2025/09/24
About Dr. Eric J. Holsapple: Founder of Living in the Gap, has realized the value of mindfulness as not only a path to personal success but as a sound business strategy. He has a unique perspective on how merging business and mindfulness can be a catalyst for changing lives, which inspired him to write Profit with Presence: The 12 Pillars of Mindful Leadership. In addition to providing leadership at Living in the Gap, Eric has been a successful developer, entrepreneur, CEO, university lecturer, yoga and meditation practitioner and teacher, and philanthropist. He holds an MBA and a Ph.D. in economics.
In this episode Adam and Dr. Eric discuss:
Eric’s book, Profit with Presence: The 12 Pillars of Mindful LeadershipThe 1st Pillar of Mindful Leadership: mindfulness and presenceThe 2nd Pillar of Mindful Leadership: finding your purpose in lifeThe 3rd Pillar of Mindful Leadership: creating clarity, vision, intention, commitment, and habitsIncorporating mindfulness in the workplace
Key Takeaways:
The current state of the world has caused people to become distracted and incapable of paying attention. Unless people learn to slow down and be present, it will not only affect their work environment but also their homes.Be present and practice mindfulness. By being mindful and aware of your actions, and being present in the moment, you reduce stress and improve your mental and emotional health.Know your purpose to improve your motivation and presence in the world. Your purpose is what motivates you in the morning, not what drags you out of bed.The first and second pillars are about creating clarity - being mindful, being present, and finding our purpose give us clarity of mind and goals. Commit to those goals and eliminate habits that do not align with your vision and commitment.Take time to practice gratitude, meditate consistently, find some other mindful activities, and listen without judgment.
“Mindfulness itself automatically makes us a little more sensitive to what we put in our body, but it takes some focused attention and intention.” – Dr. Eric J. Holsapple

A Conversation with Stephanie Casper, both a Real Estate Lending Executive and Real Estate Investor
2025/09/17
About Stephanie Casper: Chief Revenue Officer Stephanie leads the Sales and Marketing teams at Kiavi. She has been a lender to residential investors since 2015 when she joined CoreVest Finance as Head of Bridge Lending. In that role, Stephanie worked directly with customers to develop additional loan products to meet the changing needs of the residential investor. She has a B.S. from The Hotel School at Cornell University, and an MBA from UNC Chapel Hill. Stephanie is a fellow investor in the SFR space with a small portfolio of rentals. She caught the residential investment bug from watching her grandfather pick up investment properties over his lifetime, and plans to continue to follow in his footsteps.
In this episode Adam and Stephanie discuss:Who Kiavi lends to for residential investmentsThe demand for owning rental propertiesMaking investment decisionsTop tips for accessing capital in real estateScaling a business with single family
Key Takeaways: As a nationwide lender, Kiavi's customers tend to fall into three categories based on their size and size of investment: hobbyists or people just getting into investing for the first time, flippers or owners of rental portfolios, and people who invest in residential properties as business.A steady cash flow and preservation of capital meet an investor's kind of return threshold or return hurdle and that's why there is this sort of interest in owning rentals because the fundamentals of economics and demographics support it.Look at the math when buying and holding rentals - it shouldn't be an emotional buy. Get a sense of what the top line of the property's revenues will be, make sure the rent is met, and do some research. It is now possible for investors to find financing from a variety of lenders. If you are considering buying a property or if you know someone who owns or invests in real estate, ask around. Real estate investors love to share their stories and success with others.Having the right expertise and people around you, even if you don't have direct experience, and having realistic expectations on how long it takes makes a business with a single family scalable and can leverage that durable capital.
“Figure out your risk tolerance and threshold related to leverage and understand that it doesn't always make sense to be at 100% leverage.” – Stephanie Casper

Systematize your Real Estate Business with Jess Lenouvel
2025/09/10
About Jess Lenouvel: Jess Lenouvel is an author, speaker, media contributor, and Founder of The Listings Lab. A real estate marketing and business scaling vanguard, she made the decision to stop selling after 13 years in the business and help agents create scalable, sustainable businesses by creating relationships at scale. The Listings Lab was founded in 2018 and Jess and her team have shown over 20,000 agents how to build scalable, sustainable businesses for the digital era that don’t require a choice between lifestyle and financial freedom.A sought-after media expert on real estate marketing, Jess and The Listings Lab method have been featured in Forbes and Entrepreneur and she has spoken at the Berkshire Hathaway Home Services Sales Convention for 55,000 agents.
In this episode Adam and Jess discuss:The downside of hustle cultureBuilding systems and using teamsScaling a service-based businessOperating in your zone of genius
Key Takeaways: Real estate professionals often get caught up in the hustle culture, not realizing that working long hours and giving up everything for money, without knowing the limits of their physical and emotional health, can be disastrous. There's probably 99% of your business that can be done by someone else better than you, and you shouldn’t feel uncomfortable about it. When you break your business down systematically into different parts and roles, and you find people who are better at these things than you are, then you will be able to come up with something that is better as a whole than it would be on your own.The key to scaling your business is breaking it down into smaller segments and chunks and eliminating automation or outsourcing of each segment one by one - when it's done, you feel a tremendous amount of pressure and you can focus on what's going to generate the highest value and impact for the business. When everything is in your head and everything is manual, it can be very difficult to maintain consistency in terms of quality. Having a team means that while you cannot do everything, there are others who have much greater expertise in some of these areas.
“Just because something works when you're at 100,000 doesn't mean that it's still going to work and still going to be effective at a million or 2 million or 5 million… and so a lot of what we focus on in the book is really creating systems and creating frameworks, and having you do the work on the front end that is going to work for you no matter how big you get” – Jess Lenouvel

In this episode Adam and Vance discuss:Creating experiences out of the mundaneHow to stand out and get your clients’ attentionPaying attention to detailThe power of anticipatory service
Key Takeaways: The unique thing about Disney is that it has managed to make even the mundane things they do to run its business into experiences by putting its emphasis on customer experience and client experience. If you want to communicate important information to your clients, try FedEx instead of email; it always gets opened, unlike emails that can end up in the Spam folder and then deleted. That's how you stand out and get their attention. You must pay attention to detail, as it has only two things that details can do - either enhance the experience or detract from it.Instead of waiting for customers to ask for the solution, offer it proactively before they ever ask for it.

In this episode Adam and Darin discuss:Investing in multi-family real estateHow to passively invest in real estate without management dramaThe truth about the rental property businessProven track record matters.
Key Takeaways: A multifamily property is more attractive for investors because it is easier to finance, it grows faster, and its management is more convenient. With Darin Garman's Heartland Multi-Family Companies you can own your own apartment community without having to learn about it, figure it out, take classes just to make sure it all goes smoothly. The world is becoming more and more a renter society, not an owner society. Systemized Relationship Marketing with Steve Buzogany
2025/08/20
About Steve Buzogany: Steve is the Founder and CEO of The Appreciation Advocate. Their company uses the practice of gift-giving and appreciation to generate referrals for other small businesses.
In this episode Adam and Steve discuss:The three major problems with gift givingThe 80-20 rulePromotions vs gifts
Key Takeaways: Essentially, gift-giving has three problems: you only make one first impression, it's usually neutral or negative, and the feedback loop on gifting is one big, massive, complete lie.The 20% of factors responsible for 80% of the results must be prioritized. Identify your top 20% of people and spend your time and resources on them – this is where you get most of your money and get the most ROI, too.A promotion is typically a cheap item that is given in bulk and discarded quickly whereas a gift is a unique item that you keep and never forget – one makes a fantastic impression every day of the year, while the other one does not make one impression, so it ends up in the trash.
“It's really about knowing your customer and what they like when we do our gift giving.” - Steve Buzogany

Creating a Morning Routine with Jenny Lee
2025/08/13
About Jenny Lee: Founder and owner of BeeVibe, Jenny Lee teaches women how to create a joyful morning routine that fits their lifestyle and fits what they naturally love doing.
In this episode Adam and Jenny discuss:The importance of having a morning routineHow to start the day productively?Making your morning routine funStarting a new habitHelping your kids with their routines
Key Takeaways: How you start your day makes a huge difference in how your day goes. Start your day productively, and you'll be able to maintain that momentum of productivity throughout the day.Getting out of bed in the morning is usually the biggest obstacle in starting your day productively. Wake up early – it can be difficult at first, but you can try starting small with ten minutes earlier and adding on as you go.The key to a joyful morning is to associate waking up in the morning with positivity and gratitude, and choosing an activity that you enjoy doing so you'll be motivated to do it again the next day.If you want to start a new habit, you should make it easy, simple, and fun - a new habit that isn't fun or enjoyable will not last.Allow your child to pick something that he/she enjoys and then try it together.
“Think about what gives you the most fun, what makes you the most exhilaration, and integrate that into your morning routine.” - Jenny Lee

In this episode Adam and Dr. Rashmi discuss:Getting back into balanceReconnect with nature. What is stress and how does it affect usUsing meditation in our everyday lives
Key Takeaways: Try two minutes of meditation or breathwork a day while adding some kind of whole food to your diet. Small incremental changes and consistency are all it takes to get back to balance.Don't worry too much about the risk of COVID when you go outside. Keeping your immune system healthy will allow you to spend more time outside and around nature, which is good for mental health. We are often unable to get past our perception of stress, which can lead to anxiety and depression unless we physically remove it from our mind-body system.Have a daily meditation practice – it’s time-efficient and cost-efficient. By moving from activity to silence to stillness, you are building up your mindfulness muscle in the fastest way and also relieving stress.
“Meditation can be woven into any lifestyle and it can be used for a whole host of reasons. I would say the number one reason that most people come to it, certainly when I'm working with them is for stress relief, and it is a really potent, powerful antidote to this chronic daily stress.” - Dr. Rashmi Schramm

Just Breathe. It is Going to Be Ok with Megan Callus
2025/07/23
About Megan Callus: Megan is the creator and founder of Boundless Breath NJ. She spent the last decade studying the brain and body and found the most powerful way of changing and healing the body was simply adjusting the way we breathe. She created Boundless Breath, specializing in respiratory training (aka breathwork) to teach clients how to use their breath to reduce stress and heal their bodies. Megan focuses on the neurology, biochemistry, biomechanics, and psychosocial elements of breathing. Her goal is to help everyone discover the power and magic of their own breath.
In this episode Adam and Megan discuss:The importance of the breathIs there a right way to breathe?Getting the most out of breathwork exercises Breathing during meditation
Key Takeaways: Several body systems are affected by how we breathe, so we should recognize how our breath impacts them, as well as what different breathing practices we will use, whether we are going to use our breath for energy, or whether we are going to use it for anxiety and stress reduction.Depending on the results you're seeking, there is a right way to breathe, but the optimal breath is an inhalation through the nose that is quiet and slow.Taking care of oneself, as well as learning techniques and tools, such as breathwork exercises, can help people to be more productive and healthier, and allow them to be in a state of focus, flow, and productivity in the workplace. In meditative practice, it is best to breathe through your nose almost always – pay attention to the sensations of your breath, the coolness of the air as it enters your nostrils, the warmth of the air as it leaves, the expansion of your belly, sides, and back when you inhale and the contraction as you exhale. The more focused you can be on your breath, the slower you become, and the easier it is for you to enter a meditative state.
“When you're in those states of stress, if you take just a moment to pause and take 10 breaths extending those exhales, you're going to recognize that you can shift and be more functional and that the perspective on things will shift as well.” - Megan Callus

A Conversation with Mr. Jan D. Freitag - National Director of Hospitality Analytics, U.S.CoStar Group
2025/07/16
About Jan Freitag: Jan Freitag is the National Director for Hospitality Market Analytics at CoStar and is Senior Vice President of Lodging Insights for STR. He is a sought-after public speaker and is frequently quoted in trade publications and the general news media such as The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Associated Press, Reuters, Forbes, etc. Jan holds a bachelor’s degree, with distinction, from the School of Hotel Administration, Cornell University, and received his Executive MBA, with honors, from Vanderbilt University.
In this episode Adam and Jan discuss:The state of the hotel and hospitality marketInflation and room ratesHotel industry staffing shortages
Key Takeaways: Travel and spending would be greatly affected by the recession, and businesses would suffer for sure. There is a higher demand for rooms, especially in the very high-end categories, since people really want to reward themselves after going through the pandemic. But, as inflation rises and everything becomes more expensive, operators need to pass on some of those costs to consumers.Keep patience, kindness, and respect for hotel servers at all times. Give generous tips if you can - many employees work with fewer staff members, but are working hard and efficiently.
“This idea of being in the service business, a lot of people confuse that with being a servant but that's not what this is about – this is providing good service at the right rate. If you are working in the right property with the right clientele, it can be a really fulfilling career, we just have to communicate that with people who are looking for new careers.” - Jan Freitag

What The Hell Is Going On?
2025/07/09
In this episode Adam discuss:The uncertainties in the marketLiving in the suburbs vs. New York CityWhat’s on the horizon for real estate inflationPre-holiday layoffs by companies
Key Takeaways: Nobody knows what's going on with the real estate market, and the people deserve an administration that can reassure us of how they handle things and are capable of dealing with them. There's a greater chance of getting healthier and living a better life if you move to the suburbs. The inflation rate is a constant fight and will continue to change. In general, government tends to get in the way, and unless we elect the right people and act in our own best interests, it will get worse.

Key Takeaways: Keeping yourself healthy and fit is essential for your success in real estate, and 10 minutes of meditation in a quiet area where you can breathe in through your nose and exhale through your mouth will help you be more mindful and productive.Breathe in through your nose, breathe out from your mouth.
