Jenessa Wait on Moving With God
2026/10/06
What does it look like to move toward God when you don’t know what comes next?
In this episode of The Women of Joy Show, Maegan Schwindling sits down with Jenessa Wait to talk about moving toward the goodness of God and learning to lean into Him. Jenessa is an amazing artist, entrepreneur, and follower of Jesus. You don’t want to miss checking out her online shop. In this conversation, Jenessa shares the heart behind her new book, releasing in November, and invites us to consider how we respond to God’s invitation to draw closer. They bring all of this back to our fall theme of how we move with God toward His goodness.
When life feels uncertain, we often want answers before we take another step. But we can bring our questions to God, trust His character, and begin moving toward Him right where we are. His goodness gives us a reason to keep coming closer even when we don’t have everything figured out.
If you’ve been longing for reassurance or wondering what your next step of faith might look like, this conversation is an invitation to lean into the One who is already near.
Join us as we laugh a little, grow a lot, and don’t do life alone.

How to Make the Most of Your Women of Joy Weekend | Katie Braddock
2026/09/29
Whether you’re coming to Women of Joy for the first time or bringing a group that’s been attending for years, how can you make the most of the weekend away?
Maegan Schwindling sits down with good friend Katie Braddock, a church staff member and group leader whose church has been coming to Women of Joy for more than 17 years. Katie shares what she’s learned about leading a group well, helping women feel welcome, and making room for meaningful conversations alongside all the fun.
They also talk about the devotionals and small group questions being added this year. Simple ways to reflect on what you’re hearing, talk about God’s goodness, and carry the weekend home with you.
In this episode, you’ll hear about:
How to prepare your group before the weekend beginsWays to help first-time attendees feel includedHow to invite conversation without putting pressure on anyone to shareWhy the moments between sessions can matter as much as the sessions themselvesHow to use the devotionals and discussion questions with your groupWhat it looks like to take what God has done at Women of Joy back into your church and everyday life
Come with your friends, come ready to laugh, and come open to what God might do. And if you’re leading a group, remember: you don’t have to create a perfect weekend. You can make space for women to connect with God and with one another.
Where we laugh a little, grow a lot, and don’t do life alone.

Lulu Gribbin | Is God Still Good When Life Doesn't Make Sense
2026/09/22
What happens to your faith when everything changes in a matter of seconds?
In this powerful episode of The Women of Joy Show, Maegan sits down with Lulu Gribbin, her mom, Ann Blair, and her sister, Ellie, to talk about the day a shark attack changed their family forever—and how they have experienced the goodness of God in the middle of unimaginable circumstances.
Lulu’s story is one of survival, courage, family, and faith. But this conversation goes beyond what happened that day. Together, they talk honestly about the fear, grief, questions, recovery, and unexpected moments where God met them along the way.
How do you believe God is good when what happened doesn’t feel good?
How do you trust Him when you would never have chosen the story you’re living?
And what does faith look like when you don’t have answers for all the questions?
Lulu, Ann Blair, and Ellie share what it looked like to walk through a life-altering tragedy as a family, the people God placed around them, and the ways they can now see His presence woven through even the hardest parts of their story.
If you’ve ever experienced a moment that divided your life into before and after, this conversation is for you.
God’s goodness doesn’t mean we won’t experience suffering. It means that suffering never gets the final word.

Hosana Wong | How To Stop Overcomplicating Your Faith
2026/09/15
Does your relationship with God ever feel more complicated than it should?
Hosanna Wong joins Maegan Schwindling on The Women of Joy Show to talk about her book Uncomplicate It and how to stop overcomplicating your faith, let go of unrealistic expectations, and experience the goodness of God in your everyday life.
So many Christian women find themselves asking: Am I doing enough? Am I hearing God correctly? What if I make the wrong decision? Why does everyone else seem to have their faith figured out?
Before long, our relationship with God can become another place where we feel pressure to perform.
In this conversation, Hosanna shares how comparison, shame, expectations, and overthinking can complicate our faith and how we can return to the simple truth of who God is and who He says we are.
Maegan, Debbie, and Hosanna talk about the difference between striving and obedience, how to recognize the voices shaping the way we see ourselves, and why truly knowing the character of God changes the way we approach Him.
Because the goodness of God isn't something we have to earn, manufacture, or figure out.
God is good. God is near. And your relationship with Him may not need to be as complicated as you've made it.
If you've been overthinking your faith, struggling with comparison, or longing to grow closer to God without feeling like you have to get everything right, this episode is for you.
Subscribe to The Women of Joy Show for conversations that help you grow in your faith, experience more freedom, and remember that we don't do life alone.

Lisa Harper on the Goodness of God / Part 2
2026/09/08
Can God really be good when life doesn’t feel good? How could a good God give us his only son?
In Part 2 of our conversation with beloved Bible teacher Lisa Harper, we ask some of the hardest questions about the goodness of God.
Where is God when we pray and nothing changes? Why does a good God allow suffering? What do we do when what we know about God doesn’t seem to match what we’re experiencing? And can we wrestle honestly with God without losing our faith?
Lisa reminds us that biblical faith doesn’t require us to avoid the hard questions. God is not intimidated by our doubts, disappointment, grief, or confusion. We can bring all of it to Him and discover that His goodness is deeper than the circumstances surrounding us.
Because faith isn’t pretending the hard thing isn’t hard.
It’s trusting that even when we don’t understand what God is doing, we can still trust who God is.
If you’ve ever wrestled with God’s goodness, wondered why He allowed something, or carried a question you were almost afraid to say out loud, this conversation is for you.
Join us for an honest conversation about the questions we all have and the God who is big enough to meet us in them.

Lisa Harper on the Goodness of God / Part 1
2026/08/31
What does it really mean to believe in the goodness of God? Not just when life is going well, but when life is painful, confusing, or nothing like we hoped it would be?
In this episode of The Women of Joy Show, we are kicking off the fall season. It is based around our tour theme of The Goodness of God. Maegan Schwindling sits down with beloved Bible teacher and Women of Joy favorite Lisa Harper for an honest, hope-filled conversation about what Scripture actually teaches us about the character of God.
Together, they talk about the tension so many of us carry: How can God be good when what I’m walking through doesn’t feel good?
Lisa reminds us that Scripture never ignores suffering or offers easy answers for hard circumstances. Instead, the Bible continually points us back to who God is—merciful, gracious, faithful, compassionate, and good.
If disappointment, waiting, loss, or unanswered prayers have caused you to question God’s goodness, this conversation will encourage you to keep bringing those questions to Him. You don't have to pretend everything is good to believe that God never loses his goodness.

2026/08/18
What if some of the most meaningful moments with God are happening in the parts of life you’re tempted to overlook?
In this episode of The Women of Joy Show, Christy Nockels joins us to talk about recognizing God’s presence in ordinary rhythms, everyday responsibilities, and seasons that may not feel particularly significant. She is like a big sister pulling up a chair next to you to share wisdom for your daily life.

Susie Larson | How to Trust God for the Impossible
2026/08/11
What do you do when you believe God is good, but your circumstances are telling you a different story?
In this episode of The Women of Joy Show, Maegan sits down with bestselling author and Bible teacher Susie Larson to talk about her new book, More Than You Can Imagine: What God Does When You Trust Him, and what it looks like to trust God when the outcome feels uncertain, the waiting feels long, or what you are facing seems impossible.
Susie shares why some areas of our lives are easier to surrender to God than others and how our ability to trust Him is often connected to what we believe about who God is and who we are in Him.
Together, Maegan and Susie talk about the spiritual battle surrounding our identity, the lies that cause us to question God's goodness, and how fear can quietly keep us from believing God for more. You'll be encouraged to recognize the places where the enemy has tried to undermine your confidence and replace those lies with the truth of God's character and promises.
Because trusting God doesn't mean knowing exactly what He is going to do. It means knowing who He iseven when you don't know what comes next.
If you're waiting on God, praying for something that feels impossible, or struggling to trust Him with an area you desperately want to control, this conversation will remind you: God is still working, He is still good, and He is able to do more than you can imagine.
Scripture:
"Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine..." Ephesians 3:20

Jonathan Pokluda | How to Recognize Spiritual Warfare Without Living in Fear
2026/07/21
What if some of the battles you're fighting aren't just emotional, they're spiritual?
Spiritual warfare can be one of the most misunderstood topics in the Christian life. Some people become consumed by it. Others avoid it altogether. But Scripture doesn't call us to fear or fascination. It calls us to awareness.
In this eye-opening conversation, Jonathan Pokluda (JP) joins Maegan to unpack what the Bible actually teaches about Satan, demons, spiritual warfare, and the victory believers already have in Christ. JP is the pastor at Harris Creek Baptist Church in Waco, Texas, podcast host of Becoming Something and the author of several books. Together, they discuss why spiritual warfare begins just three chapters into the Bible, how the enemy subtly attacks believers today, and why faith, prayer, and Christian community are God's primary means of protection.
They also tackle some of the most common questions Christians ask; including whether believers can be demonized, how technology and social media can become tools the enemy uses against us, and why the greatest battlefield isn't "out there", it's our minds.
Most importantly, you'll walk away with hope, knowing that while the battle is real, Jesus has already won the war.
In This Episode:Why spiritual warfare is a biblical reality and not just something Christians should ignore or obsess over. The surprising reason spiritual warfare appears only three chapters into the Bible. Can a Christian be demonized? What Scripture actually says about "oppression" and "possession."Why doesn't Satan have to read your mind to know your weaknesses. How technology, algorithms, comparison, and isolation can become spiritual battlegrounds. Why faith is your greatest defense against the enemy's attacks (Ephesians 6).How prayer activates the armor of God in your everyday life. The unique lies women often hear and how to recognize the enemy's voice. Why weakness is actually an advantage when your dependence is on Christ. How shame keeps us isolated and why bringing our stories into the light breaks the enemy's power. Why your testimony is one of the strongest weapons God has given you.How to renew your mind when spiritual warfare feels overwhelming. The powerful reminder that we don't fight for victory. We fight from the victory Jesus has already secured.

Kristi McLelland | Jesus Sees You: What the Women Around Jesus Teach Us Today
2026/07/07
Have you ever wondered what it would have been like to walk beside Jesus in the first century?
In this powerful episode of The Women of Joy Show, Maegan sits down with Bible teacher and author Kristi McLelland to step into the world of Scripture through a Middle Eastern lens. Together, they explore how understanding the culture Jesus lived in transforms familiar Bible stories and reveals just how radically He valued, honored, and restored women.
From the woman at the well to Mary and Martha, from the woman who anointed Jesus' feet to the women who remained faithful at the cross, you'll discover that Jesus consistently moved toward those societies often overlooked. He didn't simply tolerate women; He invited them close, dignified their stories, and called them into His Kingdom work.
If you've ever questioned your value, wondered if God truly sees you, or longed to understand Jesus more deeply, this conversation will remind you that your identity has never been determined by your past, your performance, or the opinions of others. It has always been found in the One who calls you by name.

Leisa Nelson | How to Pray for Your Kids (Part 1)
2026/06/23
As parents, few things matter more than how we pray for our children. Yet many of us find ourselves praying the same prayers over and over, wondering if we're missing opportunities to pray more intentionally and strategically.
In this episode of The Women of Joy Show, Maegan sits down with Leisa Nelson to discuss how parents can move beyond praying only for circumstances and begin praying for the hearts, character, faith, and future of their children.
Leisa shares practical encouragement for building a consistent prayer life, trusting God with the children He has entrusted to us, and partnering with Him in the work He is already doing in their lives. Together, they explore how Scripture can shape our prayers and why remembering that our children belong to God first changes everything.
Whether your children are toddlers, teenagers, or adults, this conversation will equip you with practical tools and biblical encouragement to pray with greater confidence and purpose.
