Terry Farley - UK house music pioneer, Junior Boys Own and helping launch The Chemical Brothers & Underworld
2026/10/23
A pioneer and bona fide legend of the UK house music scene, Terry Farley has played an instrumental role in shaping British club culture since the mid-1980s. From his roots in London’s reggae, soul and jazz-funk scenes to the explosion of acid house, Terry has been at the heart of a musical movement that changed clubbing forever.
Terry joined Alan and Clara to look back on a remarkable journey that began with a lifelong passion for collecting records and dancing, before an unexpected move behind the decks led to a career spanning more than four decades. He recalls the early days of the warehouse party scene, becoming a resident at influential nights including Spectrum and Future.
Terry also tells the story of Boy’s Own, the influential fanzine he co-founded with Andrew Weatherall and others in 1986, which documented the emerging acid house scene and helped capture the spirit of a generation. What began as a small independent publication developed into parties and, eventually, the legendary Junior Boy’s Own record label, releasing underground house music and helping bring artists including Underworld and the Chemical Brothers to a wider audience.
The conversation turns to Ibiza and the island’s transformative influence on dance music. Terry shares memories of the unforgettable opening party at Amnesia in 1989, his early encounters with Balearic music and Alfredo’s eclectic approach, and how sounds he initially approached with some reservations came together in the unique atmosphere of the island.
Along the way, Terry reflects on the DJs who influenced him, including Junior Vasquez, Norman Jay and the late Alan Sullivan, the dance-floor traditions that connected Northern Soul with house music, and the London clubs and venues that have disappeared over the years. He also discusses the importance of underground culture, the evolution of the scene and the friendships that have endured throughout his career.
Filmed at Karma Sanctum Hotel, London W1.

Jon Jules - from the birth of house music to Mi-Soul Radio
2026/10/21
Jon Jules is the latest inductee into the Global Club & Dance Hall Of Fame. With a DJ career dating back to 1982, Jon has been at the heart of British club culture for more than four decades, from the jazz-funk and soul scene of the early 1980s to the emergence of house and acid house.
In conversation with Alan and Clara, Jon looks back on the music, clubs and people that shaped his journey. He recalls the early days of the jazz-funk scene, the transition into house music and his ten-year residency at London’s Hippodrome, alongside appearances at legendary venues including Camden Palace, Limelight, Club UK and BCM in Mallorca.
Jon also tells the story of his influential record shop Rayners Lane Record and Disco Centre, which became a meeting place for DJs, producers and industry figures. Through his record knowledge and connections, he helped champion emerging sounds, get records into the right hands and support the careers of luminarys such as Paul Oakenfold, Brandon Block, Terry Farley and Simon Dunmore. He reflects on the excitement of discovering new music at the very beginning of the house explosion, when a record such as Lil Louis 'French Kiss' could change everything.
Now a presenter on Mi-Soul Radio, Jon continues to share his passion for soul, disco, jazz-funk and house, while working on events and bringing generations of music lovers together. His ambition to keep DJing well into old age says everything about a career built on one enduring belief: music is a way of life.
Karlos Sense - Ibiza Sonica Radio
2026/10/18
As Musical Director and content manager at Ibiza Sonica Radio, Karlos Sense has spent two decades helping shape the island’s musical identity, championing underground electronic music and introducing listeners around the world to new sounds and artists.
Originally from Madrid, Karlos first came to Ibiza in the late 1990s, playing at a beachside restaurant before returning for seasonal work. In 2004, he made the island his permanent home and two years later, a chance connection led him to Ibiza Sonica Radio, where he has remained ever since.
In this conversation he discusses his three shows: Low Beats, exploring ambient, downtempo, Balearic, soul, funk and trip-hop; Supersónicos, showcasing international guests alongside local and resident talent; and Noisegarden, his personal platform for discovering adventurous, avant-garde and underground electronic music.
He also shares his approach to music discovery, spending hours searching record shops and digital platforms for unusual textures and sounds that listeners might not encounter elsewhere. For Karlos, radio is about educating and inspiring people, not simply playing familiar tracks.
Away from the music, Karlos shares some of his favourite corners of the island, from peaceful hidden beaches and natural landscapes to much-loved local restaurants. He reflects on the importance of Ibiza’s freedom, nature and sense of community, and why its magic goes far beyond the clubs.
Karlos Sense’s contribution to Ibiza’s radio and underground music culture makes him a worthy inductee into the Ibiza Hall Of Fame.

Andy Wilson - co founder Ibiza Sonica Radio
2026/10/13
Andy Wilson is our latest inductee into the Ibiza Hall Of Fame. A DJ, broadcaster and one of the island’s key champions of Balearic music, Andy has spent decades shaping Ibiza’s musical identity, from the underground party scene to the radio airwaves.
Originally from Manchester, Andy was a teenage post-punker who had already recorded four John Peel Sessions and toured extensively with his band by the age of 18. After years of making mixtapes and collecting records, he began DJing in 1991, embarking on a journey that took him around the world, from Thailand’s free party scene to London’s legendary Sancho Panza warehouse and boat parties.
Andy first discovered Ibiza in 1989 and moved to the island permanently in 1999. He soon took over its English-language radio programme before helping launch Ibiza Global Radio in 2004. Two years later, he co-founded Ibiza Sonica, where he developed the station’s programming and produced shows for influential artists including José Padilla, Nightmares On Wax and Louie Vega. He also managed José Padilla, developing a close friendship with the legendary Balearic DJ.
In this conversation with Alan and Clara, Andy looks back on Ibiza’s changing club culture, the magic of Space and its iconic terrace, the DJs who influenced him, and the role radio has played in connecting the island’s international music community.
Andy also gives his honest perspective on modern Ibiza: rising prices, shorter holidays and the pressure to plan every moment, alongside the importance of exploring beyond the headline venues and supporting the traditional restaurants and local businesses that give the island its character.
Still producing, programming and broadcasting, Andy curates Sonica’s Balearic Sound and Sonicalm channels and presents his popular weekly Balearia show. His DJ appearances include regular sessions at Café del Mar and Pikes, as well as The Apartment at UNVRS.
Filmed at Café Mambo.

Martin Makepeace "Without the tourists you've got no business"
2026/10/10
Martin Makepeace is our latest inductee into the Ibiza Hall Of Fame and he joined Alan and Clara back in April to reflect on more than 35 years on the island, from arriving in 1991 for what was meant to be a six-month stay to building a life and business in Ibiza.
After starting out in London’s finance sector, Martin moved into the travel industry, developing a successful business before expanding into property. Today, he remains a property expert and president of the British Association of San Antonio, representing the interests of the British community on the island.
Martin discusses how Ibiza has changed over the decades, the impact of Brexit on young British people wanting to work here, and the growing challenges around housing, staff accommodation and the cost of living. He also shares his thoughts on tourism, explaining why residents and visitors both matter to the island’s future.
A lifelong observer of Ibiza’s evolution, Martin remembers the clubs and music that defined his early years here, including Pacha in the 1990s. He reflects on the island’s unique energy, why its music scene is so important, and how Ibiza continues to reinvent itself.
Martin also talks about his podcasts, Talking Balearics and his series featuring people who have made a difference to the island. He is currently writing a book, Ibiza Beneath the Brand, exploring the reality behind the island’s image and challenging some of the myths surrounding life in Ibiza.
We’re delighted to welcome Martin Makepeace into the Ibiza Hall Of Fame, as we continue to recognise the people working behind the scenes who help make the island what it is.

Roger Sanchez "I view sounds as colours on a palette"
2026/10/06
Roger Sanchez joined Alan and Clara in Ibiza to reflect on an extraordinary career that began in Queens, New York, taking him from breakdancing and underground house parties to becoming one of the world’s most respected DJs and producers.
Roger recalls discovering music through breakdancing, before moving into DJing and becoming immersed in funk, disco, hip hop and New York house culture. He talks about making and selling mixtapes and his early productions that first got him noticed including 'Luv Dancing' on Strictly Rhythm. He tells the story of creating Another Chance, sampling Toto for what was intended to be an underground album track - only for it to become Defected's first UK No. 1.
His connection with Ibiza began in 1995, and he explains why the island immediately felt like a second home. Roger looks back at some of his most memorable Ibiza moments, his relationship with Pacha and Flower Power, and the importance of understanding and preserving the culture behind the island’s clubs.
Roger discusses the DJs who have influenced him, from Larry Levan, Tony Humphries and Timmy Regisford to Carl Cox, Jeff Mills, Frankie Knuckles, David Morales and Danny Tenaglia. For Roger, technical ability is important, but the real skill is understanding the crowd. His latest album Spectrum, created over several years and featuring collaborations including Mel C, reflects his belief that sound can be viewed like colour with each track occupying a different part of an emotional spectrum.
Now celebrating the 25th anniversary of ‘Another Chance’, with more new music and Flower Power plans ahead, Roger shows no signs of slowing down and we’re delighted to induct him as the first American DJ and producer into the Ibiza Hall Of Fame.

John Truelove "I drove up and down the country with You Got The Love white labels"
2026/10/03
Ibiza resident John Truelove joined us back in April at IMS ibiza to reflect on a remarkable journey through dance music - from the early days of the M25 orbital rave scene to creating one of the most enduring anthems in club culture 'You Got the Love'.
John first discovered Ibiza in 1991, having already experienced the Summer of Love and the rave scene in Britain. He recalls the freedom of arriving on an island where the parties never seemed to stop, and how Ibiza quickly became somewhere he felt completely at home. After years of visiting, he finally made the move in 2008.
The conversation takes us behind the story of 'You Got the Love' - how a studio experiment combining the Candi Staton vocal with Frankie Knuckles and Jamie Principle's 'Your Love' became a record that would define an era. John explains how he pressed the first white labels, drove around the UK delivering records to independent shops himself, and worked to secure the permissions needed for an official release.
The track reached No. 4 in the UK charts in 1991, before John revisited it with the 1997 version, which went on to enjoy a remarkable second life, including a later note-for-note cover by Florence + The Machine.
John also discusses the less visible side of the music business. Through Truelove Music Publishing, he works with producers, composers and songwriters to protect their rights, register their music and collect royalties from the many different sources where their work is played. He explains why music publishing matters, how artists can lose control of their compositions, and why understanding the business behind the music is as important as making it.
There are plenty of reflections on Ibiza, too — from the island’s 24-hour clubbing culture and the legendary after-parties to how the scene has changed, the growth of daytime events and the different experiences Ibiza now offers.

Judge Jules “On Judgement Sundays opening the queue went around the block twice”
2026/09/29
Judge Jules joins the Ibiza Hall Of Fame to look back on a remarkable career spanning more than three decades - from his early days as a young DJ and law student to becoming one of the UK’s biggest DJs, a legendary BBC Radio 1 broadcaster, producer and music lawyer.
He recalls his first trip to Ibiza in 1988, when he played his first gig at Pacha, and how the island quickly became an important part of his career. He shares memories of the early Ibiza scene, the clubs, promoters and characters that shaped the island, and the very different experience of visiting Ibiza in the late 1980s and 1990s.
A major part of the conversation focuses on Judgement Sundays, which launched in 2000 at the venue that became Eden in San Antonio. Jules recalls the decision to create his own branded Ibiza night, the huge queue on the opening night and how the night developed into one of the island’s defining weekly events. He also talks about booking DJs such as Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, Eric Prydz and Ferry Corsten early in their careers and building diverse line-ups around emerging talent.
He also reflects on the evolution of Ibiza, the rising cost of visiting the island and the growth of daytime events aimed at an older generation of clubbers.
Now balancing an international DJ career with specialist music law, Jules reflects on how the industry and Ibiza has changed - and not always to the benefit of the younger clubbers.

Lisa Nash "I told Pete Tong he was burnt like a lobster"
2026/09/23
Lisa Nash joins the Global Club & Dance Hall Of Fame to talk about an extraordinary career at the heart of club culture - from her early love of music and Ibiza to becoming one of the familiar faces of ClubaVision.
Lisa recalls discovering Ibiza as a teenager and the moment she walked into Es Paradis and saw Rozalla performing. The experience left such an impression that she knew she would be back - and that music and clubs would become a major part of her life.
She talks about the creation of ClubaVision, which began as a video project before moving onto ITV, and what it was like being paid to travel around the UK and Ibiza, interview superstar DJs and report from the biggest clubs and parties of the era.
Lisa also reveals how Carl Cox helped her learn one of the most important lessons of interviewing: “Just say whatever comes into your head.” What began as nerves and carefully rehearsed questions became a career built around her genuine love of talking to people and discovering their stories.
There are plenty of Ibiza memories along the way - from filming with the likes of Pete Tong, visiting Pacha, Pikes and the hippie markets, to recreating the famous ClubaVision Ibiza tour and remembering the days when there were no mobile phones, no social media and celebrities could simply enjoy themselves alongside everyone else.
Lisa also talks about some of the DJs and artists who have stayed with her throughout the years, including Jeremy Healy, Lisa Loud, Carl Cox, Masters at Work and Roy Ayers, as well as some of the unforgettable characters and stories from Ibiza’s golden era.
Now back filming and working in the music and events world, Lisa reflects on reconnecting with the people and music she grew up around — and why the love of dance music never really goes away.

Gordon Mac MBE "I was the weird white kid into James Brown and The Fatback Band"
2026/09/17
Gordon Mac MBE joins the Global Club & Dance Hall Of Fame to tell the story of a remarkable life in music — from falling in love with radio and DJing as a teenager to co-founding Kiss FM in 1985, when it was a South London pirate station championing underground music. He recalls the extraordinary rise of Kiss, taking the station from pirate radio to becoming a legal 24-hour dance station, the DJs and the explosion of house, soul, reggae, hip-hop and dance music that transformed British club culture.
Gordon also reveals why he returned to radio years after leaving Kiss - launching Mi-Soul Radio after realising there was a generation of Kiss listeners who had grown up but still wanted the music they loved. He explains how he tracked down many of the DJs who had been pushed out of mainstream radio and brought them together again. His philosophy has remained the same: radio should give great DJs a platform.
As Gordon puts it, “I didn't create these DJs I just gave them a platform.”
He also talks about his deep connection with Ibiza, from his first visit in the 1980s and early Kiss Ibiza parties to three different chapters on the island, his love of its music and escapism, and the people and places that have stayed with him.
A fascinating conversation with one of the key figures behind the evolution of British radio and dance music - and a man who, decades later, is still spreading the music he loves.“It’s always been about the music.”

Jason Bye - from Bucanero to Café Mambo, Amnesia, Space and "We Love....Sundays"
2026/09/12
Jason Bye’s Ibiza story began in 1992 on a Club 18-30 holiday. Within a year he was back on the island, determined to find a way to stay - even sleeping on the beach while looking for work.A chance job at Bucanero, working for owner Javier Anadón, became the beginning of something much bigger. In 1994, Javier invited Jason to come and play some records at his new bar - Café Mambo.
With Brandon Block, Alex P and Sasha among the DJs hanging out, Jason found himself behind the decks when the others were, as he puts it, “too hedonistic” to play. He kept playing, and after just a night or two was offered the residency that would define his Ibiza career and also soundtrack the sunsets on the strip for years to come.Jason talks about the birth of the Café Mambo sound creating his legendary sunset sets, his long residencies at Cream at Amnesia and "We Love...Sundays" at Space and the people and records that shaped more than three decades on the island.
An incredible story of how a Club 18-30 holiday turned into 30+ years at the heart of Ibiza’s soundtrack.

Danny Whittle "It was very Wild West - moldy cash and poster wars"
2026/08/27
IMS co-founder, Director of Chinois Ibiza and island resident Danny Whittle takes us back to the mid-90s, when Ibiza’s club scene was still the Wild West — a world of cash payments, poster wars and armies of flyermen battling to promote the biggest nights. With no social media and little regulation, promoters relied on beaches, bars, flyers and posters to fill their clubs. Danny reveals how flyering was carefully tracked, how rival clubs would move posters to illegal locations to trigger fines, and how penalties eventually reached €3,000–€4,000 — helping bring the era of street promotion to an end.
