You Hit Submit. Now What? - The Law School Application Waiting Game
2026/09/30
You hit submit on your law school applications. Now what?
The waiting period can feel strangely anticlimactic after months of work, but there’s plenty you can be doing while you wait.
In this episode, the GradMissions team walks through how to use this time strategically, from planning personalized law school visits and preparing for interviews to revisiting your application, reflecting on your goals, and figuring out what “fit” really means for you.
They also talk about what not to do, like sending premature emails of continued interest just because you haven’t heard back yet.
You did the hard thing. You submitted the application. Now it’s time to settle in, stay engaged, and get ready for what comes next.

Your Med School Interview Isn’t About Proving You’re Smart
2026/09/23
Getting invited to a med school or law school interview means you’ve already demonstrated that you’re academically capable. So what is the interview actually for?
In this episode of the GradMissions Office Hours Podcast, Autumn, Morgan, and GradMissions’ creative director Cole dig into what happens after you’ve “scaled the competency wall,” and why the next step is learning how to show up with warmth, confidence, and genuine connection.
Cole, a comedian with a background in improv and performance, joins the conversation to talk about helping applicants translate the stories and accomplishments already in their applications into engaging, natural conversations. The team discusses elevator pitches, eye contact, body language, listening, handling unexpected questions, recovering when an answer doesn’t land, and staying engaged when an interviewer gives you very little feedback.

The Case for a Gap Year Before Law or Med School
2026/09/16
Think taking a gap year will put you behind? Think again.
In this episode of GradMissions Office Hours, we make the case for taking a purposeful gap year before medical or law school and unpack why more time can actually move your application forward.
We talk about the difference between a strategic gap year and simply delaying the process, why the built-in “glide year” of the application cycle may not be enough, and how rushing to balance coursework, standardized tests, essays, and applications can leave applicants scrambling.

How to Be Human in Med & Law School Interviews
2026/09/09
Getting an interview invite means your application has already done a lot of the proving for you. So what happens when you walk into the room?
In this episode of GradMissions Office Hours, we’re talking about how to be human—not robotic—in med and law school interviews. We discuss why warmth matters just as much as competency, how hobbies and shared interests can create genuine connection, and why interviewers are more likely to remember how you made them feel than every accomplishment you list.

Red/Yellow/Green Flag: Applications Edition
2026/08/26
In this special episode of Grad Missions Office Hours, the team tackles common red, yellow, and green flags in med school and law school applications.
They cover what happens when you put the wrong school name in a personal statement, how to frame a rough freshman year followed by an upward academic trend, why having a parent call about your application is a major red flag, and whether joining a dozen organizations late in college actually helps your application.
How Rachel Got Into Yale Law With a 170 LSAT
2026/08/19
What does it take to get into Yale Law School when your numbers aren't at the top of the school's medians?
In this episode, Autumn and Morgan talk with Rachel, a future Yale Law student whose path to law school included a math degree from CU Boulder, work in gun violence prevention, an internship at the White House, and two years working for Gabby Giffords.
Rachel applied to nine law schools and was admitted to Yale, Harvard, Stanford, Duke, Georgetown, and CU Boulder. Her LSAT was a 170 and her GPA was a 3.91, both below the medians at Yale, Harvard, and Stanford. So what made her application stand out?
The conversation gets into one of the most important themes in the law-school admissions process: authenticity. Rather than trying to become the applicant a particular law school wants, Rachel learned how to show up as her whole self. That consistency created the "gossamer thread" woven throughout her entire application.

2026/08/12
Interview season is here, and med school interviews can feel like the most intimidating step after months of applications and secondaries.

They talk through how to prepare for different formats, what interviewers are evaluating, and why your ability to listen, communicate, and work with others matters just as much as having the “right” answers.

Here's Why You Should Go to an LSAC Forum
2026/07/22
The first LSAC Forum of the cycle has wrapped, which means another law school admissions season is officially underway.
In this episode, Autumn shares what it's like on the other side of the table after returning from the Washington, D.C. forum. From planning your route through a crowded ballroom to knowing which questions keep a conversation going, this is the advice that comes from years spent meeting applicants face-to-face.
There isn't one perfect way to work a forum. Some conversations will be memorable. Some schools won't be the right fit. The goal isn't to impress every admissions representative in the room. It's to leave knowing more than you did when you walked in.

Nobody is the "Perfect" Applicant
2026/07/15

In this episode of Grad Missions Office Hours, we're talking directly to applicants who don't fit the "perfect applicant" mold. Whether you're a splitter with mismatched GPA and LSAT/MCAT scores, a non-traditional student returning to school after years in the workforce, or someone worried about a less-than-perfect academic record, this conversation is for you.

Networking Without the Ick 101
2026/07/08
The students who hear about the next shadowing opportunity, the internship that never gets posted, or the attorney looking for a new assistant usually have one thing in common: someone thought of their name.
That rarely happens by accident.
In this episode, the GradMissions team talks about what networking actually looks like for future lawyers and physicians. Not crowded events or collecting business cards. More often, it's office hours with a professor. Coffee with a student a few years ahead of you. An email asking for 15 minutes. A handwritten thank-you after someone writes your letter of recommendation.
Networking isn't finished after one meeting. It grows through small moments that are easy to skip: a thank-you note, an update after an acceptance, remembering someone's work anniversary, volunteering without expecting anything back.
