#101. Local Hernando Homecoming TP Drama, Pilot Attack Story & Viewer Mail
2026/10/02
Coach and Derrick open with jokes about classic rock and welcome guest Stacy Dodd, who discusses the Hope Center and its mentoring programs for kids, then promotes the Hope Gala on October 8 from 6:00–9:00 at the Gin in Nesbit with barbecue from Scotty’s, testimonies, and fundraising to support events and conferences across DeSoto County and beyond; they mention the organization’s progress toward gold status with the Memphis Grizzlies Foundation. After Stacy leaves, they talk about the band LMA’s debut show and upcoming bookings, Yankees vs. Red Sox playoff talk, Hernando’s homecoming tradition of toilet-papering yards and an incident involving paintball guns, a news story about a co-pilot attacking a pilot on a Dubai-to-Israel flight, and viewer mail about breaking up by text and embarrassing moments.

Celebrating 100 Episodes: Special Calls with Announcer/Actor David Hatton & Chairbound Hunter Wes Joyner
2026/09/25
Cannonballing Life celebrates its 100th episode with Derrick Michaud and Coach Camp welcoming back friends and past guests via phone. They thank professional MMA announcer and aspiring actor David Hatten, who shares his new acting projects, including My Dear Son (targeting a late-November release), plus upcoming Primal Cage Wars events. David also pledges a $100 donation and encourages listeners to support the show via Venmo. The hosts then call substitute teacher Wes Joyner, a paraplegic outdoorsman, who talks about his tracked Action Trackchair, recent hunting trips, and an upcoming Chair Bound Hunters trip to Wyoming. The episode also reflects on the show’s evolution, consistency challenges, health updates, and upcoming emcee events for 9/11 stair climb and a DeSoto Hope cancer fundraiser.

#099. Capes, Dirty Sodas, AI Fears & Poop-Driven Determination
2026/09/19
Coach and Derrick joke about matching shirts, Coach Camp’s new logo cape for a Guardians of the Galaxy-themed speech. Coach is traveling to Arkansas this weekend to finish prepping a newly purchased lake home for Airbnb and share a warning about suspicious one-night midweek bookings from brand-new profiles with no photo, which they researched as a possible scam tied to illegal activity or squatting. They discuss “dirty soda” drinks, boba tea, and local spots in Hernando, Mississippi, then pivot to race stories about athletes pooping themselves—one pro who still won and another marathon runner who inspired Coach to keep going. The conversation turns to AI’s rapid rise, its everyday use in podcast workflows, and broader worries about robots and misinformation, plus recommendations like Netflix’s The American Experiment. They also cover Winston the Saint Bernard smelling like skunk, robocalls, a surge of pests due to extreme heat (ticks, wasps, moles, mice, army worms), tick-borne alpha-gal, and plug upcoming events including a Sept. 26 Liberty Bowl stair climb fundraiser and a Sept. 25 debut show for the band LMA at Neal’s Music Room.

#098. Lake House Wins, 9/11 Reflections, and Memphis Wrestling Memories
2026/09/11
In this episode, Coach recaps a scorching weekend working at the lake house with nephew Hunter, who struggled with mowing on a slope but redeemed the day by fixing a hose spigot with a screwdriver, followed by swimming and a dog mishap where Finley fell into deep water. The conversation shifts to extreme heat, a Pink Floyd tribute gig, and a substantial 9/11 remembrance including where each host was that day, documentaries, and first-responder impact, plus upcoming events honoring firefighters. They also honor Memphis wrestling legend Bill Dundee, joke about doomsday preppers and zombies, debate odd food combos, and answer listener questions.

Armyworms, Ambien Antics & Dolly Parton
2026/09/04
After a week off, the Coach and Derrick return to Cannonballing Life and banter about heat, air conditioning, and summer cooling options like jumping in a pool. They share updates on birthdays, health and recovery, and Coach’s new lake cabin “Lake-A-Rosa,” including family time, preparations to list it on Airbnb, and dealing with heavy boat traffic and warm water. The conversation shifts to Dolly Parton’s legacy, philanthropy, and business savvy, including her decision to retain publishing rights and turning down an Elvis request that would have cost her future royalties, later boosted by Whitney Houston’s version of “I Will Always Love You.” They also tell a new Ambien story, discuss an armyworm infestation eating lawn grass, and plug upcoming tribute-band shows at Lafayette’s and other venues.

Chafing in August & Roundabout Drama
2026/08/21
The hosts riff on why people clap and shake hands; Coach shows up limping two weeks after knee surgery, admits to overdoing it with PT, gym work, a two-mile treadmill walk, and storm-limb cleanup, and they review using ice for joints and heat for muscles. They talk about daily micro-goals, with Derrick applying a “three to five songs a day” system to learn band setlists and pushing Coach to prioritize finishing his book despite constant task “glitches.” Derrick promotes Pulse: A Memphis Tribute to Pink Floyd at Neil’s Music Room (8 PM, $10), featuring guest guitarist Josh Haynes, and shares etiquette about not reclaiming gigs from substitutes. They joke about August heat, chafing, and powder remedies, celebrate finding a free Xfinity community hotspot at the studio, and note a Real Hernando roundabouts clip hitting nearly 15,000 Facebook views.

Two Flats on a Donut
2026/08/14
In this episode, the Coach and Derrick reflect on their Cannonball anniversary plans that never happened, then dive into health updates: Coach Camp describes his knee surgery, the long fasting wait at the surgery center, and a post-op “truth serum” fog that led to a chaotic trip home featuring road debris, a flat tire, a police officer changing the tire, and then a second flat when the donut was destroyed—yet he still kept his daily two-mile walking streak and started PT after chasing down missing orders. Derrick shares ongoing post-prostatectomy issues, and the need to self-advocate through slow medical scheduling. They also celebrate Derrick’s daughter Skylar turning 18, her hibachi plans, and starting cosmetology-related studies at Northwest, plus a humorous parenting story about explaining “democratic socialist” economics with a hot dog stand example that ends in an unexpected twerking punchline.

Cannonball Anniversary (The REAL One), Knee Surgery Panic & The Prostatectomy Chronicles
2026/08/07
Coach Camp and Derrick are finally back together at SRP Studios after missing a week—and naturally, things immediately go off the rails. They discuss mysterious gifts, “unicorn” Saturdays, apartment life at The Magnolias in Hernando, rapidly multiplying rent prices, and the possibility of Zach Camp becoming the newest neighbor.
Then things take a turn into The Prostatectomy Chronicles, as Derrick provides another update on his recovery, including clotting, trouble urinating, an ER visit, a CT scan that basically said “looks fine,” and his desperate quest to get some actual urologist attention. Pelvic-floor PT also makes an appearance, with the strategy changing from “make it stronger!” to “EVERYBODY RELAX!” thanks to a hypertonic pelvic floor.
Meanwhile, Coach is having his own personal crisis: a five-plus-year DAILY running streak is staring down the barrel of knee surgery. With an MCL repair and arthritis cleanup on the schedule, Coach is more concerned about losing his streak than the fact that someone is about to rearrange his knee. Add in some pre-op communication frustrations, and you've got one stressed-out runner.
The guys also celebrate the REAL Cannonball anniversary, talk about closing on a lake house, senior-year school changes, some “pleading the Fifth” news, answer listener questions, and somehow end up discussing an absolutely glorious Ambien text.
It's another episode featuring surgery, real estate, running, pee problems, questionable medications, and two grown men trying to make sense of life.
Basically… Cannonballing Life.

Prostate Surgery Recovery, Facebook Gatekeepers & a Surprise Lake House Cannonball
2026/07/25
After nearly a month off, Derrick and Coach return to Cannonballing Life and catch up on Derrick’s post-prostatectomy recovery, including ongoing discomfort after catheter removal, while noting he feels better getting back to normal life and recording again. They share show updates, ways to connect and support the podcast, and discuss Coach's frustration with Facebook group admins who delete positive posts. Coach then reveals a major surprise: he and Alicia(fly swatter lady) bought a fully furnished, two-year-old lakefront house at Greers Ferry, Arkansas, planning to VRBO/Airbnb it, close on August 15, and celebrate his birthday there with his kids, while meeting second-residence requirements and using existing equity to make it work. They wrap with gym etiquette pet peeves and upcoming speaking dates.

Coach Camp’s Big Keynote + Derrick’s Prostate Cancer Announcement for this podcast
2026/06/26
In this episode of Cannonball Life, Derrick and Coach Camp talk about spontaneity, including trying a Dunkin’ “strawberry cloud matcha,” then recap Coach Camp’s lead-off keynote at the Mississippi Educators’ Conference in Jackson, where he shared his background, emphasized that everyone is capable of taking “one more step,” and ended with a call-and-response and music cue. They discuss upcoming Hope Center leadership events on August 1 (Southaven) and August 15 (Olive Branch). Derrick describes his first colonoscopy, the prep, and results showing five polyps sent for biopsy with a recommended three-year follow-up. The biggest update is Derrick’s prostate cancer diagnosis (May 11), symptoms, PSA spike, family history, PET scan results, and decision for prostate removal surgery on July 2, plus expected recovery and a planned show break while encouraging men to get checked.

Belize Cannonball: Island Time, Nurse Sharks & Avoiding a 7-Hour Flight Delay
2026/06/19
Coach and Derrick return for Episode 91 after Coach’s five-night Belize trip. They discuss travel anxiety and how flight attendants helped Coach manage his pre-flight nerves, then compare Belize’s strict passport checks with the ease of re-entering the U.S. Coach shares highlights and mishaps from an off-the-grid house reached by long golf-cart rides in the dark, including a scorpion in the bedroom and a massive mosquito swarm during a sunset grocery run. He recounts snorkeling the barrier reef, swimming near nurse sharks, and enjoying local food like stewed chicken, rice and beans, plantains, shrimp, and whole fish. A last-minute decision to stay an extra day proved crucial when the house lost power overnight and their original Friday flight was delayed seven hours, which they avoided.

Belize Vacation Prep, Red Light Therapy, and Running for Your Two
2026/06/05
In episode 90, Coach and Derrick riff through unscripted updates, including Coach’s upcoming weeklong family vacation to Belize and what he learned from YouTube research: English-speaking culture, a 2-to-1 currency exchange, limited cell service unless you pay, island travel by golf cart, snorkeling near the barrier reef, cave tubing, and zip-lining. The conversation also covers senior pictures and the emotions of kids growing up, Maddie’s tire blowout and “welcome to life” lessons, birthdays in the family, Coach trying red light therapy at the gym, and his commitment to daily two-mile runs—including a conference jog that left him drenched and a treadmill finish just before the power went out, disrupting his CPAP.

Grip It and Rip It: Graduation Tears, an Inversion Table Fail, and an Interstate 240 Hit-and-Run
2026/05/30
Coach and Derrick open with updates and promotions, joking about low energy during downtime, gym routines, sleep habits, and needing background noise to sleep. They discuss “life comes at you fast,” highlighted by Skylar Glynn Michaud’s Hernando High School graduation (class of 2026) at the Landers Center, including emotional moments, Principal Case’s retirement announcement, and a standout audience reaction for graduate Shelby. Coach shares mishaps involving an inversion table accident and a spider encounter while cutting grass. Derrick recounts being rear-ended on I-240 on the way to a Pink Floyd tribute gig, dealing with a driver who had no insurance or license and fled before police arrived, later learning the plate didn’t match the car. They share a fire-department fender-bender/insurance-fraud story, discuss learning new Pink Floyd songs, upcoming dates, June birthdays, Belize travel plans, and answer listener mail about starting a monogramming business.

Jeep Ducks, NYC Congestion Charges & Hernando Lady Tigers Win State
2026/05/22
In this episode, the hosts riff on “OnlyHaters,” then launch into a rant about how people rush to judge others—citing a local elected official’s DUI situation, wrongful convictions, and the “court of public opinion”—and criticize online dogpiling on community pages and unfair public attacks on small businesses and reviews. They debate Jeep “ducking” and waves, arguing only Wranglers count, and joke about dashboard trophies for animals hit. They complain about New York City tolls and a $15 congestion charge billed through a rental car, and recall an out-of-state ticket that had to be paid immediately via a card machine. The tone shifts to local highlights: the Hernando Lady Tigers softball team winning another state championship, a powder puff football game with football players as cheerleaders, and Coach Camp joining a Colonial Hills church men’s softball league. They close with listener questions about dating an alien and choosing what to be “attacked” by, plus plugs for SRP Studios and Motivate with Coach Camp.
