Bonus Book Episode | A Fortnight to Forever & Author Interview with Alycia E. Anderson
2026/09/28
After a long hiatus, we are FINALLY reviewing another romantasy! In "A Fortnight to Forever" by Alycia E. Anderson, Quinn has been cursed by a jealous prince to sleep for 100 years at a time; she is awoken once a century for only two weeks, during which she must find someone to aid on a quest. Only true love can break the curse - but two weeks has never been enough time to fall in love... Mav is an ex-knight with a ruined reputation. When Quinn becomes magically bound to him by her curse, he wants nothing more than to be unbound. But somewhere between Quinn aiding him and Mav aiding her, they begin to find themselves tethered together by more than just a magic spell. This book had lovable characters, whimsical magic, and above all, an excruciatingly slow burn of a love story (just how we like it). And the best part is, we got to hear from the author herself! Alycia E. Anderson joins us in the episode for an insightful interview on her writing process, the inspiration for our favorite parts of the story, and some hot takes on the romantasy genre as a whole. We hope you enjoy, and thank you for listening! Stay tuned for October schedule which will be posted very soon. 2026/09/26
At long last, The Love Hypothesis has arrived! After months of Lili Reinhart doing the absolute MOST to hype us up for this movie, we have finally seen it with our own eyes. Despite being lukewarm fans of the book, we were super excited for this movie, and thankfully, it did not disappoint. We hope you enjoy our full review, including a thorough breakdown of THAT scene. Before we dive into the movie, Sydney tells us about her trip to France and Italy, we discuss the latest episode of Dancing with the Stars, and we celebrate Emily Henry's title and release date reveal of her next book. Moulin Rouge! | Another Romantic Musical Review
2026/09/11
This week on Call Me When They Kiss, we are celebrating Sydney's 30th birthday by reviewing Moulin Rouge! This iconic film by Baz Luhrman was nominated for a whopping EIGHT Oscars. Sydney shares her thoughts on her first time experiencing the movie, we decide where it falls in our ranking of favorite musicals, and we toy with the idea of turning Twilight into a jukebox musical. Before we dive in to our Moulin Rouge discussion, we debrief on all of the September TV shows returning to our screens (Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, Dancing With the Stars, Traitors, and Survivor), talk about what else we've been watching lately, and debrief the "Remain" trailer (an upcoming 2027 movie starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Phoebe Dynevor, from the minds of M. Night Shyamalan and Nicholas Sparks). Next week, we'll be reviewing "Imagine Me and You," a cozy, autumnal, sapphic romcom. You can see our full September schedule on Instagram and TikTok, @callmewhentheykiss. Our September romance book is "A Fortnight to Forever" by Alycia E. Anderson. Join us for our bonus episode on Monday, September 28 to hear our thoughts on the book, and we'll be joined by the author herself! Thanks for listening! See you next Friday!
Finding Emily | The Best Rom-Com of 2026

If you haven't seen it yet, consider this your sign to drop what you're doing and go and see it (except don't forget to come back to this episode when you're done). We've been skeptical of British rom-coms in the past, but we loved so much about this movie -- including the fact that it was written and directed by women! Jen Deluca: Author of Well Met - A Cozy Ren Faire Romance | Bonus Book Review and Author Interview
2026/08/31
This month, we read “Well Met” by Jen Deluca — a cozy, enemies-to-lovers contemporary romance set at a small-town Renaissance fair. What makes this episode extra special though is that Jen joined us! It was such a pleasure to chat with her and discuss everything from her journey to becoming a full-time writer to the inspiration behind the Well Met series and why she believes happily-ever-afters are so important. Well Met is the first book in a series of interconnected standalones, and the fifth book, Well Versed, will be released on September 22. We also discuss Jen’s personal experience in a small-town ren faireOur favorite scenes in Well Met and Jen’s favorite scenes to writeJen’s writing process and approach to balancing romance with other topics such as losing oneself or dealing with grief.Jen’s upcoming book and finale in the Well Met series, Well VersedJen’s favorite romance movies, books, and authorsAnd we play a game of “Huzzah! or Nah.,” debating which bookish and ren faire favorites are worth the hype. If you haven’t read this series yet, consider this your sign! It might just be the perfect cozy rom-com you’ve been looking for. If you enjoyed the episode, don't forget to follow the podcast and leave us a five-star review! @callmewhentheykiss Xoxo, CMWTK 💕 “All's faire in love and war for two sworn enemies who indulge in a harmless flirtation in a laugh-out-loud rom-com… Emily knew there would be strings attached when she relocated to the small town of Willow Creek, Maryland, for the summer to help her sister recover from an accident, but who could anticipate getting roped into volunteering for the local Renaissance Faire alongside her teenaged niece? Or that the irritating and inscrutable schoolteacher in charge of the volunteers would be so annoying that she finds it impossible to stop thinking about him? The faire is Simon's family legacy and from the start he makes clear he doesn't have time for Emily's lighthearted approach to life, her oddball Shakespeare conspiracy theories, or her endless suggestions for new acts to shake things up. Yet on the faire grounds he becomes a different person, flirting freely with Emily when she's in her revealing wench's costume. But is this attraction real, or just part of the characters they're portraying? This summer was only ever supposed to be a pit stop on the way to somewhere else for Emily, but soon she can't seem to shake the fantasy of establishing something more with Simon, or a permanent home of her own in Willow Creek.” Keywords: Contemporary Romance, Rom Com, Romance Novel, Romance Books, Renaissance Faire,  Romance, Author, Author Interview, Ren Faire, Books, Book Recommendations, Romance Tropes, Enemies to Lovers

One Night Only | Rom-Com, Sex-Com, or Satire?
2026/08/14
Welcome back to Call Me When They Kiss! Today we are reviewing a romantic comedy that got a theatrical release, which is always exciting! But is it actually a romantic comedy?? Let us know what you think. One Night Only stars Callum Turner and Monica Barbaro in a dystopian United States where premarital sex has been outlawed for all but one night a year. They race across New York City, both trying to find someone to sleep with before their 12-hour chance is up. Before we dive into our thoughts on this bizarre "rom-com," we also discuss the Verity trailer that dropped this week, as well as a few romance shows recently on our radar. Plus, Sydney has a bone to pick with men in what are typically women-dominated spaces. Thank you for listening and don't forget to leave a rating and review! Rye Lane | A Recent Romcom You May Have Missed
2026/07/31
Happy Friday and welcome back to another episode of Call Me When They Kiss! Today we are reviewing a more recent romcom, but not a brand new release. Rye Lane (starring David Jonsson, the new Black Panther) came out in 2023, and is available to watch on Hulu/Disney+. This movie is similar to Before Sunrise in the sense that it is mostly walking and talking, but it is definitely more of a comedy. Yas and Dom meet through mutual friends after both going through rough breakups. They spend the day walking through London (including Rye Lane Market), grappling with the demise of their previous relationships, getting themselves into a few hijinks, and yes, falling in love. 3 Before we dive into the discussion of the movie, we also share our thoughts on the Hadestown proshot and our plans for a Beach Read-themed girls' trip next year! Keep an eye on our socials @callmewhentheykiss for our August schedule that will be going up in the next day or two! But we can reveal that next Friday's episode, we will FINALLY be covering How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days!!
