It's Not Just About the Food: Understanding Picky Eaters
2026/10/16
Is your child a picky eater? Are mealtimes filled with frustration, food refusal, or constant power struggles? What if picky eating isn’t really about the food at all?
In this episode of The Art of Motherhood Podcast, Megan sits down with Katie Kimball, creator of the Picky Eater Playbook and host of the Healthy Parenting Handbook Podcast, to explore what’s really behind picky eating and how parents can create healthier, happier mealtimes.
From sensory sensitivities and anxiety to parenting habits and the pressure we unintentionally place on our children, Katie shares practical strategies to help families move beyond food battles and build a healthier relationship with food.
In this episode, you’ll discover:
Why picky eating isn’t always about being stubborn or difficultHow sensory sensitivities, stress, and anxiety can affect children’s eating habitsPractical ways to reduce mealtime power strugglesWhy teaching kids to recognize hunger cues mattersHow to encourage adventurous eating without pressureThe importance of looking beneath challenging behaviorsWhy curiosity, connection, and understanding are powerful parenting toolsBut this conversation goes beyond picky eating.
It’s a reminder that sometimes the behaviors we’re so quick to correct are the very ones we need to understand.
Whether you’re raising a toddler who refuses vegetables, navigating mealtime battles with an elementary-aged child, or simply trying to parent with more patience and intention, this episode offers encouragement and practical tools for your motherhood journey.
Because motherhood isn’t about controlling every behavior. Sometimes it’s about choosing curiosity over control.

Motherhood Doesn’t Have to Be Perfect to Be Good
2026/10/09
What if some of the seasons you worry you got wrong are the very ones your children will remember most fondly?
This week on The Art of Motherhood, I’m sitting down with Becky—a mom of three, grandmother, business owner, and woman who has walked through young motherhood, divorce, single motherhood, remarriage, career changes, and all the beautiful messiness in between.
We talk about the pressure to give our children a “perfect” childhood, what our kids actually remember, raising resilient children, balancing motherhood and a career, staying connected to yourself and your marriage, and learning to let go as your children become adults.
Becky also shares a story from one of the hardest seasons of her life—one she remembers for everything she couldn’t provide, but her daughter remembers as one of the best parts of her childhood.
Because maybe our kids don’t need us to get everything right.
Maybe they need to know they’re loved, that we’re in their corner, and that home is a place where they belong.
Motherhood doesn’t have to be perfect to be good.

There’s No Such Thing As Balance: Motherhood, Business, & Building Your Village
2026/10/02
What does it really take to be a mom, build a business, serve your community, and still make room for yourself?
This week, Megan sits down with Anjali Sharma, mom of three, entrepreneur, and maternal health advocate, for an honest conversation about motherhood, ambition, support, and why “balance” might not actually exist.
Anjali shares how an unexpected and difficult first birth completely changed the trajectory of her life, eventually leading to two home births and a passion for improving maternal care in her community. She also opens up about raising three very different children, running multiple businesses, building a birth center and mobile maternal health clinic, and the village behind everything she does.
Together, Megan and Anjali talk about the pressure moms feel to do it all, the balls that inevitably get dropped, learning to ask for and accept help, outsourcing without guilt, and recognizing that every part of our lives simply cannot get 100% of us at the same time.
They also dive into breastfeeding, NICU motherhood, building a local milk-sharing resource, entrepreneurship, marriage, and the unexpected ways motherhood can reveal what we’re capable of.
Because maybe the goal isn’t figuring out how to perfectly balance everything.
Maybe it’s learning what needs you most in this season—and realizing you were never meant to carry all of it alone.
Listen now to a conversation full of honesty, laughter, perspective, and plenty of grace for the mom who’s doing the best she can.

Let Them See You Try: Raising Kids While You’re Still Growing, Too
2026/09/25
What do our kids learn from watching us? Not just as mothers, but as women who are still figuring things out too?
This week, Megan sits down with Katie, a mom of four, homeschool mom, veterinarian, and business owner, for a conversation about raising kids while you’re still growing right alongside them.
They talk about homeschooling four very different children, balancing motherhood and work, letting go of the pressure to get everything right, apologizing when we don’t, and why our children need to see us take chances, do hard things, and sometimes get it wrong.
Katie also shares the story behind her unique veterinary practice providing in-home end-of-life care for pets—and what her children have learned from watching their mom build meaningful work around compassion, service, and a need she saw in her community.
Because maybe one of the greatest things we can give our kids isn’t the picture of a mom who has it all figured out.
Maybe it’s letting them see us try.
In this episode:
Why our kids benefit from seeing us do things that scare usHomeschooling children with completely different strengths and learning stylesWhy “I’m sorry” belongs in motherhoodRaising kids without expecting ourselves to get everything rightBuilding a business while raising a familyWhat children learn when they get to see their mom’s work up closeFinding purpose in work that is both difficult and deeply meaningful
Send this episode to the mom who needs the reminder that she doesn’t have to have it all figured out. Her kids are learning something beautiful just by watching her keep going.
The First 1,000 Days: How Gut Health Shapes Your Child's Health
2026/09/18
What does your child’s gut health have to do with their immune system, allergies, inflammation, and overall health? In this episode of The Art of Motherhood Podcast, I’m joined by gastroenterologist and author Dr. Savita to talk about the developing gut microbiome and why the first 1,000 days of life matter so much.
We talk about how pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, antibiotics, food, fiber, pets, outdoor play, and everyday family habits can influence children’s gut health. Dr. Savita also shares practical ways parents can support a healthy microbiome without becoming overwhelmed or feeling like they have to do everything perfectly.
We also dig into why dietary diversity matters, what “30 plants a week” really means, how much fiber kids and adults may actually need, why we shouldn’t be overly afraid of germs, and how the microbiome continues to change throughout childhood and even into adulthood.
This conversation is full of simple, realistic ideas for moms who want to support their family’s health without making motherhood more complicated than it already is.
In this episode, we discuss:
Children’s gut health and the developing microbiomeWhy the first 1,000 days are so importantPregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and antibioticsFiber, plant diversity, and the “30 plants a week” ideaPets, dirt, outdoor play, and immune developmentSimple food swaps for healthier gut bacteriaGut health during perimenopause and menopauseMom guilt, motherhood, and letting go of perfection

The Mental Load of Motherhood: You Don't Have to Carry It All
2026/09/11
The mental load of motherhood can feel endless. From keeping track of schedules, appointments and household needs to trying to be a good mom, wife, friend, employee and everything in between, moms are often carrying far more than anyone else can see.
In this episode of The Art of Motherhood Podcast, Megan sits down with Jaclyn for an honest conversation about the invisible mental load moms carry, the pressure to do everything well, mom guilt, asking for help, delegating at home, and learning to give yourself grace when you simply can’t do it all.
Jaclyn shares what she’s learning as a mom of four, teacher, worship leader and pastor’s wife about balancing the many roles of motherhood without expecting herself to be everything to everyone. Megan and Jaclyn also talk about raising children through different seasons, letting our kids see us make mistakes and apologize, accepting help, and trusting God with the places where we inevitably fall short.
If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by motherhood, wondered how other moms manage it all, or quietly thought, “Why am I the only person who seems to know everything that needs to be done around here?” — this conversation is for you.
Because being a good mom doesn’t mean carrying everything yourself.
In this episode:
The invisible mental load of motherhoodWhy moms feel pressure to do everything wellMom guilt and unrealistic expectationsAsking for help and delegating at homeBalancing motherhood, marriage, work and other responsibilitiesLetting go of perfection in parentingModeling apologies and grace for our childrenFaith, God’s grace and trusting Him in motherhoodFinding support and community as a mom
Listen to this episode of The Art of Motherhood for an honest, encouraging conversation about the mental load, overwhelmed moms, motherhood balance, mom guilt, faith and learning that you really don’t have to carry it all.
Raising a Child with Autism: Faith, Motherhood, & Finding Joy in the Unexpected
2026/09/04
What does motherhood look like when the journey is completely different from the one you imagined?
In this episode of The Art of Motherhood Podcast, Megan sits down with Amy, a mom of two sons on the autism spectrum, to have an honest conversation about autism, motherhood, faith, and raising a child with special needs.
Amy shares her journey from recognizing the early signs of autism in her oldest son to navigating diagnosis, therapies, school, friendships, marriage, and eventually adulthood. She opens up about the grief that can come from watching other children reach milestones you once imagined for your own child—and the incredible joy that comes from celebrating the milestones that may look different in an autism family.
They also talk about the loneliness many special needs moms experience, why finding a supportive community matters, the pressure to be the “perfect mom,” and the complicated fears that come with wondering who will care for an autistic child as they grow into adulthood.
Through it all, Amy shares how her Christian faith has carried her through the hardest seasons and changed the way she sees her role as a mother. This is a conversation about accepting the motherhood you were given, finding purpose outside of motherhood, advocating for your child, letting go of comparison, and trusting God even when the future feels uncertain.
Whether you’re parenting a child with autism, raising a child with special needs, supporting an autism mom you love, or simply navigating a season of motherhood that looks nothing like you expected, this episode is a reminder that there can be grief and joy, difficulty and beauty, all at the same time.
In this episode: autism parenting, autism motherhood, special needs parenting, early autism diagnosis, raising an autistic child, parenting an autistic adult, motherhood and faith, Christian motherhood, caregiver support, finding your village, motherhood identity, mom guilt, and finding joy in unexpected seasons.
Letting Go of Control in Motherhood: Faith, Presence, & Embracing the Mess
2026/08/28
Motherhood has a way of showing us very quickly just how little we can actually control.
In this episode of The Art of Motherhood Podcast, Megan sits down with Leiandra Moran for an honest conversation about raising two little ones close in age, navigating postpartum anxiety, walking through her daughter’s speech delay, leaving her career to become a stay-at-home mom, and learning to loosen her grip on the picture of how motherhood was “supposed” to look.
Leiandra shares how motherhood has taught her to accept help, stop comparing her children’s journeys to everyone else’s, make space for herself without guilt, and trust God with the things she simply cannot control.
They also talk about the beauty of raising children near extended family—even from hundreds of miles away—the importance of giving our kids relationships outside of us, and why sometimes the best thing we can do is simply let them jump in the muddy puddle.
One of Leiandra’s favorite reminders right now is this: “If God puts a Goliath in your path, He must believe you have a David in you.”
It’s a perspective that has changed the way she looks at some of the hardest parts of motherhood—not necessarily as things that have gone wrong, but as places where God may be growing both her and her children.
In this episode, they talk about:
The reality of having two children under twoPostpartum anxiety and the decision to become a stay-at-home momLearning to let go of control in motherhoodWhy our children don’t need us to say “no” to everythingMaking time for yourself without feeling guiltyThe importance of family and a strong support systemNavigating a child’s speech delay and the temptation to self-blameBreaking free from comparison in motherhoodTrusting God when your child is facing something difficultWhy being a stay-at-home mom is absolutely a jobChoosing presence over productivityThe legacy Leiandra hopes to leave her childrenIf you’re in a season where motherhood feels messy, uncertain, or simply harder than you expected, this conversation is a reminder that you aren’t the only one figuring it out as you go.
As Leiandra so beautifully puts it: we’re all in the thick of it.
Lean on your people. Pray. Let them jump in the puddles. And embrace the mess.
The Empty Nest Transition: Letting Go, Finding Yourself & Trusting God in Motherhood
2026/08/21
Motherhood asks us to hold on tightly for years—and then, eventually, to learn how to let go.
In this episode of The Art of Motherhood Podcast, Megan sits down with Tammy Luke, a wife, mom, grandmother, educator, and woman of faith, for an honest conversation about Christian motherhood, raising children, the empty nest transition, marriage, and trusting God through changing seasons of life.
After nearly three decades of motherhood, Tammy shares what she has learned about releasing the pressure to be the perfect mom, allowing your children to become who God created them to be, and navigating the transition from raising children at home to building relationships with adult children.
Tammy also opens up about her own faith journey, the importance of marriage and family, raising children while working and continuing her education, and why moms need community, boundaries, and something that belongs to them outside of motherhood.
Megan and Tammy talk about the bittersweet reality of the empty nest years: when you’ve spent so much of your life caring for your children, who are you when they no longer need you in the same way? Tammy shares encouragement for moms approaching the empty nest, including why letting your children grow and leave is actually part of doing your job well—and why this next season can be an opportunity to lean deeper into God rather than lose your sense of purpose.
They also discuss the pressure women place on themselves to do everything perfectly. Looking back, Tammy wishes she had asked for more help, slowed down, and given herself more grace. It’s a reminder every mom needs: you don’t have to be a perfect mother to be a good one.
In this episode, you’ll hear about:
Navigating the empty nest transition as a Christian momLetting go as your children become independent adultsFinding purpose and identity when your kids leave homeTrusting God’s plan for your children—even when it looks different from your ownReleasing the pressure to be the perfect momGiving yourself grace throughout motherhoodThe importance of marriage, family, and communityCreating space for yourself while raising childrenSetting healthy boundaries with family and othersStaying connected to your adult children without trying to control their livesRaising children with faith and allowing them to become who God created them to be
Whether you’re raising babies, teenagers, preparing for an empty nest, or already watching your adult children build lives of their own, this conversation is a reminder that motherhood changes—but your purpose doesn’t disappear when your children grow up.
You can release your children, trust what you’ve poured into them, and trust God with what comes next.
