#05 - Dr. Jessica Shepherd & Lucy Goff - LYMA - The Science of Youth Series
2026/08/30
On this latest episode of the Science of Youth, Lucy Goff sits down with Dr Jessica Shepherd, board certified OB/GYN, founder of Sanctum Med and Wellness, and author of Generation M. She is one of the most recognised voices in women's health in the United States, a regular on Good Morning America and The Today Show, and featured in Vogue, Forbes and Essence. She is also navigating perimenopause herself, which means she is living the science she practises.
Most longevity advice was not designed for women. The training protocols, the nutrition guidance, the trial data underneath both: much of it was built on male physiology and handed to women without adjustment. Cardio for her, weights for him. Dr Shepherd's view is that midlife is exactly the wrong moment to keep accepting that.
And menopause is not the loss of a cycle. It is a whole body event: brain, bone, heart, gut, muscle, skin. Most women are given one benchmark, the missing period, and everything else goes unexamined.
In this episode, they explore:
- The single benchmark women are handed, and how much it hides
- Cardio for women and weights for men, and why that split had it backwards
- Muscle as an organ, and why midlife is when it needs defending
- Why heart health should be shaping midlife advice for women far more than it does
- The gut as a window screen, and what changes when the mesh stops being selective
- Why gut health is now being discussed alongside cognition rather than just digestion
- Prebiotic fibre length, and why the colon is not one destination but several
- Skin as a readout of what is happening internally, and why topicals only take you so far
- Teenage breakouts at 50, and the hormone shift sitting behind them
- The twenty years after 55 when the body adapts without hormones, and what happens when adaptation runs out
- Why the decline that shows up in the mid 70s is decided decades earlier
- Peptides, the safety data that does not exist yet, and what risk actually means
- Why staying curious is the most useful habit in a field moving this fast
- Identity beyond marriage and children, and what a power era actually asks of you
Lucy's own route into this was not hot flushes. It was a gynaecologist who raised HRT for cardiovascular reasons and a family history she had never connected to menopause at all.
This is the conversation behind LYMA ID². A gut formulation of multi-length prebiotic fibres, a micronutrient complex, and omega 3 with polyphenols.
Dr Shepherd's argument is that the fluctuation years are the opening, not the emergency. Patients turning things around in their 60s. Small changes made at 50 that the body thanks you for at 70.
The 50s are not a consolation decade. They are the last easy window on the thirty years after.

#04 - Kayla Barnes-Lentz & Lucy Goff - LYMA - The Science of Youth Series
2026/08/12
On this latest episode of the Science of Youth, Lucy Goff sits down with Kayla Barnes, one of the world's leading female longevity experts, co-founder of a pioneering longevity clinic, and the most publicly measured woman in the world. This is a conversation that goes where most longevity doctors won't.
For too long, the science of ageing has been built on male biology. Kayla is changing that. In this episode, she dismantles the protocols that don't work for women, explains why ovarian health is the most underestimated variable in female longevity, and shares what her own data, collected obsessively over more than a decade, has revealed about what actually moves the needle.
In this episode, they explore:
Why women were excluded from clinical trials until 1993, and why it still mattersOvarian ageing and hormonal health as the foundations most longevity protocols ignoreWhat Kayla discovered when she became the first woman to measure her ovarian age using AIPlasma pheresis: removing and replacing blood plasma to reduce toxic load, and why she did it twiceThe hidden result showing up repeatedly in women's labs that mainstream medicine isn't discussingWhy the skin industry's reliance on controlled damage is the wrong model entirelyThe three interventions Kayla would keep if she had to strip her entire protocol backWhat has to happen scientifically for living to 150 to become realistic
Kayla's biological age is 11 years younger than her chronological age. She is 35. This episode explains how, and more importantly, what it means for every woman who wants to take control of her biology before decline becomes the story.
Ageing is not a fixed trajectory. It is a series of decisions made with or without data.

#03 - Dave Asprey & Lucy Goff - LYMA - The Science of Youth Series - Part 2
2026/02/26
In Part 2 of this powerful conversation, Lucy Goff and Dave Asprey go deeper into the mechanics of longevity, performance and cellular control. If Part 1 explored the origin story, this episode explores the execution.
Dave breaks down what it truly takes to upgrade the human body in today’s environment. From light exposure and mitochondrial resilience to nervous system regulation and environmental toxins, this is a masterclass in practical biohacking.
In this episode, they explore:
-How light directly influences cellular energy and ageing
-The role of mitochondria in performance, cognition and skin health
-Why modern environments are accelerating biological decline
-How to build resilience against inflammation and stress
-The future of human optimisation and measurable longevity
-What real anti ageing science looks like beyond trends and marketing
This conversation moves beyond theory and into application. It challenges the idea that ageing is inevitable and replaces it with something far more powerful: agency.
If you want to understand how to actively shape your biology, extend health-span and perform at your highest level, this is essential listening.

#03 - Dave Asprey & Lucy Goff - LYMA - The Science of Youth Series - Part 1
2026/02/19
What happens when the godfather of biohacking meets the science of cellular longevity?
In Part 1 of Episode 3, Lucy Goff sits down with Dave Asprey, founder of Bulletproof, creator of Upgrade Labs, 4x New York Times bestselling author, and one of the most influential voices in the global biohacking movement.
Dave shares the deeply personal story that sparked his transformation, from an overweight, brain fogged Silicon Valley executive with chronic inflammation and multiple surgeries to a pioneer who helped build a sixty billion dollar industry focused on human performance and lifespan.
But this is not just about weight loss.
It is about taking control of your biology.
In this conversation, they explore:
-The breaking point that forced Dave to rethink everything about health
-Why willpower is not the answer to lasting transformation
-The hidden drivers of inflammation, brain fog and premature ageing
-Mitochondria, light and the future of energy medicine
-The real definition of biohacking and why it is misunderstood
-How longevity starts at the cellular level
If you are interested in living longer, performing better and understanding what is truly happening inside your body, this episode is essential viewing.
This is where biology becomes optional and optimisation becomes intentional.
Part 2 coming soon.
