Everyone Loves Your People Pleasing. Who Gets the Real You?
2026/10/29
Everyone says you're so easy to be around. The yes leaves your mouth before you've even paused. And by eight o'clock at night, you're loading the dishwasher like it owes you money.
In this episode of The Connection Podcast, Lauren Dry, Master Marriage Coach and founder of Rise into Regulation™, explores people pleasing, the fawn response, and how a pattern that gets celebrated at work, at home and in friendships can quietly keep the people closest to you from meeting the real you.
This is part three of the four-part series on nervous system addictions inside The Connection Podcast.
You'll hear about
Why people pleasing is the nervous system addiction that gets the most applauseHow the fawn response grows from enmeshment and being the good kidThe resentment that builds when a yes stays stored, and the fear sitting underneath itWhere people pleasing shows up in the body, from a tight throat to forgetting to eatA slow, doable way to start catching the half second before the yes
Underneath all that helpfulness is a nervous system doing its best to keep connection safe. When it learns that wants can exist and the relationship still holds, there's more room for closeness, honesty and the clarity and ease that come with being truly known. There's time for it, and it starts small.

The Quiet Cost Of Avoidance (And Who Feels It Most)
2026/10/22
Why does the urge to be anywhere else arrive the exact moment a real conversation begins? The sudden jobs. The sudden distance. And a calm that looks so convincing from the outside.
In this episode of The Connection Podcast, Lauren Dry, Master Marriage Coach and founder of Rise into Regulation™, explores avoidance, the flight response all grown up. At first glance it can look easygoing and unbothered, while underneath there's a body that learned distance was the safest place to be. Getting curious about the pull to leave the room is where things start to shift.
Part two of the four part series on the nervous system addiction responses.
You'll hear about
Why avoidance is flight mode all grown upWhat a calm exterior can be coveringHow avoidance shows up in the body and in the words we useWhy avoidance and hypervigilance so often find each otherSlow steps your nervous system can trust
Avoidance is a pattern the body learned in order to feel safe, and patterns can change. Slowly, with curiosity, there is a way back to clarity and ease.

The Hypervigilance Trap (Why You Can't Switch Off)
2026/10/15
Reading every room. Managing every mood. Lying awake at 1am wondering why you're the only one trying this hard. That's hypervigilance.
In this episode of The Connection Podcast, Lauren Dry, Master Marriage Coach and founder of Rise into Regulation™, explores the nervous system pattern that keeps so many capable, high-achieving people on constant alert inside their closest relationships.
This is part one of a four-part series on the hidden nervous system addictions that can quietly shape how we connect. It's a chance to get curious about what your body has been working so hard to protect.
You'll hear about
The grown-up version of the fight responseHow feeling dismissed teaches a body to stay on guardThe fear of being left underneath the angerWhy it works at work and costs you at homeSoothing the pattern without shame
If you've been scanning, managing and holding it all together for two, there's relief in knowing this is a pattern your body learnt, and patterns can change. Clarity and ease start with understanding what your nervous system has been protecting you from.

Is It Regulation Or Ownership? How To Use Both
2026/10/09
You leave the breathwork session feeling amazing, and by the next morning the same old pressure has crept straight back in.
In this episode of The Connection Podcast, Lauren Dry, Master Marriage Coach and founder of Rise into Regulation™, sits down with Siamon Emery, a neuro somatic embodiment practitioner and founder of The Embodied Return, to explore whether regulation can become a form of avoidance. Siamon trained at the Bihar School of Yoga in India and is now studying neuroscience at UPenn, and he brings both lenses to the question of whether getting calmer is bringing clarity or raising your capacity to stay in a situation that isn't working.
Together, Lauren and Siamon get curious about what your calm is really telling you, and what your body already knows before a big decision gets made.
You'll hear about
Why regulation can quietly raise what you're willing to tolerateHow acceptance and resignation each feel in the bodyWhat a decision made from clarity feels like compared with one made from exhaustionWhy the calm from breathwork can fade by the next morningA five minute body scan to check in with this week
Feeling calm is a beautiful beginning, and it gives you the space to hear what your body has been trying to tell you. When you feel safe enough to own your choices, clarity follows, and that's where ease begins.

Boundary Or Ultimatum? (How To Tell The Difference)
2026/10/01
Finally saying the sentence you've rehearsed for years, then wondering whether it was a boundary or an ultimatum.
In this episode of The Connection Podcast, Lauren Dry, Master Marriage Coach and founder of Rise into Regulation™, explores how a boundary and an ultimatum can sound almost identical, and what shapes which one comes out when you've reached your limit.
It's a chance to get curious about how your nervous system responds under pressure, and what it takes to stay firm and connected at the same time.
You'll hear about
Why boundaries and ultimatums can look so alike from the outsideWhat naming a need opens up in the person across from youEducate, redirect and release as three ways to hold a lineThe four nervous system addictions that shape how we reactHow a whole generation learned boundaries as walls
Holding a line while keeping the relationship open asks a lot of a nervous system, and it's a skill that can be learnt. Feeling protected and connected at the same time is possible, and clarity and ease begin right there.

Breaking Up Doesn't Have To Break Your Marriage
2026/09/24
What if the marriage you're grieving could end, and the two of you got to begin a second one? Some love stories take more than one beginning.
In this episode of The Connection Podcast, Lauren Dry, Master Marriage Coach and founder of Rise into Regulation™, sits down with Rebecca Mullen, artist, writer, coach and host of Habits for Your Happily Ever After, to explore the seasons of estrangement that can move through a long marriage.
Together, Lauren and Rebecca get into what a six month in-house divorce can reveal, how differences in faith can be met with curiosity, and what changes when worthiness becomes an inside job.
You'll hear about
How a marriage can quietly end inside a home that still looks completely normalWhy relief can arrive when you stop chasing connection and turn your energy inwardWhere to look when faith or beliefs start to differ between youThe difference between giving so you'll be loved and giving because you loveOne simple journalling practice to start building worthiness this week
Marriages move through seasons, and some of them can feel like an ending. Grace, curiosity and a relationship with yourself that feels like home can open the door to whatever comes next, and that's where clarity and ease begin to grow.

You Did Everything Right. Perimenopause Still Showed Up.
2026/09/17
You wake up at three in the morning, heart pounding, and you don't know why. Your labs come back completely normal. That's not proof nothing's wrong. That's perimenopause, quietly running the show long before anyone told you to expect it.
In this episode of The Connection Podcast, Lauren Dry, Master Marriage Coach and founder of Rise into Regulation™, sits down with Nandita Mahadevan, founder of SolWomen, who works at the intersection of hormonal health, nervous system regulation, and midlife reinvention, to explore what happens when a woman's body stops cooperating with everything she's built.
Together, Lauren and Nandita get into the gap between what your labs say and what your body is actually telling you, how to tell what's hormonal and what's relational, and what it actually costs you to wait too long to ask for help.
You'll hear about
Why doing everything "right" doesn't protect you from perimenopauseThe difference between a normal hormone range and an optimal oneHow a dropped libido can look like rejection to your partnerWhat it really costs you to wait too long to get supportWhy every woman goes through this, and why so few of us talk about it
Your body has been trying to help you the whole time. Once you understand what's actually happening inside you, so much of the fear and confusion falls away, and what's left is clarity, and the ease of finally being on your own side.

The Real Question Hiding Behind "Is It Over"
2026/08/27
Somewhere between fighting for the relationship and letting it go, you're stuck. And it's exhausting.
You don't need another push to decide right now. You need to understand what's actually happening underneath it.
In this episode, Lauren Dry, Master Marriage Coach and founder of Rise into Regulation™, walks through what it actually takes to make peace with not knowing, from the nervous system patterns quietly steering the decision, to the reason most conflict never fully disappears, to a reframe that changes what this hard season is actually for.
Because the panic to know right now, to fix it or leave it, is so often your nervous system talking, not your intuition. This episode is an invitation to slow down, understand what's really running the show, and trust that even the hardest season has a purpose.
You'll hear about
Why 69% of conflict in relationships never actually goes awayThe four nervous system responses quietly making your biggest decisionsThe real difference between old survival patterns and true intuitionWhy every relationship moves through seasonsWhat to actually do when you don't know if it's over yet
Wherever you are in the not knowing right now, this episode isn't going to rush you to an answer. It's an invitation to trust the season you're in, to let resentment teach you instead of decide for you, and to find your way back to yourself first. That's where clarity and ease begin.

Is Romantasy Better or Worse For Your Sex Life?
2026/08/20
You're halfway through another romantasy novel, and part of you is wondering why it feels better than anything happening at home. That's desire, still very much alive, just looking in the wrong place.
In this episode of The Connection Podcast, Lauren Dry, Master Marriage Coach and founder of Rise into Regulation™, sits down with Caroline Hood, a certified sex therapist and author who works at the intersection of desire, intimacy, and long-term love, to explore where desire actually goes when women feel like they have lost it.
Together, Lauren and Caroline explore the romantasy trend, the myth of spontaneity, and what it actually takes for competent, driven women to feel safe enough to want something again.
You'll hear about
How desire quietly migrates when life gets full and busyWhat the romantasy boom really reveals about women's desireWhy spontaneity was always more curated than it feltHow competence can get in the way of surrenderHow to bring desire back without pressure or shame
Desire is a signal, something asking to be noticed and given permission to exist. Making space for it means making space for more of yourself, and that is where clarity and ease begin.

Can you love a toxic family and still heal?
2026/08/13
You've spent years angry at someone who barely remembers what they did to you.
You've set the same boundary with the same person more times than you can count.
And somewhere in there, you've wondered if loving your family honestly means forgiving them for everything.
In this episode, Lauren Dry, Master Marriage Coach and founder of Rise into Regulation™, sits down with Dr Nancy Dome, a speaker, author and coach who has spent years exploring how the families we grow up in shape who we become, even when they weren't perfect.
Together they explore the Sankofa principle, the idea of looking back to move forward, and get honest about what it means to understand your family without excusing the parts that hurt. It's a conversation about the patterns you inherited, and the ones you get to choose differently now.
You'll hear about
Why looking back at your family honestly is the first step to moving forwardThe real difference between forgiving someone and simply understanding themHow generational patterns show up in your relationships without you realisingWhat safety actually looks like versus plain discomfortWhy a boundary you have to repeat isn't a boundary that's failing
Family is rarely simple, and loving one honestly means holding both the good and the hard at once. When you can look back with clarity instead of judgement, the patterns start to loosen their grip. That's where clarity and ease begin.

Polarity Isn't What You Think It Is
2026/08/06
You can love someone completely and still feel like something between you has gone quiet. That's usually polarity, slipping away without either of you noticing.
In this episode, Lauren Dry, Master Marriage Coach and founder of Rise into Regulation™, sits down with Dr Brian Paris, founder of Emotional Engineering, for a conversation about polarity that's candid, a little provocative, and grounded in his own blend of neuroscience, somatic psychology, and lived experience.
Together, Lauren and Brian get honest about what polarity actually means beyond the buzzwords, the difference between masculine and feminine energy as a dance rather than a role, and how long-term couples quietly become roommates without ever noticing the spark leave the room. It's a conversation about presence over performance, and about finding your way back to each other once you've drifted.
You'll hear about
The disconnect that hides in plain sightThe science behind why we freeze instead of speaking upWhat polarity really means, and the myths getting it wrongThe difference between being present and performing itReconnecting doesn't require anyone's permission
Polarity lives in the small, honest moments that happen after the big conversations are over. That's where the ease and the spark both come back to life.

Nice Guy Or Good Man? Let’s Talk About It
2026/07/23
Nice guy syndrome doesn't look like a problem from the outside. It looks like someone who never causes a fuss, never asks for too much, and is slowly disappearing inside his own relationship.
In this episode, Lauren Dry, Master Marriage Coach and founder of Rise into Regulation™, sits down with Jason Lange, a men's embodiment coach and certified No More Mr Nice Guy coach who has trained with leaders including John Wineland and Dr Robert Glover. Jason spends his days helping men move out of people pleasing and into real presence, intimacy, and connection in their own lives and relationships.
Together Lauren and Jason look underneath the nice guy pattern, at what it's actually protecting, what it's costing, and what becomes possible for a man and the people who love him once he stops performing and starts showing up as himself.
You'll hear about
What a covert contract really is and how it quietly builds resentmentWhy people pleasing so often starts from a genuinely loving placeThe difference between being nice and being honestWhat resentment is actually trying to point you towardsWhat changes in a relationship once a man stops performing
Underneath the nice guy pattern is usually a person who learned, a long time ago, that being loved meant disappearing a little. Coming back to yourself, and letting the people around you actually know you, is where real safety and connection begin.

The Hidden Shame Behind Erectile Dysfunction
2026/07/16
What do men hide from their partners when shame shows up? And once you know, what actually helps, versus what makes it worse?
In this episode, Lauren Dry, Master Marriage Coach and founder of Rise into Regulation™, sits down with Gaylen Wilson, certified Thriving Relationship Coach and co-creator of the Monument Method, to talk about what happens when shame moves into a marriage and nobody names it. Gaylen spent five years moderating two of the largest ED support groups on Facebook, listening to more than 60,000 men and their partners, and he brings that insight straight into this conversation.
This conversation is an invitation to look past the surface of withdrawal, low libido, or physical intimacy struggles and get curious about what's actually happening underneath, because safety is almost always the real story.
You'll hear about
Why withdrawal rarely means he wants you lessWhat shame does to a man before it reaches the bedroomThe story she tells herself when intimacy disappearsRegulating your nervous system before you try to talk it outThe sentence every couple should retire, and the one to replace it
What Gaylen's work makes clear is that complacency is one of the biggest threats to connection. When both people learn to feel safe in their own bodies again, even the biggest challenges can become the doorway to something deeper. That's where clarity and ease begin.

Dying Made Him Finally Want Connection
2026/07/09
Have you ever kept pushing through the moment your body was already telling you to stop?
In this episode, Lauren Dry, Master Marriage Coach and founder of Rise into Regulation™, talks with Jeff Luther, an entrepreneur and father of three who collapsed at a CrossFit gym in front of his teenage son and had no pulse for eight minutes. He was later diagnosed with ARVC, a rare heart condition that ended the intense exercise he'd built his identity around.
Jeff and Lauren explore what we're really avoiding when we keep pushing and performing, and what it takes to stop before life forces the issue. Jeff also opens up about his divorce, which he describes as grief for a future rather than grief for a person.
You'll hear about
What a cardiac arrest actually feels like in your bodyWhy high achievers bury what they can't control in what they canThe real difference between vulnerability and exposureGrieving a future instead of a person after divorceWhy connection beats control when everything falls away
Most wake up calls tap on the door for years before life forces us to answer. Jeff's story is a reminder that the version of you that keeps pushing is not the same as the version of you that's actually safe and connected.

Rewiring Series Pt 4: Life After Survival Mode (And What It Actually Looks Like)
2026/07/02
If you've been stuck in the same cycles for so long that you've stopped being able to picture what life could actually look like, this one is for you. Not a list of tools. Not another framework. A real, tangible picture of what becomes possible when you finally regulate and reset at the root.
Lauren Dry, Master Marriage Coach and founder of Rise into Regulation™, explores what becomes possible on the other side of regulation and what it actually looks and feels like when the nervous system is no longer running the show.
This episode is an invitation to sit with what you're really working towards. Because regulation was never just about being calm. This is part four, the final episode, of the Rewiring Series inside The Connection Podcast.
You'll hear about
What ease, play and intimacy look like when survival mode starts to dial downA real client story and the wins that surprised everyone, including herWhy chronic stress narrows what feels possible and what opens up when it liftsWhat a regulated nervous system actually gives you backA guided five year visualisation to move from stuck to possibility
What becomes possible after regulation goes so much further than calm. More play, more intimacy, more clarity and the capacity to navigate even the hardest moments with your feet on the ground. That's what this whole series has been pointing towards and this is where it lands.
