3 A deeper look at Judas—Could You Betray Jesus Too? - Mark 14:10-21
2026/10/19
Why did Judas Iscariot betray Jesus? Was it really just about 30 pieces of silver—or was something far more dangerous happening in his heart? In this in-depth Bible study of Mark 14:10–16, we explore the betrayal of Jesus Christ, the spiritual danger of loving money, and the remarkable truth that God's sovereign plan was unfolding even through humanity's most wicked actions. Judas was not an outsider. He was one of the Twelve disciples who had walked with Jesus, witnessed His miracles, and heard His teaching. Yet he chose money over Christ. How could this happen? And what warning does his betrayal hold for us today? In this episode, we examine the human and divine dimensions of Jesus' journey to the cross. My sermons are the fruit of nearly 30 years of pastoral ministry, biblical counseling, formal seminary training, and a lifelong passion for God's Word. Since childhood, I've been drawn to the beauty and power of expository preaching—opening Scripture verse by verse and applying it to real life. After graduating from Moody Bible Institute, I spent the next 27 years serving as a youth pastor, senior pastor, church planter, and host of the Food For Your Soul radio broadcast. Along the way, I also earned a Master of Sacred Literature and a Doctor of Religious Studies. For more content from D. Richard Ferguson, visit TreasuringGod.com. In Service of the Gospel
2026/10/18
This sermon examines the early church's response to rapid growth and logistical challenges, specifically the neglect of widows in daily food distribution. It highlights the apostles' decision to appoint seven men of good reputation, full of the Spirit and wisdom, to manage material needs so that the leaders could devote themselves to prayer and the ministry of the Word. The exposition draws a parallel between this event and the establishment of the diaconal office, emphasizing that all service within the church supports the central mission of proclaiming the gospel. The message encourages believers to view their participation in church life not as consumption but as active ministry, where sharing burdens allows the spiritual leadership to flourish. Ultimately, the sermon presents this structural adaptation as a key factor in the continued spread of the Word and the conversion of many priests to the faith.
“Freedom for the Sake of the Gospel” (1 Cor. 10:25–30)
2026/10/18
Many Christians do get caught up in rules to make themselves feel better about their lives. Yet, in the gospel, we have a great deal of freedom! We just watch to ensure that we don't use that freedom to bring offense against the gospel message. -Notes: https://pastormarksbury.blogspot.com/2026/10/sermon-freedom-for-sake-of-gospel-1-cor.html -Livestream: https://lwbcfruita.org/live -Donations: https://www.lwbcfruita.org/give

Behind the Scenes in NYC
2026/10/13
Dr. Bill Jones answers a common question about how his time is spent in New York City when he is not leading chapel services or hosting a mission team. He describes spending eight hours with his wife cleaning and power washing the church basement, where the Covenant Mercy Mission runs its food distribution, and patching holes in the mortar and sealing cracks on the west-facing side of the building in hopes of painting it in the spring. This behind-the-scenes work shows that maintaining the facility God has provided is a vital part of sustaining the chapels, food distribution, and spiritual outreach in the city. The account reminds listeners that faithful ministry includes humble, practical labor carried out in dependence on the strength God supplies. The episode closes with a request for prayer for both the spiritual outreach and the upkeep of the building God has given the ministry.

2 Six Signs You’re Falling Asleep Spiritually (Mark 14:1–9)
2026/10/12
Could you be drifting into spiritual sleep without even realizing it? Discover six biblical warning signs of spiritual complacency in this in-depth, expository sermon on Mark 14:1–9. Spiritual sleep rarely happens overnight. Just as a driver can gradually fall asleep behind the wheel without recognizing the danger, Christians can slowly lose their spiritual alertness. Fear of God diminishes, sin becomes less troubling, worship loses its significance, and the promises of Scripture no longer seem as real as they once did. In this message, we examine Jesus' anointing at Bethany and discover what the contrasting responses of Mary, the disciples, and the religious leaders reveal about the condition of our hearts. Blessing Noah III
2026/10/11
This sermon examines the post-flood blessings in Genesis 9, focusing on God's renewal of the mandate for human dominion and the provision of sustenance. The speaker argues that God instills a healthy fear in the animal kingdom to protect humanity, a blessing rooted in divine sovereignty rather than mere biological instinct. Furthermore, the text highlights God's generosity in expanding the human diet to include animal flesh, contrasting this with the original vegetarian provision in Eden. The discussion addresses the theological legitimacy of consuming meat, refuting false teachings that impose dietary restrictions as spiritual requirements. Ultimately, the sermon encourages believers to view all food as a good gift from God, to be received with thanksgiving and prayer.
