Episode Thirty Eight S2: Chilli Chocolate, Smut & Rooksgrave Chapters 11-21
2026/10/07
Send us Fan Mail This week Katy has a plan. Rosie does not know about the plan. The plan involves chilli chocolate and some very spicy passages from A Lady of Rooksgrave Manor by Kathryn Moon and it goes about as well as you'd expect — which is to say the chocolate was a complete letdown and Rosie was robbed of the full experience. We will not be accepting feedback about this. We dive into chapters eleven to twenty one of this Victorian monster romance and things are getting considerably more complicated for Esther at the manor. The gentlemen are multiplying, the atmosphere is getting thicker, and we are firmly in the thick of it. ☕ Grab your cuppa. And maybe some actually spicy chocolate. Rosie deserved better. ⚠️ Trigger warnings: explicit adult content, non-human love interests. Episode Thirty Seven S2: Serviced Part One & I'm Fine ft. Richard Hall
2026/09/30
Send us Fan Mail This week Katy is on holiday so Rosie holds the fort solo — and she does a brilliant job of it. Rosie sits down with the remarkable Richard Hall to chat about his debut memoir I'm Fine — a book that is brave, searingly honest, and at times genuinely difficult to put down. In 1996, at fourteen years old, Richard met a man who changed the course of his life. Two and a half decades later, he called the police. The result was a twenty-two year prison sentence. This is the story of everything that came before that phone call — told with the unflinching candour, dark humour and razor sharp wit of someone who has truly reckoned with their own story. It is moving, important, and Richard is an absolute joy to talk to. Plus Rosie's Bit on the Side returns with part one of Serviced — book four in the Cutlery series — and the cutlery universe continues to expand in ways we could never have predicted. ☕ Grab your cuppa. Rosie's got this. ⚠️ Trigger warnings: childhood sexual abuse, grooming, exploitation. This episode deals with serious themes but is handled with care and sensitivity. Episode Thirty Six S2: Solo Katy, a Sentient Ampersand & Wandering Strong ft. Hope Bytheway
2026/09/16
Send us Fan Mail This week things look a little different at the Cosy Cup — Rosie is poorly, Katy is running on no sleep whatsoever, and Rosie is also on holiday so she's missing out twice over. We soldier on regardless because that is the Cosy Cup way. Katy is joined by the wonderful Hope Bytheway — pen name of English teacher, editor and saxophone player Lorraine Watson — to chat about her debut novel Wandering Strong, book one of the Coeur Legacy series. Farran Armstrong has always felt that her story is part of something bigger, and she's right — this is a dual timeline historical fiction where hidden truths, magical forces and quiet rebellion weave together across time. It is atmospheric, emotional, and full of the kind of forgotten voices that stay with you long after the last page. We had a brilliant chat about bringing it to life. Plus Rosie's Bit on the Side this week features a sentient ampersand. Yes, the punctuation. We are not elaborating further. You simply have to listen. Episode Thirty Five S2: Rosie vs the Quiz & A Lady of Rooksgrave Manor Chapters 1-10
2026/09/09
Send us Fan Mail This week Katy has once again surprised Rosie with a game she was absolutely not prepared for and we are not sorry about it. Rosie's reaction speaks for itself. Katy's smugness also speaks for itself. We also dive into the first ten chapters of A Lady of Rooksgrave Manor by Kathryn Moon — book one of the Tempting Monsters series and an absolute BookTok institution. Esther is a young Victorian maid on the brink of losing her position and with very few respectable options left — so naturally she ends up at Rooksgrave Manor, a house of decidedly ill and unusual repute, full of gentlemen who are not quite what they seem and a daily level of decadence that would make your granny faint. It is spicy, it is atmospheric, it has monsters, and we are already feral about it. Ten chapters in and we have opinions. ☕ Grab your cuppa. Victorian monster romance and an unprepared Rosie. We are thriving. Support the show Check out our socials: TikTok  Instagram  YouTube  Niles' Historical Footnotes Edited by: Kelly Jones Fantasy Author
Episode Thirty Four S2: Scrubbing Up & The Onus ft. Lee Adam
2026/09/02
Send us Fan Mail This week Katy and Rosie are joined by the brilliant Lee Adam to chat about his debut novel The Onus — a gritty, high octane crime thriller set in the mean streets of Glasgow. Amos Fisher is a broken man with a fractured relationship with his estranged daughter Mary — and when she is kidnapped by her crime lord boyfriend, Amos will tear through an entire city's worth of underworld to get her back. Fast paced, emotionally gutting, and absolutely relentless from the first page. We had a brilliant chat with Lee about bringing this one to life and we may or may not have got a little emotional about it. Plus Rosie's Bit on the Side this week features a sentient cleaning sponge that becomes a man and turns out to be surprisingly good company. Katy had feelings. The sponge had more. ☕ Grab your cuppa. Glasgow crime and a very clean romance. We contain multitudes. ⚠️ Trigger warnings: violence, kidnapping, crime themes. Episode Thirty Three S2: Twenty Questions & the Quicksilver Finale (We Have Notes)
2026/08/26
Send us Fan Mail This week Katy and Rosie finish Quicksilver by Callie Hart and we have THOUGHTS. Strong thoughts. Loud thoughts. The ending has been discussed and we were not impressed and we will not be keeping that to ourselves. We also play twenty questions book character with Rosie in the hot seat — and let’s just say her performance was not what we would call impressive. Katy did her best. Rosie did not. We love her anyway. ☕ Grab your cuppa. We finished the book and we need to talk about it. ⚠️ Trigger warnings: graphic violence, adult content. Episode Thirty Two S2: Clowns, Balloons & Blood Hunt
2026/08/21
Send us Fan Mail This week Katy and Rosie have a proper chat about Blood Hunt by the brilliant Marnie L. Norton — book one of the Female Rage series, and yes, it is exactly as feral as it sounds. Bronya is a Strzyga cursed to avenge witchkind and wreak destruction upon all men in a world where witch blood is a currency and a commodity, and witches have been hunted and bled for a century. It is dark, atmospheric, fiercely feminist and we had a lot of thoughts. Marnie couldn’t join us this time but she will be on very soon — watch this space. Plus Rosie’s Bit on the Side this week is a squeakual. Following on from the beloved tale of the shapeshifting balloons comes the next chapter — a shapeshifting clown enters the picture and, reader, they all find each other and live happily ever after. It is the wholesome ending nobody asked for and everybody needed. Katy’s reaction to the reunion was everything. ☕ Grab your cuppa. Female rage and sentient inflatables. Just a normal Tuesday. ⚠️ Trigger warnings: dark fantasy themes, violence, adult content, female rage (the good kind). Episode Thirty One S2: Who’s Got Your Back & Quicksilver Chapters 23-34
2026/08/12
Send us Fan Mail This week Katy and Rosie are back with chapters twenty three to thirty four of Quicksilver by Callie Hart and things are getting SIGNIFICANTLY more unhinged. We are not okay. We were not prepared. We will not be taking questions at this time. We also tackle this week’s big question: which book character would be the best at actually protecting you if things went sideways? Not the most attractive option, not the most fun option — the one you’d genuinely want in your corner when it all kicks off. The answers were debated with great passion and absolutely no objectivity whatsoever. ☕ Grab your cuppa and possibly a comfort blanket. Chapters 23-34 require emotional preparation. ⚠️ Trigger warnings: graphic violence, adult content. Episode Thirty S2: Old Bastards, Scottish Accents & a Man Who Used to Be a Drink ft. Stevie Duffy
2026/08/05
Send us Fan Mail Episode Thirty S2: Old Bastards, Scottish Accents & a Man Who Used to Be a Drink ft. Stevie Duffy This week Katy and Rosie are joined by the wonderfully chaotic Stevie Duffy to chat about his debut novel Old Bastards — a gloriously filthy, outrageously funny comedy set in a nursing home where the residents are absolutely feral, the staff are barely holding it together, and nobody is behaving themselves. Think less peaceful twilight years, more booze-soaked chaos with extremely questionable decisions and characters you will fall completely in love with despite everything. We had an absolute blast chatting with Stevie — and yes, the Scottish accent is exactly as good as you’re imagining. Plus Rosie’s Bit on the Side this week features a man who was, until recently, a margarita. Not a sentient margarita — we want to be very clear on the terminology — just a man with a very unusual origin story and apparently a lot to offer. Katy had questions. Many questions. We should also mention that there may or may not have been an additional presence in the room for this part of the episode. We’re saying nothing further. ☕ Grab your cuppa. Or a margarita. We don’t judge. ⚠️ Content warnings: "Con Non Con", crude humour, adult content, themes of ageism Support the show Check out our socials: TikTok  Instagram  YouTube  Niles' Historical Footnotes Edited by: Kelly Jones Fantasy Author
Episode Twenty Nine S2: Chapters 11-22 Kingfisher & the Woman Behind the Press ft. Rhonda Penders
2026/07/29
Send us Fan Mail This week Katy and Rosie are back with chapters eleven to twenty two of Quicksilver by Callie Hart and things are getting considerably more complicated for Saeris and Kingfisher. We have thoughts. Strong, chaotic, slightly feral thoughts. No spoilers here but the slow burn is doing its job and we are not coping well. We are also joined by the remarkable Rhonda Penders, co-founder, President and Editor in Chief of The Wild Rose Press — a publishing house built from scratch in 2006 by two authors who were thoroughly fed up with how the industry treated writers. Over 500 authors and 3,500 titles later, Wild Rose Press remains one of the most author-friendly publishing houses around. We chat with Rhonda about what it really takes to get published, what she looks for in a submission, and what authors consistently get wrong. If you have ever dreamed of getting your book out into the world, this one is unmissable. ☕ Grab your cuppa. Romance, fae warriors, and a masterclass in publishing. We have range. Episode Twenty Eight S2: A talking pickle & The Ink Beneath ft. Elenor Pountain
2026/07/23
Send us Fan Mail This week Katy and Rosie are joined by the wonderful Elenor Pountain to chat about her debut novel The Ink Beneath, book one of the Shadows of London series. Lucas doesn’t exactly fit the usual profile — a precise, solitary man who has been perfecting the art of control since he was fifteen. Then he meets Jas, a water-loving barista who is light and mischief and quiet strength all at once, and suddenly his very carefully constructed world starts to come apart at the seams. He saved her life. She claimed his thoughts. The line between protector and predator has never been blurrier and we are absolutely not okay about it. Plus Rosie’s Bit on the Side this week features a sentient penis from outer space, courtesy of the magnificent Sabrina Cross, and it is exactly what it sounds like. Katy’s reaction was a journey through several distinct emotional stages. ☕ Grab your cuppa. Dark romance and extraterrestrial visitors. Just another Tuesday. ⚠️ Trigger warnings: dark themes, violence, adult content. Episode Twenty Seven S2: Who's Your Book Best Friend & Quicksilver by Callie Hart
2026/07/15
Send us Fan Mail This week Katy and Rosie tackle the question that really matters: which book character would you want as your actual best friend? Not your love interest, not your nemesis, your best friend. The answers were very telling and we stand by all of them. Then we dive into the first eleven chapters of the BookTok phenomenon that had the romantasy community in an absolute chokehold — *Quicksilver* by Callie Hart, book one of the Fae and Alchemy series. Saeris Fane is a 24-year-old thief hiding secret alchemical powers in an unforgiving desert realm where water is worth more than gold. One stolen gauntlet, one very unwise portal, and suddenly she's bound to Kingfisher — a Fae warrior with a murky past, a terrible attitude, and the kind of face that makes the terrible attitude considerably easier to tolerate. Enemies to lovers. Razor sharp banter. World building that pulls you in headfirst. We are already feral about it. ☕ Grab your cuppa. We've only read eleven chapters and we have THOUGHTS. ⚠️ *Trigger warnings: graphic violence, adult content.* Support the show Check out our socials: TikTok  Instagram  YouTube  Niles' Historical Footnotes Edited by: Kelly Jones Fantasy Author
Episode Twenty Six S2: Biscuits, Betrayal & Medieval Florence ft. Emma Hine
2026/07/08
Send us Fan Mail This week Katy and Rosie are joined by the wonderful Emma Hine to chat about her debut novel The Power of the Wouivre: Fiorenza, a YA historical time travel adventure that will pull you straight into the streets of 13th century Tuscany. A Cornish teen discovers he can slip into the mind of a medieval Sienese nobleman called Guidaloste, just as Guidaloste uncovers a family legacy soaked in betrayal, deadly rivals, and secrets he was never supposed to find. Binding them across the centuries is a mysterious amulet called a wouivre. It is immersive, it is atmospheric, and we had a brilliant chat with Emma about how this book spent over twenty years finding its way into the world. Plus Rosie’s Bit on the Side this week features a man with a very particular and frankly impressive gift, specifically the ability to produce American style biscuits from his own flesh. He is also, apparently, excellent in bed. Katy had questions. Please bear with us for the last eleven minutes of this episode as Rosie’s microphone decided it had simply had enough. We promise she was saying brilliant things. ☕ Grab your cuppa. Medieval Florence and buttery biscuits. We contain multitudes. Episode Twenty Five S2: We’re Back, Baby! Solved, Sentient Cubes & The F*ck-It List ft. H.R. Lloyd
2026/07/01
Send us Fan Mail We’re back! Did you miss us? Don’t answer that. This week Katy and Rosie return from their little hiatus with an absolute belter of an episode. We’re joined by the lovely H.R. Lloyd to chat about The F*ck-It List, book one of the series. It’s a grumpy sunshine romcom set in the cosiest little café you’ve ever imagined, it’s got spice that will make your ears go pink. We had thoughts. Many warm, chaotic thoughts. Plus Rosie’s Bit on the Side this week is a special one — a sentient Rubik’s Cube from the Kyleverse gets solved for the very first time and things get… unexpectedly intimate. Katy’s reaction speaks for itself. Support the show Check out our socials: TikTok  Instagram  YouTube  Niles' Historical Footnotes Edited by: Kelly Jones Fantasy Author
Episode Twenty Four S2: The Wise Witch of Orkney & a Girthy Golf Club ft. Anna Caig
2026/06/10
Send us Fan Mail This week Katy and Rosie are joined by the wonderful Anna Caig to chat about her debut novel The Wise Witch of Orkney — and it is an absolute gem. Set in 1593 Scotland, King James VI is launching a bloody witch hunt across the country — but the women he fears most are already inside his court. Elspet Balfour is a spae-wife — a wise woman and healer from the Orkney isles — disguised as a lady-in-waiting and trapped between serving a queen who needs her and a king who would see her dead. Throw in Kitty Muirhead, outcast and desperate, and three women must concoct a reckless plan to save each other before the worst can happen. It’s gripping, atmospheric, fiercely feminist, and we had a brilliant chat with Anna about bringing these hidden voices of women to life. Plus Rosie’s Bit on the Side this week features a golf club that becomes a man and has a very eventful time indeed. Katy had feelings about this one. Several feelings. ☕ Grab your cuppa. From 16th century Scotland to the fairway — we contain multitudes. ⚠️ Trigger warnings: witch trial themes, persecution, historical violence Support the show Check out our socials: TikTok  Instagram  YouTube  Niles' Historical Footnotes Edited by: Kelly Jones Fantasy Author
