Ep 69: Cannabis, Sex & Absolutely Terrible Advice with Lillie Brown and Kyla de Clifford
2026/09/29
For Episode 69, because apparently the universe has a sense of humour , Lillie Brown is back. This time, there is no proper interview. Instead, Kyla and Lillie have a bowl full of questionable cannabis claims, terrible sex advice and listener questions, and they're answering them the way they would if they were sitting around at home together. Does cannabis make sex better? Does higher THC mean better sex? Should good sex always be spontaneous? If you need lube, does it mean you're not turned on? And if the chemistry is right, should you really have to talk about sex? Somewhere along the way, they get into responsive desire, communication, pressure, pleasure, foreplay, arousal, favourite cultivars for sex and why women absolutely do not exist to perform pleasure for somebody else. And because this is Canna Curious, Kyla's recent experiment with coffee enemas also makes an appearance. Lillie has questions. Many questions. In this episode Kyla and Lillie talk about: ●      Cannabis and sexual pleasure ●      Whether cannabis really gets you “out of your head and into your body” ●      Why THC percentage doesn't tell you how an experience will feel ●      Cannabis, touch and sensitivity ●      Why orgasms don't have to be the entire point ●      Planned sex vs spontaneous sex ●      Lube and the ridiculous idea that needing it means you're not aroused ●      Physical arousal vs actually wanting sex ●      Responsive desire ●      Why communication still matters when the chemistry is great ●      Sex becoming an expectation in relationships ●      Women's desire and the myth that women simply have lower sex drives ●      The conditions that can help desire and arousal emerge ●      Kyla's adventures in coffee enemas ●      The current state of Kyla's dating life ●      The one thing they'd delete from what women have been taught about pleasure Wellness Field Notes This week, Kyla has gone further into the weird end of wellness: coffee enemas. Lillie only discovered this shortly before recording and has approximately one thousand questions. Things deteriorate rapidly from there. Dating The Spanish man is still technically in the picture but Kyla is wondering whether expecting an actual invitation and an actual plan is really asking too much. Lillie's answer is fairly unequivocal. The question we finish on If we could delete one thing women were taught about pleasure, what would go first? Lillie's answer: the idea that pleasure is something women are supposed to do for their partner. Ep 68 Women, THC, and the Questions We’re Really Asking with Kyla de Clifford
2026/09/23
Well… this was not the episode I planned to give you this week. I had an interview recorded with Chloe Teh. It was fascinating. I loved it. And then I f****d up the recording. So, we pivot. This week I’m answering some of the cannabis questions that you keep asking!  the ones that sound simple until you realise the answer is usually: it depends. Does higher THC actually mean better cannabis? Why can two people take the exact same thing and have completely different experiences? Can hormones change the way cannabis feels? And do you really need to tell your doctor you take prescribed cannabis? We get into THC, tolerance, dose, hormones, individual biology and why cannabis conversations need a lot more nuance than they often get. Then things become considerably less scientific. In Wellness Field Notes, I report back from my adventures in coffee enemas including the part the serene wellness imagery conveniently leaves out. And in dating: Spanish Guy is back. Sort of. He's jet-lagged, we haven't managed to catch up, and his messages have once again reached the dazzling conversational heights of… “heyyyy.” In this episode   00:00 — I f****d up an entire interview 00:29 — So we're answering your questions instead 01:37 — Does higher THC actually mean better cannabis? 02:42 — What really shapes your cannabis experience 03:33 — Same cannabis, completely different reaction 04:47 — Hormones, estrogen and tracking your own patterns 05:43 — Why women don't always tell their doctors about cannabis 06:55 — What your doctor actually needs to know 07:36 — Cannabis isn't one thing — and neither are women 08:23 — Wellness Field Notes: the coffee enema situation 09:48 —  High Design with Irena Katz from We Are Lux 12:20 — Dating: Spanish Guy and the return of “heyyyy” 13:33 — Next week's question: what did nobody teach you about cannabis? Next week: I want to hear from you What is something nobody taught you about cannabis that you wish you'd known earlier? Send me a voice note. I want to include some of your answers in next week's episode.   Resources www.cannacurious.com.au/resources - tolerance break guide and more. Ep 67 Beyond THC: Meet the Minor Cannabinoids with Martina Meyner from Hale Farm
2026/09/15
THC and CBD may get most of the attention, but they’re only part of the cannabis story. This week, I’m joined by Martina Meyner from Hale Farm, a certified-organic cannabis farm in Tasmania focused on exploring the wider spectrum of the plant. We unpack minor cannabinoids in plain English, including why CBG is known as the “mother cannabinoid,” why non-intoxicating doesn’t mean inactive, and why patients may need to ask their prescribers directly about options beyond THC and CBD. We also discuss: Why the cannabis industry’s fixation on high-THC products can limit patient choiceThe cultivation and genetic work involved in developing minor-cannabinoid varietiesWhat patients should ask about where and how their cannabis was grownWhy education must grow alongside access to new cannabinoid optionsHale Farm’s recent industry award and its focus on accessible, Australian-grown productsIn Welness field notes the vibration plate continues.. Ep 66 Love in the Age of the Swipe
2026/09/08
Dating apps. Are they actually helping us find connection or have we basically turned our love lives into a slot machine? This week I’m digging into modern dating: where the swipe came from, why dating apps can be so hard to put down, whether Australians are actually finding partners online, and the much less funny reality of harassment and violence connected to app dating. I’m also asking when everyone became polyamorous, hearing from women of different ages about what dating looks like from where they’re standing, and talking about why I’ve decided to stop actively dating and get off the apps. Plus, High Design with Irena from We Are Lux, and in Wellness Field Notes, I’ve bought an $89 vibration plate — which has somehow become the most popular appliance in my house.   Canna Curious is proudly brought to you by Azure Health. Also in this episode, Irena from We Are Lux joins me for our new season-four segment, High Design. This week, she introduces the Vessel Element Bubbler—a compact water pipe combining beautiful design, clever engineering and, importantly, easy cleaning.  Milky Way Beaker Follow We are lux on socials @ladylux420 This episode is supported by Azure Health Learn more at Azure Health or follow @azurehealth www.azurehealth.com.au/cannacurious Connect with Kyla Instagram: @cannacuriousaus TikTok: @cannacuriousau YouTube: @cannacurious Website: cannacurious.com.au If you enjoyed this episode, please follow, share it with someone who needs to hear it, and leave a review. Episode 65: Are You a Stoner? Stigma, High Design and a Shaky Wellness Experiment
2026/09/01
Season four is here and I’m easing back in after three weeks that contained both a lot and absolutely nothing. I was knocked down by the flu, hurt my back and then found myself speaking outside Queensland Parliament about proposed tougher drug-driving penalties. I share why laws that punish the presence of THC, rather than demonstrated impairment, are such an important issue for people taking legally prescribed cannabis. Then I ask Christina McMullen from the Auscanna Podcast and Grace Ker from Spencer Green a deceptively complicated question: Are you a stoner? I explore where the lazy, permanently-high stereotype came from, why women may be particularly reluctant to claim the label and how medicalisation has created a divide between the “legitimate patient” and the recreational cannabis consumer.   Also in this episode, Irena from We Are Lux joins me for our new season-four segment, High Design. This week, she introduces the Vessel Element Bubbler—a compact water pipe combining beautiful design, clever engineering and, importantly, easy cleaning.  Find out more on Vessel here   Follow We are lux on socials @ladylux420 In Wellness Field Notes, I’ve ordered a vibration plate to investigate the claims around lymphatic drainage and gym recovery. My b******t detector is making some noise, but I’m curious enough to test it properly and report back. And, of course, after three weeks away, there’s a dating catch-up. 64 - I’ve Changed My Mind About Cannabis, Wellness and Dating with Kyla de Clifford.
2026/08/05
It’s the Season Three finale, and I’ve changed my mind about a few things. After a magical girls’ weekend in Byron, 14 hours of talking, laughing, eating and doing absolutely nothing I’ve been thinking about what wellness really looks like and what Canna Curious is actually here to do. I don’t need you to love cannabis. I don’t even need you to take cannabis. I just want women to be able to ask questions about it without feeling stupid, irresponsible or judged. In this episode: What 539 women told me about cannabis, judgement and healthcareWhy curiosity, not conversion is the goalWhat 18 months of online dating has taught meWhy the apps feel like poker machinesThe return of the Spanish manWhy chicken tikka, a maz and a movie might still be my perfect dateAzure Health Azure Health is a healthcare clinic with specialist female doctors who are passionate about creating a safe, respectful healthcare experience for women. 2026/07/29
This episode of Canna Curious is proudly brought to you by Azure Health. This week, we’re stepping away from prescriptions, legalisation and the latest cannabis research to talk about something a little more whimsical: the joy of making things with our own hands. In this episode: Why handmade gifts can feel more meaningful than purchased onesCreativity as ritual, generosity and nervous-system downtimeThe beautiful blankets that reminded me how much care mattersThe story and intention behind BhangSimple ways to bring more making into your lifeWhy women can find it so difficult to rest without feeling guiltyMunchies, motherhood and food as an expression of loveA rather underwhelming dating updateWhy dating in the modern world deserves an episode of its ownA NOTE ABOUT SAFETY This podcast shares personal experiences and general education only. 62 - The Cannabis Questions We’re Too Afraid to Ask with Kyla de Clifford.
2026/07/22
This week, I’m answering anonymous listener questions about cannabis, including: How do patients manage driving under Australia’s current presence-based laws? How far away is legalisation? What do you do when family members judge you for taking cannabis? Can cannabis become part of your identity? How can you reduce smoking without necessarily giving up the plant? Are you reaching for cannabis intentionally—or automatically? We unpack the difference between medicine, habit and ritual, why stopping smoking can feel like losing part of yourself, and how curiosity can help us make changes without shame. I also share details of the upcoming Brisbane rally for fair, evidence-based driving laws, an update from my latest questionable Wellness Field Note, some wonderful personal news and why “heyyy” is not a conversation starter. Clarification: The reference to Fisherman’s Friends reflects personal anecdote only. There is no reliable evidence that mints prevent THC detection or alter roadside drug-test results. They should never be relied upon to avoid a positive test. Never drive while impaired. Mentioned in this episode Fair cannabis driving laws The peaceful rally will be held outside Queensland Parliament House in Brisbane on 25 August 2026, from 12 pm to 2 pm. 60 - I Quit Alcohol. Then I Found Cannabis with Kyla de Clifford.
2026/07/08
This week marks 13 years since I had my last drink. In this deeply personal episode, I share the story I don't often tell - the night that changed everything, why I called AA the following morning, and what life has taught me about alcohol, recovery, identity and healing. I talk about the shame that surrounded my drinking, the challenges of early sobriety, losing friendships, rebuilding my sense of self, and why giving up alcohol didn't magically solve all my problems. I also reflect on the striking contrast between the way society celebrates alcohol while continuing to stigmatise medicinal cannabis. Whether you're sober, sober-curious, supporting someone you love, or simply questioning your own relationship with alcohol, I hope this conversation gives you something to think about. In this episode we discuss: The night I decided to stop drinking. My first experience attending AA.Why alcohol gave me confidence—and what happened when I removed it.The identity shift that comes with sobriety. The hardest part of giving up alcohol. Why I believe recovery looks different for everyone.Alcohol stigma versus cannabis stigma. What I don't miss about drinking.Questions to help you reflect on your own relationship with alcohol.Resources Survey Thank you to the hundreds of women who have already contributed. 58 - Love, Weed & Unlearning with Renee the Celebrant.
2026/06/24
What if the biggest rules in your life… were never really yours? This week I'm joined by celebrant, performer, DJ and cannabis advocate Renee to explore the stories we've inherited about love, marriage, cannabis, intimacy and identity—and what happens when we start questioning them. From the Marriage Equality campaign to the stigma surrounding cannabis, we unpack why some conversations still make people uncomfortable, how love is changing, and why being truly seen might be what we're all searching for. We also dive into cannabis and intimacy, the myths that refuse to die, why CBD deserves a place in every emergency room, my latest dating disaster involving a 60mg gummy, and this week's Wellness Field Notes on protein, creatine and feeling stronger through perimenopause. In this episode we discuss: Renee's experience working on the Marriage Equality campaignThe surprising similarities between cannabis stigma and LGBTQIA+ stigmaWhat marrying hundreds of couples has taught Renee about intimacyRenee's personal journey with cannabis—from Ireland to AustraliaCannabis, creativity and sexual wellbeingWhy language matters: "using" cannabis versus "taking" cannabisThe myths about cannabis that still persist todayCBD as a tool for managing an uncomfortable cannabis experienceThis week's Wellness Field Notes: protein, creatine and women's health after 40My latest dating story... involving a very enthusiastic edible consumerYou can find the beautiful Renee @reneethecelebrant This weeks episode is supported by Azure Health www.azurehealth.com.au/cannacurious @azurehealth Help Shape the Future of Cannabis Conversations One of the biggest themes in this episode is what it means to truly be seen and heard. 57 - What If We've Been Talking to Women All Wrong? With Kyla de Clifford.
2026/06/17
For decades, women have been expected to fit into healthcare systems that were never really designed with us in mind. This week I'm sharing the story that made me realise the gap in women's health research isn't just a cannabis problem, it's a women's health problem. From being prescribed Stilnox before anyone understood how differently women metabolised it, to the everyday conversations I have with women who apologise before asking a simple question, this episode explores what happens when we stop assuming and start listening. I also share why I've launched an international survey asking women how they actually want to be spoken to about medicinal cannabis, what I hope to do with the results, and why I believe listening might be the most powerful form of advocacy we have. Plus: Why women have historically been underrepresented in medical researchThe NSW driving law debate—and how not to get distracted from the bigger pictureThis week's Wellness Field Note on learning to truly listenDating updates, gummies gone wrong, and why I might soon be answering to "Mistress Kyla."Resources 📝 Help shape the future of cannabis education for women Complete the How Women Want to Be Spoken To About Cannabis survey here:  📣 Want to support cannabis law reform? 56 - Five Cannabis Red Flags I See Every Week with Kyla de Clifford.
2026/06/10
Are you using cannabis intentionally, or just hoping for the best? This week, I'm sharing five cannabis red flags I see every week from chasing higher THC percentages to forgetting that sometimes the body changes, not the medicine. Along the way, we explore curiosity, relationships, discipline, and why questioning assumptions might be one of the most important skills we can develop. This week on Canna Curious, Kyla explores the power of curiosity, questioning assumptions, and why some of the biggest mistakes people make with medicinal cannabis have nothing to do with the plant itself.  Kyla shares her thoughts on the proposed NSW medicinal cannabis driving law reforms and why understanding how political change happens may be more productive than simply getting angry online. She also reflects on a recent slide in discipline, a five-kilo weight gain, and her plan to get back to the habits that keep her feeling her best.  The conversation then moves into a discussion sparked by last week's ethical non-monogamy episode and the bigger question it raised: How many of our beliefs have we actually chosen for ourselves? From relationships and marriage to medicine and wellness, Kyla explores the importance of questioning inherited ideas and staying curious enough to change your mind when the evidence asks you to.  In This Episode NSW medicinal cannabis driving law changesHow to influence political changeDiscipline, habits and getting back on trackEthical non-monogamy and inherited beliefsCuriosity as a tool for better decision-makingFive common cannabis red flagsTHC, CBD and treatment goalsTracking patterns and symptom changesWhy tolerance breaks matterWater scrying explainedThe value of stillness and reflectionPlus, in this week's Kyla's Wellness Field Notes, Kyla experiments with an ancient practice called water scrying—a reflective practice involving a bowl of water, a candle, and ten minutes of uninterrupted stillness.
