True Crime: Tracy Smothers verses Ricky Morton
2026/09/25
Aaron Gartlan presents SECW Action News Podcast, and this week pro wrestling historian and author Karl Stern takes a look at a crime that took place years after SECW and Continental Wrestling had ended but involved two people who wrestled for Continental Wrestling. In August of 1995, Tracy Smothers and Ricky Morton were top stars in both Smoky Mountain Wrestling and USWA when an incident occurred. Tracy Smothers and his girlfriend allegedly beat up the girlfriend of Ricky Morton, and she pressed charges against them. Despite the fact that Tracy Smothers and his girlfriend were arrested on felony assault charges it was Ricky Morton who Jim Cornette fired. Why? Well... you'll see. Oh, how this story would have played out in 2021. What a mess.

True Crime: Mr. Wrestling II Part 2
2026/09/16
We now dig deeper into the criminal case against Mr. Wrestling 2 (Johnny Walker) ... or so it seems. In the summer of 1953, a roving gang of juveniles are reeking terror on the beaches of Hawaii. Two gang assaults on teenage girls take place within the span of a few days with anywhere from 2 to 17 males involved. Two people are arrested in connection to each incident, and the court process begins. Over the course of a few weeks more and more members are arrested, the last of which is gas station attendant John F. Walker, the future Mr. Wrestling 2. Gartlan Law- Aggressive Advocacy. How did he become friends with a President all while being on an offender database in Hawaii? Then we begin the trek through the complex criminal case of Mr. Wrestling 2. This is, far and away, the most detailed examination of this story ever done. Gartlan Law- Aggressive Advocacy. Life Changing Results. Visit Dothan Personal Injury Lawyers - Gartlan Injury Law
True Crime: Randy Rose
2026/08/26
Aaron Gartlan presents SECW Action News Podcast and today's show is a research piece by pro wrestling historian and author Karl Stern. Many people are unaware of the story of original Midnight Express member Randy Rose. In the early 1980s he and Dennis Condrey and Norvell Austin were put together in a Freebirds type tag team in Southeastern Wrestling then they took the act to Memphis. Rose would largely fall out of sight for a few years before returning with Condrey to the AWA where they would be managed by Paul E. Dangerously (Paul Heyman) and win the AWA World tag team titles. But there is a dark side to the Randy Rose story, and some may feel he got a very light punishment for the death of someone. Here is that story. Gartlan Law- Aggressive Advocacy. The Crime of Ken Wayne
2026/08/19
Aaron Gartlan presents SECW Action News Podcast and today pro wrestling historian, and author Karl Stern discusses the criminal case against one-half of The Nightmares tag team Ken Wayne. Ken Wayne (Ken Peale) was a second-generation pro wrestler and worked a lot in the Memphis territory. He was a smaller junior heavyweight wrestler who worked under a variety of gimmicks before hooking up with Danny Davis as The Nightmares tag team. He traveled to Stampede, Crockett Promotions (as The Galaxians), and more before the duo settled into SECW/Continental where he spent several years as a multi-time tag team and U.S. Junior champion. Several years ago, he was arrested and imprisoned. Here is his story.
