What are the Cowboys Telling Us About Christian Parker? Schotty Under the Microscope (A Breakdown)
2026/10/14
The Dallas Cowboys are 2-3 through five games, and the pressure is mounting on head coach Brian Schottenheimer, defensive coordinator Christian Parker, and a struggling Cowboys defense. After another disappointing loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Dallas is making changes, but will they actually fix the problems holding this team back?
On this episode of The Landry Hat Podcast, we break down the Dallas Cowboys' decision to hire veteran NFL defensive coach Mike Pettine as a senior defensive assistant to help Christian Parker. We discuss Parker moving to the coaches' booth, Von Miller's comments defending the Cowboys coaching staff, and why missed tackles, poor gap discipline, and defensive execution might be bigger problems than the scheme itself.
We also take a closer look at Brian Schottenheimer's performance as the Cowboys head coach. With a 9-12-1 record, questionable game management, offensive inconsistencies, and continued struggles on defense and special teams, how much responsibility should Schottenheimer shoulder? We examine his similarities to former Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett and whether Jerry Jones could be making the same mistake by sticking with a coach for too long.
Finally, we look ahead to the Dallas Cowboys vs. Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football. With Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, and the Cowboys offense capable of competing with anybody, Dallas still has a legitimate opportunity to turn its season around.
The Philadelphia Eagles are struggling, the New York Giants lead the NFC East, and the Washington Commanders haven't separated themselves. Despite everything that has gone wrong, the NFC East remains wide open.
Can the Cowboys fix their defense, improve their coaching decisions, and make a run at the NFC East title? Or are the same problems going to continue holding Dallas back?

The Dallas Cowboys Biggest Problem is....
2026/10/10
The Dallas Cowboys have a serious problem, but who's really to blame? Is it the players on the field, or is it the coaching staff failing to put them in positions to succeed?
On today's episode of The Landry Hat Podcast, Zac Lee and FootsDaKing break down the Cowboys' loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and debate the biggest issues facing Dallas through five weeks of the 2026 NFL season.
We dive into Christian Parker's struggling Cowboys defense, the defensive personnel and lack of execution, and whether Brian Schottenheimer deserves more criticism for the offense's inconsistent performances.
We also discuss Jake Ferguson's costly mistakes, Dak Prescott's performance, the Cowboys' inability to overcome turnovers, and the recurring self-inflicted mistakes that continue to hurt this team.
The biggest question: Do the Cowboys have a talent problem, a coaching problem, or BOTH?

The Dallas Cowboys MASSIVE Win Over the Texans Was Because of These Guys
2026/10/06
The Dallas Cowboys are back to .500 after a 34-30 win over the Houston Texans, but this game gave us plenty to talk about.
Dak Prescott delivered when Dallas needed him most, CeeDee Lamb completely took over the game, Javonte Williams found the end zone three times, and George Pickens continued to make a huge impact even on limited touches.
We also break down the Cowboys offensive line, Tyler Guyton’s continued development, Quinnen Williams and Rashan Gary finally getting home as pass rushers, Joey Porter Jr.’s impressive Cowboys debut, and some legitimate improvement from the Dallas run defense.
But not everything is fixed. C.J. Stroud and the Texans still created way too many explosive plays through the air, Nico Collins had a huge game, and the Cowboys secondary continues to have issues that Christian Parker has to get cleaned up.
How much should we take away from this win? Is the Cowboys offense starting to find its identity? And is this Dallas defense actually improving, or are the same problems still hiding underneath the surface?
Full Cowboys vs. Texans reaction, analysis, player standouts, concerns and everything Dallas needs to build on heading into Thursday night against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

How Much Did Joey Porter Jr. Change for the Dallas Cowboys Defense + More Trades Coming? | Cowboys vs. Texans Preview
The Dallas Cowboys made a major move by trading for Joey Porter Jr., and his impact could go well beyond simply adding another starting cornerback.
In this episode of the Landry Hat Podcast, we break down how Porter changes the structure of the Cowboys defense, what his arrival means for Caleb Downs, Jaishawn Barham, DaRon Bland, Shavon Revel Jr. and Malik Hooker, and how defensive coordinator Christian Parker can use more man coverage, disguise and aggressive pressure packages with another reliable outside corner.
We also discuss whether the Cowboys could have more trades coming, which positions still need help, and whether Dallas should keep adding to the defense after a 1-2 start.
Then we preview Dallas Cowboys vs. Houston Texans in Week 4, including Dak Prescott vs. the Texans pass rush, CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens vs. Houston’s secondary, C.J. Stroud vs. the Cowboys defense, Will Anderson Jr., Derek Stingley Jr., Nico Collins, and the biggest matchups that could decide the game.
Can the Cowboys defense finally take a step forward? How much does Joey Porter Jr. raise the ceiling of this secondary? And can Dallas avoid falling to 1-3 with a road win over Houston?

The Dallas Cowboys Are So Close, but Yet So Far Away After Loss to Ravens
2026/09/28
The Dallas Cowboys came painfully close to beating the Baltimore Ravens, but once again, self-inflicted mistakes made the difference.
In this episode of The Landry Hat Podcast, we break down everything that went wrong in the Cowboys’ 34-31 loss to Baltimore, including turnovers, penalties, special teams mistakes, clock management, and the final sequence that left Dallas just two yards away from a potential win.
We’ll go through the Cowboys offense, defense, special teams, and coaching decisions, including Dak Prescott and the passing game, the Javonte Williams fourth-down sequence, Jake Ferguson’s fumble, Brandon Aubrey’s blocked field goal, kickoffs out of bounds, defensive penalties, and the late-game decisions that gave Baltimore one final opportunity.
The frustrating part is that Dallas made mistake after mistake and still had a chance to win the game at the goal line. So what does this loss actually tell us about the Cowboys moving forward? Is the offense good enough to carry this team? Is the defense improving? And how much blame should fall on the coaching staff for another game that came down to situational football?

In this episode of The Landry Hat Podcast, Zac Lee breaks down the Cowboys’ Week 2 win, Dak Prescott’s four-touchdown performance, CeeDee Lamb’s huge day, and why the offense finally looked like the version Dallas needs moving forward.
But the biggest takeaway might be what happened on defense.
Jaishawn Barham continues to look like a major piece for the Cowboys at linebacker. Caleb Downs is already making plays all over the field. And Malachi Lawrence showed real progress off the edge. Dallas still has plenty to clean up defensively, but the young talent on this roster is starting to give Cowboys fans something to be excited about.

What We NEED to Learn About the Dallas Cowboys in their Week 2 Matchup vs. Commanders
2026/09/19
The Dallas Cowboys have a lot to prove in Week 2 against Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders.
After an ugly defensive performance against the New York Giants, Zac and FootsDaKing break down the biggest questions facing the Cowboys heading into this matchup. Was Week 1 simply one terrible defensive performance, or did it expose real problems with Christian Parker’s new Cowboys defense?
With DeMarvion Overshown and Malik Hooker out, rookie linebacker Jaishawn Barham is stepping into a massive role at MIKE linebacker and will wear the green dot against one of the NFL’s most dangerous dual-threat quarterbacks.
The guys also dive into the Cowboys offense and why Dallas shouldn’t be afraid to trust Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens and the passing game against Washington’s secondary. Should the Cowboys stop worrying so much about “establishing the run”? Can the offensive tackles hold up well enough for Dallas to attack downfield? And why could blitzing Dak Prescott be a major mistake for the Commanders defense?
On the other side of the ball, the biggest question might be whether Dallas can pressure Jayden Daniels without constantly sending extra rushers. Philadelphia pressured Daniels on nearly 48% of his dropbacks while largely getting home with four, while the Cowboys generated just two pressures on 20 four-man rushes against New York.
Zac and Foots also discuss maintaining rush lanes against Daniels, Donovan Ezeiruaku’s struggles setting the edge, Christian Parker’s defensive adjustments and which Cowboys players need to respond the most in Week 2.
It’s a full Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Commanders preview with the matchups, players and questions that could decide the game.

Dallas Cowboys Week 2 Matchup vs. Commanders | Everything You Need To Know Before the Game
2026/09/18
The Dallas Cowboys are getting ready for a huge NFC East matchup against the Washington Commanders, and this Cowboys vs Commanders preview goes way deeper than the basic box score.
On this episode of The Landry Hat Podcast, Zac Lee breaks down the advanced numbers behind Dallas Cowboys vs Washington Commanders, including EPA per play, success rate, pressure rate, personnel usage, defensive efficiency and the biggest matchup advantages that could decide the game.
The Cowboys offense was actually much more efficient against the New York Giants than the final score and total yardage suggest. Dallas finished Week 1 near the top of the NFL in EPA per play, and Dak Prescott was particularly effective when the Cowboys operated out of 11 personnel with CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens and Jake Ferguson on the field.
But the biggest concern heading into Cowboys vs Commanders is the Dallas Cowboys defense.
The Cowboys struggled badly to generate pressure with only four pass rushers against the Giants, and now they have to deal with Jayden Daniels, one of the most dangerous dual-threat quarterbacks in the NFL. Philadelphia was able to pressure Jayden Daniels consistently without relying heavily on the blitz, which creates one of the biggest questions for Dallas this week: can the Cowboys defensive line affect Jayden Daniels without constantly sending extra defenders?
We also break down why the Cowboys defensive success rate against the Giants was so concerning, how Washington’s offense performed against the Philadelphia Eagles, and why the Commanders defense may be better than Cowboys fans expect.
Other topics include:
• Dak Prescott and the Cowboys offense ranking highly in EPA per play
• CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens against the Washington secondary
• Why Dallas could lean heavily on 11 personnel
• The Cowboys running game and possible opportunities against lighter defensive boxes
• Jayden Daniels’ impact as both a passer and runner
• Dallas’ four-man pass rush and pressure-rate concerns
• Why blitzing Jayden Daniels could create problems for the Cowboys defense
• The Cowboys linebackers, defensive tackles and safeties needing better discipline
• Washington Commanders offensive efficiency against Philadelphia
• Why Dallas must improve on third down and get its defense off the field
• The biggest Cowboys vs Commanders matchups and advanced stats to watch
This is a full Dallas Cowboys Week 2 preview with advanced analytics, Cowboys news, Cowboys analysis and Washington Commanders scouting ahead of an important NFC East matchup.

7 Major Takeaways from Dallas Cowboys Loss to New York Giants
2026/09/14
The Dallas Cowboys opened the 2026 NFL season with a disappointing 28-20 loss to the New York Giants, and there is a LOT to unpack from Week 1.
In this episode of The Landry Hat Podcast, Zac Lee breaks down seven major takeaways from the Cowboys loss to the Giants, including just how bad the Dallas defense really was, why the Cowboys pass rush struggled to create pressure, how Jaxson Dart was able to stay comfortable all night, and why the defensive performance may have been even worse than it looked in real time.
The numbers are ugly. Dallas produced one of the worst defensive performances in the NFL dating back to the start of last season, struggled badly on third down, and generated almost no pressure when rushing only four defenders. We break down what went wrong with Christian Parker's defense, whether the issues were scheme-related or personnel-related, and how concerning it is that many of the same problems from the 2025 Cowboys defense showed up again in Week 1.
We also take a closer look at Dak Prescott and the Cowboys offense, because the offensive performance may have been better than it felt. Dallas only had six meaningful offensive possessions in the entire game, far below the normal NFL average, but still scored 20 points and finished with 3.33 points per possession. The Cowboys also scored touchdowns on both of their second-half drives.
So how much blame should Dak Prescott and the offense really get? Was the running game good enough? Did the Cowboys offensive line struggle? And how much did the defense's inability to get off the field completely change the way we viewed the offense?
Zac breaks down all of that, plus what Dallas needs to fix before Week 2, which problems are actually correctable, and which issues should already have Cowboys fans concerned about the rest of the 2026 season.
Topics include:
Dallas Cowboys vs New York Giants Week 1 reaction
Cowboys defense breakdown
Dallas Cowboys defensive EPA
Christian Parker defense
Cowboys pass rush concerns
Jaxson Dart vs Cowboys
Cowboys third-down defense
Dak Prescott Week 1 performance
Cowboys offense analysis
