When G came into the residential program, he was spinning his wheels. For a long time he tried in his own strength to please God. Ever patient, the Lord continually wooed G to Himself. Then one day, through divine revelation, he saw that all of his own effort proved he had no trust in God. Reflecting on God's faithfulness towards him, G felt Jesus asking him, "Will you trust Me?" All addictions send a person in one direction and one direction only: down. Sexual sin, drugs, alcohol, and even entertainment all promise fulfillment. But as a soul continually heeds temptation’s voice, it becomes increasingly corrupted: crossing lines that once seemed too far away and growing attracted to things that once seemed repulsive. This is called the Spiral of Degradation. This dark path always leads to ruin. Yet through the power of God and His gift of repentance, that journey can be reversed.
