The Early Church: Praying, Seeking, Submitted to the Word
2026/10/18
This sermon examines the period between the Ascension and Pentecost, highlighting the early church's commitment to corporate prayer, scriptural governance, and seeking God's direction. The central message emphasizes that the apostles and the wider community of 120 believers gathered in one accord, prioritizing devoted prayer over passive waiting. The text explores the theological significance of replacing Judas with Matthias, arguing that this act fulfilled prophetic Scripture and restored the symbolic representation of the twelve tribes of Israel before the Spirit's outpouring. The preacher encourages the congregation to view corporate prayer as the foundational activity of the church, asserting that such unity and dependence on God precede and empower all other ministry efforts.

Resisting Salvation
2026/10/18
In Genesis 19:12–29, Lot and his family face God's coming judgment upon Sodom and Gomorrah. Through their responses—laughing, lingering, and looking back—we see the dangers of rejecting God's warnings, delaying obedience, and clinging to the world. Yet even in Lot's hesitation, God's extraordinary mercy is revealed. This sermon examines the seriousness of God's judgment, the danger of apostasy, and the call to persevere in faith, finding our only refuge in Jesus Christ. Praying For Those "in Christ"
2026/10/18
This sermon explores Paul's prayer in Ephesians for believers to receive the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of God. It emphasizes that this knowledge is not merely abstract but involves an intimate, experiential relationship with the Father through Jesus Christ. The exposition highlights three key aspects of this divine knowledge: the sure hope of God's calling, the riches of His inheritance in the saints, and the exceeding greatness of His power available to believers. By connecting these themes to Christ's resurrection, ascension, and headship over the church, the message encourages a deep hunger for spiritual understanding and reliance on God's dynamic power for the Christian life.
A Father and Defender
2026/10/12
Psalm 68 is a wonderful psalm of David in which he celebrates God's power and good providence over the affairs of His people. It's a grand song that was sung after God had given David victory and subsequent rest from all his enemies. It's also a glorious psalm in which David speaks prophetically about the Messiah, His ascension into heaven, and the setting up of His kingdom in the world.
True Discipleship
2026/10/11
In Mark 8:34–38, Jesus teaches that true discipleship requires denying ourselves, taking up our cross, and continually following Him, surrendering our claim to rule our own lives and acknowledging that Christ alone belongs on the throne. Discipleship is not self-improvement or vague spirituality, but wholehearted allegiance to the historical Jesus revealed in Scripture and to the gospel of His perfect obedience, substitutionary death, resurrection, ascension, and promised return. Jesus presents the paradox that those who seek to preserve their lives through self-rule, worldly comfort, reputation, and achievement will ultimately lose them, while those who surrender their lives for His sake and the gospel will find eternal life. The whole world cannot compensate for the loss of the soul, nor can anything a person possesses redeem it; Christ alone is worthy and able to ransom sinners. The believer's willingness to deny himself and endure suffering is grounded in union with Christ: having been crucified with Him, the Christian is no longer under condemnation or governed by the world's values and approval, but lives by faith in the Son of God, with obedience flowing from grace rather than earning salvation. Jesus warns that those who are ashamed of Him and His words in this sinful generation will face the shame of the Son of Man when He returns in glory to judge the living and the dead. Therefore, Christians must examine whether comfort, reputation, worldly success, or human approval has taken precedence over Christ, resist compromise, and remain faithful even when discipleship brings rejection or loss, finding comfort in the certainty that present suffering cannot compare wit
