46. Help! My Schedule is Out of Control! Simplify Your Routines to Become a More Present Mom
2026/10/02
Does your schedule feel like it’s getting out of control? Do you feel the weight on your shoulders getting heavier and heavier? Between homeschool, work, activities, appointments, meals, and all the everyday things that come with being a mom, it’s easy to find yourself constantly feeling stressed out. Are you trying to fit more into your day? But what if the answer isn’t a better schedule or another productivity hack? What if you need to simplify instead? What if it meant not starting new routines? Today, we’re talking about what to do when your season gets busier and the routines that once worked no longer seem to fit. You’ll learn how to simplify your routines, create boundaries around what matters, and turn to God for wisdom instead of trying to figure everything out on your own. We’ll talk about how to recognize when your routines need to change, why you don’t have to say yes to everything you can technically fit into your schedule, and how simplifying your days can create more space to be the present mom you want to be. Most importantly, you’ll be encouraged to pause, pray, and ask God what belongs in this season of your family’s life—and what you can let go of. You don't need to fit everything into your schedule just because you can. Sometimes becoming a more present mom doesn't require finding more time, it means simplifying your day.  Pause. Pray. Simplify. Make room for what matters. You don't have to do it all to be a good mom. You can simplify your days, protect what matters, and create more space to be present with the people you love. Quotes and Bible Verses Quote - Just because you can fit it into your calendar doesn't mean it belongs in your life. Bible Verses - Psalms 46:10 be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world. 1 Peter 5:7 Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares for you.  Links and Resources Mentioned: Sign Up for the Balance Work and Homeschool Coffee Chat: Learn 3 simple routines to help you balance being a homeschool mom while running a business. http://thesimplifiedmom.com/balance-work-and-homeschool Join the Community: Drop the perfectionism, leave your excuses at the door, and swap daily routine tips with other intentional, multi-passionate mom entrepreneurs inside the Routines for the Working Homeschool Mom Facebook Group. 42. Work Life Balance Over Burnout: How High-Achieving Working Moms Stop Perfectionism with Josie Anderson
2026/09/18
If you are constantly overwhelmed and snapping at everyone, it's because you don't have boundaries in place to prevent burnout. As working moms, we are often overachievers and constantly think we need to say yes to everything and try to do it all. Today I am chatting with Josie from The Ambitious Mindset Podcast. Together we are exploring emotions and subconscious patterns that lead to overwhelm in the home and burnout for the working mom. Josie shares 6 practical faith strategies and habits to restore peace, set healthier boundaries, and prioritize self-care without all the mom guilt.  The 6 Wellness & Boundary Strategies Ask for Support: Communicating needs isn't failure; hold peaceful family meetings before reaching a breaking point. Let Go of Control: Micromanaging stems from pride and fear—trust God and allow others to help. Lower Unrealistic Expectations: Allow children to complete household tasks their own way to build confidence and give yourself grace. Practice Morning Mindfulness & Stillness: Dedicate 5–30 minutes every morning to prayer, silence, and grounding before the day starts. Set Work & Digital Boundaries: Learn to say "no" or communicate capacity limits at work, and consider weekend social media fasts to reclaim focus. Invest in Your Personal Well-being: Fill your own cup first so you can care for your family from abundance rather than depletion. Four Key Points for the Working Homeschool  Unpack the Mindset: High achievers are often conditioned to "push through" emotions, leading to subconscious triggers and sudden emotional outbursts at home. Break the Cycle: Perfectionism and people-pleasing model unrealistic standards for children—especially young daughters who observe how parents handle failure and body image. Mind the Stats: 80% of human thoughts are negative and 95% are repetitive. Common stressors like pile-ups in laundry are usually symptoms of deeper limiting beliefs about a lack of support. Start Small: Implement only one strategy at a time to build sustainable, long-term daily habits rather than overwhelming your routine. We need to remember that we don't need to strive to be perfect and to lean on God.  If you need help building habits and routines to prevent burnout and overwhelm. 36. Can You Homeschool a Child with ADHD? The #1 Routine a Homeschool Mom Needs with Jenny Prior
2026/08/28
Do you think you can't homeschool a child with ADHD? Are there certain routines that will allow you to be a working mom and homeschool a child with ADHD? If you’ve been thinking you have to choose between being a working mom and a homeschool mom, you are not alone. You might feel the heavy weight of mom guilt, wondering if you’re failing your clients or letting down your family when things get loud. But trying to run your day on a rigid, public-school-style checklist will only lead to total exhaustion.   In this episode, former special education teacher and ADHD home systems expert Jenny Prior sits down with me to share how she completely protects her daily business productivity without acting like a drill sergeant to her five kids. We dive headfirst into the reality of home dynamics, managing meltdowns, and how a single low-energy routine can bring immediate stability to your schedule. Grab your favorite cold brew, fold that load of laundry, and let’s talk about building a sustainable home that breathes. Key Takeaways From the Episode: The Homeschool ADHD Advantage: Traditional public school settings often require children with ADHD to mask their symptoms all day, leading to severe dysregulation by the time they get home. Jenny highlights how a one-on-one home ratio allows you to tailor the environment to prevent sensory overwhelm before it starts. The #1 Sanity-Saving Routine: Instead of micromanaging every hour, Jenny structures her day around firm temporal "anchors," such as a strict 1:00 PM lunch block. By pairing these anchors with simple visual timers, the timer becomes the taskmaster, which allows the parent to connect rather than forcing rigid compliance. The #1 Routine: To maintain long-term sustainability and keep from unraveling, Jenny schedules a mandatory afternoon quiet block. Complete with a physical reminder note on the door reading "Mommy’s recharge time," she shares how to set children up for independent success so you can protect your business hours. The Recess Reset: When a school day completely falls apart, pushing through a meltdown is counterproductive. Jenny outlines her go-to strategy of calling an immediate "recess" outside, using sensory and nature play to regulate both her child's nervous system and her own disappointment. Connect with Jenny: Contact: Connect directly via email at [email protected]. Podcast: Tune into more tactical home advice on the Homeschooling Systems for ADHD Families Podcast. Community & Website: Access teaching strategies and home system resources inside the Homeschooling Support for ADHD Families Facebook Group. Trying to run a business while managing a neurodiverse homeschool without clear, established routines will inevitably lead to a total breakdown. When you try to force an uninterrupted, box-checking schedule onto an unpredictable day, you end up reacting in frustration rather than leading with grace. If you are constantly hitting a wall, it is a clear indicator that your schedule is missing the structural margins needed to preserve your mental health. Ready to Start Balancing Working Mom and Homeschool Life?   Mama, if your brain feels like it has a lot of choas going on right now, you do not have to walk through this season in survival mode. I have opened up exclusive spots this week for my Balance Business Strategy Call.   This is a deep-dive, one-on-one 60-minute strategy session where you and I will map out your specific business hours, identify the leaks in your current schedule, and build a customized, flexible block system that directly protects your peace.
