🎙️S3E1 When Healing Meets Love: Why The Relationships We Want Can Activate The Wounds We Have Worked So Hard To Heal.
2026/10/15
You can do the healing, learn your patterns, set your boundaries...and still find yourself overthinking a text message.
In this episode, Paula - your nurse, health coach, author and truth telling big sis - gets real about what happens when healing meets love.
We are talking about recognizing old wounds, distinguishing anxiety from relationship red flags, giving grace without abandoning ourselves, and learning to love someone without losing who we are in the process.
Because being self-aware doesn't mean you will never feel triggeres. Having faith does not mean you will always know how the story ends. And loving someone does not mean accepting a relationship that does not meet your needs.
Grab your water, coffee or tea, loves. It is time for an honest conversation about emotional healing, healthy relationships, discernment, boundaries and learning to trust yourself again.
In this episode, we will explore:
Why healing does not make us immune to emotional triggers
How to distunguish past fears from present-day patterns
The difference between giving grace and making excuses
Why potential is not the same as partnership
How to hold on to hops without abandoning yourself
Remember, loves: You can have an open heart and a strong boundary. You can hold don to hope and still pay attention to relaity. And you can love someone wihtout leaving yourself behind.
That is the work. And we are doing it together.
Follow The Healed Love Languages for honest conversations about healing, emotional safety, self-worth and learning to build healthier love - one plot twist as a time.
🎙️S2 E11 Are You Loving Them or Managing Them? The Childhood Wound That Turns Relationships Into Emotional Jobs
2026/10/04
Are You Loving Them or Managing Them?
The Childhood Wound That Turns Relationships Into Emotional Jobs
Whew. There’s a difference between loving someone and managing them and some of us have been calling emotional management love.
In this episode of the Behavioral Intelligence Series, Paula explores how childhood experiences can teach us to become hyper-aware of everyone else’s emotions, needs, and reactions. We learn to keep the peace, anticipate problems, rescue people, over-function, and carry more than was ever ours to carry.
And then we bring those survival skills into adult relationships.
We’ll talk about:
✨ People-pleasing and hyper-independence
✨ Why being needed can feel safer than being loved
✨ The over-functioner/under-functioner dynamic
✨ Rescuing people from natural consequences
✨ Emotional responsibility vs. emotional support
✨ Why asking for help can feel vulnerable
✨ How resentment builds when we silently carry too much
✨ The childhood belief that our value comes from being useful
✨ Healthy partnership vs. emotional project management
✨ What faith and surrender teach us about carrying what is and isn’t ours
Because healthy love doesn't mean doing everything for someone.
It means two adults choosing each other, supporting each other, communicating, taking responsibility, and carrying their own weight.
Maybe the healed version of strong isn't:
“Look how much I can carry.”
Maybe it's:
“I finally know what was never mine to carry in the first place.”

🎙️S2 E10 When Understanding Someone Becomes an Excuse for Them. Why Childhood Wounds Can Make Us Over-Explain Other People’s Behavior and Under-Protect Ourselves
2026/09/29
When Understanding Someone Becomes an Excuse for Them
Why Childhood Wounds Can Make Us Over-Explain Other People’s Behavior and Under-Protect Ourselves
What if being emotionally intelligent has actually made you better at explaining away behavior that continues to hurt you?
You understand their childhood. Their trauma. Their attachment style. Their fear of abandonment. Their emotionally unavailable parent. Their terrible ex. You can explain exactly why they shut down, pull away, become defensive, struggle with intimacy, or lash out.
But somewhere in all that understanding, did you stop asking:
What is this behavior doing to me?
In this episode of the Behavioral Intelligence Series, Paula explores how childhood conditioning can teach us to prioritize the reason behind someone’s behavior over the impact that behavior has on us and how empathy can quietly become self-abandonment.
We’re unpacking the difference between explanation and excuse, empathy and accountability, forgiveness and restored access, understanding someone’s wounds and accepting their behavior because of them.
You’ll also learn the Remove-the-Reason Test: temporarily stop asking why someone behaves the way they do and look at the behavior itself. What are they actually doing? Is it an incident or a pattern?Have you communicated the impact? How did they respond? And most importantly—what has actually changed?
Because an explanation without changed behavior eventually becomes information, not repair.
We’ll also talk about faith, forgiveness, boundaries, why love “rejoices with the truth,” and why being compassionate does not require remaining endlessly available for mistreatment.
You can understand someone's childhood and still have boundaries.
You can know they're hurting and refuse to let them hurt you.
You can forgive someone and still pay attention to the pattern.
And you can love someone without making their healing your responsibility.
Your wounds do not give you permission to wound me.And my healing does not require me to pretend they do.

🎙️S2 E9 Why Are We Trying So Hard to Make It Fit? Childhood Wounds, Incompatibility, Faith & Why Love Alone Doesn't Make a Relationship Work . Behavioral Intelligence Series
2026/09/23
Why Are We Trying So Hard to Make It Fit?
Childhood Wounds, Incompatibility, Faith & Why Love Alone Doesn’t Make a Relationship Work.
What if your relationship isn’t failing because you haven’t tried hard enough?
What if you’re trying to solve something that isn’t actually a problem but an incompatibility?
In this episode of the Behavioral Intelligence Series, Paula explores why we stay attached to relationships that require one or both people to become someone else in order to make them work.
We’re talking about childhood wounds that taught us to adapt for love, settling because we’re afraid to start over, falling in love with potential, people who “change” once the relationship is secure, and the painful difference between working on a relationship and constantly trying to make two incompatible people compatible.
And for my faith-based listeners, we’re going deeper:
Did God lead you to the relationship or did you choose the relationship and then ask God to bless it?
What happens when we become more committed to keeping a person than seeking God's direction? What does Scripture actually mean when it says love is “not self-seeking?” And can we accept that sometimes two good people simply want different lives without turning either person into the villain?
You'll also learn the “If Nothing Changed” Test:
If absolutely nothing about this person changed for the next ten years, would you willingly choose this relationship again?
And then the harder question:
If you never became the person they're hoping you'll eventually become, would they still choose you?
Because potential is not compatibility.
Sometimes healing isn't trying harder.
Sometimes it's finally becoming willing to see the person, the relationship and yourself, as they actually are.

🎙️ S2 E8 Behavioral Intelligence Series: When Control Feels Like Care. The Childhood Wounds That Make Coercive Control Feel Like Love.
2026/08/30
What if you didn’t recognize control because, somewhere along the way, you learned to call it love?
Inspired by the conversations surrounding Netflix’s Death of the Pastor’s Wife and the story of Mica Miller, this episode of the Behavioral Intelligence Series explores something much bigger than one relationship: silent abuse, coercive control, spiritual manipulation and the childhood wounds that can make controlling behavior feel strangely familiar.
Control doesn’t always announce itself with “You can’t.”
Sometimes it sounds like:
“I’m just protecting you.”
“Why do you need privacy if you have nothing to hide?”
“I don’t think that friend is good for you.”
“I’m the spiritual leader of this family.”
And sometimes nobody actually tells you that you can’t do something.
They simply teach you what happens when you do.
Paula Lowe, RN, BSN, explores how childhood experiences can teach us to manage other people’s emotions, fear disagreement, confuse obedience with goodness, protect the person hurting us, and sacrifice autonomy to maintain connection.
And for Christian women, we’re addressing a difficult question: What happens when faith, forgiveness, submission, or spiritual leadership are weaponized to demand silence or compliance?
Because:
Kindness isn’t compliance.
Forgiveness isn’t access.
Faith isn’t silence.
Protection isn’t surveillance.
Leadership isn’t ownership.
Concern isn’t control.
Healthy love may require compromise.

🎙️S2 E7 SPECIAL EDITION: Before They Break You The Lindsay Clancy Trial, Psychological Abuse & How to Recognize an Emotionally Unsafe Person
2026/08/24
Sometimes he’s nice.
Actually, sometimes he’s wonderful.
He makes you laugh. He shows up. He’s affectionate. He apologizes. He tells you he loves you. Maybe he prays with you. Maybe those beautiful moments are completely genuine.
And that’s exactly what can make emotional and psychological abuse so difficult to recognize.
In this special edition of The Healed Love Languages Podcast, Paula Lowe, RN, BSN, CPT, takes a careful look at the conversations surrounding the Lindsay Clancy trial—not to diagnose the people involved or turn unverified allegations into facts, but to ask a much bigger question:
How do we recognize an emotionally unsafe person before they have enough access to profoundly affect our lives?
Drawing from both her lived experience before becoming a nurse in her 40s and the clinical understanding she gained later, Paula explores how chronic emotional and psychological stress can affect the nervous system, self-trust, sleep, mood, confidence, and the way we experience relationships.
We’re talking about the things that don't always leave visible bruises:
Gaslighting.Control disguised as concern.Walking on eggshells.Isolation.Weaponized vulnerability.Chronic invalidation.Punishment after boundaries. The inability to take accountability. And the confusing cycle of waiting for the “nice version” of someone to come back.
Because relief when someone starts treating you well again can feel incredibly powerful.
But relief from distress is not the same thing as emotional safety.
And for Christian women, we’re going there too.
What does Scripture actually say about love, fear, harshness, truth, accountability, and guarding your heart? And when did having a good heart start meaning we were supposed to hand it repeatedly to people who mishandle it?
This episode isn't anti-man.
It's anti-abuse.
It's anti-manipulation.
It's anti-losing-yourself-to-keep-someone.
And it's about learning to recognize the good men and women whose character remains safe even when they're angry, disappointed, rejected, or told no.
Because maybe we've been asking the wrong question.
Instead of:
“Is he nice?”
Ask:
“Is he still safe when he isn't nice?”
Instead of:
“Does he choose me?”
Ask:
“After everything I've observed, should I choose him?”
❤️ Heal. Choose Better. Love Better.
The goal isn't to become so guarded that nobody can hurt you. The goal is to become healed enough that unsafe love stops looking like love.
🎙️S2 E6: 7 Signs You Might Be a Pick-Me Girl—and Not Even Know It How Childhood Wounds, Male Validation & Competition Between Women Get Confused With Love
2026/08/20
🎙️ 7 Signs You Might Be a Pick-Me Girl and Not Even Know ItHow Childhood Wounds, Male Validation & Competition Between Women Get Confused With Love
Before you send this episode to that woman... 😂
You might want to listen first.
Because being a “pick-me girl” isn't just about wanting male attention. Sometimes it goes much deeper.
What if the need to be chosen started long before dating?
What if you learned as a little girl that love, attention, or approval had to be earned?
Maybe you learned to be helpful. Pretty. Easygoing. Successful. Forgiving. Needed. The woman who “understands him.” The woman who doesn't ask for too much.
And somewhere along the way, being chosen started feeling like proof that you were valuable.
In this episode of The Healed Love Languages™ Podcast, we're taking the internet's “pick-me girl” conversation somewhere much deeper.
We're unpacking:
❤️ 7 signs you may be seeking male validation without realizing it
🩹 How childhood experiences can influence the need to feel chosen
🧠 Why competition, social comparison, insecure attachment, and conditional approval can follow us into adult relationships
🚩 Why “he's never treated me that way” doesn't invalidate another woman's experience
👀 Why being “the only woman who understands him” can feel so powerful
💔 How being needed can get confused with being loved
🙏 Why forgiveness, grace, and loyalty should never require abandoning truth
📖 What Scripture teaches about truth, discernment, and speaking up instead of protecting harmful behavior
And we're asking one particularly uncomfortable question:
When another woman tells you how a man treated her, is your first instinct to examine his behavior—or protect your access to him?
Whew.
Because a man treating you well doesn't automatically prove another woman is lying about how he treated her.
And being chosen doesn't necessarily mean you're being valued.
Sometimes we become so focused on winning the man that we forget to examine the prize package. 😂
Does it include integrity?
Accountability?
Emotional availability?
Consistency?
Faithfulness?
Because if the grand prize is dishonesty, triangulation, emotional unavailability and an accountability allergy...
PUT THE RAFFLE TICKET BACK. 😂
This isn't an episode about shaming women.
It's about understanding them.
Because underneath some “pick-me” behavior may be a little girl who learned:
If I'm prettier...
easier...
more understanding...
more useful...
more forgiving...
maybe someone will finally choose me.
Healing changes the question.
Instead of asking:
“How do I get them to choose me?”
we learn to ask:
“Is this healthy enough for ME to choose?”

🎙️ S2 E5 God Keeps Showing You Who They Are and You Keep Asking Him to Show You Again 7 Signs You’re Ignoring What Someone’s Behavior Is Already Telling You. Behavioral Inteligence Series | Episode 5
2026/08/16
Have you ever prayed:
“God, please show me who this person really is."
And then He did...
and you said:
“Nah. That can’t be them.” 😂
So you prayed again.
And somehow the red flag got another red flag, the confirmation got a confirmation, your friends saw it, your peace left the building...
and you're still asking God:
“But are You SURE?”
Listen. 😂
Sometimes we aren't waiting for another sign.
We're waiting for a different answer.
In this episode of The Healed Love Languages™ Podcast, we're getting honest and having a little fun about why even intelligent, self-aware people can struggle to accept what someone's behavior has already revealed.
We're unpacking:
❤️ 7 signs you're explaining away behavior you already recognize
🧠 Cognitive dissonance, confirmation bias, and the sunk-cost effect
🩹 How childhood wounds can teach us to rationalize other people's behavior
🌿 Why understanding someone's wounds doesn't require tolerating their choices
🙏 What happens when we keep asking God for discernment but don't like the information we're receiving
📖 Why Jesus told us, “By their fruit you will recognize them.” — Matthew 7:16
✨ How to trust patterns without becoming cynical, suspicious, or afraid of relationships
And yes..
we're discussing that very special stage of healing where you take a red flag, analyze it, pray over it, consider their attachment style, rotate it 45 degrees and decide:
“Maybe it's coral.” 😂
Sometimes it's just [plain red.
This episode isn't about judging people.
It's about learning to see them clearly.
Because you can have compassion for someone's wounds and believe their behavior.
You can forgive and use discernment.
You can love someone and recognize that their patterns aren't healthy for you.
And sometimes God doesn't need to show us again.
Sometimes we need to believe what He's already allowed us to see.

🎙️ S2 E4 When Loyalty Becomes Self-Betrayal: Why Some Christian Women Protect Harmful Men Instead of the Women They Hurt Behavioral Intelligence™ Series
2026/08/09
Why would a woman who genuinely loves God defend a man with a repeated pattern of harmful behavior while distancing herself from the woman who had the courage to speak the truth?
In this thought-provoking episode of the Healed Love Languages™ Podcast, Paula Lowe, RN, BSN, explores the psychology, childhood wounds, and biblical misunderstandings that can lead well-intentioned Christian women to protect image over integrity, comfort over truth, and loyalty over accountability.
This isn't an episode about blaming women.
It's an invitation to examine the beliefs, fears, and experiences that shape our responses when truth becomes uncomfortable.
In this episode, you'll learn:
Why belonging and approval can feel more powerful than truth.
Five childhood wounds that can distort loyalty and influence our relationships.
Why some people protect access to unhealthy relationships, even when they've been hurt themselves.
The difference between biblical unity and false unity.
Why the woman who speaks up often becomes the one who is rejected.
What Scripture teaches about grace, accountability, discernment, and exposing harmful patterns with love and integrity.
Jesus never called us to protect sin.
He called us to walk in truth.
If you've ever wondered why people defend unhealthy behavior, stay silent when accountability is needed, or struggle to reconcile grace with wisdom, this episode offers a deeper conversation rooted in psychology, Behavioral Intelligence™, and biblical truth.
Because healing doesn't just change who you love.
It changes what, and who, you're willing to defend.

🎙️S2 E3 Why Smart People Ignore Red Flags How Childhood Wounds Edit the Evidence. Behavioral Intelligence™ Series | Episode 3
2026/08/05
If the red flags were there...
Why didn't you see them?
In Episode 3 of the Behavioral Intelligence™ Series, Paula Lowe, RN, BSN, explores one of the most important questions in relationship healing:
What if the problem wasn't that you missed the behavior... but that your childhood taught you to interpret it differently?
Our nervous systems are wired to seek what's familiar before what's healthy. Childhood wounds can quietly shape how we explain away inconsistency, excuse unhealthy behavior, and mistake familiar patterns for safe relationships.
In this episode, you'll discover:
Why smart, emotionally aware people still ignore red flags.
How childhood wounds create a "lens" through which you interpret behavior.
The Behavioral Intelligence™ Formula: Behavior → Interpretation → Decision.
Five common childhood wounds that distort the way we perceive relationships.
How to separate facts from the stories we tell ourselves.
What Jesus meant when He said, "You will recognize them by their fruit." (Matthew 7:16), and how biblical discernment differs from judgment
Healing isn't just learning how to recognize unhealthy behavior
It's learning to stop rewriting it
Because your childhood may have taught you how to survive..
But healing teaches you how to see
If you've ever looked back on a relationship and wondered, "The signs were there... why didn't I see them?" this episode is for you.
Heal. Choose Better. Love Better.
🎙️S2 E2 Character Leaves Clues: The First 30 Days Tell You More Than the Next 300. Behavioral Intelligence™ Series | Episode 2
2026/07/28
What if the first 30 days of a relationship aren't for falling in love...
They're for paying attention?
In Episode 2 of the Behavioral Intelligence™ Series, Paula Lowe, RN, BSN, teaches you how to stop performing for acceptance and start observing for character.
Most people spend the beginning of a relationship asking, "Do they like me?" Behavioral Intelligence asks a better question:
"Does their behavior consistently reflect the kind of person I want to build a life with?"
In this episode, you'll learn:
Why the first 30 days should be about observation, not attachment.
The small behavioral clues that reveal someone's true character.
How people respond to boundaries, disappointment, correction, and inconvenience tells you more than their words ever will.
Why consistency is one of the strongest indicators of emotional maturity.
What Jesus meant when He said, "You will recognize them by their fruit." (Matthew 7:16).
Healthy relationships aren't built on chemistry, charisma, or potential.
They're built on character.
If you're ready to stop chasing mixed signals and start recognizing behavioral patterns before you're emotionally invested, this episode will change the way you approach every relationship.
Because character doesn't usually announce itself.
It leaves clues.

🎙️ S2 E1: Stop Listening to What People Say Behavior Is the Most Honest Language We Speak. Behavioral Intelligence™ Series | Episode 1
2026/07/21
What if the biggest mistake you're making in relationships isn't believing the wrong people...
It's believing the wrong information?
In the first episode of the Behavioral Intelligence Series, Paula Lowe, RN, BSN, introduces a powerful framework for evaluating character through observable behavior, not charisma, chemistry, promises, or potential.
Jesus said, "You will recognize them by their fruit." (Matthew 7:16)
Not their words.
Not their intentions.
Not their image.
Their fruit.
In this episode, you'll learn:
Why behavior is more reliable than promises.
The difference between words that create hope and behaviors that create trust.
How to identify patterns instead of making excuses.
Why consistency is one of the greatest indicators of character.
How Behavioral Intelligence can transform your dating life, friendships, family relationships, and even the way you evaluate yourself.
If you've ever ignored red flags because someone "said all the right things," this episode will challenge the way you think about relationships forever.
Stop chasing potential.
Stop explaining away patterns.
Start observing behavior.
Because healthy love isn't built on beautiful promises.
It's built on consistent character.
Heal. Choose Better. Love Better.
🎙️Episode 23: When Forgiveness Becomes a Weapon and How Some People Use Grace to Avoid Accountability
2026/07/20
Does forgiving someone mean you have to trust them again?
Does grace excuse repeated harmful behavior?
What does the Bible actually say about forgiveness, repentance, accountability, and healthy boundaries?
In this episode of the Healed Love Languages™ Podcast, Paula Lowe, RN, BSN, explores one of the most misunderstood topics in Christian relationships. Together, we'll examine Scripture to uncover the difference between forgiveness that frees your heart and repentance that transforms a person's life.
In this episode, you'll learn:
Why forgiveness is not permission to continue sinning.
The biblical difference between grace and accountability.
Why Jesus forgave people while still calling them to transformation.
How to recognize when forgiveness is being manipulated to avoid responsibility.
Why trust is rebuilt through consistent character—not repeated apologies.
How to forgive without sacrificing wisdom or healthy boundaries.
If you've ever been told, "If you were really a Christian, you'd just forgive and move on," or "If you forgave me, you'd trust me again," this episode will help you separate biblical truth from spiritual manipulation.
Because forgiveness heals the heart of the offended.
Repentance transforms the heart of the offender.
And healthy relationships require both.
Heal. Choose Better. Love Better.
🎙️Episode 22: How to Heal Childhood Trauma So You Stop Picking Familiar Pain Instead of Healthy Love
2026/07/19
Why do you keep ending up in relationships that look different but feel exactly the same?
The answer may not be your "type." It may be your childhood.
In this episode of the Healed Love Languages™ Podcast, Paula Lowe, RN, BSN, uncovers why our nervous systems are drawn to what's familiar instead of what's healthy and how childhood wounds quietly influence the partners we choose, the friendships we keep, the boundaries we struggle to set, and even the environments where we feel "at home."
You'll discover:
Why familiarity and compatibility are not the same thing.
How childhood experiences train your brain to seek safety—not necessarily healthy love.
Why emotionally healthy people can initially feel "boring."
The signs your inner child may still be choosing your relationships.
Practical steps to retrain your nervous system and begin choosing peace over chaos, consistency over confusion, and character over chemistry.
If you've ever wondered why you keep attracting emotionally unavailable people, tolerate unhealthy behavior, or mistake emotional intensity for love, this episode will help you understand the "why" behind your patterns and, more importantly, how to change them.

It's time to stop choosing familiar pain and start building relationships rooted in emotional safety, accountability, consistency, and genuine connection.
