Live from Berlin: THE 6 AI TRENDS THAT WILL CHANGE EVERYTHING
2026/09/23
For the first time ever, the BIG BANG Tech Report went live – on stage, in front of 11,000 people at the BIG BANG KI FESTIVAL in Berlin. No screens between them, no time zones separating them. Just Jens de Buhr and Alvin Wang Graylin, a clicker, and one of the biggest conversations in tech.
In this special live episode, they work through six AI megatrends shaping 2027: the AI investment bubble and what entrepreneurs should do before the winter comes; AI as colleague, manager and eventual CEO – and who carries the liability; the creative industry’s $2,000 NBA Finals commercial and what it means for jobs; humanoid robots, the reality check behind the hype (globally: 17,000 to 18,000 units shipped in six months); AI in medicine and why Demis Hassabis may be the most trustworthy voice in the room; and the safety question – why the race condition is the most dangerous idea in tech today.
They also answer the question the audience came for: which of the eight AI Apostles – Altman, Huang, Musk, Amodei, Gates, Hassabis, Zuckerberg, Harari – should you actually listen to? And which are talking their book?
The episode closes with a challenge to reframe the whole conversation: not who wins the AI race, but what the human race wins from AI. And Alvin’s prediction for 2027: we will look back and realize we should have started working together earlier instead of racing and fighting.

Burning Man meets AI: Why the Future needs more Humanity
2026/09/09
What happens when one of the world’s leading AI strategists spends a week in the Nevada desert with no money, no hierarchy – and a lot of conversations about artificial intelligence?
In this episode of the BIG BANG Tech Report, Jens de Buhr and Alvin Wang Graylin reflect on Alvin’s research trip to Burning Man – and what eighty thousand people in the desert can teach us about the future of work, creativity, community and the role of AI in human life.
They discuss why artists at Burning Man are not fighting AI but asking how to use it to reach bigger audiences; why the real Luddites were not anti-technology but fighting for economic survival; and why the gifting economy of Burning Man – where people work hard for each other without money changing hands – might be a prototype for what comes after scarcity.
The conversation turns serious as Alvin and Jens address OpenAI’s Astro launch and the growing debate around AGI: Jensen Huang calling it AGI, OpenAI’s president welcoming the “age of AGI” – and OpenAI’s chief scientist publishing a paper calling AI “alien intelligence” he can no longer control. Only one percent of AI investment goes into safety. And unlike pharmaceuticals or aviation, there are no global safety regulations. The race is moving faster than civilization can adapt.
The episode closes with a call to action: come together, face to face, and figure out what we want to do about it. One week before the BIG BANG KI FESTIVAL in Berlin.

STOP SEARCHING. START DELEGATING.
2026/08/26
Is AI moving us from the attention economy to the trust economy? And if so, what does that mean for Google, for Anthropic’s IPO, for children growing up with AI as their first confidant – and for the bubble debate that’s getting louder by the day?
In this episode of the BIG BANG Tech Report, Jens de Buhr and Alvin Wang Graylin run through a packed agenda: the shift from “help me” to “do it for me”; whether Google must kill search before someone else does; the Buffett Indicator at 240 % of US GDP; what Anthropic’s rumoured IPO would actually reveal about the economics of frontier AI labs; why China has already won physical AI while digital AI may end up being a global public good; and how a laser weapon built by five people shows what startups can now do that was impossible before.
The episode closes with Alvin’s most unexpected research project: heading to Burning Man to test whether its gifting economy could serve as a proto-economic model for a post-AGI world – and whether eighty thousand people in the Nevada desert can teach us something about what comes after productivity.

Three AI visionaries shaping the future of chips, cinema, open source and work
2026/07/30
Is singularity already here – or is Sam Altman just making headlines? In this episode of the BIG BANG Tech Report, Jens de Buhr and Alvin Wang Graylin examine five signals reshaping AI markets and society.
They discuss the OpenAI model escape incident and what it reveals about operational maturity at frontier labs; China’s accelerating semiconductor progress and its impact on memory stocks; Nvidia’s open-source alliance and why almost every major AI company – except Anthropic – has signed on; AI-generated cinema and what Elon Musk’s full-length Odyssey ambition says about the democratization of visual storytelling; and Alvin’s takeaways from the World AI Conference in China, where East and West are converging on a shared message: AI should be a public good, not a weapon.
The episode closes with a reflection on a broader shift already underway: people are no longer fighting AI – they are partnering with it. And that changes everything.

AI at a Turning Point: Why the Next Shift Will Create New Opportunities
2026/07/15
Could the AI boom be heading toward a major correction — not because the technology is failing, but because its economics may not add up?
In this episode of the BIG BANG Tech Report, Jens de Buhr and Alvin Wang Graylin discuss why humanoid robots are still stronger as demos than as businesses, how smaller models could move AI from the cloud onto personal devices, and why open models may challenge AI labs, chipmakers and hyperscale data centers.
At the center is the question of whether falling AI costs, rising infrastructure spending and unclear enterprise returns could trigger a market reset. Alvin argues that such a correction could be painful — but also redirect AI toward broader access, global cooperation and more human-centered priorities.
Further reading: Alvin Wang Graylin expands on this argument in his essay “The Great Reckoning Before the Reconnecting”, exploring why a potential AI crash could lead to five broader economic and societal “reconnectings.”

Eric Schmidt booed: Is the mood turning against AI?
2026/05/20
Are we leaving behind an era defined by larger models, data centers, and valuations? In this episode of the BIG BANG Tech Report, Jens de Buhr and Alvin Wang Graylin discuss the latest developments shaping the AI industry and enterprise technology landscape. They explore OpenAI’s current challenges, the long-term AI infrastructure potential around SpaceX, and why scalable infrastructure and orchestration may become more important than individual large models.
AI is leaving the Box - it hears, it sees, it acts.
2026/05/13
Are we leaving the chatbot phase behind and entering the age of industrial AI? In this episode of the BIG BANG Tech Report, Jens de Buhr and Alvin Wang Graylin discuss how AI is transitioning from interfaces to production lines, healthcare, defense, capital markets and labor law. The stakes are now about who controls computing power, captures productivity gains and how societies adapt. They discuss topics such as Anthropic's momentum, Elon Musk's compute deal, Pentagon contracts, Google's focus on healthcare AI for clinicians, China's regulation-first approach to AI and new court rulings against AI-driven layoffs. Regarding Europe and Germany, Graylin rejects the "winner takes all" narrative: The opportunity is not necessarily to invent the next frontier model but rather to integrate AI into the economy without undermining social trust.

The AI Power Game
2026/04/29
Are we entering an AI era defined not by innovation, but by geopolitical bargaining? In the eleventh episode, Jens de Buhr and Alvin Wang Graylin map the emerging power dynamic between the U.S. and China, as well as Europe’s uncertain position within it. While Washington and Beijing negotiate chips, trade, and AI access, Europe risks becoming a rule-taker rather than a rule-maker. The discussion highlights a structural shift: AI is not just a technological race, but also a lever of economic pressure, national security, and global influence. At the same time, rapid advances in agentic AI and automation are reaching a tipping point, and job displacement is likely to accelerate exponentially. Treating AI as a global public good modeled after CERN emerges as a potential strategic opening for Europe.

How AI Rewrites Work and Power: When One Person Becomes a Company
2026/04/08
Are we entering an era where one person can replace entire teams?
In the tenth episode, we cut through the hype to have a real conversation about AI. AI is not only boosting productivity; it is also changing how companies operate. The Stanford Enterprise AI Playbook reveals that success hinges more on leadership, workflows, and culture than on technology. Those who rethink entire processes will be the winners. The consequences are already visible: fewer hires, pressure on middle management, and a shift from execution to judgment.
Musk, Meta, OpenClaw, MoltBook — and the Fight for the Future of Work
2026/03/25
In the ninth episode of the BIG BANG TECH REPORT, Jens de Buhr and Alvin Wang Graylin explore the next AI battleground: not chatbots, but agent systems that could fundamentally reshape how work and organizations are structured.
Who will control the next layer of value creation? The conversation examines the growing competition between players like NVIDIA, Meta, and Elon Musk’s xAI—from ambitious chip infrastructure to the idea of AI agents as the operating system of a new digital economy.
Beyond the hype, the episode looks at what AI agents mean in practice: systems that execute tasks, collaborate with other agents, and potentially replace entire layers of management. From AI-driven organizations to the rise of one-person companies, a shift in how work is organized is already underway.
At the same time, the discussion highlights key risks—security vulnerabilities, increased workplace transparency, AI-driven management, and accelerating job displacement. It also raises broader geopolitical and ethical questions, from AI in warfare to the global race for faster deployment.
At its core, this episode asks: are we moving too fast—and who ensures this transformation remains stable and beneficial?

Why tech faces a long, painful fallout from Iran
2026/03/11
In the eighth episode of the BIG BANG TECH REPORT, Jens de Buhr and Alvin Wang Graylin discuss the technological ripple effects of the escalating tensions between the United States and Iran.
What does geopolitical conflict mean for the global tech industry? The conversation explores how disruptions in energy markets could slow the AI race, why data centers may become strategic assets in future conflicts, and how the global balance of technological power could shift in unexpected ways.
Beyond geopolitics, the episode also looks at emerging shifts inside the tech world itself—from Apple’s evolving AI strategy and the rise of powerful small models to the possibility that a single founder, equipped with AI agents, might build companies that once required entire teams.
From energy and infrastructure to AI, startups, and global innovation strategies, this episode asks a central question: how will today’s geopolitical tensions reshape the future of technology?

Bad outlook for SAP, ServiceNow, Mastercard, and Visa
2026/02/25
Are we entering a winner-takes-all AI era or a systemic economic shock? In the seventh episode, Jens de Buhr and Alvin Wang Graylin argue that the real disruption is not model quality but collapsing costs. As intelligence approaches the price of electricity, AI agents shift from tools to autonomous economic actors, replacing software suites, service revenues, and white-collar workflows at scale. A viral U.S. forecast warns of a “Global Intelligence Crisis” by 2028: automation drives layoffs, demand weakens, and the cycle reinforces itself. The debate is no longer about who has the best model, but whether markets and governments can absorb intelligence that is becoming abundant, cheap, and geopolitically contested.
