Indonesia’s CIA‑Backed Genocide the World Erased
2026/09/02
In episode 86 of Global Majority for Peace, Ileana revisits an interview with Indonesian Journalist, Febriana Firdaus and Vincent Bevins author of "The Jakarta Method” .
The millions killed by anti-communism. Part One.
Wei and Ileana talk to Indonesian journalist Febriana Firdaus and American journalist and author, Vincent Bevins on his bestselling book “The Jakarta Method”.
We discuss how the US backed capitalist agenda led to the mass killings of innocent unarmed leftists across the global south and especially how it led to the massacre of over a million Indonesians in 1965, an event that is still being silenced to this day.

Debunking "Free Tibet": The Truth Behind the Propaganda
2026/08/19
What really happened in Tibet?
In episode 85 of Global Majority for Peace, Dylan Koba from the Marxist-Leninist organisation, the Red Anti-Imperialist Collective joins Ileana to unpack the enduring propaganda around Tibet. From Hollywood tropes like Seven Years in Tibet and Richard Gere’s Buddhism, to CIA‑backed separatist movements, we trace how “Free Tibet” became a slogan for imperial interests.
We explore the historical reality: Tibet’s feudal serfdom (over 95% of the population), the 1950 Battle of Chamdo, the 17‑Point Agreement signed by the Dalai Lama, Mao’s gradualist policies, and the role of Tibetan communists in shaping liberation. Dylan debunks myths and highlights why Tibet’s incorporation into China is, in reality, an act of anti‑imperialism rather than colonization.
Dylan is a Marxist-Leninist and a member of the ML organisation, the Red Anti-Imperialist Collective. Dylan has written on a number of issues and topics relating to actually existing socialist projects and the broader anti-imperialist struggle. Recently, he has focused on the political economy of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics and its interrelation with the global political economy. His aim is to use this work to strengthen his and his Red Ant comrades’ capacity to agitate effectively for this prominent socialist project in our current conjuncture, as the contradictions of capitalism and its increasingly barbaric expressions of imperialism grow ever sharper.

Ōme on Why 60% of Mexicans Choose China
2026/08/12
In episode 84 of Global Majority for Peace, Ileana Chan talks with Ōme (aka SugarSkullAngelic), a Mexican content creator and educator with over 40,000 followers on TikTok, bridging cultural identity, political analysis, and grassroots activism. Ōme breaks down the hidden history of U.S. interference in Mexico, from CIA-backed presidents to the 1968 massacre that still haunts the country's left. She explains why 60% of Mexicans now support China, why negative sentiments toward the United States are rising, and how Mexico's leftist government under Claudia Sheinbaum is navigating the delicate balancing act between the US imperialist aggression and the multipolar world China, and Russia promises.

Socialista Champagne | How to Exploit the Cracks in Empire
2026/07/01
In episode 82 of Global Majority for Peace, Ileana Chan speaks with Isabella Aidar (Socialista Champagne), a Brazilian‑Canadian activist, political educator, and UX designer for Tech for Palestine. Radicalized by Occupy Wall Street in 2011, Isabella traces her journey from journalism student to anti‑imperialist, scientific communist.
They discuss why anti‑imperialism must be the primary struggle for any serious movement, how the CIA co‑opted Marxism through conflation and co‑optation, and why the Global South holds more leverage than ever before. Isabella breaks down the different strategies for the Global South (technology transfers, state ownership, local production) versus the Global North (mutual aid, political education, combating the labor aristocracy). She also reflects on the trap of electoral politics, the importance of disciplined organizing spaces, and why the US empire is inevitably going down swinging.

Rufaro George Kanjere | How We Prepare for What Comes After US Imperialism
2026/06/24
In episode 81 of Global Majority for Peace, Ileana Chan sits down with George Kanjere, community and union organizer and member of the Red Anti-Imperialist Collective in Australia. Born in Zimbabwe and raised between there and Australia, George traces his journey from the Australian Greens to Marxism-Leninism, radicalized by Aboriginal deaths in custody and the reality of third world conditions inside one of the wealthiest countries on Earth.
They discuss what it means to build a revolutionary movement in the imperial core, why anti-imperialist views without domestic power are just "academic vibes," and how organizers must meet people where they are, not demand they come "pre-cleansed" of conservative ideas. George breaks down the Red Anti-Imperialist Collective's strategy: prioritizing First Nations liberation, organizing in women-dominated sectors like education and healthcare, and exposing how Australia's economy is owned by BlackRock and Vanguard. He also reflects on the long transition from capitalism to socialism, the importance of internal party culture to prevent abuse, and why women's liberation is an existential question, not identity politics, for any serious revolutionary movement.

Michael Dutton | Why the West Gets Everything Wrong About China
2026/06/17
In episode 80 of Global Majority for Peace, Ileana Chan is joined by Professor Michael Dutton, political theorist and China specialist, to explore how China’s revolutionary project reshaped political subjectivity, state power, and everyday life and why Western frameworks fail to grasp it. Formerly a Reader in Chinese Politics and Social Theory at the University of Melbourne and later Professor of Politics at Goldsmiths, University of London, Michael is the author of influential works including Policing and Punishment in China, Streetlife China, Policing Chinese Politics, and most recently The Book of Politics: China in Theory (2024).
He traces the formation of his political worldview and examines the central question animating his latest work: what conditions transform people from capitalists into socialists? Drawing from decades of research, he breaks down the methodologies, policies, and psychological shifts that shaped China’s political transformation from Mao’s adaptation of Marxism to the evolution of Communism with Chinese characteristics.

Giovani Del Prete | “We Will Coup Whoever We Want”: US Imperialist Escalations in Latin America
2026/06/10
In episode 79 of Global Majority for Peace, Ileana Chan is joined by Giovani Del Prete, Brazilian militant of the Movimento Brasil Popular (MBP) and member of the Continental Secretariat of ALBA Movimentos, to unpack the latest wave of U.S. imperialist escalations in Latin America. Giovani draws on his organizing experience across Brazil and the region to explain how Washington is tightening pressure on Bolivia, Colombia, Cuba, and Venezuela as they push toward sovereignty, integration, and a multipolar world.
He breaks down the indefinite general strike in Bolivia, the social forces leading it, and how the rise of President Rodrigo Paz reflects a familiar pattern of U.S. intervention against governments that challenge neoliberal orthodoxy. Giovani also examines Colombia’s political crossroads as President Gustavo Petro faces investigations and elite backlash for opposing the U.S. drug war, rejecting sanctions on Venezuela and Cuba, and calling for deeper South-South cooperation.

Triploi | Why Australia Can't Break Free from US Empire
2026/06/03
In episode 78 of Global Majority for Peace, Ileana Chan is joined by Triploi, @triploi historian, content, creator, and host of the Triploi Podcast, to unpack how Western historical narratives are constructed and why they consistently erase the Global South. He traces how a childhood fascination with World War II led him to question the omissions in mainstream history, discover historical materialism, and understand the deep entanglement between colonialism and capitalism over the past 500 years.
Triploi explains how this lens reshaped his politics, why so‑called “radicalization” is often just education, and how social media unexpectedly became a platform for accessible political history. He also examines Australia’s position inside the U.S.‑led imperial system, from the 1975 dismissal to today’s alignment with Washington’s China strategy, and why anti‑China narratives dominate Australian media and think‑tank discourse.
Triploi has been a fan of history since he was a small child, with a particular passion for 20th century history and the World Wars. But what started as an interest in mainstream history eventually turned into a need to understand WHY things happened. 20+ years of study later, in areas as varied as aviation, sociology, politics (and more history of course) Triploi is determined to not just examine history but question why it is written the way it is, and why the western-centric, capitalist worldview has become so dominant, and what we can do can to fix all the damage it has caused across the globe.

Tings Chak | Why Asia’s Militarization Is Central to the US’s Strategy
2026/05/27
In episode 77 of Global Majority for Peace, Ileana Chan is joined by Tings Chak, researcher, writer, and Asia Co-coordinator of Tricontinental: Institute for Social Research to unpack why Asia has become the central frontline of US strategy. She explains how Washington is rapidly rebuilding a regional military architecture, from new bases in the Philippines and the militarization of Okinawa to arms sales to Taiwan, while countries like Vietnam, Indonesia, and Australia navigate this new Cold War landscape through their own histories, contradictions, and constraints.
She also examines the limits and openings of BRICS and South‑South initiatives, arguing that Asia’s militarization reflects a dying world order and underscoring the need for regional, anti‑imperialist solidarity.

Dr Jeyakumar Devaraj | Free Trade is a Trap: How the West Keeps the Global South Poor
2026/05/20
In episode 76 of Global Majority for Peace, Ileana Chan is joined by Dr. Jeyakumar Devaraj, a Malaysian physician, chairperson of the Socialist Party of Malaysia (PSM), and a lifelong advocate for workers' rights and healthcare equity.
Dr. Kumar co-founded Malaysia's only registered socialist party despite a decade of state obstruction and served two terms in parliament. They discuss how liberal Christianity shaped his socialist worldview, the lost spirit of the Non-Aligned Movement, what true sovereignty means, why free trade agreements trap Malaysia from raising wages or protecting local farmers, how ASEAN's 680 million people could become a self-sufficient bloc, and lessons from China, Cuba-Venezuela, and the history of neocolonial coups.

Laith Marouf | Why the West Fails to Understand Resistance
2026/05/13
In episode 75 of Global Majority for Peace, Ileana Chan is joined by Laith Marouf, a Syrian, Palestinian, Canadian journalist, political commentator, and the founder of Free Palestine TV. Laith’s work spans frontline journalism, political analysis, and independent media organizing, rooted in the Palestinian struggle for liberation and the broader politics of West Asian resistance. Born into a Syrian-Palestinian family and later based in Canada, his reporting and commentary have focused on imperialism, Zionist settler-colonialism, and the role of independent media in challenging mainstream narratives.
We discuss how his Palestinian-Syrian heritage and lived experience as a diasporan journalist shaped his political consciousness, what led him to found Free Palestine TV as a platform for uncensored coverage and analysis, and how his time in Canada informs his understanding of Western media complicity. Laith reflects on the challenges of sustaining independent journalism under political and financial pressure, the importance of on-the-ground reporting from Palestine and Lebanon, and why media sovereignty is essential to anti-imperialist struggle.

Mr Fong | Debunking Anti‑China Claims: But at what cost?
2026/05/06
In episode 74 of Global Majority for Peace, Ileana Chan is joined by Mr. Fong, a Netherlands‑based content creator known for his debunks of anti‑China propaganda and his work challenging Western narratives about Xinjiang, extremism, and China’s political system. His social‑media presence has grown across diasporic communities, from Malaysia to Europe, where his videos circulate widely among audiences seeking clarity beyond mainstream headlines.
We discuss how his political understanding developed despite growing up in a depoliticised Chinese‑diaspora household, how studying history and encountering misinformation pushed him to “untangle” his own assumptions, and why he began creating content after witnessing rising harassment of Chinese people in the Netherlands. Fong reflects on learning about Xinjiang through personal encounters, researching ETIM and extremist violence, and tracing how misattributed images, recycled witnesses, and repetition‑based propaganda shaped global perceptions. He also explains how speaking publicly about these issues has led to an ongoing legal case in the Netherlands, raising questions about censorship, political pressure, and the limits of dissent in Europe.

Francisco Dominguez | Stop Lecturing the Global South on How to Fight
2026/04/29
In episode 73 of Global Majority for Peace, Ileana Chan is joined by Dr. Francisco Domínguez, a Chilean academic, writer, and long‑standing analyst of Latin American politics. He has spent decades in the UK working in anti-imperialist solidarity movements, including senior roles within the Cuba Solidarity Campaign and the Venezuelan Solidarity Campaign, and is known for his work on sovereignty, political economy, and internationalism.
We discuss how living through the Chilean coup and later arriving in the UK as a refugee shaped his political worldview, how studying political economy transformed his understanding of global power, and what decades of solidarity organising taught him about internationalism. Francisco reflects on the shifts in UK activism from the 1980s to today, the challenges of building movements in the Global North, and why humility, sovereignty, and clarity are essential for meaningful global solidarity.

Abla Kandalaft | Storytelling as Resistance
2026/04/22
In episode 72 of Global Majority for Peace, Ileana Chan is joined by Abla Kandalaft, a London‑based journalist, researcher, and film programmer. She is a media consultant and writer for The Canary, serves as Chair of the Independent Media Association, is part of the team behind Mydylarama (an outlet dedicated to global cinema and cultural commentary), and a programmer and curator at the Garden Cinema in London and other venues and festivals.
We discuss storytelling as resistance, Hollywood's role as an arm of US empire, and how Iran is winning the meme war by turning America's own cultural tools against it. Abla explains how growing up in a Lebanese-Syrian household in the UK shaped her anti-imperialist worldview, why sovereignty is the core of all genuine resistance, and how the US and Israel are actively trying to foment civil war in Lebanon. Later, she breaks down the battle over media and culture, from Iranian embassies going viral with "hunk of the month" Abbas Araghchi, to the Films of Resistance database platforming Palestinian, Lebanese and Sudanese cinema, to why Hollywood blockbusters like Independence Day would flop if made today.
