What Does Integration Look Like After Awakening? | Joel Monk
2026/09/25
At 24, Joel Monk was DJing in Manchester when he woke up one morning in tears. He realized he had lost touch with himself. Soon after, he sold his records and left for India. In this episode of The Deep Coach, Joel joins Jonathan Hermida to explore what happened next—and the years of awakening, difficulty, and integration that have shaped how he lives and coaches today. Joel is the co-founder of Coaches Rising, a coaching education platform that trains thousands of coaches each year and brings together leading teachers in human development and transformation. He also hosts the acclaimed Coaches Rising podcast and is a transformational coach whose clients have included media personalities, heads of banks, serial entrepreneurs, and Zen masters. Joel shares an unexpected awakening experience in Dharamsala, the questions it left him with, and how he eventually found his way into coaching. He also speaks openly about a much more difficult period in his early forties—a dark night of the soul—and how the love of his family, support from teachers, and everyday responsibilities helped him through it. Throughout the conversation, Joel describes how his relationship with the spiritual path has changed. He speaks about enjoying being himself, feeling more deeply, and becoming more available to the people and life around him. His ongoing integration has brought a simpler question into focus: Is he becoming more caring and generous? Joel and Jonathan also explore how these experiences inform transformational coaching, including the shift from self-improvement to unfoldment, meeting someone without an agenda to change them, and paying attention to the relationships and environments that shape their life. They discuss the realities of running organizations while staying connected to the inspiration that brought them to this work. ⏰ Timestamps: 02:47 Before the Turning Point04:57 Tears and Pilgrimage10:23 Direct Path Breakthrough25:41 Dark Night at 4236:36 Simplicity in Integration38:25 Sutric vs Tantric Paths40:19 Non Duality and Humanity46:39 Practice Meets Healing47:47 Coaching in Context55:30 Unfoldment and Trusting Emergence🔗 Connect with Joel Website: Coaches RisingLinkedIn: Joel Monk Learn More About Our Work At the Center: Website: https://www.centerfortransformationalcoaching.com/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@thedeepcoachInstagram: https://instagram.com/thedeepcoach➡️ Download our Free Guide: "How to Make a Living as a Transformational Coach" 💡 Please subscribe to get updates on the latest episodes. Leading in Chaos: Healing, Consciousness & the Future of Leadership with Amy Elizabeth Fox
2026/09/03
What if many of the challenges we face in our organizations and our world are fundamentally problems of consciousness? In this episode of The Deep Coach, Jonathan sits down with Amy Elizabeth Fox, co-founder and CEO of Mobius Executive Leadership and co-author of Leading in Chaos, for a deeply personal conversation about healing, leadership, trauma, spirituality, and human transformation. Amy shares how fear and difficult experiences in childhood sparked an early spiritual search, how music became a portal into experiences of the divine, and how facing cancer in her twenties brought profound clarity to the purpose of her life. From there, they explore Amy’s journey into leadership development and her pioneering work bringing deeper healing into organizational settings. Amy explains why changing behaviors and mindsets alone often isn’t enough, how unresolved trauma can shape the way executives lead and relate, and what becomes possible when leaders begin addressing the deeper material they carry. They also explore vertical development, embodiment and somatic practice, collective trauma, the importance of integration after transformational experiences, and the surprising kinds of organizations embracing this work. Ultimately, the conversation widens beyond leadership itself into what this moment in history may be asking of us: greater interdependence, surrender, service, and a willingness to become what Amy calls an “instrument of repair.” In This Episode 02:43 Childhood Fear And Control 04:40 Music As Divine Portal 06:43 Grace And Spiritual Teachers 10:37 Cancer And Life Purpose 13:33 From Cathedral To Mobius 16:31 Faith Meets Climate Action 20:41 Beyond Behavior Change 22:31 Trauma In The Workplace 27:23 Executive Healing Outcomes 31:49 Integration After Breakthrough 33:56 Synchronicity And Seeking 35:06 Heart Opening Group Alchemy 36:29 Vertical Development Defined 37:34 Embodiment Somatic Practices 40:21 Organizations Ready For This 46:38 Repair Bowing Down Conclusion Connect with Amy Elizabeth Fox Website: www.amyelizabethfox.com LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/amyelizabethfox/ Learn More About Our Work At the Center: Website: https://www.centerfortransformationalcoaching.com/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@thedeepcoachInstagram: https://instagram.com/thedeepcoach➡️ Download our Free Guide: "How to Make a Living as a Transformational Coach" 💡 Please subscribe to get updates on the latest episodes. From Seeker to Guide: The Next Stage of Your Journey
2026/08/13
There comes a point on every transformational journey when our attention begins to shift—from healing and understanding ourselves to feeling called to serve others. In this solo episode of The Deep Coach Podcast, Jonathan Hermida explores three stages of this journey: healing, learning, and serving. He looks at what happens when we get stuck in endless learning, the temptation to compare ourselves to more polished voices, and why stepping into service doesn’t require becoming an influencer or having everything figured out. Ultimately, the transition from seeker to guide begins with something much simpler: connecting with others, trusting what has been cultivated within you, and finding the places where you feel genuinely called to serve. Nicholas Janni: Why Awakening Alone Isn’t Enough | Healing, Leadership & The Future of Conscious Business
2026/07/02
What if awakening isn’t enough?  In this profound conversation, Jonathan sits down with transformational leadership pioneer Nicholas Janni to explore the intersection of healing, awakening, and conscious leadership. Nicholas shares his extraordinary journey—from London’s underground music scene, to Tibetan Buddhism, radical theater in Poland and Switzerland, drumming in West Africa, bodywork in Hawaii, and ultimately into the boardrooms of some of the world’s most powerful organizations.  Together they unpack why so many leaders are unconsciously driven by deficit, how trauma shapes performance, what it means to become a “Leader as Healer,” and why humanity may be standing at the edge of an entirely new paradigm. This is a conversation about flow, presence, enoughness, and the deeper intelligence that emerges when we get out of our own way.  If you’re a coach, leader, entrepreneur, or seeker, this episode will challenge how you think about success, healing, and transformation.  ⏰ Timestamps  02:52 London Subculture Awakening  05:43 Buddhist Breakthrough  09:48 Theater as Spiritual Path  21:27 From Flow to Healing Work  37:23 Healing Base Camp Rises  38:57 Leader as Healer Origins  44:36 Bringing Healing to Executives  48:43 Enoughness and Awakened Economics  58:10 New Paradigm and Closing Advice  ____________________  🔗 Connect with Nicholas:  Website: https://www.nicholasjanni.com/  Leadership Work: https://www.thematrixdevelopment.com/  LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/nicholas-janni/  📘 Books:  Leader as Healer: https://a.co/d/0fX2GxY2  Leading in Chaos: https://a.co/d/0hn4f2xw    Learn More About Our Work At the Center: Website: https://www.centerfortransformationalcoaching.com/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@thedeepcoachInstagram: https://instagram.com/thedeepcoach➡️ Download our Free Guide: "How to Make a Living as a Transformational Coach" 💡 Please subscribe to get updates on the latest episodes. 2026/06/18
What if the journey of transformation isn’t a journey at all, but actually a distraction from what's really here? In this expansive conversation, Jonathan sits with Nithya Shanti to explore the tension between seeking and surrender, monkhood and worldly life, silence and expression. Nithya shares his path from childhood loss to monastic devotion, and the eventual unraveling of the very ideas that once shaped his spiritual identity. The Hidden Resistance to Our Full Potential
2026/05/21
Why do we so often resist the very things we say we want most? In this solo episode, Jonathan explores the subtle and deeply human tendency to resist joy, love, abundance, and our own potential. Drawing from personal experience, transformational work, and the concept of the “upper limit problem,” this conversation dives into the unconscious ways we self-sabotage when life begins to feel too good. Jonathan reflects on healing, gratitude, embodiment, emotional capacity, and what it truly means to expand our ability to hold light — not just pain. The Pathless Path: How to Trust Life When Everything Falls Apart with Phyllis Lane
2026/03/26
Many people believe that if they can just find the right plan, the right strategy, or the right path… life will finally feel stable, clear, and under control.  But for Phyllis Lane, life unfolded in a very different way.  After the unraveling of a long-term relationship, the collapse of a shared business, and the loss of many of the structures she once relied on, Phyllis found herself with nothing to hold onto—no clear direction, no plan, and no guarantees.  What emerged wasn’t a new strategy. It was a deeper way of living.  In this conversation, Phyllis shares how she learned to move beyond the thinking mind and into a life guided by intuition, presence, and trust. Through creativity, movement, and deep inner listening, she discovered what it means to live the “pathless path”—where life is no longer something you control, but something you allow to move through you.  Together, Jonathan and Phyllis explore what it truly means to let go of control, trust the unknown, and follow the aliveness of life itself.  What we explore in this episode…  01:51 Reunion and the beginning of an unraveling  03:26 Growing up in a turbulent environment and developing sensitivity  04:57 Martial arts as the first doorway into intuition  05:39 The modeling world and a wake-up call around identity  06:48 Leaving New York and moving to the desert in search of something deeper  07:49 Art as the turning point back into the inner world  09:33 Movement, creativity, and releasing stored emotional energy  12:17 Trusting the flow and becoming a channel for life  18:54 Lessons from business, partnership, and pressure  24:21 Inner child healing and learning not to abandon yourself  31:34 When life tests your peace  32:36 “Going home” as a spiritual practice  34:38 Meeting fear at the edge of the unknown  35:44 Intuition as a daily devotion  40:20 Trusting creative work and the flow of income  50:23 Her book Living the Flow and the final invitation to leap  ___________________________  🔗 Connect with Phyllis  🌐 Website: www.phyllislane.com  📸 Instagram: @phyllislane    Learn More About Our Work At the Center: Website: https://www.centerfortransformationalcoaching.com/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@thedeepcoachInstagram: https://instagram.com/thedeepcoach➡️ Download our Free Guide: "How to Make a Living as a Transformational Coach" 💡 Please subscribe to get updates on the latest episodes. What Happens After Awakening? Insights From a Former Buddhist Monk with Steven Lane
2026/03/12
What happens after a spiritual awakening? Many people imagine awakening as the end of the journey — a permanent state of clarity, wisdom, and freedom. But for Steven Lane, a spontaneous awakening in his mid-twenties was only the beginning. In this conversation, Steven shares the surprising reality that followed his awakening experience. Despite profound insights into the nature of reality, he discovered that old patterns, conditioning, and human limitations didn’t simply disappear. Wanting to understand what had opened within him, Steven spent seven years as a Buddhist monk before eventually returning to the world — building a family, studying psychotherapy and coaching, and developing an integrative approach to transformational work.   In this episode, Jonathan Hermida and Steven explore the deeper arc of transformation: awakening, integration, and the ongoing work of becoming fully human. Leadership, Parenting, and the Inner Work That Shapes the Future with Ger Daly
2026/02/12
Where does deep inner work, leadership, and parenting intersect? This conversation with Ger Daly explores what it means to fully commit to one’s transformational journey—and how that inner work inevitably shapes the relationships we enter, the way we raise our children, and how we lead others in the world. Ger reflects on how disconnected he once was from himself, and how a serendipitous encounter with a masseuse named Alma—“soul” in Spanish—became the unexpected catalyst for his awakening and ongoing transformation. He also shares vulnerably about his daughter’s prenatal diagnosis, and how love, presence, and inner work carried him and his wife through the fear and uncertainty of facing a worst-case scenario. Together, Jonathan Hermida and Ger explore why the era of knowledge and performance is giving way to embodiment, nervous system regulation, and personal sovereignty—and why these capacities are becoming essential for leaders and parents navigating an increasingly complex world. ⏰ Timestamps 03:37 Ger Daley's Early Struggles and Awakening06:27 Discovering Healing Practices12:16 The Power of Meditation and Energy Work14:25 Becoming a Coach and Transformational Leader19:44 Navigating Relationships and Personal Growth25:12 Challenges and Reclaiming Personal Agency29:13 The Importance of Humility and Continuous Growth32:04 A Life-Changing Experience: Annie's Birth34:58 Overcoming Medical Challenges and Finding Strength37:12 Living with Love and Embracing the Unexpected39:28 Annie's Miracle Journey41:52 Choosing the Right Partner44:43 The Healing Power of Relationships49:11 Moving to a Remote Island55:46 Raising Conscious Children01:05:15 The Future of Leadership01:12:26 The Age of the Wisdom Worker01:13:16 Opportunities in a Changing World01:14:52 The Importance of Self-Awareness01:16:31 The Power of Inner Work🔗 Learn more about Ger : Website: https://www.gerdaly.ieLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ger-daly-coach/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/gerdalycoaching/ Learn More About Our Work At the Center: Website: https://www.centerfortransformationalcoaching.com/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@thedeepcoachInstagram: https://instagram.com/thedeepcoach➡️ Download our Free Guide: "How to Make a Living as a Transformational Coach" 💡 Please subscribe to get updates on the latest episodes.
