Does Your Wife Think You Love Her When She’s Struggling?
2026/10/16
Jesus wants you to love and serve your wife today, and it's easy to get into a holding pattern THINKING you're doing that. But when the chips come down, how well are you REALLY doing? Kevin Swanson, Bill Roach, and Daniel Craig talk about the upward call of loving your wife better every day, and especially supporting her through her own struggles. They discuss… - How to stop being oblivious to your wife's struggles – including the one question to ask that will open your eyes to what the real problems are in your marriage - How to love her through trials like serious illness, with the remarkable example of how President William McKinley always ensured his bedridden wife was number one - A controversial litmus test for knowing when your relationship is faltering without you realizing - Some easy tactics for cultivating a stronger sensitivity to how precious your wife really is - What to do when your wife is not responding well to your efforts at loving her better Got a topic you want us to cover? The One You Love
2026/10/11
This sermon explores the narrative of Lazarus's illness in John 11, emphasizing the intimate relationship between Jesus and the family of Bethany. It highlights how Jesus delays his arrival not out of indifference, but to reveal a greater purpose for God's glory and the strengthening of faith. The discussion addresses the human struggle with suffering and unanswered prayers, encouraging believers to trust in God's sovereign timing and ultimate goodness. By examining Jesus's cryptic response about walking in the light, the teaching underscores the urgency of living in alignment with God's will while He is present. The overall tone is pastoral and reflective, inviting the audience to move beyond a superficial reading of the text to a deeper awe of Christ's love and power.
Proverbs 1:8-19 - The Trap of Unjust Gain
2026/10/04
Listen, my son, to your father's instruction and do not forsake your mother's teaching. They are a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck. My son, if sinful men entice you, do not give in to them. If they say, "Come along with us; let's lie in wait for innocent blood, let's ambush some harmless soul; let's swallow them alive, like the grave, and whole, like those who go down to the pit; we will get all sorts of valuable things and fill our houses with plunder; cast lots with us; we will all share the loot"— my son, do not go along with them, do not set foot on their paths; for their feet rush into evil, they are swift to shed blood. How useless to spread a net where every bird can see it! These men lie in wait for their own blood; they ambush only themselves! Such are the paths of all who go after ill-gotten gain; it takes away the life of those who get it.
Comparison of Counseling Techniques
2026/10/04
This is a recording from an earlier date when this same material was taught on 4-3-2013. This Sunday School class provides a comparison of several popular counseling philosophies. It groups the more than 250 different forms of psychology and counseling into three main groups and compares and contrasts to Biblical Counseling. The three groups are 1) Depth Psychology founded by Sigmund Freud, 2) Behavioral Psychology founded by B. F. Skinner and 3) Third Force Psychology founded by Carl Rogers. This message also discusses how our culture has erroneously accepted the medical model for mental illnesses. It closes by summarizing the implications of the Biblical Counseling model.
Our Commitment, Correction, and Communion
2026/10/04
This sermon examines the life of King Jehoshaphat to illustrate the spiritual principles of commitment, correction, and communion. It highlights how Jehoshaphat initially strengthened Judah through military preparation, removal of idols, and the dissemination of God's Word, resulting in national peace and prosperity. However, the message warns against the subtle danger of compromise, exemplified by Jehoshaphat's ill-advised alliance with the wicked King Ahab, which led to divine rebuke. The preacher emphasizes that God's correction is an act of mercy intended to redirect believers before greater judgment falls. Ultimately, the sermon calls the congregation to examine their own lives for hidden compromises, urging them to rely on God's grace and maintain faithful stewardship in anticipation of Christ's return.

Lay Down the Reins
2026/09/23
When it's time to Stop Controlling and Start Trusting True biblical peace comes from trusting God with our circumstances, not controlling every outcome ourselves. In this episode of SheRises, we examine anxiety, surrender, Christian responsibility, and the exhausting burden of trying to hold the reins of life. Jesus promises, "My peace I give you" (John | 14:27), but He never promises a trouble-free life. Instead, He offers settled confidence in God's sovereignty, goodness, and care, even during grief, illness, conflict, financial pressure, or uncertainty. Jesus reminds us, "In the world you will have tribulation" (John | 16:33), while Philippians | 4:6–7 teaches us to bring our requests to God through prayer, supplication, and thanksgiving. Biblical surrender is not passivity; it means taking faithful action while trusting God with the outcome. Listen and reflect on where you may be holding tightly to control instead of resting in Christ's peace.
⚖️ Lindsay Clancy, Moral Confusion, A Warning From Judges 19 🙏
2026/09/19
What happens when a society loses its moral compass? Judges 19 gives us one of the darkest pictures of moral and spiritual collapse in the Bible, repeatedly reminding us that "every man did that which was right in his own eyes." In this study, we examine the disturbing events of Judges 19 and consider how the moral confusion reflected in that passage can help us think carefully about challenges facing American society today. The Lindsay Clancy trial provides a sobering contemporary case study that raises difficult questions about human life, moral responsibility, mental illness, compassion, truth, and accountability. But this study is not simply about criticizing society. It is a challenge to mature Christians: How should we live and serve Jesus Christ when the culture around us becomes increasingly confused about right and wrong? We will consider the importance of standing firmly on God's Word, guarding our own hearts, restoring the fear of God, strengthening our families, practicing compassion without compromising truth, shining as lights in a dark world, and remembering that Jesus Christ—not culture, public opinion, or individual preference—is King. Judges ends with the words: "In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes." But for the Christian, there is a King. Jesus Christ is King of kings and Lord of lords. The question for us is not merely, "What is right in my eyes?" but "What is right in God's eyes?" 🙏 May this study challenge us to remain faithful to Christ, proclaim His truth, demonstrate His compassion, protect the vulnerable, strengthen our families, and shine His light into the world.
Samuel Davies - 1723-1761 - One of the Greatest Preachers in Early America
2026/09/15
In this upcoming episode of The Narrated Puritan, we journey into 18th-century colonial America to uncover the incandescent life and ministry of Samuel Davies—a man Dr. David Martyn Lloyd-Jones famously called "one of your greatest preachers." Born to humble beginnings and educated under Samuel Blair at the historic Faggs Manor academy, Davies entered pastoral ministry under the constant shadow of terminal illness, preaching every sermon with urgent, eternity-bound gravity. From navigating Virginia's rigid legal establishment to turn local "Reading Houses" into licensed Presbyterian churches, to pioneering literacy and evangelism among hundreds of enslaved African Americans, Davies' fearless leadership laid the very groundwork for religious liberty in America while inspiring the legendary pulpit fire of a young Patrick Henry. Join us as we trace his remarkable journey from the Virginia frontier to his final days succeeding Jonathan Edwards as the fourth president of the College of New Jersey, and discover why Davies' solemn, heart-searching preaching still speaks with profound power to our generation today.
The Prejudicial Witness
2026/09/13
This sermon examines Proverbs 24:28-29 to address the sin of bearing prejudicial witness, distinguishing between truthful testimony and malicious gossip. The central argument warns against speaking ill of neighbours without proper cause, emphasising the moral duty to preserve others' reputations rather than spreading their failings. Furthermore, the text condemns the cultivation of personal vengeance within the sphere of public justice, using historical events to illustrate how private malice can corrupt societal order. The preacher urges believers to shepherd their hearts with wisdom, ensuring that their response to injustice is driven by a desire for God's glory rather than personal retribution. Ultimately, the message calls for a disciplined integrity that reflects the character of God as the source of truth and justice.
Lessons from Lazarus
2026/09/13
This sermon explores the story of Lazarus in John 11 to illustrate how sickness and death serve to glorify God rather than signify His absence. The speaker emphasizes that believers must live lives worthy of Christ, maintaining a testimony of faith and character even during illness or approaching death. It highlights the importance of trusting in God's perfect timing for prayer answers, noting that delays often allow for greater demonstrations of divine power. The message urges listeners to die to self and walk in the light, ensuring their daily actions reflect a commitment to God's glory. Ultimately, it calls for personal salvation and a life dedicated to honoring Jesus in all circumstances.
Joshua 22.1-34 The Anxious Altar
2026/09/13
What happens when there is conflict between two parties? How is it often handled? If your brother sins against you, the Lord commanded that you go and tell him his fault, one on one. This would also apply to groups of people. Let them know that they might be doing something wrong, even though they may not know it. Here, we have a situation where there are two sides, both devoted to the Lord, but there was a misunderstanding and an attributing of ill motive. How do we tend to handle such conflict? First, we must recognize that the body of Christ is One and then, be sure that we are worshiping the Lord in Spirit and in truth.

Do Not Fear, Only Believe
2026/08/30
In Mark 5:21-43, we encounter two desperate people — a powerful synagogue ruler named Jairus and a woman who had suffered for twelve years. Through their stories we discover something profound about the nature of faith and the reach of Christ's power. Jairus, a man of rank and religious standing, throws aside every concern for his reputation and collapses at Jesus' feet, begging for his dying daughter's life. The woman, an outcast rendered untouchable by her illness, pushes through a crushing crowd just to brush the edge of Christ's garment. Both are at the end of themselves. Both find that Jesus is more than enough. This passage draws us into the climax of four consecutive miracles that together paint a stunning portrait of Christ's authority — over nature, over darkness, over disease, and finally over death itself. The raising of Jairus' daughter is a declaration that for those who belong to God, death is not the final word. Jesus calls it sleep, and that choice of words says everything. It tells us that what looks like an ending is, in the hands of our Savior, only a pause before the rising. Christ's words, "Do not fear, only believe", should encourage us to pray with confidence and perseverance, trusting in a sovereign God who does the impossible, while always deferring to his will.
