That's right. The Nonsense @ Nine crew pulled off back-to-back shows, and somehow things only got more ridiculous. Dan the Man explored the creepy world of basements, diving into why they make us uncomfortable and the science behind that uneasy feeling. Will the Thrill took things outdoors with a discussion about creepy woods before shifting gears to preview the upcoming Minnesota high school football playoffs. In a shocking development, Max managed to make it through an entire episode without a meltdown. Aaron delivered what might be the greatest sponsor ad read in show history, and the crew somehow found themselves singing songs from both Taylor Swift and Waylon Jennings. A musical combination absolutely nobody saw coming. From spooky basements and haunted-looking woods to high school football, questionable singing, and the usual small-town banter, Episode 71 delivers exactly what you'd expect from Nonsense @ Nine: a whole lot of nothing that somehow turns into a pretty entertaining conversation. About Gravel Roads Radio Nonsense @ Nine is part of Gravel Roads Radio, bringing you unscripted conversations, small-town humor, sports, everyday life, and plenty of nonsense from rural Minnesota.
Ep. 70 - Nonsense @ Nine - Vehicle Advice
2026/10/20
Episode 70 of Nonsense @ Nine might just be a Top 100 episode of all time! This week, the guys tackle the great vehicle-buying debate. Is it smarter to buy new or used? They also discuss an important question in sports etiquette: Is it acceptable to stand at a sporting event when everyone around you is sitting? Dan the Man returns with another fascinating trip through the solar system, Will the Thrill calls in and gets everyone fired up, and Max has an absolute meltdown. It's everything you've come to expect from Nonsense @ Nine: questionable opinions, heated debates, plenty of laughs, and conversations that go completely off the rails. Thanks to our sponsors! Ep. 68 - Nonsense @ Nine - Ron's a spaz
2026/09/23
EPISODE 68 — PRESENTED BY: Matthew's Plumbing This episode of Nonsense @ Nine includes discussion concerning a variety of topics raised by the participating members of the Gravel Roads Radio crew. Dan “Dan the Man” initiated the program with a series of questions relating to the Earth, its characteristics, and associated matters. Will “Will the Thrill” subsequently joined the program and contributed commentary relating to football, including remarks intended to increase enthusiasm among the participating individuals. During the course of the episode, Max Anderson and Steve Koivisto engaged in a substantive disagreement regarding youth sports, including differing perspectives on participation, competition, and related considerations. A significant portion of the program was also devoted to discussion of the SISU Backyard Ultra. Individuals interested in participating in a future SISU Backyard Ultra may obtain additional information and register at sisuprojectmn.com. Matthews Plumbing served as the official sponsor of Episode 68. Ryan Koivisto also provided information concerning a current promotional offering involving rink liners. All opinions expressed during the program are those of the respective speakers and should not be construed as legal, financial, medical, athletic, geological, planetary, or otherwise professional advice.
Ep. 67 - Nonsense @ Nine - We're Still Here
2026/09/14
Somehow, after a month off, we still have a show. Dan the Man joins the crew and takes us back to school with this week’s lesson on Venus — because apparently planetary education is now a regular part of Nonsense @ Nine. We also recap the inaugural Sisu Backyard Ultra, from the runners and stories to the long hours, livestream, and everything that made the first year one to remember. Then Max completely melts down over stoplights, traffic, and other everyday things that apparently push him over the edge. Official Sponsor — Matthew’s Plumbing Episode 67 is proudly sponsored by Matthew’s Plumbing of Cokato, Minnesota. Serving residential and commercial customers since 2002, Matthew’s Plumbing provides professional plumbing, water heater, and water conditioning services. Matthew’s Plumbing Cokato, MN 320-469-1795 Thanks to Matthew’s Plumbing for supporting Nonsense @ Nine and Gravel Roads Radio! Listen, watch, laugh, and enjoy Episode 67.
Ep. 65 - Nonsense @ Nine - The Return of Max
2026/08/16
In Episode 65, the crew works through some early technical difficulties before settling in for another wide-ranging edition of Nonsense @ Nine. Dan the Man leads an educational discussion on the solar system, while Max recaps his recent trip to Florida and visit to Cocoa Beach. Ron takes control of the production buttons, the group briefly discusses Chargers football, and Ryan joins the conversation remotely before arriving in person for the final portion of the show. Despite a somewhat unconventional start, the crew pulls everything together for another entertaining episode filled with conversation, humor, and the unpredictability that has become a hallmark of the show. Gravel Roads Radio Outdoors - Andy and Nevyn Hengel
2026/08/14
On this episode of GRR Outdoors, Andy and Nevyn Hengel join the show for a deep dive into the world of trap shooting. Andy brings the perspective of a trap shooting coach, while Nevyn joins fresh off winning the 2026 USA High School Clay Target League Individual National Championship in Mason, Michigan. They talk about Nevyn’s championship run, what it takes to compete at a high level, the current state of trap shooting, how the sport is growing, and plenty more from inside the trap shooting world. A great conversation for longtime shooters and anyone curious about the sport.
Ep. 63 - Nonsense @ Nine - Updates from the river w/ Will Tulkki and Cornbread
2026/08/10
Episode 63 – Audio Only Nonsense The camera decided not to cooperate, so Episode 63 turned into an old-school audio-only edition of Nonsense @ Nine. Dan the Man joined the show to talk camping, childhood memories, and simpler times. Will Tulkki and Cornbread checked in live from the river as they continue their mission to paddle the whole thing. Ran broke down his awesome performance at the Big Eddy 50K, Ryan gave us an update on his electric bike adventures, and Steve explained why Banana Ball games are every bit as awesome as advertised. As usual, there was plenty of completely unprepared nonsense mixed in along the way. No camera. No problem. Just Episode 63 of Nonsense @ Nine.
Ep. 62 - Nonsense @ Nine - Finn Classic Preview show
2026/07/28
Dan the Man kicks off Episode 62 with a little Harry Potter talk and a preview of an upcoming camping trip. From there, Steve explains why he bailed on the golf tournament before launching into a full meltdown over a frustrating car-buying experience. The crew also weighs in on Flock cameras, checks in on Ron’s new house, and delivers another round of the usual nonsense you’ve come to expect from Nonsense at Nine.
Ep. 61 - Nonsense @ Nine - Proving the doubters wrong
2026/07/19
After rumors of the show’s demise, the Nonsense @ Nine crew came back stronger than ever—and Dan the Man was there to kick things off. The crew covered everything from smoke-filled skies and the ultimate battle between horse flies and mosquitoes to Ron’s upcoming move. They also helped Ron decide what kind of lawn mower he needs while developing strategies to avoid getting recruited for any of his future projects. Steve and Ron shared their thoughts on public restrooms and ripped into a local establishment without ever revealing its name. Steve recapped some unforgettable 10U baseball stories, gave an update on the SISU Backyard Ultra, and Max closed things out with another edition of Max’s Meltdown. Nonsense @ Nine is back. The haters have officially been proven wrong.
Ep. 60 - Nonsense @ Nine - The John "Uncle Thud" Aho Show - and other guests
2026/06/27
Episode 60 brings together stories, chaos, and a nearly positive attitude from start to finish. John “Uncle Thud” joined the show live and shared some legendary 30th St. stories, bringing the crew back to simpler times and giving everyone plenty to laugh about. Rowan “Rooster” made his debut holding down a seat, while Dan the Man came through with a big connection by linking the podcast with Jeffer’s super athlete, Bentley. The crew also found time to get into a passionate debate about geese on a golf course, because on Nonsense @ Nine, even geese can become a full-blown argument. Uncle Thud, Rooster’s debut, 30th St. stories, Dan the Man networking, Bentley, golf course geese, simpler times, and almost positivity — this one had it all.
Ep. 59 - Nonsense @ Nine - Basic Nonsense
2026/06/21
LISTENER DISCRETION ADVISED: Poor attitudes and effort from the crew. We will be better next week.  Episode 59 kicks off with Dan the Man setting the tone in true Dan fashion. The guys sort of talked Father’s Day, touched on Will the Thrill’s birthday from Thursday, and promised there’s more to come on that next week. Max also had himself a classic meltdown about… stuff. You know, the usual. The crew also gave listeners an update on the SISU Backyard Ultra and where things are headed as the event continues to come together. A little bit of everything in this one, exactly how Nonsense @ Nine is supposed to be.
Bill Aho Hall of Fame Game - Kernels vs Saints
2026/06/08
A special night in Cokato as Bill Aho was inducted into the Northstar League Hall of Fame. Lars and Nels Anderson were on the call for the matchup between the Cokato Kernels and Dassel-Cokato Saints, with a steady stream of guests joining them in the booth throughout the night. Mike Enerson, Bill Aho, Eric and Vinnie Pokornowski, Tom Halonen, and Boomer Nelson all stopped by the broadcast. It was more than just a ballgame. It was a night of local baseball history, great stories, and honoring one of the legends of the Northstar League.
Ep. 57 - Nonsense @ Nine - The Bill Aho Hall of Fame Preview
2026/06/05
Episode 57 started with Dan opening the show, and then… well, things got a little slow. For a minute, it looked like we might be staring down the worst episode in show history. Then Jack Anderson called in and saved the day. From there, the show found its legs. We talked about Bill Aho’s induction into the Northstar League Hall of Fame, Ryan’s day at the Mall of America, and then Vinnie Pokornowski stopped by to keep the momentum rolling with Bill Aho stories, Primeline Asphalt Services talk, and plenty of laughs. This one starts slow, but stick with it — thanks to Jack and Vinnie, it turns into an awesome episode.
Ep. 56 - Nonsense @ Nine - Hanging on by a thread
2026/06/02
Ron took the wheel for Episode 56, and the man absolutely delivered. Dan the Man kicked things off with the open, setting the tone for another classic night of nonsense. The boys talked weather, debated when the show should actually happen, and Ron even let everyone in on a little secret. Max, of course, had another meltdown, because it would not be Nonsense @ Nine without one. Will the Thrill also joined the show to talk graduation foods and Minnesota Wild hockey, bringing the perfect mix of serious sports talk and questionable food takes. Ron hosted. Max melted. Secrets were shared. The weather was discussed far too much. Another great night on Gravel Roads Radio.
Ep. 55 - Nonsense @ Nine - Can we make it to 100 episodes? or even 56?
2026/05/21
After a few weeks off, the Nonsense @ Nine crew returned exactly how you’d expect: a little rusty, a little chaotic, and somehow still on the air. Dan the Man kicked things off with some Harry Potter talk before helping the crew sing happy birthday to Aaron. Max melted down — more than once — and we officially introduced the SISU Backyard Ultra, a race Steve and Ryan are organizing for anyone who thinks running forever sounds like a good idea. The guys also talked steak, recapped the Knapp Open, and tried to shake off the cobwebs after the break. Was it smooth? Not really. Was it Nonsense @ Nine? Absolutely. Featuring: Dan the Man’s Harry Potter opener, birthday singing, multiple Max Meltdowns, SISU Backyard Ultra talk, steak debates, and a Knapp Open recap.
