44. 3 Henschke Wines, 3 Very Different Personalities
2026/10/15
I sat down with Gwyn Olsen from Henschke to taste three wines from the 2023 Legacy Collection: Tapas Shiraz, Keyneton Euphonium Shiraz Cabernet and Marble Angel Cabernet. We explore what makes each wine unique, why Keyneton Euphonium is such an important part of the Henschke story, and why you should drink wine when you enjoy it, not when someone else tells you to! We also talk Barossa terroir, trophy winning wines and the art of knowing when a bottle is ready to go.
43. Inside Henschke: What Makes a Great Wine Judge?
2026/10/01
I sat down with Gwyn Olsen, Senior Winemaker at Henschke, for a proper deep dive into wine, winemaking and what it really takes to judge a wine. We talk about her journey from university to Henschke, wine show judging, the AWAC, the legendary Len Evans Tutorial, and why not liking a wine doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad wine.
42. I Never Expected THIS From a Corporate Pinot Noir!
2026/09/17
I cracked open the Blood of the Earth Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir, a private label wine from Pinnacle Drinks, and tasted it completely fresh. Brambly fruit, cherries, raspberries and that unmistakable forest floor character, followed by good acid and surprising length. I reckon this is a seriously well made wine, and blind, I’d happily call it a banger.
41. Can You Get Good Wine for Under $10?
2026/09/03
I headed to Aldi with $30 and one mission: find out if you can actually get a decent bottle of wine for under $10. I tasted a French sparkling, a Clare Valley Riesling and a French Pinot Noir, with one of them turning out to be an absolute belter. From lime sherbet and racy acidity to crunchy Pinot and a surprisingly drinkable sparkler, here’s my honest take on what your $10 can get you. 🍷
40. 5 Chardonnays, 5 Sites, a 10am Tasting for the ages!
2026/08/27
I headed to the mighty Yarra Valley to taste Giant Steps' 2025 Single Vineyard Chardonnays with Mel and Mike. From Tarraford and Sexton to Applejack, Primavera and Bastard Hill, we explored what makes each vineyard unique. We also talked Australian Chardonnay, great bottles and why sometimes you just have to let the vineyard do its thing. And yes, there were dirty martinis, Dolly Parton and Chardonnay before lunchtime.
39. Are These Standish Shiraz Wines Worth The Hype?
2026/08/13
Brenden tastes through four 2024 Standish Shiraz wines from the Barossa and Eden Valleys, exploring their wildly different personalities, from bold and spicy to floral, fresh, and silky. Discover the standout characteristics of The Relic, Standish, Schubert Theorem, and Lamella, and find out which wines Brendan would drink now, cellar, or bring out to impress.
38. Why Mount Pleasant Defines Australian Wine
2026/07/30
Step inside Mount Pleasant, one of Australia's most iconic wineries, and discover the legacy of Maurice O'Shea, century-old vineyards, and Chief Winemaker Adrian Sparks. From the birthplace of the Shiraz-Pinot blend to some of Australia's greatest wines, Brenden explores why Mount Pleasant continues to shape the future of Australian wine while honoring its remarkable past.
37. Why Non-Vintage Champagne Is Harder Than Vintage
2026/06/18
Ever wondered how great Champagne stays consistent year after year? In this deep dive with Hervé Dantan, we uncover the art of blending hundreds of wines, decades of reserve stocks, and multiple tastings to create a single bottle of Champagne Lanson Black Création. A fascinating look at why non-vintage Champagne may be the most challenging wine to make.
36. 70 Years Later: Is Wynns Still Australia's Benchmark Cabernet?
2026/06/11
For over 70 years, Wynns Coonawarra Estate has helped define Australian Cabernet Sauvignon. In this episode, we explore the history, legacy, and enduring appeal of one of the country's most iconic wine producers.
35. Why These One-Litre Wines Are Genius?
2026/05/21
Wine Animal visits McGill Wines in the heart of the Barossa Valley to explore a unique passion project built around estate-grown wines, one-litre bottles, and unforgettable vineyard stays. From sunset views and old vines to Shiraz, Cabernet, and Nero d’Avola, this is a deep dive into boutique Barossa wine culture done differently.
34. How Tolpuddle Became Tasmania's Wine Icon

32. Leeuwin Art Series: The Chardonnay That Endures
2026/04/01
Brenno and Erin Larkin unpack one of Australia’s most iconic wines, Leeuwin Estate Art Series Chardonnay.
From the exceptional 2023 vintage to the discipline behind its timeless style, this conversation explores why some wines transcend trends and only get better with time.
31. Blind Wine Tasting Gone Completely Sideways
2026/03/19
A blind wine tasting between friends quickly turns into a battle of instinct, ego, and experience. With no labels and no hints, every guess relies purely on what’s in the glass, and that’s where things start to unravel.
Watch as confident calls shift, assumptions get challenged, and subtle flavor cues lead both tasters down completely different paths. It’s a raw, honest look at how even seasoned wine lovers can be surprised, second-guess themselves, and still enjoy the process.
30. Bacon, Eggs & Real Talk in the Barossa
2026/03/12
Brenno sits down with Dan Eggleton of Ben Murray Wines for a conversation that goes far deeper than wine.
After tragedy in the Barossa community, Dan started a simple monthly breakfast, bacon, eggs and coffee, creating a space where growers, winemakers and locals can talk openly and support each other.
This episode explores the pressures of rural life, the importance of mateship, and why sometimes a simple conversation can make all the difference.
