Stephen A. Smith: FIRST TAKE, WRONG TAKE—D.L.’s Had ENOUGH!
2026/10/15
Stephen A. Smith has another take. D.L. Hughley has had ENOUGH. After Stephen A.’s comments about Lane Johnson’s mental health, D.L. asks: When does “speaking your mind” become talking out of your ass?
On Episode 52 of D.L. Hughley’s Uncertain, Stephen A.’s microphone stays hot—and so does the backlash. From athletes’ mental health to his commentary on Black women and politics, D.L. takes aim at a bigger problem: a culture that rewards the loudest opinion, regardless of how informed it is.
Is Stephen A. saying what he believes—or has controversy become the business model? And when the apology comes, what actually changes?
Then, D.L. revisits the Da’Vinchi slavery conversation with a history lesson America keeps trying to skip. Slavery ended. Jim Crow, redlining, racial violence and discrimination didn’t disappear with it. As D.L. puts it: “Slavery might’ve ended, but racism was working a double shift!”
Plus, an Arkansas Medicaid ad features a white man as the face of government assistance—and some conservative critics have a problem with the casting. D.L. goes straight at the racial double standard behind who gets called “lazy” and who gets called “struggling.”
Sharp comedy. Uncomfortable questions. And plenty of people who should’ve thought before they hit record.
YOUR TURN: Does Stephen A. owe audiences more accountability—or is the outrage exactly what keeps people watching? Drop your take below.

Ben Crump’s Next Move: New Evidence in Nolan Wells’ Death | D.L. Hughley
2026/10/02
Ben Crump brings new evidence in the Nolan Wells case—and D.L. Hughley has one question: HOW MANY ANSWERS DOES THIS FAMILY HAVE TO FIND THEMSELVES?
New cellphone findings. Unanswered autopsy questions. A family still fighting to understand how their son died. In Episode 48 of UNCERTAIN, D.L. takes on the evidence presented by Ben Crump’s team—and challenges whether authorities have done enough to get to the truth.
For D.L., this goes beyond one investigation: What happens when a grieving family has to keep pushing the very system responsible for finding answers?
“These cases don’t feel unsolved. They feel unprioritized.”
Then D.L. turns to Brandon Tatum’s commentary about Nolan Wells, his “dry drowning” explanation, and his clash with Terrell Owens. If you’re making claims about somebody’s dead child, D.L. wants to know what you can actually back up.
From Mississippi to Cornell University, the question gets bigger: WHO GETS THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT—AND WHO HAS TO BEG TO BE BELIEVED?
D.L. weighs in on the reopened investigation into an alleged sexual assault involving Cornell fraternity members and Sunny Hostin’s controversial comments about the case. “Good family.” “Bright future.” “So much potential.” He challenges why those words keep becoming part of the conversation when privileged young men face serious allegations.
Why does a defendant’s future matter so much after someone else says theirs has already been harmed?
Plus: the Tasia Fortune arrest update, judges who give second chances.
And stay tuned to see DL and the teams talk about the online criticism of Jasmine Guy’s appearance that sparks a conversation about aging, beauty, and how women get judged. Whew!!!

What happens when an artist says “Free Palestine” on one of the biggest stages in America?
2026/10/02
Macklemore was dropped from Ed Sheeran’s tour—and then every remaining supporting act walked away. Ed says it was the promoters. Macklemore points to billionaire Patriots owner Robert Kraft and powerful venue owners. D.L. Hughley follows the money, the pressure and the excuses to ask the question nobody wants to answer: When billionaires control the buildings, do they also get to control who speaks?
Then D.L. turns to the Lindsay Clancy mistrial, where one Black juror refused to join the other 11 jurors prepared to acquit the Massachusetts mother accused of killing her three children. Why did the juror face more scrutiny than the woman on trial? And how did sympathy for Clancy grow so large that three dead children nearly disappeared from the conversation?
D.L. also reveals how his public feud with Killer Mike finally ended—and why two outspoken Black men choosing reconciliation may be one of the episode’s most important moments.
This episode is about courage, accountability and the people who refuse to surrender their judgment just because everyone else in the room has already agreed.
Who showed more courage: Macklemore, the artists who walked away—or the lone juror who refused to bend?
Watch, comment and subscribe to UNCERTAIN with D.L. Hughley. Because silence may protect your position—but it rarely protects the truth.

LINDSAY CLANCY: WHO GETS MERCY WHEN A MOTHER KILLS?
2026/09/11
Lindsey Clancy admitted to killing her three children. Her trial ended without a verdict after 11 jurors reportedly believed she should be found not criminally responsible because of mental illness.
Now women across the country are rallying around her—seeing a mother failed by the mental-health system rather than simply a defendant accused of an unthinkable crime.
But D.L. Hughley asks the question America cannot keep avoiding: Would a Black mother receive this same compassion?
Latarsha Sanders, a Black Massachusetts mother with documented paranoia and schizophrenia, was convicted of killing her two sons and sentenced to two life terms without parole. Her convictions were later overturned after the state’s highest court ruled that crucial mental-health records had been wrongly withheld from her jury. Remarkably, both cases came before the same judge.
This is not about excusing either tragedy. Five children are dead, and their lives cannot disappear beneath sympathy for the adults. This is about whether race influences which mothers are viewed as sick, which are branded monsters, and whose mental illness the justice system takes seriously.
D.L. also weighs in on Stephen A. Smith’s explosive fallout after appearing on Jemele Hill and Cari Champion’s podcast. Stephen built a career challenging everyone else—but when Black women challenged him, he accused them of mishandling the interview and demanded the unedited footage. You can’t start the fire and then file an insurance claim.
Finally, as America marks 25 years since September 11, D.L. honors the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the first responders who ran toward danger, and the survivors and families still living with the consequences. Newly released records also raise painful questions about what officials knew concerning the toxic air around Ground Zero—and why the truth took decades to surface.
Who receives compassion? Who receives accountability? And whose suffering does America decide matters?
Watch, share, and subscribe to Uncertain with D.L. Hughley—because criticism isn’t persecution, compassion shouldn’t depend on color, and remembrance without truth is incomplete.

PROJECT 2025 IS HERE—AND TRUMP VOTERS ARE LOSING HEALTHCARE!
2026/09/08
In Episode 41 of Uncertain, D.L. Hughley connects the dots between Medicaid cuts threatening working families, Louisiana criminalizing homelessness, attacks on public education, and politicians using culture wars to distract voters from policies hurting their own communities.
This isn’t just politics. It’s healthcare disappearing, poverty becoming a crime, and vulnerable Americans paying the price while the powerful call it “reform.”
Was Project 2025 a warning—or the blueprint America is now living through?

DL Hughley Exposes the Business of Attacking Black Women
2026/09/08
Why has attacking Black women become everybody’s favorite pastime?
Laura Loomer launched a racist tirade against Angie Nixon, Ketanji Brown Jackson, and other powerful Black women. Brandon Tatum went after Michelle Obama’s appearance—and dragged DL Hughley’s wife into it. Different messengers. Same tired target.
DL breaks down the ugly pattern behind these attacks: Black women are mocked when they speak, degraded when they lead and judged when they refuse to make themselves smaller. This isn’t political debate. It’s racism, misogyny and manufactured outrage dressed up as “free speech”—because disrespecting Black women still generates clicks, influence and money.
DL also examines the tragic death of Haitian college student Pierre Damas Bel after he was forced to wear an ICE ankle monitor, the disturbing string of suspicious hanging deaths across America, Ryan Clark turning an ESPN exit into a major Netflix win—and Hunter Biden’s latest interview that leaves one unavoidable question: What was in that pipe?
This episode is fearless, personal, and unapologetic. Watch to the end, tell us where you stand and subscribe to Uncertain for the conversations other shows are afraid to have.

TARGET, KEEP YOUR APOLOGY!
2026/08/31
Black women warned Target. We organized. We boycotted. We took our money elsewhere. Target still refused to hear us—and now the same company that gutted DEI somehow approved a children’s costume evoking blackface and minstrel imagery.
That wasn’t one person’s “mistake.” That costume passed through design, marketing, photography, merchandising, legal and corporate approval—and apparently nobody in the room had the courage or cultural awareness to say, “What the hell is this?”
Target says it’s sorry. Viola Davis isn’t accepting the apology—and DL Hughley isn’t buying it either. Because when Black women tell a corporation it has abandoned us, why does it take public humiliation before anybody pays attention?
DL also goes in on Hakeem Jeffries’ secret meeting with Jared Kushner, Black and Brown communities abandoned without power, America’s reckless trade war with Canada, dangerous food recalls and surveillance cameras that always seem to see Black people—but never protect us.
This episode asks one brutal question: How many times must Black people prove we matter before America starts acting like it?
Watch Episode 39 of UNCERTAIN with DL Hughley. Subscribe, share and join the conversation—because Target may not be listening, but we’re going to make damn sure they hear us.

BRANDON TATUM CAME FOR MICHELLE OBAMA—DL HUGHLEY SMOKED HIM!
2026/08/31
Brandon Tatum called Michelle Obama ugly—and DL Hughley is about to give him all the smoke and show him what ugly really looks like: desperation, hypocrisy, and begging for white approval in public.
In Episode 38 of Uncertain, DL tears into Tatum’s obsession with attacking Black people for applause, then turns to Stephen A. Smith, who says his critics still haven’t produced the “receipts.” Oh, the receipts exist. The question is whether Stephen A. is finally ready to read them.
But the outrage machine doesn’t stop there. MAGA wants America terrified of transgender athletes while families can’t afford groceries, healthcare or damn near a hot dog. Enes Kanter Freedom gets thrown out of a WNBA game after provoking Natasha Cloud—and somehow a man with a reported $500,000 bounty on his head decided this was the fight worth having.
Then Zohran Mamdani funds children, protects workers, goes after bad landlords and invests in struggling communities—leaving DL to ask the question Christian politicians won’t like: Why is a Muslim mayor doing a better job of following Jesus than they are?
Plus, Abdul El-Sayed confronts Jesse Watters over manufactured culture wars, Hunter Biden sounds off on war, and DL exposes the oldest political hustle in America: keep people angry about imaginary threats so they never notice who is picking their pockets.
This episode is ruthless, hilarious and guaranteed to offend exactly the right people.
Watch now, drop your verdict in the comments and subscribe to Uncertain with DL Hughley—where fake outrage gets exposed and nobody gets a pass.

HEY TRUMP VOTERS… HAPPY NOW?
2026/08/26
The military is dealing with turmoil. ICE keeps pushing the limits. The DOJ is facing questions over wrongful investigations. Public-health concerns are resurfacing. Thousands of Ethiopians could lose deportation protections. And overseas, Iran and the Strait of Hormuz are adding another potentially explosive problem to the pile.
This week on UNCERTAIN, DL Hughley looks at the growing trail of Trump administration controversies and asks a simple question:
At what point does “winning” start looking a whole lot like losing?
Trump sold America strength, order and control. DL takes a hard look at what America actually got—and why some of the people who bought into the promise may now be living with the consequences.
And DL speaks about the possibility of sitting down with Killer Mike to have a bigger conversation about Black America: Can we disagree politically without questioning whether the other person loves our people?
Trump promised strength. America got chaos. And DL has receipts.

DL Hughley Calls BS On Stephen A. Smith's Outrage!
2026/08/21
Stephen A. Smith is furious after the NABJ called out what it says is his recurring pattern of disparaging prominent Black women. But DL has a question: Where was all this smoke when Donald Trump came for YOU?
And Stephen A. running to Sean Hannity to complain about Black journalists? Oh, DL has something to say about THAT.
From Serena Williams, Kamala Harris, Jasmine Crockett and Joy Reid to his battles with Black athletes and HBCU supporters, DL looks at the pattern behind the controversy—and asks whether Stephen A. has confused being loud with being right.
Then somehow Candace Owens starts making sense while battling Andrew Wilson over the Charlie Kirk case. Yes. We know. Hell may need a coat.
And finally, the laughs stop. After 29-year-old Tasia Fortune was found hanging outside an abandoned house in Mississippi, DL asks why Black Americans are repeatedly told not to jump to conclusions when history gives them every reason to demand answers. Authorities had not classified Fortune's death as suspicious at the time of the rundown, and an autopsy was pending.

Lindsey Graham Did More for Who?
2026/07/16
This week on Uncertain, DL Hughley opens the mailbag — and then closes the beaches. After the death of Nolan Wells on Horn Island and a summer of Black men turning up in trees and rivers with "no foul play suspected," DL makes the case nobody wants to say out loud: part of Jim Crow had a point. Marriage? Fine. Family reunions? Fine. But no swimming, no camping, no hiking — because we never lose white people, and there’s a reason for that. From the mother who had to track down her own son’s phone, to officials who "don’t want to be rushed," DL, Jasmine and Austin ask why there’s never a sense of urgency when Black children don’t come home.
Then it’s ICE killing a man in Maine who wasn’t even the target of the warrant — no body cams, no accountability, and a batting average that would get anybody else fired; Amy Coney Barrett wanting a bulletproof vest in the country her Court armed ("you made guns easier to buy than Sudafed"); Mitch McConnell missing so long DL can’t tell if he’s dead or alive — with the finest insurance in the world, the kind he spent his career denying you; and Lindsey Graham’s eulogy problem: to eulogize means to speak well of — of what? DL closes with the World Cup, why every great team in Europe is stocked with the descendants of the colonized, why the road to the World Cup final runs through the Blackest city in America, and a shanked golf shot hit on purpose — for Charlie’s boy, on the eighth anniversary of his old man’s passing.

Weekend at Mitch's — Somebody Check on Mitch McConnell
2026/07/09
America turned 250 and celebrated the only way it knows how: a few hundred masked white nationalists riding the Metro to the Capitol. DL breaks down white supremacy on a budget — racists take the train too — why you can't tell the Patriot Front from the ICE agents (they shop at the same store, and they mask up for the same reason), and the cosmic karma of MAGA families sheltering from the storm inside the Black History Museum. Then the question nobody at the White House would answer: on the nation's birthday, white nationalists marched on the Capitol — and the only people who won't denounce white supremacists are white supremacists. Plus Michael Dell's wife hits the White House, and DL learns what the "Lago look" is.
Then it's the World Cup: Trump personally called FIFA and got Folarin Balogun's red card lifted — for the first time in 60 years — to save a striker who only exists because of the birthright citizenship he's trying to abolish. He fought to remove a red card for a man he wouldn't give a green card. From there: Trump's golden eagle and the Nazi bird it looks suspiciously like, Marco Rubio's big shoes, Graham Platner, Susan Collins, and the party that hates socialists more than it hates rapists. DL asks the question everybody in Kentucky is whispering — is Mitch McConnell having a Weekend at Bernie's? — before getting serious about Nolan Wells, the Mississippi teenager who went out on a boat with his white classmates and never came home, Kohen Wiley, and Marcellus Wiley's Fourth of July arrest. DL closes with the question his father asked him outside a liquor store on Imperial and Avalon — the same one he's asking America now: Aren't you tired?

Clarence Thomas Is the Stephen A. Smith of the Supreme Court
2026/07/02
DL is back and nobody is safe — not the Black Trump supporter who cornered him at a Chicago bus stop (and missed his bus AND the point), not Clarence Thomas, who DL calls “the Stephen A. Smith of the Supreme Court” after his 91-page dissent in the birthright citizenship ruling, and definitely not Megyn Kelly, who claims “we built this country” when her family didn’t clear customs until the party was over. As the Supreme Court hands down its 6-3 decision on the 14th Amendment, DL flips the script: if we’re closing the gate, let’s close it at 1868 — which means Stephen Miller, Vivek Ramaswamy, Brett Kavanaugh, and half of MAGA’s loudest voices are packing their bags. Then it’s on to the Court’s trans athlete ruling, JD Vance getting glazed on Bill Maher, Stephen A. Smith toasting Maher at his Mark Twain Prize like one professional you-know-what to another, and Mamdani putting every mayor in America to shame while the Knicks bring a title back to New York for the first time in 53 years. Plus: DL falls asleep everywhere but on the issues.

Austin Metcalf's Dad Says Black Jurors Can't Be Fair — DL Hughley Isn't Having It
2026/06/25
In this episode of Uncertain, DL Hughley opens on a president who started a war but can't clean a pool — the vandalized reflecting pool, the peroxide, and what it says that the country swearing it can beat Iran can't beat algae — before getting into the "two Americas" gap between the detective who called DL back about a storage locker and the bank fraud nobody ever called Alex about. From there DL, Jasmine, and Alex take on Jeff Metcalf's post-verdict media tour and the racial double standard buried in jury selection: the claim that only one kind of person can be fair, the preemptive strikes used overwhelmingly against Black jurors, and the long roll call — Fanny Willis, Letitia James, Sunny Hostin, the Black judge in the Botham Jean case — that proves Black America has never had a problem meting out justice to its own. DL breaks down the CDC data that buries the absent-father myth, then turns to the bigger question on the week America turns 250: Eddie Glaude saying out loud that he doesn't love this country, the Fourth of July lie we all agree to tell each other, and what it means to love something the way you'd love an abusive parent — the only one you've got. Then it's Bill Maher calling the Obama library a "monument to arrogance," and DL explaining why, in an era of erasure, that building might be the only proof this man ever existed — and why Black people are, in fact, going to hike.

"Where the Black Fathers At?" They're Winning Championships
2026/06/18
In this episode of Uncertain, DL Hughley spends Father's Day making the case nobody wants to hear: every time somebody asks "where are the Black fathers at," the answer is Jalen Brunson winning a Knicks championship with his own father right beside him. From Jeff Metcalf's comments about Black dads to Boomer Esiason and the "respect the office" crowd, the Karmelo Anthony verdict and what "stand your ground" was really built for, a one-year-old shot by police in Mississippi over diapers, ICE policing the World Cup, Tony Hinchcliffe, Stephen Miller, and an honest conversation about Black and Jewish solidarity — DL, Jasmine, and Alex break it all down.
Then DL gets to the throughline: America started a war with Iran, walked away holding the bill while everybody else took the money, and still found time to remind us whose humanity counts. Same question every time — why couldn't you just mind your business?
