Ep 14 - Takeaway
2026/09/25
Bandit just needs five minutes — the spring rolls aren't ready, there's one table, two daughters, and a whole lot of waiting. In "Takeaway," Justin and Jesse find what happens when a dad's best-laid plans collide with the beautiful chaos of small children in dead time, and why a fortune cookie read from the floor of a Chinese restaurant might be the most quietly theological moment in the whole series. They dig into Jesus calling the children to him (Matthew 19:14), GK Chesterton's stunning passage from Orthodoxy about God's "eternal appetite of infancy," and what it means that we've sinned and grown old while our Father is younger than we. If you've ever stood in a waiting room with little kids and just tried to survive five minutes, this one's for you.
Ep 13 - SpyGame
2026/07/28
Justin and Jesse take on an episode that neither of them ranks as a favorite — and still pull out a full table's worth of truth. When Bluey's spy-potion game collapses under her own bossiness, the fallout becomes a picture of why God designed us for community from the very first pages of Scripture. Along the way: a rock-stacking metaphor that doesn't quite stick, a cup in the ocean, and Bluey learning to put Bingo first.   What we unpack this episode: - The meltdown — assigned roles nobody wants, and how "taking your ball and going home" wrecks the game. - Bossiness bites back — Bluey refuses to use Bingo's pretend name (Sparkle Shocks), then kicks her out entirely. - Bandit's pack metaphor — "We all have a place in the pack," even when the stack-of-rocks illustration doesn't land. - The turn — Bluey realizes the game is simply better with her sister in it, and finally apologizes. - Putting others first — Bluey steps back so Bingo can take the moment, a picture of Christ-shaped humility.   Scripture in this episode: - Genesis 2:18 — "It is not good that man should be alone"; community is built into creation. - Ephesians 3:17-19 — rooted in love and filled with God's fullness, known together "with all the saints." - Hebrews 10:24-25 — a staple verse at our church: don't forsake gathering; spur one another on. - Philippians 2:1-4 — count others more important than yourself; the opposite of selfish ambition.   Books & resources: - Path of Progress — a gamified chore-and-discipleship app for families (30-day free trial at pathofprogress.ca). Ep 12 - Bob Bilby
2026/05/14
Welcome back to another exciting episode of Bluey and the Bible! In Episode 12, we are tackling the infamous grade school project: taking home the class pet. Bingo brings home a stuffed bilby named Bob, expecting a weekend full of fun family adventures to document for her class book. However, the Heelers run into a hilariously relatable snag—the entire family is glued to their screens. After snapping photos of Bob watching cartoons in the car and playing mindless tablet games, Bingo makes a tragic discovery: this is the most boring time Bob has ever had! To save the weekend, Bandit ditches the digital devices, busts out an old Polaroid camera from when he "used to be cool," and leads the family on an epic, screen-free bike ride to the park. In this episode, we unpack the very real struggle of screen time in modern parenting and how easily it can take over our lives. We dive into how our screen habits can actually reveal what our hearts truly treasure, drawing on timeless wisdom from verses like Luke 12:34 and Psalm 90:12. Join us for some honest confessions, practical tips, and plenty of laughs as we discuss how to put down the phones and intentionally redeem the time with our kids. Tune in to hear the full discussion—and to find out why you should definitely know the difference between an Australian wallaby and a bilby!
Character Profile: Chili
2026/04/16
Solo Short: Spotlight on Chilli Heeler! Welcome to a special, bite-sized character breakdown on the Blue in the Bible podcast! With Jesse out this week, Justin is flying solo to shine the spotlight on everyone's favorite red-and-cream Heeler mom, Chilli. In this fun, five-minute dive, Justin explores what makes Chilli such a fantastic mother to Bluey and Bingo, from her amazing multitasking skills to her willingness to jump right into their imaginative play. We'll also dig into some fun character details and hilarious online rumors, like the theory that Chilli's part-time job in airport security might mean she and Bandit are secretly running an espionage or art heist ring! Along the way, Justin connects Chilli's nurturing nature to the Proverbs 31 woman and discusses how a mother and father's balancing dynamics reflect a beautiful, complete image of God. Plus, as a fellow redhead with a family of redheads, Justin shares his personal appreciation for Chilli's ginger fur! Don't forget to leave us a rating and write a review to let us know what you think of these short character episodes and what you want to hear next. As always, we'll see you next time, kids!
Ep 11 - Bike
2026/01/31
We are back on the wagon and shaking off the rust for another episode of Bluey in the Bible! Join hosts Justin and Jesse as we head to the park for the episode "Bike",. Bluey discovers that riding a bike is "trifficult," leading to the classic declaration: "I quit",. But she isn't the only one struggling! We break down our Favorite Bits, including Bentley getting stuck on the monkey bars ("I'd like to get down now") and Muffin’s hilarious, "unacceptable" meltdown while trying to put on a backpack,. Plus, we discuss why Bingo decides that drinking water off the ground is a valid life choice. In this episode’s Dollar Bucks: Why does Bandit stop Bluey from rushing in to help her friends?. We explore the deep dad-wisdom of letting children struggle to build character, connecting Bandit's patience to Romans 5 and the idea that tribulation brings about perseverance. We also look at Deuteronomy 31 to see how, much like Bandit watching from the bench, God is the one who goes with us and never forsakes us. So, whether you are spinning in circles like Muffin or ready to try again like Bluey, tune in for some laughs and biblical encouragement. As we like to say: Catch you on the flip side, Willy!.

2025/07/31
In Hotel, Bluey and Dad run a wild and wacky pretend hotel—which room will Bandit call his own? Lots of fun is had,but in the background...Bingo keeps getting left out. In this episode of Bluey and the Bible, we talk about: What happens when kids (or parents!) make playtime all about themselves The power of including others—even when it means slowing down Why Philippians 2 reminds us that humility and love go hand-in-hand, even in pretend play Scripture Focus: 📖 Philippians 2:3–4 – "Do nothing out of selfish ambition… but in humility value others above yourselves." Whether you’re raising a “Bluey” or a “Bingo,” this episode is a powerful reminder: love looks like paying attention to the ones we’re tempted to overlook.

Ep 008 - Fruit Bat
2025/05/28
In this dreamy, nighttime episode of Bluey, our favorite blue heeler resists bedtime with one big wish: to become a fruit bat and stay up all night. But in true Bluey fashion, what starts as playful fantasy turns into a tender reflection on family, sacrifice, and rest. In this episode of Bluey and the Bible, we talk about: Why kids resist rest—even when they’re exhausted The beauty of sleep as a good gift from God How Bandit's quiet, unseen sacrifice reflects biblical fatherhood Scriptures we reflect on: 🌙 Genesis 2:1–3 – God rested, and so should we 😴 Psalm 127:2 – Sleep is a gift, not a punishment 🛏 Psalm 4:8 – Peace and safety in God's rest 👨‍👧 Proverbs 20:6–7 – The blessing of a righteous, faithful father Whether your child wants to fly with the bats or just never stop playing, this episode reminds us all that rest isn’t weakness—it’s worship.

Ep 006 - The Weekend
2025/04/22
This week on Bluey and the Bible, we look at The Weekend, where Bingo has a tough moment—and Dad gently shows up to help her through it. It’s a sweet reminder of the truth found in Mark 10:13–16: Jesus welcomes children, draws near to them, and holds space for their big feelings. As parents, we can model Christ’s presence—drawing near instead of stepping back, offering comfort instead of correction. Just like Bandit met Bingo where she was, Jesus meets our kids (and us) with compassion and love. Join us as we reflect on what it means to be present, gentle, and like Jesus in the little moments that matter most. Follow us on X, Facebook, and Instagram!

From Acts 2:42-45’s picture of devoted community, to 1 Corinthians 12:14-18’s reminder that every person has a purpose, and Romans 1:20-23’s warning about walking away from God’s design—this episode gives us a clear picture of why God’s ways are better. Join us as we talk about what it really means to walk in the light, to follow the rules with joy, and to trust that God’s boundaries are a gift, not a burden. Follow us on X, Facebook, and Instagram!
