70 | What Are You Speaking Over Your Life? 3 Ways Your Words Can Fight Anxious Thoughts
2026/10/01
Do you catch yourself saying, “Something bad is going to happen” before anything has even happened? Does one little thing—your child coughing, your husband not answering his phone, or a packed week ahead—send your mind straight into the worst-case scenario? Do you want to stop letting the what-ifs run your thoughts and learn how to trust God even when you don’t know what happens next? In this episode, we’re talking about the words we speak when we’re anxious and how those words can either reinforce the fear we’re already feeling or help us come back to what is actually true. I’m sharing a recent moment when my own mom anxiety had me living five steps into a future that hadn’t happened yet. We’ll also look at what Scripture says about our words and thoughts, plus some of the psychology behind why naming our fears and challenging our first anxious interpretation can be so helpful. It’s about recognizing when anxiety is doing the talking and choosing to stand on what God says is true.  In this episode, we talk about: How your words can reinforce the anxious thoughts you’re already rehearsing The difference between acknowledging a real fear and allowing anxiety to predict the future One question to ask yourself when your mind immediately jumps to the worst-case scenario How Philippians 4:8 and Psalm 56:3 can help you come back to what is true How to speak God’s truth and take the next faithful step…even when you still feel anxious Contact Rachel: Email: [email protected] Listen on Apple Podcasts: Faith Over Anxiety for Moms on Apple Podcasts   Become a Faith Over Anxiety Email Insider: bit.ly/faithoveranxietyemails   JOIN THE FREE FACEBOOK COMMUNITY 💜 Come join Anxiety Help for Christian Moms, where we take what we’re learning on the podcast and actually live it out together through Scripture, practical tools, encouragement, and conversations with other Christian moms who get it. 69 | Why Do I Overthink Everything? How Past Wounds Can Fuel Anxiety and Keep Your Mind on High Alert with Beth Steigerwalt
2026/09/29
Do you feel like your brain is constantly scanning for what could go wrong? Do you find yourself overthinking everything—even when you know logically that you’re okay? Have you ever wondered if experiences from your past could be contributing to the anxiety you’re experiencing as a mom today? Mama, sometimes the anxiety we’re experiencing today has roots that go deeper than the situation right in front of us. In this episode, I’m joined by Beth Steigerwalt, host of the globally top 5% podcast Heal Depression with God, Certified Christian Life Coach, writer, mom of five, grandma, childhood trauma survivor, and breast cancer survivor. Beth knows what it’s like to be a worried and anxious mama who feels overwhelmed, depressed, and unsure of her worth. In some of her darkest moments, God met her with His love—and today, she helps Christian women with past trauma and depression grow in confidence in their God-created design and believe that they are deeply loved. We’re talking about the connection between past wounds, anxiety, and overthinking, why your mind may feel like it always has to be prepared for something bad to happen, and what healing can look like when you stop simply trying harder to make the anxiety disappear. If you want to understand what may be happening underneath your anxious thoughts, quiet some of the constant mental noise, feel more present with your family, and experience more of the security that comes from knowing you are loved by God, this conversation is for you. In this episode, we talk about: How past wounds can continue influencing anxiety, fear, and overthinking today Why your mind and body may stay on high alert even when there isn’t an immediate threat Recognizing the lies, shame, and beliefs that can keep you stuck in anxious thought patterns Practical ways to begin healing instead of simply trying harder to stop feeling anxious How God’s love can help you grow in confidence, security, and your God-created identity Connect with Beth Steigerwalt: Listen to Beth’s Podcast: Heal Depression with God Website: bethsteigerwalt.com Email: [email protected] Facebook: Connect with Beth on Facebook LinkedIn: Connect with Beth on LinkedIn Join Beth’s Natural Healing Newsletter: Sign up for the Natural Healing Newsletter Resource Mentioned in This Episode: The Search for Significance by Robert S. Does your brain feel like it never really shuts off because you’re constantly thinking about your kids, your schedule, the house, and everything that needs to get done? Do you want to feel calmer, more present with your family, and closer to God without adding another complicated routine to your already full plate? In this episode, we’re talking about 7 simple daily habits that can help calm your nervous system and draw you closer to God. These are not seven more things you need to do perfectly. They’re realistic rhythms you can work into the life you’re already living—from your morning coffee and school drop-off to dinner, bedtime, and everything in between. We’ll talk about the psychology behind why these habits can help with anxiety, what Scripture says about creating daily rhythms with God, and what these habits actually look like in real mom life. In this episode, we talk about: How starting your morning with God can help you begin the day feeling more grounded instead of immediately reacting to everything around you Why pausing, slowing your breathing, and moving your body can help when you feel anxious, overwhelmed, or overstimulated Practical ways to fit movement into motherhood—even if you only have 10–20 minutes How journaling, brain dumping, and choosing your top three priorities can help reduce the mental load Simple ways to practice gratitude, improve your nighttime wind-down, and stay connected to people who can help carry the load Contact Rachel: Email: [email protected] Listen on Apple Podcasts Become a Faith Over Anxiety Email Insider: SIGN UP HERE! 67 | Can’t Stop Expecting the Worst? How to Calm Anxious Thoughts with Lamentations 3
2026/09/23
Does your mind immediately jump to the worst-case scenario when your child feels sick, your husband doesn’t answer his phone, or something unexpected happens? Do you know God is with you but still struggle to stop rehearsing everything that could go wrong? Are you trying to carry tomorrow’s possible problems with the strength God has given you for today? Mama, anxiety is really good at bringing frightening possibilities to mind—but sometimes our minds need help remembering what is still true about God. In this devotional episode, we’re opening Lamentations 3 and looking at one small but powerful word: yet. You’ll learn how to acknowledge your fear without allowing it to become the only voice you hear. Because hope doesn’t always begin when your circumstances change. Sometimes hope begins when you remember who God is. In this episode, we talk about: Why honestly pouring out your fear to God is not a failure of faith How the word “yet” can become a turning point in an anxiety spiral What God’s new mercies mean when yesterday’s worries still feel heavy Why you don’t need tomorrow’s strength for the day you are living now How to use the four-step “Yet Reset” when your mind expects the worst Contact Rachel: Email: [email protected] Listen on Apple Podcasts: Faith Over Anxiety for Moms on Apple Podcasts Become a Faith Over Anxiety Email Insider: Receive weekly biblical encouragement, simple tools for anxious thoughts, and new episode updates. 66 | Feeling Anxious and Far From God? 3 Spiritual Disciplines to Grow Closer to Him
2026/09/17
Do you love God but still find yourself wondering why you feel so anxious? Are you praying and reading your Bible but still feeling disconnected or far from God? Do you want to grow closer to God, but you're already overwhelmed and don't need another list of things you “should” be doing? Mama, spiritual disciplines aren't about adding more to your Christian to-do list. They're intentional rhythms that create space for you to be with God and allow Him to form you. In this episode, we're breaking spiritual disciplines into three simple groups so you can discover what your relationship with God may need in this season. We'll also talk about why these practices can be especially helpful for an anxious mind...and why the answer may not be doing more for God, but learning how to remain with Him. In this episode, we talk about: ⭐️ What spiritual disciplines actually are—and why they aren't another Christian checklist ⭐️ Spiritual disciplines that help you hear and know God, including Scripture reading, Bible study, meditation, prayer, and journaling ⭐️ How silence, solitude, Sabbath, rest, fasting, and worship can help an overstimulated, anxious mom slow down and be with God ⭐️ Why community, fellowship, confession, service, and generosity are an important part of spiritual formation ⭐️ How to choose ONE spiritual discipline to practice based on where you're feeling spiritually depleted right now Contact Rachel: Email: [email protected] Listen on Apple Podcasts Become a Faith Over Anxiety Email Insider: SIGN UP HERE! 65 | Scared Something Will Happen to Your Child? What My Daughter’s Food Allergy Is Teaching Me About Anxiety and Trusting God
2026/09/14
Do you ever find yourself thinking, “What if something happens to my child?” Do you struggle to know when you’re being a wise, protective mom versus when anxiety is asking you to control every possible outcome? Have you ever prayed for God to change something your child is facing and wondered, “God, why haven’t You taken this away yet?” In this episode, I’m sharing a very real season we’re walking through with my daughter’s severe egg allergy and her recent baked egg challenge. For years, we avoided egg—not only because of the legitimate medical risk, but because an earlier baked egg challenge had been incredibly stressful for both of us. Now, with guidance from her allergist and support from her therapist, we’re slowly taking the next step. And Mama, this process is teaching me so much about anxiety, wisdom, control, and what it actually looks like to trust God when the thing you’re afraid of involves your child. In this episode, we talk about: ⭐️ How to recognize the difference between protecting your child and trying to control every outcome ⭐️ Why anxiety often asks for certainty that motherhood simply cannot give us ⭐️ How having a clear plan can help both you and your child move through fear in smaller, more manageable steps ⭐️ What Jochebed’s story in Exodus 2 teaches us about using wisdom while still surrendering what we cannot control ⭐️ How to keep trusting God—even when you’re still afraid, still waiting, and still praying for Him to change the situation Contact Rachel: Email: [email protected] Listen on Apple Podcasts Become a Faith Over Anxiety Email Insider: SIGN UP HERE! 2026/09/10
Have you ever caught yourself thinking... "Why am I so overwhelmed when I have so much to be grateful for?" Maybe you love your family, know God has been so good to you, and genuinely feel thankful... but you're also exhausted, overstimulated, anxious, and carrying the invisible mental load of motherhood. If you've ever felt guilty for struggling because you think you "should" be more grateful, this episode is for you. Today we're diving into 2 Corinthians 4, where Paul reminds us that we are fragile clay jars carrying the treasure of Christ. God never expected us to be the source of our own strength—His power was always meant to sustain us. We'll also talk about the difference between using gratitude to shame yourself and using gratitude to draw closer to God, plus I'll share a simple three-step practice that's been helping me when anxiety and overwhelm start to rise. In this episode, we talk about: ⭐️ Why being overwhelmed doesn't automatically mean you're ungrateful ⭐️ The biblical meaning of 2 Corinthians 4:7–8 and what it teaches us about God's strength in our weakness ⭐️ Why your nervous system can feel overwhelmed even when you're genuinely thankful ⭐️ The difference between guilt-based gratitude and gratitude that grounds you in God's presence ⭐️ A simple "Both. 63 | Can’t Stop Believing the Lies Anxiety Tells You? How to Use God’s Word to Fight Back
2026/09/07
Does anxiety ever tell you something so many times that you start believing it must be true? Do you find yourself spiraling into thoughts like, Something bad is going to happen to my kids, I can’t handle this, or I need to figure this out right now? What if, instead of arguing with those anxious thoughts or following them down the rabbit hole, you learned how to answer them with what God says is true? In this episode, we’re talking about one of the most powerful tools God has given us when fear and anxious thoughts get loud: His Word. In Ephesians 6, Paul describes the armor of God—and the sword of the Spirit is the Word of God. Then, in Matthew 4, Jesus actually shows us what it looks like to use that sword. Every time the enemy tempted Him with a lie, Jesus responded with Scripture: “The Scriptures say…” Mama, we can learn to do the same thing. In this episode, we talk about: ⭐️ Why God’s Word is called the sword of the Spirit in Ephesians 6 ⭐️ How Jesus responded to Satan’s temptations with Scripture in Matthew 4 ⭐️ How to recognize what anxiety and fear are actually telling you instead of automatically believing every thought ⭐️ How to find a Bible verse that speaks truth against the fear you’re facing ⭐️ How to turn Scripture into a simple prayer you can pray when anxiety starts spiraling Contact Rachel: Email: [email protected] Listen on Apple Podcasts Become a Faith Over Anxiety Email Insider: SIGN UP HERE! 60 | Can’t Stop Worrying After Your Child Gets Hurt? 3 Ways to Calm Mom Anxiety and Trust God
2026/08/27
Has something scary happened to your child, and even after you knew they were okay, your body still felt on high alert? Do you keep replaying what happened and wondering why your anxious brain just won’t let it go? How can you be an attentive mom without letting fear, overthinking, and the what-ifs steal the joy of watching your kids be kids? After one of my daughters was stung by a bee and my other daughter had a scary fall at the playground just days later, I noticed something: even after I knew my girls were okay, my nervous system hadn’t gotten the message yet. My brain kept replaying what happened, and I could feel myself wanting to become more watchful and more in control. So what do we do when the scary moment is over, but our anxiety is still hanging around? Today, we’re looking at Psalm 56:3—“But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in you.” We’ll talk about why your brain may stay on high alert after something scares you, why trusting God doesn’t require certainty, and practical ways to bring your mind and body back to the present. In this episode, we talk about: ⭐️ Why your brain may replay a scary moment with your child ⭐️ How your nervous system responds after something frightening happens ⭐️ How to recognize when you’re moving from being attentive into hypervigilance ⭐️ Why seeking complete certainty can keep the anxiety cycle going ⭐️ Psalm 56:3 and what it teaches us about fear and trusting God ⭐️ How praying out loud can help you slow down and turn your attention toward God ⭐️ How to come back to what is actually true in the present moment Contact Rachel: Email: [email protected] Listen on Apple Podcasts Become a Faith Over Anxiety Email Insider: SIGN UP HERE! 59 | Feeling Lost in Motherhood? How Overwhelmed Moms Can Stop Putting Themselves Last with Sarah Colbert
2026/08/24
Do you feel like you’ve spent years taking care of everyone else and somehow lost touch with yourself? Have you been waiting for life to slow down before you make time for your own goals, interests, or dreams? What if feeling like yourself again didn’t require a huge life change, but one small step of intention? In today’s episode… I’m joined by Sarah Colbert, a former television news journalist, coach’s wife, mom of three teenagers, and host of Balanced Mom Life. Sarah helps moms prioritize their time as their kids grow more independent so they can stop putting themselves last and start feeling like themselves again. We’re talking about what Sarah calls The Someday Trap — why so many moms put their goals, dreams, interests, and even basic needs on hold while waiting for the perfect time. If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, guilty for wanting space, or unsure of who you are outside of motherhood, this episode will encourage you to start small, release the pressure to do it perfectly, and create space for what matters without sacrificing your family. In this episode, we talk about: ⭐️ What “The Someday Trap” looks like for moms ⭐️ Why moms often feel guilty pursuing their own goals ⭐️ How motherhood can shift as kids grow more independent ⭐️ Why some moms feel more lost, not less busy, in a new season ⭐️ How to rediscover yourself without abandoning your family ⭐️ Why small, consistent actions matter more than huge life changes ⭐️ One simple step you can take this week to stop putting yourself on hold   Connect with Sarah Colbert: Podcast: Balanced Mom Life Website: www.westmetromom.com Email: [email protected]   Contact Rachel: Email: [email protected] Listen on Apple Podcasts Become a Faith Over Anxiety Email Insider: SIGN UP HERE! 58 | Scared About Your Child’s Surgery or Procedure? 3 Ways to Calm Medical Anxiety and Trust God
2026/08/20
Is your child facing an upcoming surgery or medical procedure, and your mind keeps jumping to everything that could go wrong? Do you know logically that your child is in capable hands, but still feel anxious about anesthesia, separation, or not being able to protect them? How do you truly trust God with your child when surrender feels so much harder than simply saying, “I trust You”? In today’s episode, we’re talking about medical anxiety in motherhood and what to do when your child has a surgery, procedure, test, or other medical situation that feels completely outside of your control.  I’m sharing my own experience when my oldest daughter underwent an elective surgery at just 17 months old, and we’re digging into Psalm 139 to discover a truth every anxious mama needs to remember: there may be places your child goes where you cannot follow, but there will never be a place your child goes where God cannot. In this episode, we talk about: ⭐️ Why your anxiety can get louder when your ability to protect your child gets smaller ⭐️ Why uncertainty, separation, and loss of control can activate your brain’s threat response ⭐️ What Psalm 139 teaches us about God’s presence with our children ⭐️ Why an anxious thought about danger is not the same as evidence that danger is happening ⭐️ How to trust God when your child goes somewhere you physically cannot follow ⭐️ Why surrendering to God doesn’t require you to feel completely calm first ⭐️ The three-step Know, There, Give Reset for surgery day, medical procedures, and waiting rooms Contact Rachel: Email: [email protected] Listen on Apple Podcasts Become a Faith Over Anxiety Email Insider: SIGN UP HERE! 57 | Why Won’t God Take This Away? Trusting God Through Anxiety and Unanswered Prayers
2026/08/17
Have you ever prayed, “God, why haven’t You taken this away yet?” Do you wonder why you’re still struggling with anxiety even though you’re praying, reading your Bible, and trying to trust God? What if the thing you wish God would remove doesn’t disqualify you—but becomes a place where His strength can be seen? In today’s episode, we’re talking about a powerful scene from The Chosen where Little James asks Jesus why He hasn’t healed him before sending him out to heal others. While that specific conversation isn’t recorded in Scripture, it points us toward a question we see throughout the Bible: What do we do when God doesn’t immediately remove the thing we’ve been praying about? We’ll look at Job 1, Paul’s thorn in the flesh in 2 Corinthians 12, and the man born blind in John 9 to discover what Scripture teaches us about suffering, unanswered prayers, weakness, and trusting God in the waiting. In this episode, we talk about: ⭐️ What Job 1 teaches us about trusting God when we don’t understand what He is doing ⭐️ Why an unanswered prayer doesn’t mean God isn’t listening ⭐️ Why anxiety and uncertainty can make waiting on God feel especially difficult ⭐️ How Paul’s thorn in the flesh shows us that weakness does not disqualify us from being used by God ⭐️ The difference between acceptance and resignation when circumstances haven’t changed ⭐️ A simple three-question exercise to help you recognize God’s grace while you continue praying and waiting Contact Rachel: Email: [email protected] Listen on Apple Podcasts Become a Faith Over Anxiety Email Insider: SIGN UP HERE!
