LUTON ARE BACK TO WINNING WAYS! 🙌 But did we witness a stroke of GENIUS or a bit of STUPIDITY?! Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to look back on Luton's much-needed 2-1 victory over Barnsley at Kenilworth Road — and look ahead to Saturday's tricky test against Leicester City — all in one combined, packed episode of They Tried To Kill Us Off! The Hatters got the job done on Tuesday night, but what looked better about the performance? What still needs work? And did Luton get away with one when Barnsley appealed for a late penalty? We also debate some of Jack Wilshere's daring decisions, with Kev giving his verdict on whether they were good or bad. Mads Andersen scored and picked up the man-of-the-match award — after Kev had called for him to be benched! Or did he say he should play up front? Has the big Dane defender proved a point, and will Kev be eating his words? And what about the MASSIVE end-of-match handbags between players and staff after a confrontation between Wilshere and Barnsley boss Daniel Stendel? We're not supposed to love a football fracas… but let's be honest, we secretly do! 😂 Then it's on to the Foxes. The 2016 Premier League champions are next up at Kenilworth Road, but what makes them dangerous, and what will Luton need to get right to take all three points? Plus, we read YOUR comments, bring you the longest list of shoutouts in the three-year history of our video podcasts and make our score predictions! What are yours? 🎙️ The award-nominated, independent Luton Town podcast — made by Hatters, for Hatters. 💬 What did you make of the Barnsley performance? Was Wilshere's decision-making genius or stupidity? Did Andersen prove Kev wrong? And whose side are you on after the handbags? How confident are you ahead of Leicester? Luton Town's first trip to Stadium MK ended in a 2-1 defeat – and Kev and Jimbo are NOT seeing eye to eye! A spectacular Alex Gilbey strike, a costly mistake and a frustrating afternoon in Milton Keynes leave plenty to argue about on the latest episode of They Tried To Kill Us Off, the award-nominated independent Luton Town podcast. Kev is not happy, and The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe joins him to dissect the good, the bad and the ugly of the defeat. Was the performance really as bad as some of the post-match reaction suggested? Did Luton do enough to win? And was Gilbey's opener a lucky fluke or a wonder strike? Let's just say they don't agree! We also debate whether Jack Wilshere's time as Luton boss is up, why losing to MK Dons has provoked such a strong reaction. With the season approaching the 10-game mark, we look at the bigger picture, what needs to change and what comes next for the Hatters. Plus, we get stuck into your comments. It's a tetchy one. Expect strong opinions, plenty of disagreement and a proper post-match debate. What did YOU make of the performance? MK Dons v Luton Town is about much more than three points. 👀 For the first time, the Hatters head to Stadium MK — but the fixture carries decades of history, resentment and a reminder of how close Luton came to losing our club. Kev is “eternally grateful for those that fought so that they didn't steal our club”, as the boys discuss the proposed move to Milton Keynes in the 1980s, the protests that helped keep Luton Town in Luton, but later saw Wimbledon moved to Buckinghamshire and erased. With around 6,000 Hatters expected to make the trip, Kev believes “the needle” surrounding the fixture will help create a great atmosphere in the away end. But do you consider it a derby? Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to look ahead to Saturday's lunchtime clash, including the call from some Luton supporters to boycott the game and the arguments surrounding that debate. The boys assess the threats posed by an MK Dons side still searching for a win, the weaknesses Luton can exploit and how the Hatters can build on their impressive 4-1 victory at Wycombe. Who could come into the side? Which players could make the difference? And what are the boys predicting for the score? LUTON WIN 4-1 AT WYCOMBE — AND THE HATTERS OF OLD ARE BACK! 🤩 The Town returned to League One action with a statement performance at Adams Park, sweeping Wycombe Wanderers aside in a 4-1 demolition. A very happy Kev joins The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to dissect a brilliant afternoon for the Hatters — and ask whether the Luton that finished last season on a 12-game unbeaten run has finally returned. The boys start with the surprising starting XI and the blistering start that put the visitors in control. They celebrate two special strikes, pick apart the key moments and discuss the best performers in a Luton shirt. There were plenty of positives, although Kev and Jimbo also look at the parts of the performance that weren't quite so convincing. Kasey Palmer, Jamie Donley and Nahki Wells all got on the scoresheet, while Devante Cole netted his first league goal for Luton — his third goal in three games in all competitions. And with Jack Wilshere approaching his first anniversary in charge on Tuesday, the lads reflect on his first year at the club and what this result could mean for the months ahead. Was this just a brilliant afternoon at Adams Park, or the start of something bigger? THE NUMBERS SAY LUTON SHOULD BE 5TH… SO WHY ARE THEY 16TH? 😳 After an extended international break, the Town return to Sky Bet League One action with a short trip to Adams Park to face Wycombe Wanderers. Kev and The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe look ahead to what feels like a hugely important contest — and there's plenty to discuss before Saturday's trip to Buckinghamshire. The boys begin with some of the good news since the Bradford defeat, reflect on Luton's two Jersey Mike's Trophy victories and then turn their attention to Wycombe. They look at the Chairboys' style, their threats and weaknesses, who Luton need to watch out for and where the Hatters can cause problems. But there's also a BIG discussion around the numbers. Following Jimbo's analysis of Luton's defensive statistics on The Lutonian https://thelutonian.com/the-luton-defensive-numbers-that-wilshere-believes-tell-a-very-different-story-to-their-goals-conceded-column/, Kev says Wilshere needs to use the data to understand why the Hatters are underachieving so badly — with the numbers suggesting Luton should be 11 places higher in the table, sitting fifth. But as Kev puts it, it's time to move away from virtual predictions and make it happen in real life. The boys also pick their starting XIs and discuss exactly what they want to see from the Hatters and, of course, there's a score prediction. And there's another reason for optimism… Luton have NEVER lost at Adams Park, while Wycombe are still waiting for their first league win at home this season. Can the Hatters keep that record intact? 🎙️ They Tried To Kill Us Off... 🏆 Nominated for Best Football League Podcast at the Football Content Awards #LTFC #LutonTown #COYH #Luton #Wycombe #LeagueOne #FootballPodcast ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- *********BRAND NEW******** ☕🍺 Want to support They Tried To Kill Us Off? 👉 https://ko-fi.com/theytriedltfc   If you enjoy the podcast and want to help us keep it going, you can now support the show through our new Ko-fi account. THE DISAGREEMENT EPISODE. 😤 Luton went into the international break with a frustrating 1-0 defeat to League One leaders Bradford City — but there’s plenty to disagree about after Saturday’s game. Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to dissect the defeat, starting with events before kick-off and an interesting stats package from a rather unexpected source. The boys then get into Luton’s rotten start and the big call that almost immediately backfired. But was it all bad?  And then there’s the fallout since the loss. Jimbo challenges some of the criticism aimed at the Hatters and brings the stats to back up his argument. ANOTHER NIGHT TO FORGET. 😤 Luton suffered another fruitless trip to the SPORTA Arena on Thursday night as Stevenage beat the Town 2-1. Kev and The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe dissect an evening where things went wrong, almost from the very start, and ask what needs to change if Luton are to get their season back on an upward curve. Kev also picks out one statistic that sums up a major concern: George Johnston touched the ball three times every minute. And as Kev puts it, that isn't going to get Luton promoted. The boys go through the performance, where the Hatters fell short and what Jack Wilshere needs to do differently going forward. Plus plenty more of your comments than usual on the leading award-nominated Luton Town podcast. 🎙️ They Tried To Kill Us Off... 🏆 Nominated for Best Football League Podcast at the Football Content Awards WE NEED YOUR VOTE to stand a chance of winning in the Best Podcast - Football League category at the Football Content Awards on November 19. THE ACID TEST. 👀 Luton make the short trip to Stevenage on Thursday night looking for their first win at Broadhall Way in 12 years — but for the third game in a row they'll face a side that has just put FIVE past their previous opponents. Kev and The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe look ahead to the televised showdown, assessing Stevenage's strengths, weaknesses and the threats Luton will need to deal with. The focus then turns to the Town. Does Jack Wilshere stick with three at the back? Who should lead the line? And how can Luton hurt Stevenage? James believes this could be the acid test for whether Luton can “earn the right to play” — so what does that actually mean for the Hatters on Thursday night? Plus score predictions and plenty more on the leading award-nominated independent Luton Town podcast. FRUSTRATING. 😤 Luton produced some of their best football of the season against Leyton Orient on Saturday — so how did the Town end up with just a point? Kev and The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe look back on a 1-1 draw that saw Luton create chance after chance but ultimately fail to claim the three points their early dominance deserved. The boys go through the best of Luton's performance before getting into the incident that cost the Hatters two points and the moments that ultimately left them frustrated. There are plenty of positives too, not least Gideon Kodua's outstanding performance in midfield. James describes it as his “transformation and blossoming" into a central midfielder, as the pair discuss what could be a very significant development for the young midfielder. The lads also pick out the other key performers, discuss the concerns that need keeping an eye on and look ahead to what's next for the Town. Plus your comments and plenty more from the leading independent Luton Town podcast. 🎙️ They Tried To Kill Us Off... #LTFC #LutonTown #COYH #Luton #EFL #LeagueOne --------------------------------------------------------------------------- *********BRAND NEW******** ☕🍺 Want to support They Tried To Kill Us Off? 👉 https://ko-fi.com/theytriedltfc   If you enjoy the podcast and want to help us keep it going, you can now support the show through our new Ko-fi account. WHAT A HIT, SON! 🤯 The Town are BACK to winning ways — and Callum Marshall produced a moment of absolute magic to help Luton beat Stockport County 2-0 at Kenilworth Road. Kev and The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe look back on a game that went from a frustrating first half to a second-half performance full of energy, quality and one truly spectacular goal. Marshall's thunderbolt had Kenilworth Road on its feet, but was that just the start? Kev makes the bold claim that the young striker is like James Collins and Danny Hylton combined — and explains exactly why. The boys also debate boss Jack Wilshere's decision to change to three at the back, whether Luton should keep the same system against Leyton Orient and the dangers they'll need to deal with on Saturday, as we also preview the visit of the east Londoners, in this bumper episode, combined because of the fixture schedule.  Plus your comments, score predictions and plenty more from the leading independent Luton Town podcast. 🎙️ They Tried To Kill Us Off... #LTFC #LutonTown #COYH #Luton #EFL #leagueone  ------------------------------------------------------------------------- *********BRAND NEW******** ☕🍺 Want to support They Tried To Kill Us Off? 👉 https://ko-fi.com/theytriedltfc   If you enjoy the podcast and want to help us keep it going, you can now support the show through our new Ko-fi account. The Town produced a solid challenge at Chelsea on Thursday before getting mauled by Mansfield on Sunday afternoon. Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to look back on both matches, the ins and outs since the boys were last in the studio and the upcoming fixture against Stockport County on Wednesday night. The boys begin by going through the quartet of transfers in the last few days before they dissect the horror show at the One Call Stadium, highlighting where things went wrong and offering up possible solutions moving forward. The attention then turns to the positives from the defeat at Chelsea before they take a look at a clash against a familiar foe at Kenilworth Road this week. The Town go on their travels for two away games in three days with trips to Chelsea in the Carabao Cup on Thursday night and Mansfield in the league on Sunday afternoon. Kev is joined by Jimbo to preview both games. The boys start by addressing the cup tie, guessing how both teams could line up and what the night means in the overall picture. The attention then turns to the trip to Field Mill where Luton have a score to settle after failing to beat Mansfield last season. As ever, the chaps are on hand to point out the threats that Mansfield pose before discussing how Jack Wilshere’s men can hurt them and the personnel to do it with.
