpFawehinmi @uzxrmaIf you enjoyed the gist, please leave a rating on Spotify or Apple Podcasts, subscribe on YouTube, and share this episode with a friend!
Episode 36: IGGFY VS Tipping Culture ft. Hermella
2026/07/22
This throwback episode takes us back to this time last year, giving you a glimpse of how the podcast started and the conversations that made you fall in love with us. We kick things off by comparing tipping culture in Canada and North America with Nigeria, unpacking how something that was once a kind gesture has become an expectation. The conversation gets even more chaotic as we share the craziest things we’ve ever done for love, debate who cheats more (and who’s actually better at cheating), and discuss the trend of male artists bringing female fans on stage during performances and the conversations that follow. This episode also features the amazing @hermellabokure, whose energy made for an unforgettable conversation filled with laughter, hot takes, and plenty of nostalgia. If you’ve ever wondered what the early days of IGGFY felt like, this is the perfect episode to experience it.Join the Community:Join the conversation using #IGGFY and #IGetGistForYou, and follow us on Instagram and X @igetgistforyou.Hosts: @KpFawehinmi @uzxrmaIf you enjoyed the gist, please leave a rating on Spotify or Apple Podcasts, subscribe on YouTube, and share this episode with a friend!
Episode 35: So Asake Na Alhaji? ft. Kaykeed
2026/07/08
This episode starts with a recap of the Historical Orchestra Night, where we unpack everything from how people showed up dressed to attention-seeking behavior, and the growing use of AI-generated flyers and cover art. As always, what starts as simple observations quickly turns into a hilarious and thought-provoking conversation.
The conversation then takes a much deeper turn as we discuss pedophilia, sexual harassment, and abuse, exploring the difficult realities surrounding these issues and the conversations we need to be having. We also dive into the popular polygamist series, sharing our thoughts, perspectives, and the questions it raises about relationships and society.
This episode is extra special as we welcome our very first guest, @Kaykeed_, who brought incredible insights, laughter, and energy to the conversation. From lighthearted banter to meaningful discussions, this is one of our most engaging episodes yet.

Episode 34: Inconvenience Is Not The Price for Community
2026/06/24
We’re back, and we’re drawing lines in the sand. In Episode 34, we’re tackling the fine line between being a supportive friend and just being a free service. If you’re still acting as your friend group’s personal Uber driver or unofficial event planner, this is your intervention—the gig is up.We’re also getting into the weird side of "community" and accountability. We’re debating whether the "No Child Left Behind" era created a generation of unaccountable adults, and we’re unpacking the collective trauma (and weirdly, the motivation) that comes with the "repeat year" experience in Nigerian schools.Plus, we’re asking the hard-hitting questions: Why is everyone suddenly obsessed with the "clubification" of fitness—what’s actually going on with this Pickleball and Pilates craze? And for the music heads, we’re settling the debate on why an artist’s debut album is almost always their best work. It’s another messy, unfiltered, and necessary conversation. Grab a drink, lock in, and let’s gist.

Episode 33: “I Don’t Want Children”
2026/06/10
Episode 33 is here, and we recorded this one under the sun, so the gist came out hotter 🌞We get into the stigma around vasectomies in African homes, the pressure of family planning, and why “purity culture” makes honest conversations about sex and responsibility feel like a crime. Is it selfish to choose a child-free life, or are people just finally being realistic about the world we live in?We also switch lanes into the "gist" of the week, starting with the viral "shouting guy" video and our collective frustration with the Nigerian airport experience: broken conveyor belts at MMIA, aggressive begging culture, those random “step aside” searches, and even a Nollywood actress with premium diva energy. We also tackle a listener dilemma: do you stay in a high-paying hybrid job in Nigeria that’s finally taking off, or risk it all for school and PR in Canada?Join the conversation using #IGGFY and #IGetGistForYou, and follow us on Instagram and X @igetgistforyou.Hosts: @KpFawehinmi @uzxrmaSupport the pod: we’re on the road to 100 episodes and 10k subscribers. Episode 32: I Get Rapture For You!
2026/05/27
What happens when you mix a missed Rapture, a four-hour ride-share from hell, and a friendship quiz that goes completely sideways? You get EP 32 of the I Get Gist For You Podcast! This week, The IGGFY Boys are back with some of the most unhinged hypotheticals yet. We talk about the desperate need for a "scent rating" on Uber. We also get into the cultural specifics of how African parents save phone contacts as well as Kp's Lesson Teacher that hated him. Plus, we put our friendship to the test to see who actually knows who—turns out, middle names and engineering degrees are harder to remember than you'd think! If you love relatable Nigerian stories, hilarious banter, and raw cultural commentary, this episode is for you. Episode 31: Is There No Puff-Puff in Heaven?
2026/05/13
This episode starts with us discussing the Michael movie —well, the 20 minutes Uzor actually stayed awake for—before he reveals the big news: his parents have finally discovered the podcast after 16 months of "Hannah Montana" living!
Things quickly get chaotic when KP shares the story of accidentally eating a "spiked" cake and having to survive a full family photoshoot while fighting for his life while still blaming Uzor for not warning him properly.
From there, we call out KP for becoming the exact type of gym content creator he once complained about after his weight loss journey, before getting into debates around kissing parents or kids on the lips and the strange culture of Nigerian stand-up comedy shows constantly turning into public fundraising events. We also unpack relationship discourse surrounding Megan & Klay and Indiyah & Dami, highlighting how people usually side with whoever they already like in the relationship regardless of the actual situation.
The episode wraps up with some truly wild takes and nostalgia as KP drops his conspiracy theory about Megan being a CIA agent, which somehow leads us into conversations about American Black prom culture, where society may have “gone wrong,” and memories of our own Nigerian prom experiences. We also touch on Nigerian stan culture and how intense fan behavior can get online, making this episode a hilarious mix of chaos, hot takes, and pure gist.

Episode 30: "Morality is a Privilege"
2026/04/29
Celebrating 30 episodes of I Get Gist For You! In this heavy-hitting episode, Uzor and KP dive deep into the uncomfortable realities of survival, immigration, and the complex relationship we have with our parents.
Is morality truly a privilege? We explore the concept of "survival mode" for Nigerians in the diaspora and how financial desperation can test your character in ways you never expected. From the trauma of shaming in the Nigerian school system to the heavy burden of "Black Tax," we’re pulling back the curtain on the "grace to grass" stories that many are too afraid to tell.
We also get personal about our own upbringings—discussing parental favorites, the impact of birth order on your perspective, and why some generations choose to break the cycle of trauma.
In this episode, we discuss:
The struggle of moving to Canada and the "Survival Mode" reality. Why "Morality is a Privilege" when you're fighting to keep a roof over your head. The "Black Tax" and the expectation to be the family savior.Traumatic parenting: From shaming students to the boy whose mother tore his passport.Breaking generational cycles and the decision to be better parents.

Episode 29: Mouth is Good Motors
2026/04/15
This episode kicks off straight with a Burna boy and Shallipopi reference as we dive into the Beef of the Week, taking on the immaturity and disunity of the Afrobeats Big 3 and sharing our unfiltered takes. We also break down Odumodu’s standout bars and the ongoing “sapa” label conversations surrounding Blaqbonez, setting the tone for a lively and opinion-packed start.
From there, we get into current events and real-life frustrations from Donald Trump and rising gas prices to the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026 in North America and what that could mean for traffic and safety for the players. We also unpack the irony of Nigerians campaigning for bad governance, voting the same people in, and then leaving, while touching on the “Godfather” role people play in kids’ lives and the expectations that come with it.
The episode rounds off with pure nostalgia and chaotic storytelling from the worst places we’ve ever slept to wild childhood injuries, rough play with siblings and family friends, and those moments where only God is your witness. We also touch on unconventional traditions like mixed bridal/groom trains, and close out with shoutouts to

Episode 28: You Are Just A Mere Mortal...
2026/03/25
This episode starts with pure banter as we revisit life in Nigeria and some of the hilarious (and questionable) hygiene practices from boarding house days. The conversation shifts as KP experiences a sudden electricity outage in Canada and realize how his family had no idea how to react, leading us to question how we actually survived constant power outages growing up in Nigeria.
From there, we unpack several chaotic internet topics including the saga of Michael from 90 Day Fiancé and his long-suffering pursuit of a green card, as well as the subtle social media captions from baby mamas that quietly reveal absent fathers. The gist also touches on a generation that seems oddly comfortable joking about hellfire, the strange idea of a “Christian Sex Toy” business model, and the frustrating culture of pastors who refuse to end services on time.
Things take a deeper turn as we begin deconstructing Christianity through the lens of our childhood. KP questions several Bible stories using logic, while Uzor insists that questioning God is fundamentally wrong. The discussion quickly escalates into a heated debate with special production and managerial guests Ama and Ichie joining in; as difficult questions about suffering, slavery, and global crises like the situation in Palestine are raised.

2026/03/11
This episode, we aren't even saying hi, we're going straight into our beefs! From Nigerian artists gatekeeping hits with 'snippet culture' to the audacity of Lagos brands charging in USD, we’re unpacking it all.The conversation takes a deeper turn into the future of AI, specifically deepfakes and cybercrime, inspired by the hit show To Kill A Monkey. They also explore the concept of elitism in Lagos, money laundering through businesses like clubs and restaurants, and the social dynamics of "stunting" on the internet as a politician's child.
