Description
The We Are Woman Podcast is a living, breathing conversation between Bec Sharp, Melissa Moss, and Sara de Clercq. Three women with decades of experience in nervous system-informed practices and psycho-somatic healing. This podcast is an inquiry into what it means to breathe fully, feel deeply, and live embodied. Together, we explore the edges of womanhood, vulnerability, power, intimacy, creativity, and the nervous system. It's an invitation to come home again: to our bodies, to ourselves, and to our sisterhood. A space of remembering who we are beneath the conditioning. Raw. Real. Restored

Alongside Every Disordering Force, Lives an Ordering Force
2026/09/28
In this episode of 𝐖𝐞 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧, we speak with El about how burnout, relationship breakdown, anxiety, depression, and numbness led her into breathwork and nervous system healing.
El shares how FBR, facilitated breath repatterning, helped her move from shutdown and disconnection into greater presence, self-trust, and embodied choice. We discuss how overwhelm can push the nervous system beyond its window of tolerance, why gentle titration matters more than intensity, and how breath, touch, and agency can create real change without force.
Key topics
El’s path into healing through burnout, emotional overwhelm, numbness, and disconnection.Functional freeze, shutdown, and why feeling too much can eventually become feeling nothing at all.How a painful relationship became a catalyst for change, self-reflection, and deeper awareness. Why activating practices like breath of fire can help some people access aliveness, but can also lead to crashing if the system is pushed too far.How FBR supported El by working within her window of tolerance rather than forcing activation. The importance of titration, pace, and meeting each person where they are.Trust, consent, and agency—including the power of saying no to touch and having that choice fully respected.Working with both women and men, and expanding collective healing across gendered experiences. How every disordering force can also be an ordering force, and how hardship can become part of integration and growth.
El specialises in facilitated breath repatterning and also offers coaching, NLP mindset work, and shadow work coaching.

From Temporary Relief to Lasting Capacity
2026/09/21
𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐭𝐨 𝐖𝐞 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧!
In this episode, we explore why so many of us know what we want to say, do, or express, yet still hold back. We trace that gap not to a lack of confidence, but to safety, shame, learned protection, and the nervous system.
Together, we look at how expression shows up through voice, movement, body image, boundaries, and everyday self-editing, and why true expression can’t be forced. Instead, it emerges when the body feels safe enough to allow it.
Key topics

The Nervous System Beneath Your Self-Expression
2026/09/14
𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐖𝐞 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧!
Today, Sara and Bec open season two by sharing major life changes, including Sara’s move from Byron to the Netherlands and Bec’s family move into Byron Hinterland.
They frame the season around a central question: why do we so often know what we want to say, yet struggle to actually say it?
This conversation sets up the season’s focus on expression through breath, body, voice, boundaries, creativity, and the space between inner truth and outer action. It matters because the episode connects everyday change with deeper self-honesty, capacity, and embodied communication.
𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞'𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝:
Following the whispers of some big change.Reflecting on a shared theme of honouring nudges, even when the changes feel big, uncertain, or disruptive. We explain that Mel has stepped back from the podcast because she recognised she was over capacity, and they honour that decision as part of the season’s wider theme.Season two will focus on expression, especially the gap between knowing something internally and being able to express it outwardly. We expand expression beyond speech to include clothing, creative work, saying no, setting boundaries, parenting, and even the birthing of a child as creative expression.Bec describes the “liminal space” between endings and beginnings as something most people rush through, even though it can be a sacred and useful period.Sara reflects on resisting change versus swimming with it, and how life can feel more aligned once the actual decision is made.Bec shares that her edge around expression includes using her voice loudly and experiencing anger more openly and safely. We discuss FBR breathwork as a way to access and work with the edges of expression in the body, especially around emotions like anger. We invite listeners to reflect on where they feel most free in their expression, where their edges are, and what the season should explore next.

The Space Between Seasons
2026/06/01
An honest conversation about what stayed with us, what surprised us, and what we're taking into Season 2.
This week we're doing something a little different.
Instead of diving into a new topic, the three of us sat down for a relaxed conversation to reflect on Season 1. Over a cup of tea and a chat, we looked back on the conversations that stayed with us, the themes that kept resurfacing, the insights we didn't expect, and what it's been like creating this podcast together.
We talk about some of our favourite moments from the season, the topics that challenged us personally, and the conversations that continue to ripple through our own lives, relationships, and work. It's an honest reflection on what we've learned along the way and what surprised us most about sharing these conversations so publicly.
We also share a little about what's ahead in Season 2, where we'll be exploring expression through the lens of voice, movement, creativity, sensuality, breath, and the nervous system. If you've been listening along this season, thank you for being part of these conversations. We hope you'll join us as we step into the next chapter.
We'll be taking a short break before returning in July with Season 2.
In the meantime, we'd love to stay connected. If something from this season has resonated with you, or you're curious about any of the work we speak about on the podcast, you can reach out to any of us through the links below. Whether it's breathwork, psychotherapy, coaching, circles, or simply following along with what we're sharing, we'd love to hear from you.

Touch, Breath & Being Held
2026/05/25
This episode of We Are Woman is a conversation about nervous system safety, human connection, and the deeper role of touch in FBR Breathwork.
Today, Mel and Sara explore touch, both within FBR Breathwork and as something deeply human. Touch exists so naturally in our lives that we often don’t stop to think about it. The way we hold a child when they cry, place a hand on someone when they’re hurting, or instinctively reach toward ourselves in moments of overwhelm. There is something profoundly relational and regulating about touch, and in this episode we slow down enough to really feel into why that might be.
We speak about touch in the context of Facilitated Breath Repatterning breathwork, where touch becomes part of the language of the work. Not something added on, but a way of bringing awareness to the body, supporting the nervous system, and helping people notice where they may be holding, bracing, or protecting. We explore how touch can soothe, soften, ground, and support, but also how it can reveal the places that still don’t quite feel safe yet. And importantly, we speak to the nuance that every body receives touch differently, and that all of those responses are valid.
This conversation also opens into the broader ways many of us have become disconnected from safe, nurturing, non-demanding touch in modern life. We reflect on what happens when touch becomes rushed, performative, or absent altogether, and why being gently met by another regulated human can feel so profound. More than anything, this episode is an invitation to become curious about your own relationship with touch, and the ways it may help bring you back into connection with your body, your breath, and yourself.

Creating Ourselves Through Relationship
2026/05/18
In this episode of We Are Woman, Bec sits down with Mishae Bailitis, a psychotherapist with a Master's in Gestalt Psychotherapy, trained in sensorimotor psychotherapy and the Gottman couples therapy method.
Bec has had the privilege of witnessing Mishae's work firsthand, and what struck her is his rare ability to hold space for really deep, complex pain while also making room for lightness, humour, and humanity. That balance is something I think we all need more of.
In our conversation, we discuss relational trauma, the body as conductor, why insight alone often isn't enough to create change, and what it really means to move through the world in connection with others.
If you'd like to connect with Mishae or explore working with him, you can find him at somatictherapybyron.com.au.

The Good Girl
2026/05/11
There’s a version of womanhood many of us learned very early in life — the good girl. The one who is polite, responsible, helpful, and easy to be around. The one who tries to get things right, doesn’t cause trouble, and quietly carries what’s needed. For many of us, being that girl meant being liked, accepted, and safe. And so, over time, it becomes something we carry with us into adulthood.
In this conversation, Bec and Mel explore where this pattern comes from and how it can begin to shape the way we move through the world. From perfectionism and pressure, to people-pleasing and the quiet habit of putting others first, we reflect on the cost of always trying to be “good.” And yet, we also hold the nuance because the qualities underneath this pattern are often deeply human ones: care, empathy, responsibility, and kindness.
This episode isn’t about rejecting those parts of ourselves, but about softening the pressure around them. It’s about moving beyond both compliance and rebellion, and toward something more integrated where we can still care, still show up, and still be responsible, but from a place of choice rather than conditioning. A gentle invitation to meet the part of you that learned to be “good” with compassion, and to begin loosening the rules she’s been living by.

Love Letters to The Universe
2026/05/04
This conversation with Vanessa Forbes moves beyond music as something we simply listen to… and into music as something we feel, something that meets us, and something that can open parts of us we may not have had access to before.
Vanessa is a musician and space holder whose work sits at the intersection of sound, healing, and expression. What unfolds in this conversation is less about technique or performance, and more about what it takes to let something move through you.
We explore the tension so many of us live in — between force and surrender, between trying to create something and allowing it to emerge.
There’s also a deeper thread here around safety. What it actually means to feel at home in your body. And how that sense of safety shapes the way we express, create, and relate to life.
This conversation gently opens into:
creativity as something that moves through us, not from usThe role of surrender in both art and healingMusic as a pathway for emotional release and reintegrationThe intelligence of timing — and trusting when something is ready to be feltThe balance between structure and letting goWhat it means to be held, and to allow ourselves to receiveListen to Vanessa's new single Speak Your Truth out now on Spotify and all platforms.

Relaxed Intensity with Dan Kurlapski
2026/04/27
In this conversation, we sit down with Dan Kurlapski, co-founder of Breathwork Byron and, Yes& Conscious Leadership. Dan’s work is grounded in a deep belief in thriving humans, in our capacity to meet life fully, and to live with more presence, range, and potential. Together, we explore the different ways we meet life - through doing, striving, bracing, or sometimes finding it hard to move at all - and how these patterns are often shaped by what is happening beneath the surface.
We explore how, for many of us, doing can become a form of regulation. Movement can feel like safety, while stillness can feel unfamiliar or even uncomfortable. And for others, it can be the opposite, where stillness feels more familiar, and accessing movement or activation can be the challenge. Over time, these patterns shape how we respond to life. Dan brings a grounded and practical perspective to this, helping us see how these tendencies live in the body, and how breath can begin to create space between us and the ways we’ve learned to cope.
This conversation opens up a different way of relating to life by expanding our capacity to meet what’s here. Whether that’s activation or stillness, anger, sadness, fear, or even joy, love, and expansion. Relaxed intensity isn’t about controlling your state, but about having the capacity to be with whatever arises. To move when it’s time to move, to rest when it’s time to rest, and not need either one to define you. There is something deeply grounding in this, becoming more available to your full experience. More capacity. More presence. More range. And as you move through your day, perhaps there’s a gentle place to notice… where am I pushing? Where am I avoiding? And what might it feel like to meet this moment with a little more ease?

The Return of the Sisterhood
2026/04/20
In this episode of We Are Woman, we explore the idea of sisterhood and what becomes possible when women support one another instead of feeling like we are competing. Through conversation and gentle reflection, we look at how many of us have experienced both sides of this dynamic - the beauty of being uplifted and held by another woman, and the moments where comparison, judgment, or old wounds can quietly surface between us.
We speak honestly about where some of these patterns can begin, often tracing back to early experiences in childhood, and how they can shape the way we relate to other women as adults. Inspired by the wisdom of nature, we reflect on the idea that flourishing rarely happens in isolation. Like ecosystems, we too tend to grow and thrive through connection, encouragement, and shared support.
This conversation gently points toward collaboration as the deeper invitation. It opens space for greater awareness and compassion for ourselves and for the other women walking beside us, recognising that we are all navigating our own histories as we learn what it means to truly stand together. Bec closes the episode with a series of thoughtful journal prompts to help you reflect on your own experiences and consider how you might cultivate more openness, support, and connection with the women around you.

Where Nourishment Becomes Safety
2026/04/13
Food has become confusing.
We’re constantly being told what to eat, what to avoid, and how to optimise our health, yet many of us feel more disconnected than ever. In this episode, we sit down with Amanda Powell, a nutritionist specialising in body composition, gut health and thyroid health, as well as GI mapping, food intolerance and functional testing, to explore what’s really going on beneath the noise. From the impact of stress and the nervous system to the subtle ways we override our body’s signals, this conversation is an invitation to simplify and come back to what actually matters.
We also unpack the quiet reward/punishment cycle so many women find themselves in with food. Being “good” during the week, then letting go and feeling like we need to earn what we eat or make up for it later. Not in extreme ways, but in the subtle, everyday patterns that shape how we relate to ourselves. Amanda brings a grounded, refreshing perspective on why this cycle isn’t really about food at all, but about control, guilt, and disconnection, and what it might look like to step out of that dynamic and into a more intuitive, supportive relationship with eating.
And for those navigating this as mothers, we touch on the question many of us carry - what are we passing on to our children? Because kids don’t just learn what to eat, they learn how to feel about food. Together, we explore how we can model a more balanced, intuitive relationship; not through perfection, but through awareness, presence, and a deeper connection to our own bodies.

The Beauty of Burning: Where Shadow Meets Rebirth
2026/04/06
In this week’s episode, we explore what shadow death really is. A deeply human process of shedding. The seasons where something that once fit no longer does. The identities, roles, and ways of operating that quietly begin to soften. We speak to how this can feel dark, disorienting, even tender at times, and how that darkness does not mean something is wrong. It can simply mean something is changing.
We share what shadow death has felt like in our own bodies and lives in the grief, the uncertainty, the humility of letting something fall away. Simultaneously we also recognise that every woman’s experience will look different. This is not about blowing up your life or reinventing yourself overnight. It is an intentional process of re-remembering. A death and a growth unfolding at the same time. The quiet unraveling of what no longer feels true, and the slow emergence of something more aligned.
We also speak to how FBR breathwork can support this in-between space. Not by rushing the rise, but by helping us stay with what is surfacing: the grief, the anger, the softness, the unknown. Breath becomes the anchor. The internal holding. The place we can return to while something old dissolves and something new begins to form. We begin in the darkness and gently move toward the love and light that often follows when we allow ourselves to evolve.

Follow The Whispers
2026/03/30
This week’s conversation feels like a return to something ancient, familiar, and deeply needed. A space where women gather in honesty, in reflection, and in remembrance. Where stories are shared as lived experience. This is the essence of sitting in circle, and it’s exactly what unfolds here as we sit with Emma Yeadon
Specialising in FBR Breathwork, Nervous System Regulation and Cacao Ceremony, Emma creates a container for profound healing and discovery.
Emma shares her journey through a season of change that led her to Bali, and what unfolded from there. Together, we explore what it means to come home to yourself through embodiment, through breath, and through the integration of both the feminine and masculine within. We speak to the shifts that happen not just in the mind, but in the body, and how this work can gently reshape the way we relate to ourselves, to others, and to our own sense of strength and power.
This conversation is a reminder that healing is not about becoming someone new, but about integrating what has always been there. About meeting the parts of ourselves we’ve hidden or hardened, and allowing them to belong. As you listen, you may find something in Emma’s story that resonates within your own; a quiet recognition, a softening, a remembering. And in that, you are part of the circle too.

The Language of Our Body
2026/03/23
In this episode of We Are Woman, we slow things down and explore the practice that quietly underpins so much of what we speak about here — Facilitated Breath Repatterning. We share what this work is, how we’ve come to it, and why it has become such a foundational part of how we understand ourselves and move through the world.
We speak to FBR as a practice that meets the body with safety rather than force. A way of listening to the body and hearing what it has to say in all its wisdom. We explore how the breath reflects our stress, our history, and our adaptations and what can begin to shift when the body is given the space to respond in its own time, without pressure or expectation.
This conversation offers a different perspective on breathwork. One that doesn’t chase intensity or outcomes, but instead centres safety, awareness, and integration. It’s a gentle invitation to notice your own breath. Not to change it, but to become more aware of the choice within it, and what becomes possible when listening replaces effort.
A note before you listen.
This episode touches on psychedelic-assisted therapy as part of Beck's professional background and personal journey into breathwork.
We want to be clear — we don't condone the improper or recreational use of psychedelics. This is an emerging therapeutic field that requires trained professionals and appropriate clinical oversight.
If you're curious about whether psychedelic-assisted therapy might be right for you, you may reach out to Bec who can support you with access to a qualified mental health professional, or alternatively, speak with your own qualified mental health professional of choice.

The Nervous System and the Lost Art of Real Rest
2026/03/16
In this week’s episode, we explore the nervous system as the quiet system shaping our energy, pace, and experience of the world each day. There’s so much content out there on the “nervous system” but we speak to what it actually feels like to move through life in a body that is often “on,” and how many of us were navigating activation long before we had language for it. We touch lightly on the science - sympathetic, parasympathetic, what real rest looks like - while keeping the conversation anchored in lived experience.
We share personal reflections, from sustained activation through things like coffee and constant stimulation, to the quiet realisation that scrolling or watching Netflix does not always equal true settling. We explore the difference between mental distraction and physiological rest, and how the body often speaks long before the mind understands why. This is an honest conversation about energy, sensation, and learning to recognise when we are actually safe enough to soften.
We also gently weave in the role of breath as a way of listening to it. For us, breathwork has been one pathway into experiencing regulation and deep rest, rather than trying to think our way there. If you have ever felt wired but tired, calm on the surface yet braced underneath, this conversation will meet you exactly there.
