The $5,000 Question Every Esthetician Should Ask
2026/10/22
Is This Actually Making You Money? Just because you're investing in your esthetician business doesn't mean you're making a GOOD investment. 👀 In this week's episode of Estheticians in Business, we're continuing our four-part money series and talking about something every solo esthetician needs to consider before buying another machine, signing up for another certification, or adding another monthly expense. What's your return on investment (ROI)? I'm breaking down how to determine whether a business purchase actually makes financial sense, why following industry trends can get expensive FAST, and the questions you should be asking before spending thousands of dollars on something new. We're talking about: Why spending money on your business doesn't automatically make it a good investment How to calculate whether a new machine or service is worth the cost Why your current clients should influence your purchasing decisions How education, software, and client experience improvements can provide a return The one question to ask before your next business purchase Because just because everyone else is offering microneedling or buying the latest machine doesn't mean it's the right investment for YOUR business. Your homework: Before your next business purchase, ask yourself, "What do I actually expect to get back from this?" More revenue? Lower expenses? More time? More returning clients? If you can't answer that, maybe hold off on buying it. 😂 Inside the Estheticians in Business Membership, we're working on understanding your numbers, making smarter financial decisions, getting more clients, and building a business that actually makes you money. Posting But Nobody’s Booking? Listen to This
2026/10/19
Your Best Clients Might Already Be Watching You You're posting on Instagram, sharing your services, and trying to get more clients. But what happens when nobody likes, comments, or books? That doesn't mean nobody is paying attention. Some of your potential clients have been following you for MONTHS. Some have visited you once and haven't returned. Others have asked about a service but never actually booked. And sometimes they're watching everything you post without interacting at all. 😂 In this quick Monday Marketing episode, we're talking about why you shouldn't overlook the people who already know your business while you're trying to attract new clients. Why low engagement doesn't always mean your marketing isn't working Why some clients need to see your content repeatedly before booking How past clients and quiet followers could become your next appointments Why you should keep showing up even when nobody is commenting How to use your clients' questions to create content that connects Why following up with people who've already shown interest is so important Here's your homework this week: Before you go looking for 100 new people, look at the people who already know your name. Pick five people who have previously shown interest in your business and start a conversation. Maybe it's someone who asked about microneedling, a past client who hasn't returned, or someone who said she'd book when life calmed down. Not everyone watching your content is a stranger who needs to be convinced from scratch. In this episode:Need help getting more clients? Inside the Estheticians in Business Membership, you'll get weekly trainings, business resources, and Ask Al, where you can ask your specific business questions and get personalized support. Do You Actually Know What It Costs to Run Your Business? (2/4)
2026/10/15
Do You Actually Know What It Costs to Run Your Business? You know what your rent costs. You know what your booking software costs. But do you actually know how much it costs to run your entire esthetician business every month? In this episode of Estheticians in Business, we're continuing our money series and talking about the expenses that quietly eat away at your revenue. From backbar and credit card fees to random Amazon orders, subscriptions, equipment and education, those little purchases ADD UP. 😂 We're talking about: Why a $10K month doesn't automatically mean you're making good money The business expenses you're probably overlooking How to decide whether a purchase is actually worth it Why your expenses can increase right alongside your revenue How to evaluate the return on your business investments The simple money exercise every solo esthetician should do this month Because there's a BIG difference between intentionally spending $4,000 to run your business and wondering where the heck $4,000 went. Your homework? Pull up your business bank account and look at what actually came in, what went out, and where your money went. No guessing! 💰 Join the Estheticians in Business Membership We're diving deeper into making your money make sense, understanding expenses, knowing your numbers and building a business that actually pays YOU. If They Have to Ask How to Book, You Need to Fix That
2026/10/12
Your marketing worked. Someone found your business, liked what they saw, and wanted to book an appointment. But then they couldn't figure out where you're located, which service to choose, or how to actually book with you. And just like that, you've potentially lost a client. In this quick Monday Marketing episode, we're talking about how your booking experience could be costing you clients before they ever make it onto your treatment table. Why making clients work too hard to book can cost you appointments Why your location needs to be easy to find on Instagram and Facebook How to make your booking link easy to access Why new clients should know exactly where to start What to do when someone isn't sure which service to book A simple 5-minute booking audit you can do TODAY Here's your homework: Go to your Instagram, Facebook page, or website and pretend you've never seen your business before. Can you figure out where you're located? Can you book without messaging someone? Do you know what to do if you're unsure? Every extra thing a potential client has to figure out gives her another opportunity to say, “I'll come back to this later.” And we all know how that usually goes. 😂 Your marketing got her interested. Don't lose her because becoming your client is harder than it needs to be. Visit glossgenius.com and use code EIB for 50% off your first two months of their premium plans. You’re Making Money. So Why Does It Still Feel Tight? (1/4)
2026/10/08
You’re Making Money. So Why Does It Still Feel Tight? You’re making more money than you used to... so why does it still feel like there’s never enough? In this episode of Estheticians in Business, we’re kicking off a month of MONEY conversations, and we’re starting with the difference between making more money and actually keeping more of it. I’m sharing what this looked like in my own business when I hit six figures in less than 18 months and eventually had a $12K month... but realized the majority of that money was going right back into the business. We’re talking about: Why growing revenue doesn’t automatically mean you’re making more money How your expenses can grow right alongside your income Why two estheticians making $10K can have VERY different businesses The business purchases that quietly stack up Why your business doesn’t always need another machine, rebrand, software or expense The number I want you to look at from your last month Because sometimes the answer isn’t “I need to make more money.” Sometimes you need to understand what’s happening to the money you’re already making. And if your business is making more but somehow you still don’t feel ahead, I want you to look at how much came in vs. how much actually stayed. 💰 Want to go deeper? This month inside the Estheticians in Business Membership, we’re focusing on making your money make sense: what came in, what went out, what you actually kept, and understanding the numbers behind your business. Why Clients Get to Your Booking Site and Leave
2026/10/05
More services don't always make your business more appealing. Sometimes they just make it harder to book. If a potential client lands on your booking site and sees a custom facial, brightening facial, acne facial, dermaplaning facial, signature facial, deluxe facial, glow facial, and 15 other options... she now has to figure out which one she needs. She doesn't want to become the esthetician before she can book with you. In this quick Monday Marketing episode, we're talking about: Why too many choices can stop someone from booking How an overwhelming service menu can cost you clients Why potential clients want your recommendation Making it stupid easy for a new client to know where to start Using options like a New Client Facial or consultation to simplify booking Why cute service names aren't always helping people choose Your client doesn't need a million options. She wants to feel confident she's making the right choice. So here's your homework: Go to your booking site and look at it like you've never seen your business before. If you weren't an esthetician, would you know what to book? If the answer is no, make it easier. If you want more help making your business easier to market, sell, and grow, come join us inside the Estheticians in Business Membership. 🤍
The Clients You Might Be Losing Without Realizing It
2026/10/01
What happens when a potential client calls while you're in the middle of a facial and you can't answer? In this episode, I'm talking with Kate, founder of Zolie and an EIB Partner, about what those missed calls could actually mean for your business. We're talking about how clients are actually finding and choosing estheticians, what happens when you don't answer the phone, and how an AI receptionist can help answer questions, book appointments, follow up with potential clients, send texts, and take some of the everyday work off your plate. We also get into the questions I KNOW you're probably thinking 😂 Does it actually sound like you? What happens with client privacy?Does it work with your booking platform?Should every esthetician even have an AI receptionist? And Kate shares real numbers from businesses currently using Zolie so you can see what this can actually look like. How to Use Local Facebook Groups to Get Esthetician Clients
2026/09/28
How to Use Local Facebook Groups to Get Esthetician Clients Local Facebook groups can be REALLY good for getting esthetician clients, but you can't just drop an ad for your business once and expect people to start booking. You want to become the esthetician people in that group actually recognize, remember, and eventually recommend. In this quick Monday Marketing episode, I'm breaking down how I used Facebook groups in my own esthetics business and how I still coach estheticians to use them today. How to find active local Facebook groups that actually make sense for your business Why you need to know the group's promotional rules before posting How to write promotional posts around what potential clients actually want Why your Facebook group posts should encourage people to comment How to take those comments into the DMs and start real conversations What to do when a Facebook group doesn't allow business promotion Why participating throughout the week matters just as much as promotional posts How to become the esthetician people start tagging when someone asks for a recommendation The goal isn't to jump into a local group, post “I have appointments available!” and disappear. Show up. Have conversations. Answer questions. Let people get familiar with you. Eventually, when someone asks: “Who's a good esthetician around here?” You want people tagging YOU before you even have the chance to comment. If you're trying to get more local clients, Facebook groups are absolutely worth using. Just use them like a human instead of treating them like a free advertising board. 😂 And remember: get people interacting with you, then get into the DMs and have the conversation. Can Your Business Afford You?
2026/09/24
You had a $10K month. Amazing. But how much of that $10K actually became YOUR money? In this episode of Estheticians in Business, we're talking about the number that doesn't get talked about nearly as much as revenue: what your business actually pays you. I'm sharing what happened when I hit my first $12K month and my husband asked me, “Okay... but where is it?” 😂 Because even though my business was making more money than ever, almost all of it was going right back into the business. We're talking about the difference between business revenue and YOUR income, constantly reinvesting instead of paying yourself, looking at the ROI before making another business purchase, and what to look at if your business genuinely isn't making enough to pay you yet. And I'm giving you one super simple assignment: Look at your last three months and ask: What came in?What went out? What did I actually pay myself? Because I want you to have the $10K, $15K and $20K months. But I also want YOU to make money. Your business doesn't get to be the only one benefiting from all this work. You own the thing. You should benefit from owning it.
If they don't know you exist....
2026/09/21
People Can't Book With You If They Keep Forgetting You Exist You can be an incredible esthetician, but if people don't know you exist, they can't book with you. And sometimes they DO know you exist. They saw your post. They thought about booking. They meant to come back to it. Then life happened. In this Monday Marketing episode, we're talking about why consistently reminding people about your business is part of marketing and why repeating yourself probably isn't nearly as annoying as you think it is. Why marketing is often the first thing to disappear when business or life gets busy Why someone not booking doesn't automatically mean they weren't interested How much we overestimate how closely people are paying attention to our businesses Why repeating your message is part of helping people remember you The importance of staying visible even when you're busy Why follow-up and reminders aren't automatically annoying What happens when you stop talking about your business and expect people to remember you Your potential client has an entire life happening outside of your business. She can see your post on Tuesday, think, “I need to book that,” and completely forget about it five minutes later. That doesn't mean she decided not to book. Sometimes she just needs to see you again. And again. And again. You're probably tired of talking about your business way before your potential clients are tired of hearing about it. So keep showing up. Keep talking about what you do. Keep reminding people how you can help them. Because people can't book with you if they keep forgetting you exist.
Your Clients Don’t Get First Dibs on Your Calendar
2026/09/17
Put Your Vacations on the Calendar Before Your Clients Do If you own your business, why does it sometimes feel like your clients own your calendar? 😂 In this episode, I’m sharing something I started doing every January when I was still in the treatment room: blocking off my life before opening my calendar to clients. Vacations, birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, random Wednesdays off... if it was important to me, it went on the calendar first. We’re talking about building your business around the life you actually want, preparing financially for time off, and why I’d rather take a little longer to reach a business goal than spend years missing the things that are important to me. Pasted text In this episode: Why I started blocking my time off at the beginning of every yearWhat dates to put on your calendar FIRSTHow to work your revenue goals around vacationsWhy time off can actually create more urgency around your availabilityThe lesson I learned after building my business FASTYour business should support your life. You have to build it that way.
This is actually how you get clients
2026/09/14
Your client probably isn't waking up thinking, “You know what I need today? A 60-minute customized facial with LED.” 😂 She's thinking about her dry skin. The breakouts she's still dealing with at 35. The dark circles that make her look more tired than she feels. The 14 skincare products sitting on her counter that she has no idea how to use. The appointment is what she books. But what happens because of that appointment is why she actually cares. In this Monday Marketing episode, we're talking about how to stop leading your marketing with service names, treatment details, and everything included in the appointment and start talking about what your client actually wants from it. Why your clients may not understand what your service names actually mean The difference between what your client books and what she hopes happens because she books it How to market the payoff of your services instead of only the appointment Why clients often want you to take the decision-making off their plate How to connect your services to the real-life and emotional reasons people buy Why you don't need to promise life-changing results to create emotion in your marketing A simple exercise to turn your top three services into better marketing Try this with your top three services: She books: ________ What she really wants: ________ If we accomplish that, she gets to: ________ That last answer is where some of your best marketing can come from. Before you market your next opening, ask yourself: What does my client hope is different because she came to see me? Not what the appointment includes. Not how long it is. Not which machine you're using. Your service is what she pays for. The outcome is why she cares. This is the third episode in our Monday Marketing conversation about selling differently, so go back and listen to the previous two episodes if you missed them! $0 to $10k

🎙️ You Probably Don’t Need More Clients to Hit $10K Months If I gave you 10 new clients next month, would that automatically get you to a $10K month? Or would it just make you busier? In this episode, we're talking about why more clients, more services, more posting, and more education aren't always the answer when you're trying to increase your income. Because you can be fully booked and still not make enough money. You can have a packed week and still wonder where the money went. And you can keep trying new strategies so often that your business never has a chance to build momentum. We’re talking about the math behind your business, panic marketing when things get slow, constantly creating new offers, and why you may already know enough to grow. The question is whether you're actually using what you know. And if $10K months are something you want, I'm going MUCH deeper on this Monday. Monday, September 14th at 12 PM Central We're getting into the things I believe are actually keeping solo estheticians from reaching consistent $10K months, and it isn't about adding a million more things to your business. Even if you're nowhere near $10K yet, this training is for you if you want to understand what needs to happen in your business to eventually get there. Register here: [LINK] There will be a short replay available, but if you can join me live, DO IT. I'll be answering questions and have some bonuses for those who show up live. Before Monday, ask yourself: If I got more clients tomorrow, would that actually increase my income the way I want it to... or would I just be busier? See you Monday. ❤️
Why No One Is Booking From Your Instagram
2026/09/07
Your Marketing Might Be Too Educational You've been told to educate your audience, so you post about ingredients, treatment benefits, and how skincare works. But does knowing more about skin actually make someone want to become your client? In this Monday Marketing episode, we're talking about the difference between being an educator and being an interpreter in your marketing. Your potential client isn't necessarily looking for an esthetics class. She wants someone who understands what she's experiencing and can help her. Why educational content isn't bad, but may not be enough to make someone want to book How to translate your expertise into something your client actually recognizes in her own life Why technical skincare content can accidentally speak more to other estheticians than potential clients How to start with what your client feels, notices, wants, or is frustrated by A simple self-check to use before posting: Would my ideal client understand this, care about it, and know why it matters to her? How to move from what she's experiencing to why it may be happening and what you would recommend Why your client doesn't need to know as much about skin as you do. She needs to know that you understand her skin and can help her. The takeaway: Don't remove the education. Change the way you enter the conversation. Start with what she's experiencing, explain why it may be happening, and then show her what you would recommend. Inside the Estheticians in Business Membership, we work through the actual process of getting better at marketing, sales, and running your business. What If Nothing Is Wrong With Your Business?
2026/09/03
Episode description:Solo estheticians are constantly looking for something to fix. A slow Tuesday, a reel that flops, a client who doesn't rebook, and suddenly it feels like the whole business needs an overhaul. Allyson breaks down the difference between an incident and a pattern, and why changing everything the moment something feels off usually does more harm than the thing that actually went wrong. Show notes:This week's episode asks a question most solo estheticians never sit with: what if nothing is actually wrong with your business? Business fluctuates. A client tips you nothing one day and $100 the next. A post gets 300 views one week and 3,000 the next. That's normal. The problem is treating every uncomfortable moment like it requires a complete overhaul. The real test: is it an incident, or a pattern? One client doesn't rebook, that's an incident. Your rebooking rate has dropped for six months, that's a pattern. One slow week, that's an incident. Revenue has declined significantly over four months, that's a pattern.A reel flops, that happens. Your content stops creating any conversation or inquiries for a long time, that's a pattern worth looking at.Plus a real story about almost overhauling an entire partner-vetting process because of one uncomfortable interaction, and why "chillax, give it a minute" might be the most useful business advice in this whole episode.
