Episode 86 Dating With Intention vs. Dating With a Deadline: Are You Rushing Into the Wrong Relationship?
2026/10/23
In this episode, I explore the difference between dating with intention and dating with a deadline—and what can happen when reaching the next relationship milestone becomes more important than learning who you're actually dating. After a recent Bumble match told me she expected to be in a relationship within a month and married within six months, it made me question whether rigid timelines actually protect our time or sometimes make us more vulnerable to choosing the wrong person. Someone agreeing that they want marriage doesn't necessarily mean they're trustworthy, compatible, or capable of building a healthy relationship with you. I also discuss how accelerated timelines can create pressure around sex, make it easier for someone to simply tell you what you want to hear, and cause progress to be mistaken for compatibility. Dating with intention should help you make better decisions—not allow the calendar to make those decisions for you. Episode 85 Fear of Being Single: Why People Choose the Wrong Relationships
2026/10/16
Why do people enter the wrong relationships—or remain in unhappy ones—simply to avoid being single? In this episode, I explore the fear of being single and the many pressures that can make having somebody feel more important than finding the right person. From loneliness and starting over after divorce to social expectations, family timelines, cultural traditions and the desire to have children, there are countless reasons people begin negotiating the standards they once considered essential. I also explain why even a carefully created Blueprint becomes useless when escaping singleness becomes the real goal. Being in a relationship isn’t proof that your life is working, and being single isn’t proof that something is wrong. The question isn’t whether somebody is beside you. It’s what happens to your life when they are. Episode 84 Why I’m Still Single as a Dating and Relationship Coach: Knowing When to Walk Away
2026/10/09
One of the first questions I hear when someone learns I’m a dating and relationship coach is, “Then why are you still single?” My answer is simple: in many ways, I’m single because I understand when something isn’t right for me. In this personal episode, I explain how I use The Blueprint Method in my own dating life. Knowing what I need is only part of the process. I also have to communicate it, pay attention to what happens afterward, and be willing to walk away when the foundation doesn’t fit. Being single doesn’t mean dating has failed. Sometimes it means you recognized the wrong relationship before attraction, loneliness, or outside pressure convinced you to accept it. Don’t choose a relationship just to make your life look right to somebody else. They don’t have to live in it. You do. Episode 83 How Much Communication Should You Expect? Early Dating Boundaries
2026/10/02
How soon is too soon to expect consideration from someone you’re getting to know? If you haven’t been on a date yet, do you have the right to address their communication, or are you expecting too much from a stranger? I recently found myself in this exact situation. After moving a conversation away from a dating app and exchanging numbers, someone I had been speaking to disappeared for days after reading my message. I knew she was dealing with something, and I never expected her to share the private details. All I wanted was a brief heads-up. In this episode, I share what happened and use The Blueprint Method to explore communication before the first date. I explain why exchanging numbers shows intent, how consideration can exist without sacrificing privacy, and why telling somebody what you need doesn’t make their effort less meaningful. Telling someone what you need gives them a path. Whether they choose to walk it tells you whether you should keep walking beside them. Episode 82 How to Move On From Someone Who Hurt You—Even When You Still Love Them
2026/09/25
You can know someone was wrong for you and still miss them. After betrayal, disrespect, or an abrupt ending, logic may tell you the relationship is over while part of you continues hoping they’ll return. In this episode, I explore what you’re actually grieving, why the person who caused the pain can still feel like the person who could relieve it, and how betrayal can damage the trust you have in yourself. We’ll also revisit why closure isn’t something you should wait for another person to provide and work through a practical ten-step plan for removing access, handling weak moments, rebuilding your routines, and moving forward without pretending the loss never mattered. Moving on doesn’t erase what you lost. It means the loss no longer gets to decide what you do with the life you still have. Episode 81 Stop Fighting Your Past: How Regret Keeps You Stuck
2026/09/18
How much time have you spent wishing you could go back and make a different decision? Maybe you stayed in a relationship too long, trusted someone you shouldn’t have, missed an opportunity, or made a choice you still regret years later. In this episode, I talk about why we spend so much time fighting with a past that can’t be changed. We judge old decisions using information we only gained afterward, imagine alternate versions of our lives where everything somehow worked out better, and punish the person we used to be for not knowing what we know today. This isn’t about pretending every decision was the right one or believing everything happens for a reason. Some choices were mistakes. Some experiences were painful. Some things probably would have been better if they had gone differently. But they didn’t. The question is whether there’s still something useful to learn from what happened—or whether you’re continuing to punish yourself for something that’s already finished. You can’t make a better decision yesterday. You can only make one today. Episode 80 Stop Trying to Change Your Partner: How to Know If You’re Truly Compatible
2026/09/11
Are you truly compatible with your partner, or are you waiting for them to become somebody else? In this episode, I look at what happens when our standards stop helping us choose and start becoming instructions for the people we date. Attraction can make a mismatch difficult to accept, especially when potential gives us a future version to hold onto. I bring it back to The Blueprint Method by exploring the line between healthy growth and trying to reshape another person. Accountability still matters, and a good relationship should influence both people. Loving somebody often means accommodating them because their happiness matters to you. The foundation still has to exist. Accepting a partner as they are may require admitting the relationship doesn’t fit. Choose someone for who they are, and let growth be something you share, never something you demand. Episode 79 Should You Be Vulnerable Before You Trust Someone? How Real Trust Is Built
2026/09/04
Should you wait until someone has earned your trust before you open up, or can vulnerability help you discover whether they’re trustworthy? In this episode, I explore what it really means to give someone the power to hurt you. Vulnerability doesn’t need to follow an arbitrary timeline, and opening up early isn’t automatically a mistake. The real question is what someone does with the truth you’ve trusted them to hold. Trust is built through evidence. One intimate conversation can create genuine closeness, but character reveals itself through how someone handles your honesty over time. Their response may not protect your feelings, although it can protect your time by showing you who they are before you invest months or years in the wrong person. I also talk about the strength required to act on what vulnerability reveals, the importance of explaining yourself clearly, and why openness should continue growing as a relationship becomes more serious. The goal isn’t to avoid ever being hurt. It’s to take emotional risks without abandoning your judgment. Being vulnerable risks pain. Staying guarded costs you the chance to be known. Episode 78 Is Your Relationship Worth Saving? How to Know When to Stay
2026/08/28
How do you know whether your relationship is worth saving—or staying has become another way of abandoning yourself? Love can make you want to fight for someone, but it can’t repair a relationship on its own. In this episode, I look at the evidence that helps you decide if staying still makes sense. Does the relationship have a healthy foundation? Is your partner taking responsibility without being chased? Has their apology produced genuine change? I also explore the difference between a difficult season and a destructive pattern, what mutual effort actually looks like, and how trust can be rebuilt after serious damage. Patience can be a beautiful part of love, but it becomes self-abandonment when the only progress is your growing ability to tolerate the same pain. There’s no universal deadline for healing. What matters is whether both people are participating in the repair, progress continues after the immediate crisis passes, and staying still allows you to remain yourself. Love may explain why you want to stay. The relationship tells you whether you should. Episode 77 When Love Is Worth Fighting For
2026/08/21
Have we become so quick to walk away from difficult relationships that we’ve forgotten what it means to fight for one that still has a healthy future? I spend a lot of time encouraging people to accept reality and leave when someone isn’t right for them. In this episode, I explore the other side of that conversation: what happens when you’ve chosen someone who truly fits your life and the relationship enters a difficult season? Love can’t be completely unconditional in a romantic relationship. Healthy love still needs boundaries, and damage has to be met with genuine responsibility. It also requires enough patience to avoid treating someone as disposable the moment they become difficult to love. I talk about durable love and the way repair turns staying into progress. Forgiveness matters too, because real change has to be allowed to count without pretending the damage never happened. I also look at the difference between supporting someone through a struggle and becoming responsible for holding them together. There’s something beautiful about two people deciding that what they’ve built deserves an honest chance. When both people take responsibility for their part, a painful chapter can become part of a stronger relationship. Knowing when to leave can save your life. Knowing how to stay can help you build one. For my books, podcast, and coaching, visit:https://joeyfrancess.com #relationshipadvice #healthyrelationships #commitment #relationshiprepair #love
Episode 76 Stop Trying to Win the Conversation: How to Listen Without an Agenda
2026/08/14
Sell me this pen. That question sounds like a sales challenge, but it reveals something much deeper about how people communicate. In this episode, I talk about what happens when conversation turns into performance, control, defensiveness, or projection. Whether it’s dating, relationships, friendships, work, or everyday life, a lot of people aren’t really listening. They’re trying to win, protect their ego, prove their point, or force the other person to fit a story they already believe. Real communication starts when curiosity comes before the agenda. We’ll talk about why people perform on dates, how arguments become courtrooms, why past pain can turn into projection, and why listening is one of the hardest relationship skills to actually practice. Because sometimes the conversation reveals the other person. Sometimes it reveals the relationship. And sometimes, whether you like it or not, it reveals you. Episode 75 When Your Partner Stops Trying: How Criticism and Rejection Kill Love
2026/08/07
What happens when your partner stops trying? Sometimes love doesn’t fall apart from one big betrayal. Sometimes it slowly changes through small moments. A correction. A rejection. A sharp tone. A sarcastic comment. A partner trying to help and being made to feel useless. A partner reaching for affection and being made to feel unwanted. In this episode, I talk about how criticism, rejection, resentment, and poor communication can quietly kill connection in a relationship. This isn’t about blaming men or women. It’s about looking at the atmosphere we create with the person we love. Because if someone keeps getting punished for trying, eventually they stop trying. We’ll talk about why partners pull away, how resentment builds around the home, why affection disappears, how to bring these issues up without turning them into another fight, and why being right doesn’t automatically mean you’re being loving. Before you ask why they stopped showing up, ask yourself what happened the last time they did. Episode 74 The Cost of Being the Strong One: Why Always Holding It Together Breaks You
2026/07/31
What does it really cost to always be the strong one? In this episode, I’m talking about the hidden weight of always holding it together, always being dependable, and always being the person other people lean on when life gets heavy. Being strong can be a good thing. But when strength becomes your whole identity, it can turn into emotional burnout, resentment, loneliness, and self-abandonment. You may look fine from the outside while quietly carrying more than you were ever meant to carry alone. I get into why some people struggle to ask for help, why being needed can start to feel like love, how this pattern shows up in relationships, and why suffering quietly is not the same as being strong. The truth is, you don’t need to prove how much you can carry. You need to ask why you keep accepting a weight that’s breaking you. Episode 73 Your Feed Is Not Real Life: How Social Media Is Warping Dating
2026/07/24
Is your feed shaping the way you see dating? In this episode, I’m talking about how social media can distort our perception of the world, especially when it comes to dating, relationships, love, men, women, red flags, and modern romance. The internet can show you something real without showing you the full truth. One story, one painful experience, one angry opinion, or one confident influencer can start to feel like evidence when the algorithm keeps feeding you more of the same. And that’s where dating gets dangerous. Because when your feed is full of betrayal, fear, gender wars, toxic relationship advice, and people turning pain into wisdom, you can start bringing that mindset into real life. You stop meeting people as individuals and start treating them like warnings. In this episode, I talk about confirmation bias, dating advice online, modern relationship roles, emotional maturity, why healthy love can look boring compared to chaos, and why your feed should never become your blueprint. The takeaway is simple: social media can teach you what to watch out for, but if you’re not careful, it can also teach you to watch out for love itself. Your feed is not real life. Episode 72 Love Doesn’t Last Without Repair: The Relationship Skill That Saves You
2026/07/17
What actually keeps a relationship alive after someone gets hurt? In this episode, I’m talking about repair — what it is, why it matters, and why “I’m sorry” isn’t always enough. Communication and acceptance are two of the most important things in any relationship, but repair may be the third piece most people are missing. Because love doesn’t last because nothing ever breaks. It lasts because two people care enough to clean up the damage before it turns into resentment. I’ll be talking about good repair, bad repair, apologies that don’t actually fix anything, and why so many couples keep having the same fight without ever really understanding each other. I’ll also share a simple exercise couples can use to slow down, listen better, and make sure both people actually understand what the other person is trying to say. You don’t have to be perfect to have a healthy relationship. But you do need to know how to come back to each other after something goes wrong.
