Wisdom Is Calling
2026/10/18
Wisdom is calling, but are we listening? In Proverbs 8:1–11, Solomon presents wisdom as a voice that actively seeks our attention, offering God's perspective for the decisions we face every day. Wisdom is not reserved for the educated, the spiritually mature, or a select few. It calls to everyone, offering guidance in our relationships, finances, families, and daily lives. Yet wisdom is often ignored, not because it is unavailable, but because we fail to listen, diligently seek it, and value God's instruction above our own desires.
There's a Better Way
2026/10/18
This sermon explores the central theme that God's way offers a superior path to life and godliness compared to the self-directed pursuits of the world. Drawing primarily from Proverbs chapter one, the message emphasizes that wisdom shapes perception, allowing individuals to view life from God's perspective rather than through the limited lens of human desire. The text highlights the importance of receiving instruction to make just decisions and treat others with equity, particularly encouraging young people to heed the counsel of their parents and mentors. It contrasts the painful consequences of rejecting divine reproof with the promise of safety, peace, and protection for those who submit to God's guidance. The sermon concludes with a call to be doers of the word, urging listeners to actively live out God's plan to experience true fulfillment and blessing.

Emotionally Driven Vs. Spirit Led
2026/10/18
The sermon explores the distinction between being emotionally driven and being Spirit-led, emphasizing that true discipleship requires enduring faithfulness rather than fleeting emotional responses. Drawing from John 8, the message highlights Jesus' instruction to continue in His word as the path to knowing the truth and achieving genuine freedom. The speaker shares personal testimony about past instability and the importance of maintaining commitments, responsibilities, and order in daily life. By submitting the mind, will, and emotions to the Holy Spirit and the Word of God, believers can avoid the chaos of emotional instability and walk in the discipline that produces lasting spiritual fruit. The central call is to seek the Lord consistently, allowing His guidance to direct life rather than relying on transient feelings or worldly pleasures.
Interpreting Through The New
2026/10/18
This sermon emphasizes the hermeneutical principle that the Old Testament must be interpreted through the lens of the New Testament to understand its full theological significance. Using the example of Herod's perplexity in Luke 9, the teaching demonstrates how New Testament passages clarify Old Testament prophecies, such as identifying John the Baptist as the fulfillment of Malachi 4:5. The discussion highlights that the New Testament provides the final authoritative word on how to apply Old Covenant laws and understand prophetic timelines, distinguishing between the era of the picture and the current age of the spiritual kingdom. This approach prevents misinterpretation by allowing the Holy Spirit's guidance in the New Testament to illuminate the meaning of earlier scriptures. The message concludes with a pastoral encouragement to trust God's timing and selective revelation, reminding believers that they are responsible only for what has been revealed to them in the present moment.
The Apocalyptic Vision
2026/10/18
The apocalyptic sections of Daniel will be challenging. This type of literature is one that we are not used to and one that needs to be dissected. We will read about pictures and symbols that we need to be very careful with. The reason for apocalyptic literature is that it paints words in pictures and it is a language that was very common in the Old Testament as well as the New Testament. For us it is not so common. Daniel would see a vision in which he would see four beasts coming out of the sea. These beasts are representations of either kingdoms or kings or both. He would be perplexed and vexed by the fourth kingdom for which we will look at as the weeks go on. Be prayerful as we move along this tougher section of Daniel and pray for God's guidance as we navigate through the text. Thank you. Daniel 7:1-14 Revelaion 14: 14-16
Departing Gifts and Guidance
2026/10/18
Luke 8 14-15 Parable of the Soils, pt 4
2026/10/18
In this 4th installment in the explanation Jesus gives concerning the Seed and the Soils, we get to see a close proximation (though it still misses the mark) of what salvation looks like, and a good example of what True Salvation looks like. There are lots of people attending churches today (on a somewhat regular basis) whose lives are filled with so many worldly-oriented things and so many energy consuming focuses that are not growing their faith or giving them opportunities to minister their faith to their neighbors. They are able to talk a faith that sounds good on the surface. But they are not engaged in things that draw their hearts closer to Jesus and therefore are not helping them to mature in their faith. Their lives are unable to bear good fruit, because they are being choked out by the cares of the world and their love of the world (1 John 2:15-17; James 4:4; Matthew 6:24, etc.). John the Baptist said that there is a fruit of repentance that follows the act of faith in God (Mt 3:8). Jesus told His disciples that those He has chosen would bear fruit and that fruit would remain (John 15:16). Paul, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit proclaimed that the fruit of the Spirit is very obvious when compared to the deeds of the flesh (Galatians 5:22-25), and that it would show up in how they live their daily lives (Colossians 1:10) and would be able to be seen as excellent (Philippians 1:9-11). The key difference is not in the because of some different soil. All four are in the same area where the seed is scattered - it all looks pretty much the same. The key is in the hearer's heart response to the movement and call of the Holy Spirit on their lives (Ro 1:16-32).
What part does Prayer play in your life?
2026/10/18
This sermon emphasizes the critical role of persistent prayer in maintaining spiritual vitality and preventing believers from fainting in their faith. Drawing from Luke 18, the message contrasts the unwavering persistence of the widow in the parable with the danger of spiritual drift, illustrated by the examples of Noah and Lot. The central argument is that prayer is not merely an activity but a necessary attitude of life that connects believers to God's power, patience, and justice. The preacher urges the congregation to view prayer as a defense against the world's increasing godlessness and a means to experience God's reality and presence. Ultimately, the sermon calls for a renewed commitment to constancy and urgency in prayer, asserting that it is the primary means by which God's people receive strength, guidance, and salvation.
Led forth by the right way
2026/10/18
And he led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation. (Psalm 107:7) *1/ A people led forth. 2/ A people led forth by the right way. 3/ The end in view - "That they might go to a city of habitation."* **Sermon summary:** The sermon explores the assurance found in Psalm 107:7, emphasizing that God leads His redeemed people by the right way toward a heavenly city of habitation. It identifies three key aspects of this divine guidance: the initial leading forth from a state of sin or worldly attachment, the maintenance of a path that may seem difficult or contrary to human expectations but is governed by the Word of God, and the ultimate destination of eternal rest. The preacher uses the Israelites' wilderness journey as a type for the Christian pilgrimage, illustrating how God's providence orders circumstances, such as job changes or life transitions, to align with His will. The tone is pastoral and comforting, encouraging believers to trust in God's sovereignty even when their path appears perplexing, and to look forward to the final destination with hope.
Pre-Debate Dividing Line: The MIEs versus the Old Apostles and Prophets of Mormonism,
2026/10/15
Split the program in half today, covering the continuing developments in Mormonism, and the MIEs (Mormon Intellectual Elites) in contrast with the old view of authority and spiritual guidance. Then I gave an overview of what I expect in Saturday's debate, including putting Basil's words from On the Holy Spirit 18.45 on the big screen and discussing his original meaning in contrast with today's use of his words.
Led In Righteousness
2026/10/14
The sermon emphasizes the deeply personal nature of Psalm 23, highlighting how the use of first-person pronouns reveals an intimate relationship between God and the individual believer. It argues that God is not merely a distant deity but a faithful, unchanging Shepherd who actively guides, restores, and protects His people. The message contrasts the defenseless and prone-to-wander nature of sheep with the steady, peaceful leadership of the Lord, urging believers to rely on divine direction rather than their own emotions or the opinions of others. The preacher warns that making decisions outside of God's will leads to spiritual distance and broken relationships, whereas following the righteous path brings rest and peace. This instructional and pastoral tone encourages the congregation to trust in God's timing and provision, illustrating this truth through personal testimonies of divine guidance during difficult life circumstances.
Finding God's Will
2026/10/14
This sermon outlines practical guidelines for discerning and following the will of God, emphasizing that divine direction is accessible to those who are saved, Spirit-filled, and submissive. The central theological argument rests on Romans 12:1-3, which calls believers to present their bodies as living sacrifices and be transformed by the renewing of their minds through Scripture. The speaker illustrates that God guides believers step-by-step, requiring active faith and movement rather than passive waiting, much like steering a moving vehicle. Key principles include trusting God with one's desires, seeking godly counsel, and leaving room for divine providence, as seen in the lives of biblical figures like Joseph and Ruth. The tone is pastoral and instructional, encouraging listeners to trust and obey God's sovereignty to experience true joy and peace in their decision-making.
