Description

Real stories. Real people. Real reminders that you are never alone. Welcome to Angels Among Us, where we sit down with ordinary people who have lived through extraordinary things. These are stories of faith, miracles, heartbreak, hope, divine timing, and the people who show up exactly when they're needed most. Sometimes the angels in our stories are unseen. Sometimes they're unmistakable. And sometimes they're simply the people God places in our path. Our hope is that as you hear these stories, you'll recognize the angels in your own life, feel a little less alone in whatever you're facing, and maybe even realize that you can be an angel for someone else. We're Brent and Mikaela, and we're so glad you're here. Go look for those angels. 🤍

S2 Ep76: SSW One More Day -- Wendy McCarthy
2026/09/30
“Just give it one more day.” Wendy McCarthy never forgot those words from her mother. Years after surviving a life-threatening blood clot during pregnancy, she held onto them through a dark season of postpartum depression. On this Short Story Wednesday, Wendy joins Brent and Mikaela to share the comfort she felt from an unseen presence in her hospital room, the love of a mother who held her while she cried, and why she sees her daughter as an angel in her life. Now a grandmother, Wendy shares her gratitude for all that came after—and a heartfelt reminder that it’s okay to reach out and ask for help. S2 Ep75: Paralyzed at 15... The Miracle She Didn’t Expect -- Natalie Buchoz
2026/09/27
What does a miracle look like when you’re still living with the thing you prayed would change? At 15, Natalie sustained a spinal cord injury in a skiing accident. During her emergency helicopter transport, she had an experience she describes as entering a place that felt like home—an experience she kept to herself for ten years. Natalie joins Brent and Mikaela to share what came afterward: the struggle with comparison, the desire to feel “normal,” and the gradual discovery of purpose and joy through her faith in God. She also shares the everyday angels who helped her along the way, from a mother who never made her feel like a burden to friends who simply sat beside her. An honest conversation about suffering, belonging, and learning to recognize miracles in unexpected places. Content note: Includes descriptions of a serious accident and difficulty breathing, discussion of infertility, and brief references to sexual assault and kidnapping. Go look for those angels. 🤍 Find & Follow Natalie here:https://www.instagram.com/nataliebuchoz/ Have you encountered angels? S2 Ep74: Short Story Wednesday -- You are the ONE
2026/09/23
A birthday cake. Taco leftovers. An extra pan of lasagna. Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness mean more than we could ever know. This Short Story Wednesday, Brent and Mikaela revisit Adam Trask’s story of delivering cake ingredients to a man who had been praying for a way to celebrate his wife’s birthday. They also share listeners’ experiences of following a prompting—and showing up with exactly what someone needed. Together, they reflect on an honest question: With so much suffering in the world, does God still care about our individual needs? A conversation about listening to those quiet nudges, caring for each other, and remembering that you are loved. Go look for those angels. 🤍 Here's the link for Elisha's book:https://a.co/d/0eE7J0z9
S2 Ep73: He Felt Abandoned by God Then He Learned to Listen -- Adam Trask
2026/09/20
How do you learn to trust God when you’ve spent so much of your life feeling abandoned? Adam Trask grew up with homelessness, abuse, and addiction in his family. This week, he joins Brent and Mikaela to share how he began recognizing Christ’s presence in his life... and how that changed the way he cares for others. From birthday-cake ingredients delivered at just the right time to a prompting that helped put his newborn son near lifesaving medical care, Adam’s stories are heartfelt, sometimes hilarious, and full of reasons to show up. We also talk about marriage, listening without trying to fix everything, and learning that you don’t have to serve perfectly to help someone feel loved. Be sure to hear Adam’s wife, Elisha, in our previous episode. Content note: Includes childhood abuse and neglect, substance use and overdose deaths, suicide and suicide loss, fatal accidents, and an infant medical emergency. U.S. crisis support: call or text 988. Go look for those angels. 🤍 Have you encountered angels? Please let us know if you or someone you know has a story that needs to be shared. S2 Ep72: Angel of the Week -- Kyle & Miranda
2026/09/18
Thanks for joining us for our very first Angel of the Week! 🤍 This episode was recorded live, but we kept the broadcast private as a test run while we worked out all the details. From here on out, we’ll actually be LIVE with all of you—reading your comments, answering questions, and hopefully sharing some really special moments together. We haven’t decided on an official day or time yet, but we’ll be announcing that very soon! For now, we hope you enjoy our very first weekly Angel of the Week. We all have people in our lives who deserve to know how much they mean to us. Sometimes we just need a reminder to tell them. Do you have an angel in your life you’d like to nominate? Send us their story at **[email protected]**. We would love to hear about them and possibly feature them in an upcoming Angel of the Week. S2 Ep71: SSW Will He Know Me?
2026/09/16
Will He Know Me? This week on Short Story Wednesday, Mikaela reads a talk she recently gave at church about what it really means to know Jesus Christ and make Him a part of our homes and our everyday lives. She shares honestly about infertility, unanswered prayers, imperfect homes, and why following Christ doesn’t mean life will always go the way we hoped. Sometimes the miracle isn’t God removing the trial—sometimes it’s who we become as we walk through it with Him. No matter how far we’ve wandered, because of Jesus Christ, there is always a road home. 🤍 Go look for those angels. 🤍
S2 Ep70: She Prayed... And Two Angels Appeared -- Elisha Trask
2026/09/13
Elisha Trask grew up surrounded by homelessness, addiction, and abuse. When she was six years old, she prayed for help during a terrifying encounter with her father—and saw two men dressed in white appear behind him. That moment taught Elisha that she could call on God. Years later, urgent spiritual impressions would lead her to pray for her son while he was in danger on a mountain, find her toddler moments before a devastating fall, lock a door just before someone tried to enter, and offer messages of love to strangers carrying private grief. Elisha also shares how Jesus Christ helped her break the cycle of abuse—not by instantly removing every harmful impulse, but by giving her the opportunity to choose a different response. This tender conversation is an invitation to listen more closely, pray more intentionally, and act when someone is placed on your heart. Content note: This episode discusses childhood abuse, suicide, sexual assault, addiction, and death. Go look for those angels. 🤍 Have you encountered angels? S2 Ep69: Rewind -- Episode Three -- Teagon Bo
2026/09/09
For today’s Short Story Wednesday, we’re rewinding to the third and final chapter of our own story—the story that helped inspire Angels Among Us. Looking back on the miracles that brought our family together still blows us away. We’re grateful for the chance to remember where this journey began, reflect on how far we’ve come, and share it with you once again. Thank you for being here. We hope you enjoy the final chapter of our story. Go look for those angels. 🤍
S2 Ep68: "Thomas Isn't Here Yet" -- LaRee Baker
2026/09/06
After losing multiple babies, LaRee Baker found herself grieving, afraid, and questioning the identity she had built around motherhood. Then, while praying in her closet, she heard a little girl’s voice say, “Thomas isn’t here yet.” LaRee shares how that moment led her to Thomas, what happened after doctors said he was blind, and the experience that helped her believe the children she lost were still part of her family’s story. She also opens up about postpartum depression following miscarriage, raising children with special needs, receiving help from a neighbor she now calls her angel, and learning to find her identity in God rather than in what she could accomplish. This is a tender conversation about loss, healing, motherhood, heavenly and human angels, and the God who holds us in our pain. Content note: This episode discusses miscarriage, infant and childhood loss, postpartum depression, disability, and difficult pregnancies. Have you encountered angels? Please let us know if you or someone you know has a story that needs to be shared. Follow us on our social media. We will do our best to post uplifting quotes and short stories. S2 Ep67: Short Story Wednesday -- The Beach & Big Goals
2026/09/02
This week’s Short Story Wednesday is a little different. We’re sharing two recent moments from our own lives that have had us thinking a lot about gratitude, purpose, and what might be ahead. First, we share a little about our recent trip to the Oregon Coast—a place that holds a lot of meaning for Mikaela. Years ago, she went there during one of the hardest seasons of our infertility journey, wondering why the one thing she wanted most still hadn’t happened. Seven years later, we returned to that same beach with our two kids running through the sand. It was a beautiful reminder that some of the things we have today are the very things we once prayed desperately for. Then we share some pretty big dreams for the future of Angels Among Us. We don’t just want to grow a podcast—we want to use this platform to become angels for other people. Whether that means helping with groceries or bills, helping a family with adoption or IVF, or simply being there for someone who needs it. We don’t know exactly where this journey will take us, but we’re putting the dream out there—and we’re grateful you’re along for it. Go look for those angels. 🤍
S2 Ep66: 12 Hours Later... A Miracle -- Hunter Rasmussen
2026/08/30
In a matter of seconds, Hunter Rasmussen’s life changed forever. While hunting with his cousin, Hunter was accidentally shot in the leg. As he was being carried toward a Life Flight helicopter, unsure of what was going to happen, he asked God, “Is everything going to be okay?” The answer came clearly: “Hunter, everything’s gonna be okay. It’s gonna work out.” What followed included emergency surgery, the loss of his leg, an incredibly difficult recovery, and moments that tested Hunter physically, emotionally, and spiritually. But through it all, that simple promise stayed with him. In this episode, Hunter shares the remarkable circumstances surrounding his rescue, the angels he believes were working on his behalf, and the faith that helped him move forward when his life suddenly looked completely different than he had planned. Hunter’s story is a powerful reminder that God’s promise that things will work out doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll work out the way we expect—but it does mean He can be with us through all of it. Go look for those angels. 🤍 Follow Hunter here: https://www.instagram.com/1_legged_hunter/ Content note: This episode includes discussion of an accidental shooting, serious injury, amputation, and medical trauma. S2 Ep65: Short Story Wednesday on a Thursday
2026/08/27
Short Story Wednesday… on a Thursday. 😂 This week we're sharing a few life updates, an incredible act of generosity from one of our own “angels,” and a simple challenge that we're bringing into our home: choosing a scripture each week to ponder, memorize, and carry with us. And this week's scripture couldn't fit Angels Among Us any better: “Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.” — 2 Kings 6:16 Sometimes we can only see what's right in front of us. But what if we could see everything God has placed around us? What if our eyes were opened, like Elisha's servant, to see that we have never been as alone as we thought? We hope you'll join us in “ponderizing” a scripture each week—and maybe start with this one. Go look for those angels. 🤍
S2 Ep64: Someone Fought For Me -- Tracey & Hannah Gray
2026/08/23
Tracey’s life began in circumstances no child should ever have to endure. After entering the foster care system as a baby, he experienced severe childhood trauma and abuse that eventually led to addiction, treatment facilities, suicide attempts, and years of trying to outrun his past. But God kept placing people in his path who refused to give up on him. His adoptive parents. A caseworker who fought for him. A judge who saw something worth saving. And eventually Hannah—the woman who would become his wife and help him realize that what he had been through did not have to define who he was. Today, Tracey is a husband, father, firefighter, and paramedic. And in an incredible full-circle chapter of his story, the former foster child eventually became a foster father himself. When Hannah and Tracey welcomed Austin into their home, they had no idea how many “Godwinks” would surround his adoption—including an unbelievable connection between Austin’s case and Tracey’s own foster-care story decades earlier. This is a powerful conversation about trauma, recovery, faith, marriage, foster care, adoption, redemption, and the angels God places in our lives when we need someone willing to fight for us. And Hannah and Tracey leave us with this beautiful truth: There is nowhere you can go that Jesus won’t still love you. Your sin can never outrun God’s grace. Go look for those angels. 🤍 Content note: This episode includes discussion of childhood abuse, sexual abuse, suicide attempts, addiction, and the death of a child. Have you encountered angels? S2 Ep63: Short Story Wednesday -- I Know That My Redeemer Lives
2026/08/19
In this week’s Short Story Wednesday, it’s just Brent and Mikaela, and things get a little bit all over the place. 😂 We’re calling out a few states that apparently need to step up their Angels Among Us listening game, talking about hitting more than 100 episodes, dreaming about some new Angels Among Us merch, and sharing a beautiful story about a little boy who remembered the grandfather who “brought him to earth.” But underneath all the fun is a reminder we both needed. Sometimes God’s answers don’t come through huge miracles. Sometimes they come through a phone call, a friend who stays, a spouse who carries us through a hard season, or someone who says exactly what we needed to hear. And sometimes the difficult things we go through are the very experiences that help us come to know our Savior personally. Brent shares why he can say with confidence, “I know that my Redeemer lives,” and Mikaela reminds us that when heaven feels quiet, the answer to “Where are You, God?” may be standing right beside us. We hope this episode reminds you to notice the people God has placed in your path—and to remember the truths you already know. And as always… Go look for those angels.
S2 Ep62: "Mom, I Was Told To" -- Melody & Krissa
2026/08/16
What happens when the miracle isn’t the ending you prayed for? In this powerful episode of Angels Among Us, Melody shares the story of her son Adam—a little boy whose life was filled with unmistakable moments of faith, miracles, and angels. Years before Adam became sick, their family survived a terrifying car accident. Just before the crash, six-year-old Adam turned around and grabbed onto the seat—a decision that may have saved his life. When everyone later told him how smart he had been, Adam simply told his mom: “Mom, I was told to.” A few years later, at just nine years old, Adam was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a form of brain cancer. What followed were years of chemotherapy, radiation, surgeries, hospital stays, moments of hope, and devastating news. Through it all, Melody and her family began to recognize the many ways God was preparing them, carrying them, and placing angels in their path. Perhaps most powerful of all was Adam’s own faith. As his cancer progressed, Melody asked him if he knew what it was like to die. His eyes lit up. “Yes, Mom. You’re with people that love you. And you don’t have pain.” Not long after, Adam told her he needed to prepare because he would be “leaving on my mission really soon.” This episode is about childhood cancer and unimaginable loss—but it is also about something much bigger: a loving Heavenly Father who does not leave us alone in our hardest moments. Melody’s story is a beautiful reminder that sometimes angels come as family members, neighbors, doctors, church members, or strangers who simply show up when we need them most. And sometimes, those angels may be on the other side of the veil. We hope Adam’s story strengthens your faith, helps you recognize God’s hand in your own life, and reminds you to cherish the ordinary moments with the people you love. ❤️ If this episode touches you, please share it with someone who may need it today, and subscribe or follow Angels Among Us for more stories of faith, hope, miracles, and the angels God places in our lives. "Go look for those angels." Have you encountered angels? Please let us know if you or someone you know has a story that needs to be shared. Follow us on our social media.
