Pacers Media Day & Training Camp: My Biggest Takeaways & Reactions
2026/10/02
Pacers basketball is almost back and after Media Day and the first part of training camp, I’ve got a LOT of thoughts. In this episode of Pacers Pulse, I break down the biggest things that stood out to me from Pacers Media Day and training camp so far. From player comments and team chemistry to the early signs of what this roster could look like once the games actually count, there are a few things that caught my attention. Some have me excited. Others have me asking questions. And with the season getting closer, these early details could tell us more about the Pacers than we realize. 🏀 What stood out to you from Media Day and training camp? Let me know in the comments! 👍 Like the video if you enjoyed it 💬 Comment your thoughts 🔔 Subscribe to Pacers Pulse for more Pacers coverage Link for Apple Podcast: https://apple.co/3KyljZT Link for Spotify podcast: http://bit.ly/44IiMD6 Follow us on https://www.instagram.com/pacerspulsepodcast Follow us on https://youtube.com/@pacerspulsepodcast?si=crrXb6UOfZb9uCOH Follow us on https://x.com/pacerspulsepod?s=21 If you’re into basketball cards, check out our eBay page: https://ebay.us/m/LjwNZB Follow us on https://www.instagram.com/hardwoodrips Follow us on https://www.youtube.com/@UC8fpKz0r397MTlTu9Ll4LoQ
I Think We’re Underestimating This Indiana Pacers Player
2026/09/04
Aaron Nesmith probably isn’t going to be the Pacers’ biggest star next season. But what if he ends up being one of their most important players? In this episode of Pacers Pulse, I’am taking a closer look at why I think we may be underestimating Aaron Nesmith heading into the 2026-27 season. Nesmith doesn’t need to become a 20-point scorer or suddenly turn into a star for his value to increase dramatically. In fact, I think his ability to shoot, defend, run in transition, space the floor, and make quick decisions could make him an extremely important piece alongside a healthy Tyrese Haliburton and Pascal Siakam. I’ll break down what Nesmith can provide without needing the ball in his hands, why Haliburton’s return could have a major impact on his game, and why Nesmith’s defensive versatility could be just as important as his shooting. I’ll also look at what the Pacers could look like with different lineups featuring Nesmith, including how he could fit alongside Andrew Nembhard, Ivica Zubac, Pascal Siakam, and Indiana’s small-ball options. But this isn’t going to be an Aaron Nesmith hype video. I’ll also talk about the biggest concerns including offensive inconsistency, shooting variance, availability, and the competition for minutes. And at the end, I’ll give you my prediction for Nesmith’s role, realistic production, and just how important I think he could be to the Pacers this season. Are we looking at Aaron Nesmith the wrong way? And where would you rank him among the five most important players on the Pacers roster? Let me know your top five in the comments. The Indiana Pacers’ Biggest Advantage Nobody Is Talking About
2026/08/31
The NBA is getting bigger but what if that actually creates an opportunity for the Indiana Pacers? In this episode of Pacers Pulse, I dive into what could be one of Indiana’s biggest advantages heading into the 2026-27 NBA season: the ability to play small, play fast, and force bigger teams to keep up. The Pacers don’t necessarily need to beat bigger teams by matching them with size. They may be able to beat them by making them uncomfortable. I’ll break down why Indiana’s pace, ball movement, cutting, transition offense, and ability to attack before defenses are set could create major problems for teams built around size and length. We’ll also look back at the Pacers’ Finals run and how their speed and relentless style helped them make opponents play a game they didn’t always want to play. But there’s an important question: If small-ball can be such a weapon, why did the Pacers add Ivica Zubac? I’ll get into why Zubac doesn’t have to contradict Indiana’s identity and why the real advantage could be having the ability to switch between size and speed depending on the matchup. Plus, I’ll look at what a dangerous Pacers small-ball lineup could look like, when Indiana should use it, and the biggest weaknesses that could keep it from working. Because maybe the question isn’t whether the Pacers have enough size. Maybe the question is whether they can make everyone else play at their speed. The NBA can keep getting bigger. The Pacers don’t have to play their game. 🏀 Topics covered: Why the NBA is getting biggerWhy small-ball could be a major Pacers advantageHow Indiana’s pace can wear down bigger teamsWhat the Pacers’ Finals run taught usHow Ivica Zubac fits into this identityThe small lineup that could change a gameThe biggest weaknesses of playing smallWhy pace could become a weapon in a playoff seriesWhat this could mean for the 2026-27 Pacers Question for you: Would you rather see the Pacers match bigger teams with size, or lean into their speed and try to run those teams out of the building? Let me know in the comments. The Indiana Pacers’ Rotation Is Going to Get VERY Interesting
2026/08/28
What happens if Jay Huff doesn’t play well enough to keep the Pacers’ backup-center minutes? That’s the question at the heart of this episode of Pacers Pulse. Right now, Huff looks like the obvious backup behind Ivica Zubac. But being the projected backup center in August doesn’t guarantee he’ll still have that role once the season begins. What if the defense isn’t good enough? What if rebounding becomes an issue? What if Rick Carlisle doesn’t trust him with 15–20 minutes a night? Who gets those minutes? In this episode, I break down every realistic possibility, from going small and using Pascal Siakam at center, to finding another player on the roster who can absorb those minutes, to potentially making a move at the trade deadline. I’ll look at: 🏀 Why Jay Huff makes sense as the Pacers’ backup center 🏀 What could cause Huff to lose his rotation spot 🏀 What happens if Huff actually works out 🏀 Whether Pascal Siakam can handle small-ball 5 minutes 🏀 If Indiana can survive without a traditional backup center 🏀 Which other players could potentially absorb those minutes 🏀 When the backup-center problem could become a trade deadline issue 🏀 What Indiana would actually need if they entered the trade market 🏀 The four possible plans: Huff, small ball, another big, or a trade And ultimately, this isn’t really about predicting that Jay Huff will fail. It’s about whether the Pacers have a Plan B if he does. So what would YOU do? If Jay Huff isn’t good enough to be the backup center, where should those minutes go? A — Go small B — Move Siakam to the 5 C — Give another big the minutes D — Trade for another center And if you choose D, when do you make the trade? Do you wait until the deadline or try to fix the problem immediately? 20 Games Will Reveal What the Indiana Pacers REALLY Are
2026/08/24
The 2026-27 Indiana Pacers have too many unanswered questions to know right now exactly what this team is. But I think we’ll have a MUCH clearer answer after their first 20 games. In this episode of Pacers Pulse, I’m breaking down the 5 biggest questions that will determine what Indiana can become this season — and by the end, I’ll give you my prediction for where the Pacers will stand after Game 20. 🔥 Is Tyrese Haliburton really back? After his Achilles injury, what does “the old Tyrese” actually look like and what could his return unlock for the rest of the roster? 🧱 Can Ivica Zubac actually change the Pacers? Indiana didn’t acquire Zubac just to add another center. Can he bring the rebounding, interior scoring, physicality and defensive presence this team desperately needs? 🎯 Can Andrew Nembhard become the third creator? Nembhard took a major offensive step last season, but can he prove he can consistently create offense alongside Haliburton and Pascal Siakam? 🛡️ Is the Pacers’ defense finally good enough? With Zubac, Nembhard, Aaron Nesmith and Siakam, can Indiana develop a defensive identity that holds up when the offense isn’t clicking? 🚨 And the biggest question: Are the Pacers actually a playoff team? I don’t think we can answer that today. But after 20 games? I think we’ll know. I’ll also put myself on the record with my Game 20 prediction, including Indiana’s projected record, Eastern Conference position, Haliburton’s progression, Nembhard’s role, Zubac’s impact, the defense, the biggest surprise and the biggest concern. Because the goal isn’t to predict the entire season after one month. It’s to figure out whether the pieces are actually starting to fit. What’s the ONE thing you need to see from the Pacers in their first 20 games before you believe they’re actually a playoff team? Drop your answer in the comments. Who Will Be the Indiana Pacers’ 3rd Scoring Option? The Answer Could Define Their Season
2026/08/19
If Tyrese Haliburton and Pascal Siakam are the Indiana Pacers’ top two offensive players when healthy, one massive question remains: Who becomes the Pacers’ 3rd scoring option? Is it Andrew Nembhard? Could Aaron Nesmith take the next step offensively? Or could Ivica Zubac become a surprisingly important scoring weapon for Indiana? On this episode of Pacers Pulse, I break down all three cases and ask the bigger question: Can the Pacers seriously compete if they don’t have a reliable third scorer? I dive into: 🏀 Why Indiana needs more than just Haliburton and Siakam 🔥 Andrew Nembhard’s ability to create his own shot 🎯 Why Aaron Nesmith could be the perfect offensive fit 💪 How Ivica Zubac could provide reliable interior scoring ⚔️ Nembhard vs. Nesmith vs. Zubac — who has the highest ceiling? 📈 Who fits best alongside Tyrese Haliburton? 🏆 Who could become the most important scorer in a playoff series? 🤔 Does Indiana actually need one permanent third scorer? 🔮 My final ranking and the player I believe NEEDS to become that guy The Pacers don’t necessarily need three 25-point scorers. But they do need another player defenses have to worry about. So who should be Indiana’s third scoring option? Nembhard, Nesmith, or Zubac? Drop your pick and your projected points per game in the comments. Subscribe to Pacers Pulse for more Indiana Pacers analysis, reactions, debates, and offseason coverage. What Is ACTUALLY a Successful Season for the Pacers? The Standard Has Changed
2026/08/14
What would actually make the 2026-27 Indiana Pacers season a success? After one of the worst seasons in franchise history, the expectations entering this season are complicated. Is simply making the Play-In enough? Do the Pacers need to make the playoffs? Should we expect a top-4 seed? Or is anything short of an Eastern Conference Finals or NBA Finals appearance a disappointment? In this episode of Pacers Pulse, I break down exactly what the standard should be for the 2026-27 Indiana Pacers. I discuss: 🏀 Tyrese Haliburton’s return — How much does his recovery and return to his pre-injury form determine Indiana’s ceiling? 🏀 Ivica Zubac’s impact — Can Zubac provide the rebounding, interior presence, screening and defensive stability this team needs? 🏀 Andrew Nembhard’s next step — Could another leap from Nembhard completely change the Pacers’ ceiling? 🏀 The four levels of success — Improvement, Play-In, Playoffs and legitimate contention. 🏀 The minimum expectation — What should Pacers fans consider unacceptable after last season? 🏀 The best-case scenario — What happens if Haliburton returns to form, Siakam has a huge season, Nembhard breaks out and Zubac fits immediately? 🏀 The failure scenario — At what point would another season near the bottom half of the Eastern Conference become a disappointment? And finally, I give my three standards for the Pacers: 👇 What is the minimum outcome you need to see before you would call the 2026-27 Pacers season a success? A — Play-In B — Playoffs C — Top 6 D — Top 4 Don’t just tell me what you expect. Tell me what you think the standard should be. 2026/08/12
🔥 PACERS PULSE HOT TAKE IS HERE! What if Pascal Siakam makes an All-NBA team next season? 👀 I know it sounds like a bold prediction but the more I look at Siakam’s situation with the Indiana Pacers, the more I think there’s a legitimate path for him to get there. In this episode of Pacers Pulse Hot Take, I break down why I believe Pascal Siakam could be headed for an All-NBA season, including: 🏀 Why Siakam has already shown he can play at an elite level  🔥 Why his role and offensive responsibility could set him up for a huge season  📈 The production and efficiency he may need to reach All-NBA status  ⚠️ The biggest reasons this prediction could fail  🎯 My specific statistical projection for Siakam next season  🏆 How much the Pacers’ team success could impact his All-NBA case And most importantly… If Siakam reaches the level I’m predicting, are we really talking about whether he CAN make All-NBA or whether he WILL? Andrew Nembhard Is About to Shock the NBA… The Pacers Have a Breakout Star
2026/08/10
Could Andrew Nembhard be the Indiana Pacers player who makes the biggest leap this season? While much of the attention surrounding the Pacers is focused on Tyrese Haliburton’s return, Ivica Zubac’s impact, and the development of Indiana’s young players, I believe Andrew Nembhard could be the player who takes the biggest step forward. Nembhard has already shown he can perform on the biggest stage. Now, with a healthy Tyrese Haliburton potentially taking pressure off him and Zubac giving Indiana another legitimate pick-and-roll option, Nembhard could be in the perfect situation to elevate his game. In this episode of Pacers Pulse, we break down: 🏀 Why Andrew Nembhard is being overlooked 🔥 What his offensive breakout could look like 🎯 Whether he can become a more consistent three-point threat 🛡️ Why Nembhard could become one of the NBA’s best perimeter defenders ⚡ How Tyrese Haliburton’s return could actually help Nembhard 💪 Why Ivica Zubac could unlock another part of his game ⭐ Whether Nembhard could become an All-Star dark horse 📈 What a successful breakout season would actually look like This isn’t about Andrew Nembhard suddenly becoming a 25-point-per-game superstar. His next leap could be about becoming one of the NBA’s most complete two-way guards. A player who impacts winning on both ends of the floor and becomes one of the most important pieces of the Indiana Pacers. And if that happens, the conversation around Nembhard could look very different by the end of the season. Is Andrew Nembhard about to have a breakout season for the Pacers? 2026/08/05
Johnny Furphy over Jarace Walker and Ben Sheppard? Tyrese Haliburton’s Return Changes EVERYTHING for the Pacers | Indiana’s Biggest Question
2026/08/03
The Indiana Pacers’ entire season could come down to one question: Can Tyrese Haliburton return to the player he was before the Achilles injury? In this episode of Pacers Pulse Podcast, I break down why Tyrese’s comeback could completely change the future of the Indiana Pacers. Before the injury, Haliburton was one of the NBA’s most dynamic young stars an elite playmaker, transition threat, and the engine behind Indiana’s high-powered offense. We discuss: 🏀 What a pre-injury Tyrese Haliburton could look like in 2026-27 🏀 Whether he can return to All-Star form after an Achilles injury 🏀 How Tyrese’s return could unlock Ivica Zubac’s full potential 🏀 Why Andrew Nembhard could become even more valuable alongside him 🏀 How Pascal Siakam could benefit from a healthy Haliburton 🏀 Whether the Pacers can compete for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference The Pacers made major changes this offseason, but no addition or adjustment matters more than getting their franchise player back at full strength. If Tyrese Haliburton is truly back… everything changes for Indiana. Subscribe to Pacers Pulse Podcast for more Indiana Pacers news, reactions, analysis, and offseason coverage. 2026/07/24

Pacers Summer League Revealed MORE Than Expected… Braden Smith Struggles, Jalen Slawson Shines & Two-Way Drama
2026/07/21
The Indiana Pacers have wrapped up NBA Summer League, and there are plenty of takeaways heading into training camp. In this episode of Pacers Pulse Podcast, I break down Braden Smith’s first Summer League performance, where his elite playmaking and basketball IQ were on full display despite shooting struggles. Is Smith already an NBA-caliber backup point guard? Could he eventually replace T.J. McConnell? We discuss what impressed us, what needs improvement, and what his rookie season could look like. I also dive into Jalen Slawson’s outstanding Summer League. After averaging 20.8 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 3.2 blocks per game, has Slawson done enough to earn Indiana’s final two-way contract? We examine his defensive versatility, rim protection, improved offensive confidence, and why he may have played his way into the Pacers’ future plans. Plus, I react to the Pacers waiving Taelon Peter shortly after Summer League ended. What does the move mean? Was it simply a roster decision, or does it signal another move is coming? Finally, I discuss who should receive Indiana’s final two-way roster spot and whether the Pacers should reward Slawson or look elsewhere before training camp. 🔹 Braden Smith Summer League analysis 🔹 Jalen Slawson breakout performance 🔹 Taelon Peter waived reaction 🔹 Final Pacers two-way contract debate 🔹 Indiana Pacers roster analysis and training camp outlook Who do you think deserves the Pacers’ final two-way contract? 5 Questions That Will DEFINE the Indiana Pacers’ 2026-27 Season
2026/07/17
The Indiana Pacers are heading into the 2026-27 season with something to prove. After one of the most disappointing seasons in franchise history, Indiana is looking to bounce back but there are still major questions that will determine whether this team can return to playoff contention or face another uphill battle. In this episode of Pacers Pulse, I break down the 5 biggest questions facing the Pacers heading into the new season and give my thoughts on what each answer could mean for the future of this team. We discuss: 🏀 What will Tyrese Haliburton look like when he returns from injury?  How long will it take for him to get back to his All-Star form, and how patient should Pacers fans be during his recovery? 🏀 How will Ivica Zubac change the Pacers’ offense?  Will adding a true interior presence transform Indiana’s style of play, and how will Zubac fit alongside Tyrese Haliburton and Pascal Siakam? 🏀 Who wins the final rotation battle: Ben Sheppard or Jarace Walker?  Which player gives Indiana the best chance to win now, and who has the higher long-term upside? 🏀 Is the Pacers’ guard rotation good enough?  With Tyrese working his way back, can Andrew Nembhard, TJ McConnell, and the rest of the guards provide enough playmaking and stability? 🏀 Can the Pacers bounce back from the worst season in franchise history?  What does Indiana need to do differently to go from one of the league’s worst teams back into a legitimate contender? The 2026-27 season has the potential to be a turning point for the Pacers. The answers to these questions could determine the direction of this franchise for years to come. Let me know in the comments: Which question do you think will decide the Pacers’ season?
